Honestly this place is pretty cutesy. The servers are dressed up like they are at a Hawaiian luau and they encourage diners to dress up as well by giving them a free cocktail if they come dressed up. The food is regular restaurant fair. Salads, sandwiches, seafood, Mexican food, and house made desserts. I got the crab cakes to start. Very deep fried. The crab on the inside was actually a dark brown from the oil. Still tasty cause...what is deep fried and DOESN'T taste good. I got the ahi tuna salad for my entree. I really wished they had spring mix or spinach for an option for their salads. The tuna was a good sized portion but it was extremely rare in the middle. I like it that way but others might not so just a warning. Both things tasted MEH....honestly probaby on par with Applebees or some other restaurant chain...nothing special. That is, nothing special until I had their dessert. Best dessert ever. I had the fudgey banana chocolate cake. The chocolate ganache was rich and had a deep chocolate flavor. The banana filler between the layers of the cake was almost pudding like! The cake was moist and the banana sauce that was drizzled over it was creamy and added another sweetness factor to the whole thing. If you do NOT like sugary stuff, skip this..but for my chocolate and dessert loving heart, it was perfect. My advice is to skip the meal and just order dessert to go here. read more

Dinner tonight...it's always so nice to be greeted with a smile that won't quit....very welcoming and two for two on being greeted this way. The great thing about Camp Robber is the vast menu...something for everyone. Tonight we dined on the Orange Ancho Salmon, which was was perfectly prepared. Love that slightly crispy roast from the oven and juicy tender inside. With fresh lemon and orange it was simply delicious with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green and yellow beans, still with a bit of a crunch even after the sauté. My companion had the famous pistachio chicken salad...I had it for lunch earlier in the week....she seemed to enjoys her selection as her plate was pretty much clean. A couple glasses of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and the evening was complete. Heading back to L.A. tomorrow...and will miss Montrose and its cute hometown feel. read more

The fried artichoke hearts were pretty good but a bit too greasy. The rest of my meal... just so so. The level of service also fluctuates visit to visit. I'm never very interested in coming back. Stopped in this place on a Saturday night. Our waitress, was very kind, responsive, and straight to the point. We needed to get in and out, so she helped us out with that. I had the Thai peanut chicken wrap and it was one of the best wraps I've ever had. My boyfriend had the fish and chips. He said they were delicious and fresh. Nate, the manager, was telling us that most of their food is hand-made, including the yummy green chili Asiago starter rolls. I also had a delicious pineapple Chile margarita, which was AMAZING. My wife and I were staying in Montrose and I really wanted to support a local establishment. A place that was owned and run by people that have been part of the community for a long time. Anyone can go to a national restaurant chain whenever, wherever they want, but since local owners and families have had to struggle through these difficult times, its more important to me to make sure they have every opportunity to survive. Camp Robber was fantastic. They let me make a reservation on the phone and seated us the moment we walked in the door. Our server was awesome and pointed out items on the menu that the family had been making and serving for 25 years. My wife had prime rib french dip sandwich and I had blue corn tortilla enchiladas with creamy pasole. Both were excellent, tasted fresh and were very satisfying, but what was really hit, was their deserts. All of the deserts are made in houes and they are fantastic! We ordered peanut butter pie and chocolate raspberry cake. We discovered if you mix a bite of each one together it was like heaven on a fork! If you find yourself in Montrose, you definitely can't go wrong here and more importantly you will be helping a local family and business that has been doing it for a long time! We walked in & immediately felt comfortable. It's clear this establishment is doing everything possible to make customers both welcomed & respected. A hidden gem! I was looking on Yelp for somewhere with a patio that might let us bring our small dog. They were extremely accommodating to our family of six who had just been camping for four days. The food is fresh and everything we had was delicious! I recommend the avocado chicken salad, my husband enjoyed their soup and crab cakes and the kids were happy with their choices as well. I hate to say it but I wasn't impressed at all, I ordered the full order of nachos to split with a friend and they were so dry (shredded cheese no cheese sauce/queso and BLAND, so I ordered green chili sauce to add (since it came with green chilis and that's a whole other issue , it didn't even taste like green chili, it had a very strong Italian oregano seasoning. (No cream) it was made like a Alfredo and this Mgr was telling her off while the cook in the back gave dirty looks needless to say mom did not re order after that non sence loss of appetite, killed the mood, killed it all pathetic¡ I wish I could put no star get a grip lady you need anger mgmt and a coarse on customer service in hospitality... We have been there a couple of times for Sunday brunch. A little slow but good food. Today we took my mom to brunch. Somehow, my plate was "lost". So, I told my husband and mom to eat as nobody likes cold eggs. My plate arrived after hubby and mom were mostly done eating. We got a "sorry about that" but nothing else. I was expecting some kind of compensation for the mistake that was made. Don't know if we will return... In response to Kim V. My plate did not arrive until the rest of the table was almost finished, not within minutes. I did not empty my plate. I ate the chili rellano. When I placed my order I said no beans yet when my plate finally arrived - beans with the eggs on them. I left the beans, an egg and the tortilla on my plate. What a great place! I found this due to the numerous reviews on here and Trip Advisor....all raving about it. This place is worth the stop. I had the chicken potato green chili that was absolutely delicious. Grabbed a quick bite as I passed through Montrose. If ever in the area I would make this my "must stop" and make sure I was hungrier And the outdoor patio was spacious and Covid compliant. I can't really comment on the food/atmosphere, but can't imagine it's too friendly or pleasant based on Kathy's behavior on the phone. I was travelling through Montrose on my way back to Denver after a week of camping, and was looking for a spot for lunch that would allow my smaller dog as well. When I called to verify that she'd be allowed on Camp Robber's patio, Kathy immediately went from pleasant to snarky when asked about dogs, and began listing rules (most of which were common sense). The one that seemed obnoxious was "no barking allowed". My dog is by no means a barker, but all dogs will bark on occasion. Seemed to me that they say they allow dogs for whatever reason, but really aren't dog-friendly and aim to weed out guests with dogs with silly rules and a bad attitude. I totally understand when restaurants/bars don't allow animals, which is why I always call ahead on those that say they do. Just don't advertise that you allow them, then act rudely when people call. Don't allow then if you don't really want them there and save everyone the trouble. read more

Tried to come here on 2 occasions in past month and we have now given up. Came late on a weeknight and staff did the pretend I didn't see you thing as they walked past the host stand for a solid ten minutes. When they finally greeted us they indicated it would be a 45 min wait and there was only one party in line ahead of us. When we said we couldn't wait they happily sent us on our way. It was as if it was a relief for them to send us out the door.. there was no apology, no hope to see you again, nothing but a happy have a great night and gleeful goodbye. There must be a new cook. The green chili potato soup has always been consistent, but the last time it was watery and oily, plus the heat was dialed up to a 9 so my wife couldn't eat it. With the limited menu, we really miss the pistachio crusted pork. It has always been our favorite. Hope you survive the COVID mess, and fix the soup, because this was always our favorite place to eat out in Montrose. Update: Good to know the cook is the same, and super happy the menu is back. Our visit was just over a month ago, and I wrote the draft back then but finally got back to getting it submitted. My hubby and I stopped here for dinner on our way in to Montrose. We had eaten there once before, about a year and a half ago. The atmosphere was very nice. I appreciated our waitress, who was cheerful and very helpful and on top of things. I had the wonderful blue corn enchiladas, with shredded beef and topped by Christmas (a NM style combo of both red and green Hatch Chiles). There were choices for the sides, and I chose the cheesy posole. Oh my. Both the main dish and the side of posole were excellent. Hubby had a chicken quesadilla, which he also enjoyed very much. He chose a sampling of the sides, which included beans, ginger rice and the cheesy posole. Of the three, he also enjoyed the posole the best. Great food, nice place, good staff, fair prices. When I pulled into the parking lot of Camp Robber, there were only two car spaces available, that told me that the food is good. I was thinking that we might have to wait for a table, not at Camp Robber, they have more tables than parking spots. And sure enough, I had the Asian Barbecue Chicken Salad and it was great. The service was excellent and the Camp Robber Manager came by the table and asked if everything was OK and to call upon him at any time. Food was served in a timely manner and waiters kept the water glass filled. Cannot ask for a better lunch experience. read more
