Whoever wrote the review that said this place had the best lasagne they'd eaten in ten years, I'm assuming you've been eating at Olive Garden for a decade? Literally everything we ordered (this was for delivery), was garbage. The lasagne had more salt in it than the dead sea and was basically inedible. It made Stouffer's look like gourmet cuisine. The Rigatoni was beyond bland, and again over salted. The Caesar was no better than something you get out of a salad kit in the grocery store. The Beef and Pork Meatballs were dry and tasteless and the Tuscan Green Kale was awful. How on earth did this place get 4 stars? Wild. read more

Second time here and the food is out of this world but the service is well below average. This experience had an even worse server than last time. Iacov is a real sweet boy but I do not think he has the disposition to be a great waiter. Now it could be that the manager, named Gee, did not make sure the new waiter was trained correctly or just does not know how to judge who will be a good waiter. The waiter appeared to be scared of the manager and did not tell Gee about the problem we had about the way the waiter didn't request our food to be prepared without tomato's and didn't have the dish remade but only tomato's were removed but tomato juice still there. I love the vibe of this restaurant. It's in a little house and is super cute and has a nice patio dining area for when the weather is nice. Campagnolo has always been on my list of Midtown restaurants I've wanted to try, especially because it's Italian. I noticed the restaurant was in my Dining Out Atlanta coupon book so we headed there to grab a bite to eat after an afternoon in Midtown. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday evening. We were seated near the kitchen by the window. It was actually a pretty private area which was nice, although so many people walked through/by. We ordered some calamari (fritto misto di mare) to start with, which was a little disappointing. It was actually very insta-worthy but it wasn't the crispy chewy calamari I was hoping for. It lacked the seasoning unless you dipped it in the provided sauce. I ordered the chicken piccata, which was also a little bland. I do like the angel hair thin spaghetti but the tomato and chicken on top was bland. Just a little disappointing because it looks pretty good! Overall, I felt like Campagnolo was a bit over-hyped for me. I wonder if it was just a fluke, but based on more recent reviews, it may not have just been one down night. read more

This past Saturday, April 11th, 2020 was "Yelp's Big Night In," an official Yelp event that encouraged Yelpers around the country to support their local restaurant communities by ordering takeout or delivery, sharing pictures of their meals, and writing reviews to get the word out. Even though dining rooms are closed, restaurants are still open for takeout and delivery. For this event, I decided to support Campagnolo in Midtown Atlanta. This restaurant has been in my Yelp bookmarks for years and we don't live too far away from it. Their to-go menu looked great. Campagnolo is an Italian restaurant on Piedmont Ave and it's owned by the same person as Henry's Midtown Tavern, just around the corner, on 10th St. I believe Campagnolo opened in 2012. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Henry's temporarily closed and a special menu serving the cuisine of both Henry's and Campagnolo, is currently being served out of the Campagnolo restaurant. I posted the special takeout-only menu here on Yelp (https://bit.ly/2K0iYns) and you can check it out on Campagnolo's website too (https://bit.ly/3cd9Xng). I called in our order, paid in person (payment over the phone was an option as well), and our food was promptly ready for pick-up in about 15 minutes. Quick. There were two employees working the front of the house, a lady working at the bar (who took my order) and a gentleman who looked like a manager. They were both kind, polite, and made sure I got everything I needed. Campagnolo's current takeout menu offers a decent variety of pastas and Italian entrees. This place is on the pricier side for takeout, but keep in mind it is a nicer restaurant. Starters are in the $10-19 range, salads $8-12, pastas $17-20, and entrees $20-29. In addition, like other restaurants, they are presently offering family-size meals such as pasta at $60-90 and salads at $25 or $45 (each feeds 4-6 adults). Also, they're selling their bolognese ($19) and pomodoro ($11) pasta sauces to take home. We ended up making a date night out of Campagnolo's to-go menu and ordered: * Antipasti Platter ($19) - selection of The Spotted Trotter cured meats and local cheeses, traditional garnish * Orecchiette ($18) - house fennel sausage, broccoli rabe, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan * Pork Chop ($28) - bone-in chop, roasted green apples, fingerling potatoes, hard cider jus Overall, we thought the food was A-OK. It looked terrific - just take a look at my photos. By far our favorite dish was the Antipasti Platter. You can't go wrong with The Spotted Trotter. We got three types of cured meats from them and they were absolutely delectable. High quality, rich mouthfeel, and very satisfying. The platter also came with three kinds of cheese - one hard, one soft, and blue cheese (mild) - all delicious. I'm generally not a fan of blue cheese, but I was surprisingly fond of this particular one. It wasn't too sharp/pungent. The traditional garnish consisted of sweet-glazed Marcona almonds (very good) and pickled veggies -- okra and green beans. Yum. There was wonderful, chewy, sliced grilled bread served on the side too. The Orecchiette was fine. What I liked most about this pasta was the house fennel sausage. It was tasty. Herby, soft, and appetizing. The overall portion size of this dish was generous. The other ingredients, particularly the cherry tomatoes, were fresh and flavorful. To me, this dish was comfort food. It served its purpose. I have to admit, the two of us were underwhelmed with the Pork Chop. The quality wasn't there. While the meat looked fantastic, especially those grill marks, it tasted old and dry. To our disappointment, something was off. I'm not a picky eater and can finish off most anything, but unfortunately not this pork chop. The roasted green apples, fingerling potatoes, and hard cider jus were good; it was just the meat that was bad. I did like how the chef incorporated green apples into this dish for some different flavor (acidic) and texture. Each dish was served in its own clear plastic container with snap-shut lid. In the Antipasti Platter, the bread was served in a smaller, separate container from the rest of the platter. Everything was presented well and packed to-go securely in large brown paper bags. As mentioned previously, I called ahead and went inside to pay. I waited a few minutes inside for them to complete my order. This is an elegant-casual restaurant with a 10-seat bar and a fairly spacious dining room. They've got a small, pleasant, string-lit patio facing Piedmont too. I'm not sure what the parking situation is like during normal, non-pandemic times, but there was plenty of free parking in a surface lot behind the restaurant during our visit. There are two entrances to the lot, one via Piedmont (one-way) and one via 10th St. We entered and exited via 10th St. If you enter via 10th, you'll pull in right next to popular Zocalo Mexican Kitchen and Cantina. This restaurant has a great location on top of convenient parking in the rear of the building. Found this place while looking for great Eats when family came into town. This quaint little spot offers up authentic fresh Italian meals. All pastas are made from scratch and are absolutely delicious. The muscles taste as if they just came out of the ocean and the calamari was so fresh that it melt in your mouth like butter. We decided to stop by and sit outside for a glass of wine since the weather was gorgeous. Nice patio seating area and it seems like everyone is trying to take advantage of the spring evenings before it gets too hot! There was seating available and we did not have to put our name down or call ahead (Sunday evening). We decided to pair our drinks with the mussels..and boy, these mussels in white wine and herb cream sauce...absolutely fantastic!! I would come back JUST for the mussels. I am an average-sized woman (5'6", wears medium), I don't need huge portions to fill up but I needed more than the portions here. The staff was extremely friendly. The portion sizes have decreased a bunch. You can't raise prices and decrease portions because the regulars know. The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is OK, and it can be very very loud at times. Something is wrong here. This restaurant is just not as busy as it used to be. Went here for a quick solo dinner. I can say it was really busy for a Wednesday night. I definitely had to wait to be seated & I waited a long time to actually get a waiter to service me so long that the host felt bad and took my order himself. I had about 4 different people come to my table before I was assigned an actual server. When I did eventually get to order I was over it. My drink was pretty good but my bolognese was more warm than hot. It was good nonetheless. I sat outside which the weather was nice out & they had the tiki fires lit so that was nice for the ambiance. We came here on a Sunday and luckily had a reservation. It was a nice evening so the patio was full and so was the inside. Our reservation was for the inside so we were seated in the hallway right next to the kitchen. It was not the best view and we did not have a window either. It felt kind of like a dungeon where we were. We started with the beef and pork meatballs as an appetizer. They were really good and probably the highlight of the meal. They did the combination of beef and pork very well. For my entree, I had the squid ink pasta. I am not sure if it was intentional, but the dish was served room temperature, not hot at all. Finally got the opportunity to try out Campagnola last night and it was amazing! We were in the mood for Italian and this restaurant has been in my Atlanta dining passbook for quite sometime so we finally gave it a try. We arrived around 8:45PM, had a reservation (highly recommend) and was seated right away. It was pretty loud as they had a piano player and singer, but the entertainment was amazing! We were seated right about side of the kitchen and could see how quickly and efficient they were with preparing the food. The chef even came out, sat at our table and walked through several questions I had and personal recommendations of his own. We had the meatballs for an appetizer which were great! They were served over an Italian style grits which was unique, yet tasty. I had the short rib which was served over the grits and it was tasty! Very tender, flavorful and filling. My wife had the Bolognese which also was very good! For drinks I had the Manhattan which was served martini style and was really good! Overall, this place is very good and we definitely will return. Valet parking was simple and convenient and we had a great experience here. This place used to be so amazing. It's still good but the food just doesn't hit like it used to. Kind of sad because I used to rave about this restaurant. They still have a lot of the same dishes but now they are either too salty or not seasoned enough, it just seems like the recipes have either changed or aren't being followed correctly. Overall Campagnolo is a Midtown gem. Great location, friendly servers and pretty decor all make it a reliable spot for brunch, lunch and dinner. Since my best pal and I walked over for brunch this past Sunday, I've a few quibbles to report (you knew that was coming). First, the good: delicious mimosas, $4 refills and a creative touch. Mine had mango puree and it was dee-lish. We asked to sit in the booth section which is private and chill (highly recommended). We started with watermelon-arugula salad which was good but there wasn't enough of it for $12. dressing needed more acid and salt, too. For our main courses I had eggs bennie with actual bacon not that gross Canadian ham; my pal had a mushroom frittata. His dish also desperately needed salt and seasoning. My eggs bennie was good--as were the crispy potatoes--but the bread/toast they served it on was so tough I literally had to muscle-knife each bite (eventually gave up and ate with my fingers). As such the dish had the texture of a shingle while still having decent flavor; I'd have liked to have more of the delicious red pepper sauce. Our service dropped off at the end and we were left hanging a bit, with empty water glasses, too. But I still love my Camp and will go back; hopefully these points will help improve brunch which already has distinct high points. Before I get emails about hating on Canada I love our Northern brothers and sisters... I just strongly rebuke use of word "bacon" when describing a half-cooked slab of ham. read more

I went to Campagnolo at the end of October for my friend's birthday. We went fairly early (before 7:00) and pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. My friend ordered the salmon with saffron couscous and I ordered the lasagna. I also ordered a lovely Chianti (which should always be paired with lasagna.) The photo is not the actual food we had because we had an accident and that food was ruined. I was sad because LOOK AT THE CHEESE ON MY PLATE. The second serving did not look as cheese-a-licious, and I was bummed. I won't get into the details of why we had to get a second serving of our food. In short, our server was being a bit extra with his help and caused an accident. Luckily, no one was hurt and we are not crazy litigious people so we moved to another table and continued with our evening. My friend really loved his salmon. He's a picky eater and I was concerned that he would not like the flavor of the saffron, but he loved every bite. I was also in love with the lasagna. The bechamel was perfect and did not break at all. It was also the right amount, so as to not overpower the marinara and the pasta. I loved the lasagna and would definitely order it again and again. We had dessert because it was my friend's birthday - the almond cake for him and the chocolate cake for me. He loved the almond cake and I loved the chocolate cake. Overall, the meal was a total winner. I think we would have loved it just as much even if it hadn't been comped (and it was because of the accident.) My friend and I came with the Dining Out passbook and it was the perfect place for a girls' night dinner. It has a fabulous (heated) patio with string lights that is just the best when the weather is nice. We got the arancini which was good, but kind of a small portion at 3 arancini's for $10. For our entrees, my friend got the lasagna and I got the mushroom pasta. The entrees were huge portions and very filling. My pasta was very rich and heavy on the gorgonzola, and though good, I think I would try something else next time. We did get some cocktails and they were very reasonably priced for Midtown at $12 each. I had a pear martini and it was good and strong.
