We initially had a great experience. Staff was always very friendly, the lobby was clean, and communication was great. I loved the convenience of being able to book what I needed through the app, watch on the cameras, etc. We visited another location, and I could not stop raving about how much better this location was for numerous reasons. Unfortunately, the last time my dog attended, we were informed that he was expelled due to an interaction that he had with another dog. I was very surprised, as he has never shown any aggressiveness towards other dogs or people. He has attended numerous times and there was always positive reports at pick up. When I asked for the video, or an account of what happened, the staff was not very understanding. I was told that he was approached a few times by the same dog to play, and all times my dog did not want to, but on the final time, he responded inappropriately. I think that was really unfair. Why is my dog the only being held accountable? Additionally, when I asked how many dogs and people were in the yard, I was told 25 dogs and ONE person, which is "standard". What if the person had their back turned and did not see what happened? How is one person able to mange that number of dogs at one time?Why wasn't there any redirection or intervention the first few times the dog approached my dog? None of my questions were answered and I could sense attitude on the other end of the phone. I think that the situation was handled poorly and I wish I would have done more research on this place as well as any and all required trainings by the handlers (if at all), cleanliness of the cabins, person to dog ratio, etc. After reading and doing some research, I realized this was not the only one who experienced this. My experience at the Temecula Camp Bow Wow. I took a while to write this. As I came from Texas and used Camp Bow Wow there all of the time. Most amazing place ever. I was excited to use the one in Temecula. Upon arriving there met a guy in the parking lot that told me his rescue dog is being expelled. I asked why. He stated she has an issue with a choke collar around her neck. He told them in advance. As he was retrieving his pup the front gal was a bit sharp. Not a good start. I was there to drop my dog off for a three hour interview. Along with my friends dog. Both appointments were made in advance. She only had one of us down. We had confirmed the appointments that morning. Apparently they thought I was the owner of both. It was their staff that took the appointments. I tried to explain how it came about. Her name I believe is Melissa. Come to find out she is the manager. Shocking as her customer service is horrible. Now I'm thinking she is just having a bad day. So I chose to be nice and let it go. My friend walked in with here dog Bear. I could already see this is not going to go well. Melissa stated she did not have Bears shots and to resend them. Ok. That works. However Anne could not see her phone well enough to type the email in correctly. She is almost 70 years old. She asked Melissa for help to type it in and Melissa refused. Anne went and retrieved her glasses and resent. Problem solved. So we waited for Melissa to take Bear back. Anne walked Bear over and asked how is your day going. Melissa stated it was going great until she came in. My mouth dropped to the floor. Who says that. Anne apologized to her immediately for ruining her day. At this point I'm thinking why would I want to leave my dog with a person who has a nasty attitude. I have never experienced this at any board and care. We both ended up leaving the dogs for barely 3 hours. Came back and Melissa stated both our dogs have passed the test. Unfortunately Melissa did not pass my test. We recently boarded our dog at Camp Bow Wow Temecula, and unfortunately, our experience was very concerning. At pickup, we were informed that although he performed well in the play yard, he refused to exit his kennel and would growl and attempt to bite staff. This was shocking to hear, as it is completely out of character for him. He is extremely friendly, has never shown aggression, and is regularly around strangers and young children without any issues. He has also stayed at other Camp Bow Wow locations (Anaheim and El Cajon) multiple times with no problems--in fact, those locations had only positive things to say about him. What is especially concerning is that we were never contacted during his stay about this alleged behavior. Hearing something this serious only at pickup is unacceptable. Even more troubling, he came home with a red mark on his face that appeared consistent with being handled roughly. If he was handled in a forceful or distressing manner, it could reasonably explain a defensive reaction from an otherwise gentle and submissive dog. After reading other reviews describing similar concerns about staff handling dogs at this location, it raised serious red flags for us. We left feeling confused, upset, and concerned about how our dog was treated. To make matters worse, we were told he is no longer allowed to return, even at other Camps where we've had good experiences, which makes no sense given his history and temperament. We strongly urge management to review their handling practices and communication with pet owners. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this location. read more

Over crowding of dogs. My dog caught kennel cough which I had to take my dog to vet which cost $1800 dollars. They do not play with dogs or have them outside. Basically keep 15-20 dogs together in kennel all day with no interaction. Also supervison is mediocre. They have Webcam so u can monitor your pet...watched a dog hump other dog while employee did nothing until I called. Did not realize this place also has a history of kennel cough and injuries. I'm OVER THE MOON for this place!!! Was referred to it (for my Frenchie) by Country Kennels. Absolutely ADORE the lobby and the cheesy but so calming actual CAMP vibe...down to a soothing rocking loveseat and an electric fireplace that's ON - even on the hottest days/not for heat but for ambiance. WOW! I LOVE the "interview" process where they take a whole 3 hours to make sure your dog will "fit into the pack and not be a problem" - which assured me that all the others there would "play nice" with MY dog...which they DID...and all of this was FREE as the first day. The whole cherry on the top was being able to spy on the dogs ALL DAY via their app web cams/inside and out; you can switch at will. Another huge WOW; I was absolutely mesmerized. And each time their "counselors" petted my dog, it was a true "awwwww" moment. The people were all great here and Christina took extra good care of us, both on the phone and in person. I really couldn't like this place more. And they offer a GREAT first day "package" that saves $50, so I was very on board with that. LOVE IT. Two huge thumbs up. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My dog stayed at Camp Bow Wow for two nights last month, and the night we brought him home he began coughing. By the next day it had worsened, and our vet diagnosed him with kennel cough. Unfortunately, it progressed to pneumonia despite treatment, costing us thousands of dollars and putting my dog's health in serious jeopardy. Wow! I'm so glad Melissa was so unprofessional that it caused me to come to Yelp. I don't know why I didn't check Yelp before considering this place. Melissa, the manager, called me to tell me that she couldn't take my dog for his orientation today because he didn't have his neuter certification. My dog is a male and he received vaccinations from two facilities. Both are signed documents from vets. One of the documents noted his neuter status and the other one did not have a section where for that so it didn't note it. My dog IS neutered. He's been neutered since he was under one year old and he's three years old now it's obvious he's neutered. You can see the scar. I tried to reason with Melissa, the manager, that it's obvious that he has been neutered. She cited some rare condition where the testes don't fully drop. Ok but I don't know how that would leave a scar. But that's just me thinking logically. My second complaint is that they didn't let me know yesterday (Saturday) when I could've called my vet so that they could ask them to email over proof of the neuter. She did not care. I called back to let them know I needed to cancel the orientation because the vet is closed on a Sunday. A male answered and he sounded much more reasonable. He put me on hold to go check. But then Melissa, the manager, came back with her unprofessional attitude and would not be reasonable. I asked Melissa, the manager, to give me the owners name because that is who she said is above her. She's said their names are Lisa and Michael Hate. When I asked for the spelling of their last name so that I could spell it correctly, she claimed to not know how to spell it. I asked her to check with someone else to see if they knew how to spell it. After waiting on hold, she came back and said no one else knew how to spell it and said it won't be a problem if I misspelled it. They will know who to give it to. I let her know it's a matter of respect that I spelled their last name correctly and that I was surprised that a person wouldn't know how to spell their boss' last name. I came here to write this negative review but I started to read the other negative reviews and I'm so glad I did. I'm definitely not going to take my dog to this place. Melissa did me a favor. I'm still going to write her bosses because even if they don't care, I would want to know if one of my employees is causing me to lose business. Unfortunately I don't feel like the majority of the employees cared for the dogs, they had little of none interaction with my dog and other dogs. My dog walked the area looking super depressed and she's a very happy dog. There were no toys. You can call and add for your dog to be pet for an additional fee. I spoke with Lisa. I don't know if that will help. I expected my fur baby, to be pet and treated well and I unfortunately feel just the opposite. Only one male employee pet some of the dogs. So take that into consideration when you book here. Also my dog is small they had some medium sized dogs in with the smalls and my dog amongst others where getting g ran over by the bigger dogs. It looks so sad the area I didn't see the dog, but the area looks sad and I personally do not want to take my dog somewhere that looks and feels like that so for those of you love it have at it, but I love my dog and I want my dog to be loved. I don't want them to be put in a crate and just left and if I have to pay for them to touch my dog. Those are not dog lovers. you have to pay for them to touch your dog. They do not love dogs. Never coming back again. After I picked up my dog here after boarding, he appeared stressed and hungry, and it became evident that he was not properly cared for. I watched the cameras and there were an insane number of dogs per worker, making it impossible for the workers to watch and care for each dog. The area also seemed unclean. The workers at time dragged the dogs aggressively on cameras, which I can only imagine what terrible actions they've done outside the cameras. His food container was also full, so who knows if they even fed him the right amount of food. The worst part was how unprofessional and rude the workers were after we picked him up. My pup Remi spent ten whole days and one overnight stay here, and she had the most fantastic time! The staff was so lovely and treated her so well. I love the fact that they have indoor and outdoor spaces with three different sizes for various sizes of dogs, and if the dogs were all roughly the same size, then they would combine the 2 yards, giving them a larger space to run around and play. I like that they have cameras in all 3 yards, so throughout the day, I could go on the app and check on Remi and see what she was up to. What's also neat is a few times a month, they offer different enrichment activities that you could sign your dog up for to make the day extra fun for them. For example, one day, they provided bubbles and a ball pit, and another, they had peanut butter painting. You pay extra for those, and they last for about 45 minutes. Remi did both and had so much fun! Every so often, I would get a photo or a quick text about how Remi was doing, and honestly, that made my day knowing that Remi was being taken care of. It was great because when I would pick Remi up in the evening, she would be so tired that she would fall asleep once she got in the car. I could go on and on about how excellent this place is because it was. I can't thank the staff enough for treating Remi so well and being so good to her. read more

First I am a dog lover but if you're bringing your dog to camp now wow for a safe fun stay, I think you should be aware of what's really going on there. My daughter paid to keep her dog there for nine days. She asked me to please watch on the cam every day to make sure her dog was OK as I watched the camera I realize that we're letting at least 18+ dogs kept in a kennel together with one person supposedly watching. I know that when you have that many large dogs together if there were to be an incident, there would be no way to break it up with the amount of people they have working there. It was sad for me to see all these dogs together just pacing back-and-forth, then, my daughter got a call that her dog, who, by the way has been going there since she was about four months old, was causing an incident with another dog and was going to be kenneled until after dinner. After dinner, my daughter texted me and said, can you please check make sure they're letting my dog out, I did check and saw her dog out for about 10 minutes and then she was gone. I called to find out where she was and was told that because her and the other dog with irritating each other they were going to have to rotate them and they were supposed to both get a half hour out before they go in the kennel at seven and are in there until seven in the morning, just very frustrated to see this is how the dogs are treated. My daughter even payed for extra snuggle time two times while she was gone. So this is just a heads up to anyone who is thinking of leaving their dogs here I'm going to try to attach a picture I took of the amount of dogs in the kennel. read more

This location is great! These are people that will treat your fur baby as if they are their own. I really appreciate the owners, especially this last visit. It was a rainy day and a doggo was running around and lost control and slid into my little guy and squished him into the play area. My poor guy is 13 years old so he was yelping and in pain and the staff jumped right into action. They took him to the vet and kept me updated every time they heard news. (I was out of state for a week) They communicated amazingly and my pooch ended up being fine and just some muscle bruising but the Camp Bow Wow owners took it upon themselves to pay for their entire vet visit that included an X-ray, shots and medication. I was happy at first because my puppy was so happy when we got her home. She starting coughing and sneezing after her last visit. Took her to the vet yesterday and she has a nasty case of kennel cough. We did out part and had her vaccinated. I understand things happen.... but maybe they neednto clean better. Im sad cause I won't be bringing my dog back. I don't want to have to pay a 150$ vet bill after each visit. The sad thing was, when my vet asked where she went to play, I told them Camp Bow Wow. I am writing this review to share our honest experience, as I always look at reviews myself. The things I liked about Camp Bow Wow were the cameras to check in on our dog, the staff seemed friendly. We boarded our 9 month old large breed puppy Boxer/Mastiff mix for 10 days. They said there were no instances with him, that he is very playful and he did great. When I picked him up, the attendant said he had a few scratches. She was trying to show me, but he was moving around too much. They said that he lets the other dogs bite on him? and they seemed to know and named one dog that had been biting on him. I understood about a few scratches but I was shocked when I got home and saw several bite marks that were on both sides of his face. You can see the photos. Pics are of one side of his face. At no point was I notified that anything like this had happened. I sent a message to them and they acknowledged that this was not ok for any dog to go home like this, they are teaching their staff to intervene more quickly, and that this was all puppy play, with puppies with sharp teeth. My dog is non aggressive, he's played with several Siberian huskies at the dog park-who sort of bite when they play. Never has he gotten any wounds like this. He certainly must have been yelping/in pain. This is not due to puppy play, it's due to staff letting it happen/not monitoring closely enough. They offered me a free day of play. I told them I feel horrible about what happened to my dog and unfortunately, I have no confidence that they will intervene in the future. In my opinion, there are too many dogs in the space provided at one time, for the large breed dogs. We were three days into a family vacation when we received a voicemail message from Melissa at Camp Bow Wow indicating concern for our dog "Mini Cooper" who had become lethargic and began to vomit blood. As Melissa was unable to reach us, the decision was made by the team at Camp Bow Wow to take "Coop" to a local Veterinary hospital where he received the necessary emergency care that ultimately saved his life. As "Coop" required continued treatment and the local Veterinary hospital was closing for the day, Camp Bow Wow's owner Lisa personally transported our dog to a 24 hour emergency hospital in Murrieta. She remained with "Coop" at the initial veterinary office, completed the transport and again waited at the hospital in Murrieta until she knew he was in good hands. I recieved several calls both from Melissa at Camp Bow Wow and from Lisa with "Coop". Both kept me well informed of his status until we were able to catch the next flight home. Additionally, they took outstanding care of "Mini Cooper's" sister, who remained at Camp Bow Wow and was alone without her big brother for the first time in her life. Had the team at Camp Bow Wow not made the decision to seek immediate treatment for our dog, he would have succumb to his ultimate diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. If I could give negative stars I would. My dogs went here several times and seemed to like it. We however stopped bringing them here last October after our 1 yr American Bulldog was attacked (huge bite on her leg and scratches on her belly) by a Golden Retriever while under their supervision. Our dog trainer later told us that dogs that fight unfairly and go for other dog's legs have some issues and shouldn't be trusted around other dogs. When I asked if the dog that attacked my dog would be banned from coming, they basically said no. Why the heck should we ever come back then!?!? While we were thankful that they picked up the bill for the stitches she needed on her leg it still doesn't compensate us for the post traumatic stress that it has caused her to have. We tried to move her over to Dogtopia but the attack at camp bow wow really messed her up mentally. She failed 2 evaluations there because as soon as the dogs crowded around her she dropped to the ground in fright!! Thanks for nothing Camp Bow Wow and how about you stop sending me emails telling me you miss my dogs and asking why we haven't been back. Just based on a phone call I have to say poor service. Website says accepts difficult dogs and trains but we were refused when we explained our puggle was traumatized by a dog attack as a puppy and we needed to board him for a weekend for travel. Very disappointed in the lack of continuity read more
