Campania (named for the region on the southwestern boot where Naples is located), is a successful Staten Island kitchen which has expanded to three stores and serves a broad array of dishes, and especially thin crust wood coals burning oven pizza. On a perfect late August Sunday that felt more like late September, we stopped in for a mid afternoon lunch. We ordered two small pies, Rustica (tomato sauce, mozzarella, crumbled sausage, caramelized onion, roasted peppers and pecorino) and Ortalano (T. sauce, mozza, portobello, artichoke and spinach). They were both thin crusted, crisp undercarriage, and delicious first bite to last. At $17 and $20 for 12" pies, they better be good; and they were exactly why I drove up from Philly for the local take on Italian bites. The room was dark hued wood all around, with long bar against one wall. Service was friendly and efficient with appropriate follow up. If the apizza was that on point, I have to wonder what they do with the other traditional Italian standards. That discovery awaits another day. Five easy pizzas! read more

My wife and I ate here last night and the food was amazing as usual. I had the Italian egg roll and the rigatoni pomadoro. My wife had garlic knots and penne vodka. We got a pizza with a pasta calzone. It wasn't on the menu but they were happy to make it for us anyway, which we absolutely loved about their service. The place is very nice & they seated us (party of 6) very quickly in the early evening. The pizza with the pasta calzone was delicious but we do wish they put a little but more toppings on the pizza. Our party really enjoyed the food but unfortunately two of the four felt the pasta dishes weren't as big as they would have liked for the price of them. Ultimately we enjoyed this place! read more

Delicious dinner and night out for a friend's birthday. I had the Americana sandwich which is chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, & vodka sauce- MY FAVORITE!!! The bread for the sandwich was great and I like how they gave extra vodka sauce on the side so I didn't need to ask for more. The side salad was phenomenal, I'm not sure what the dressing is but it is so flavorful and light. The dessert was the lava cake that they presented so nicely writing happy birthday for my friend. The service was great too. The only downfall about this place is the parking, Richmond ave has no parking and the lot in the back is very small. They do offer valet which is great but some people do not like to valet. Great experience at campania!! I am coming back for this sandwich! read more

I recently ordered the individual Sunday sauce entree. It comes with Meatballs, Sausage, Pork Braciole, Tomato Sauce over rigatoni and is served with a side of Fresh Ricotta. I also ordered the banana bread pudding with a wonderful banana ice cream topping. Both were delicious and very filling. At 28 for the entree and another 10 for the dessert I felt like the price was fair considering the amount they give you and the quality. I ordered directly from their website and delivery was fairly quick and very courteous. The deliverer went out of his way to mention that there was a separate cup of the ice cream to put over the bread pudding so I would know to freeze it right away. I will definitely be ordering from them again. Next time I may try one of their pizzas. read more

Celebrated a birthday at Campania over the weekend. This location has a larger seating area. Our service was beyond excellent (I think the server's name was Ken?) he really went above and beyond. Went there with family Friday night for dinner. We were a party of 14 and they gave us a large table in a side room. It was very nice. Waiter was very good , and then you had a lot of lovely options to choose from. Apps were good. We chose the family style apps and they were yummy but they should have been a little bigger considering what they were charging. Pizza was delicious. We had three types, eggplant margherita and Calabrian. It was cooked perfect and had a nice crispy crust. For dessert we opted for Nutella pizza that was just delicious. This place has top notch service. There is parking in the back and we were seated immediately. They have a variety of drinks to choose from the bar as well as non-alcoholic options. The main dish was a traditional 16 inch sausage and pepperoni pizza. It had a nice crunchy thin crust. The sauce had great flavor too. Lastly we had tiramisu for desert and I love the design they had on the plate. That was the finishing touch. When we asked for the check please beware that there is a cash and a credit price. We ordered a few pies and drinks for everyone and the coal fired make a nice difference in the taste. We tried the margarita, square and pepperoni and they all were very good. Went with a group of 7 for lunch and was so excited to see a traditional Sunday Meat Pasta. Nothing beats a slow cooked tomato sauce with tons of different meats. When the dish arrived, it did not disappoint. Full of meatballs, sausage and other traditional meats PLUS a side of ricotta cheese. It was so good. Other dishes we tired were the house salad, penne with a vodka sauce and out course some pizza. The service was excellent as always and they make you feel like a regular. My friends and I visited Campania for the first time this evening. Fantastic! The vibe is like going to your favorite uncle's house, who has the game on, and is cooking your favorite meal... very welcoming. Ken was our server. He was very personable, funny, and witty. We had a person in our party who has a gluten sensitivity, and Ken was very attentive in making the kitchen aware of the need and easing the concern of the sensitive person that there would be no cross contamination. Dinner last night was six people with a good mix of different things. They give a basket of warm bread with caponata that was delicious. We shared baked clams, fried calamari and a pot of mussels in white sauce. Chicken Valdostana, homemade Cavatelli with grilled chicken added, Linguine with clams, Rigatoni Pomadoro, Chicken Malfadine and soft shell crabs which was an appetizer but served as dinner Franchese style with linguine. We didn't wait long for our food, and everything was delicious. We loved the Lombarda pizza. Definitely recommend that if you haven't had it before. Our waiter was prompt, polite, and very helpful.
