It is currently the month of Ramadan. Which means I am fasting. I don't eat from sunrise to sunset. Which also means that the one meal I have, I really really look forward to :) I'm new in town, and I decided to go to Camp Robber today. The lady from my hotel recommended it as well as a work colleague. I walked in to place an order to go. The lady behind the counter whom I placed my order with, was friendly. I was craving fish and one of my trigger words (I have too many) is cilantro. I decided to get the cilantro pasta with grilled salmon on top. I asked the lady if that would be enough good for one person and I really appreciated her honestly! She said it's more than enough to fill you up and she was right. The portion size is on the larger end but it doesn't lack in quality. It was super yummy! The salmon was tender, the pasta was al dente and the cilantro sauce was perfect. I would highly recommend. On the side I did get a brownie which was also very yummy! I would highly recommend this place. They have plenty of options for all types of diets. For having one meal in a day, this hit the spot. read more

First time eating out (inside) a restaurant in over a year! Had planned to eat on their enclosed patio but it was just too darn cold. Since Montrose County recently turned green and I've had one dose of the vaccine (and husband has had both), we took a chance. Many vegetarian and vegan options which made it difficult to make a decision! Settled in the jack fruit and potato tamales and was not disappointed! Filling but not overly so. Chose the spicier sauce and it added a nice kick. Very flavorful. We split the key lime pie for dessert and it was a nice cooling contrast to my entree. A few diners and staff were still wearing masks. Am I ready to start eating in restaurants all the time again? No but this turned out to be a good re-entry. read more

Love this place, I go here quite frequently! Their salads are probably the best in town (I've had most of them depending on my mood and they are all amazing! When I'm feeling like splurging I'll get their green chili chicken soup that's good as long as you like spicy. Also, their artichoke hearts appetizer is wonderful! It's making my mouth water as I type this! If you are wanting a different appetizer, a side of their fresh house made potato chips are also wonderful! Other entrees that are my favorite are the chipotle steak pasta and their chili rellenos. This is one of the best places in Montrose to eat and they typically have amazing service! Family of 4 came at 6:45pm on a Friday. Plenty of parking seemed like it wasn't too busy. Took a bit to get seated. Then food took forever to come out. One of the meals was totally wrong - ordered a sirloin with the baked potato and got a steak salad with a baked potato on the side. Waters sat empty for at least 10 minutes. Waitress didn't return to check on us until all meals were finished (accept the random salad). Said she would take off the salad but still charged $5 for the baked potato! Having eaten here twice in the past three weeks, the food preparation, taste and presentation were vastly different on each visit. On my first visit, I took my mother here for lunch. We had the street tacos and the chicken salad stuffed avocado. Both entrees were nicely presented, the food tasty and fresh. The service was a bit slow, but considering two servers had a full dining room of customers to deal with, our server was quite attentive. With the second visit, I took three family members to dinner. Two of us had the street tacos and the other two had the chicken fried chicken. Again, the street tacos were nicely presented, tasty and fresh. However, at a cost of $23.50, the chicken fried chicken with yukon gold mashed potatoes and gravy was a big disappointment and way overpriced considering the quantity and quality of food involved. The boneless chicken was an overcooked, glorified small chicken strip topped with gravy, tasteless mashed potatoes and ok asparagus. We would have returned our plates, but since the server looked a bit overwhelmed and took approximately 20 minutes to return to our table for a follow-up check, we decided to eat the meals. Steak pasta was like pasta soup. Very runny sauce. Steak was inconsistent in cook. Ordered med. rare, one end was as ordered, the other was med. well. The steak itself was tough and very salty. Wagu burger, cook was good, the burger itself nothing special, the bun was pale and weird, like a take and bake that didn't get baked. Sweet potato fries, perfect cook on those, however very very salty. Its been years since I've eaten here. This did not make me want to rush back. Service was good. Everything about this experience was five star. We called ahead of time to get on the waitlist and although that's not protocol, they still put us on the list. We were seated immediately, it wasn't even a few minutes before someone came to get our drink order and throughout the entire meal, there were staff members constantly walking through the room, scanning the tables filling our glasses, are drinks were refilled before we even had to ask, and it's impossible to describe how absolutely delicious this food was. Passing through Montrose we looked for a spot that had food for vegans and carnivores. Not sure why we chose camp robber but we did. Pretty basic, not very exciting but got the job done. Driving through on our way back to Denver and decided to stop for lunch based on Yelp reviews. I was a little apprehensive because it looks like a chain, but it's actually the only Camp Robber in the US and family owned. In fact, the owner, Kim,made a point of stopping by and making sure we enjoyed our lunch. She informed us that her husband is the chef and her son the baker! Both the burger and Blue corn enchiladas we got were excellent. The green and red Chile sauces are the chef's mom's recipe. The ciabatta bun on the burger is baked by their son. Everything tasted like it was made with love. The prices are excellent and portions hearty. Additionally, they have a wonderful outdoor space and attentive service. We're definitely impressed Denverites and will make a point to stop by next time we're in Mo-town. read more

This has been a perennial favorite of ours for years, in both the old location downtown and the pretty new spot! Always reliably tasty, priced fair, and when there is time to sit down - great service. Once in a while something will come off the menu that I miss, but then there is the anticipation of something new! Staff has always been polite and professional - it shows that they care about customer experience. Now for a personal recommendation - the Green Chili Chicken Soup is something I order every time, even for carry out! Highly recommended. I love this place so much we came for breakfast a few days after we had dinner here. We came to town from Los Angeles to visit family and were super happy with the flavors these dishes had to offer. "Creative Cuisine" better than calling it fusion. Food is very tasty and good portions. It's not fancy with a big menu and cloth napkins but the food is just as good! There is something on the menu for everyone. Dinner: I got the curry pasta with shrimp and it was amazing. Chocolate crepe brûlée for dessert. Breakfast: we got yummy sweet bread in a basket on Sunday and ordered stacked biscuit. They get real busy. I can see why they are so popular. Stopped here on the way to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We drove 5 hrs from Denver and were starving when we got here. It was prime lunchtime and thr place was packed. The temperature in the restaurant was perfect (not freezing), the music was light and carefree, we got there early so no wait and the overall restaurant was quiet. My husband enjoyed the Mexican Lager and I had a glass of 14 hands Chardonnay - can't go wrong. I had the house salad with cilantro lime dressing - perfect! The house bread was delicious!! Had a little flavor to it and was warm and soft. My husband had the shrimp and Avocado Quesadilla - he said it was better than mine... Which is great, it should be! I came here with a friend for lunch post-hike out on the patio. It is a nice big patio with cover and a fence, so no need to worry about too much sun or the elements.
