He has allergies and loved the fries. The service was great, very nice and attentive. They explained the specials today and made sure we were taken good care of. We initially wanted desert and coffee, but the portions were so big we already were satisfied. We got a little treat on the house, coffee ice cream with whip cream on it, a dream! Hidden Gem with a Chopped Champion in the Kitchen! I had such an amazing dining experience at EAT Italian in Staten Island, and was absolutely thrilled to learn that the chef is a Chopped champion--he won Season 13, Episode 1! That alone sets the tone for a meal that's about to impress--and it certainly did. We started with an incredible spread of appetizers: * A perfectly seasoned stuffed artichoke * The crispiest mozzarella in carrozza * Golden, savory potato croquettes * And my personal favorite--baked clams--which were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The steak sliders were juicy and tender, the pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs hit all the right notes of classic comfort, and the linguine with clam sauce and crab meat was an absolute standout--rich, briny, and full of fresh seafood flavor. Don't "eat italian" Our appetizer was cold as if it came out of a refrigerator. The bread they brought to the table was stale, hard as a rock. My husband ordered the steak special (which we didn't know until we got the bill was $48) and he said it tasted like it was seasoned with store bought steak sauce. My chicken scarpiello tasted like a bottle of vinegar. The vegetables it came with were frozen veggies mixed with fresh. We both have had diarrhea for the past 24 hours. I do not recommend! Let me start by saying the service was outstanding. Our waitress was wonderful. That being said, most of the food was meh. The salad with the goat cheese and beets was a standout - it was wonderful with a great dressing. But the pasta with grilled chicken was not very tasty. Portions were huge- so that's a good thing if that's what you're looking for. I would rather have a delicious meal with less food than a huge mediocre one. We were so disappointed with the stuffed artichokes which were hard and overly stuffed with soggy breadcrumbs and cheese. We took them to go, to try to cook further at home. The food here is absolutely delicious. It's one of my favorite Italian restaurants on Staten Island. But I have to say when I came here the other day I was disappointed when I saw the bill. My partner ordered a normal chicken Parmesan dinner but instead of regular sauce he requested vodka sauce, and instead of potato croquet and veggies he got pasta- the additional charges for a sauce change and pasta is quite ridiculous. The regular chicken Parmesan with veggies and potato croquet is $24, his meal came out to $37. I was told the pasta charge is $6 and the rest was the vodka sauce which is $7. $7 for vodka sauce???? $6 for pasta???? That is outrageous. My friend also ordered one of the specials which was spaghetti, Kalamata olives, & jumbo shrimp in regular marinara sauce. It was $45 and we didn't know till the bill came. This dish was not worth $45. There was maybe 5 or 6 shrimps in her pasta but besides the shrimp the pasta was a pretty simple dish. It's ridiculous to up-charge a meal because it's a "special." But I do really love the food here, but i definitely had a disappointing visit. read more

The food has always been excellent and the entire staff, from the hostess to the wait staff and even the busboys have been super friendly and extremely competent in their service. It just diddnt hit . It diddnt do it for me. Really hurts to say this because the people were nice and it looked like a family place. But eh. Service was good, decker was cool. Drinks were good and cold and the prices were reasonable. With that said, the salad was really tasty and that was where it ended. The pizza was burned( instant dry pussy) ! Also they had a sweet -ish sauce on there that wasn't good. There's 1000 pizza joints in Staten Island I would rather go to . I've eaten at Eat Italian frequently because the food is usually pretty good and the staff always goes above and beyond, so we were excited to cater for a birthday celebration we were having at our home a few days afterwards. We ordered several dishes in addition to a FULL tray of chicken wings which cost $85. Upon bringing the food home we opened the tray of wings to find that there were only 30 wings in the FULL size tray!!! I immediately called the restaurant because, of course, this had to be a mistake!! I was told that a full tray comes with 30 wings and that it was written on the menu when we placed the order. I quickly looked up the menu and searched to where it indicated the price and quantity of a HALF tray and a FULL tray of wings. It did not indicate the quantity of wings that were included!!! I was extremely embarrassed to serve these wings to my guests of 35 people!!! I have included pictures of the wings and of the menu! I will NEVER cater from Eat Italian again! read more

Margarita pizza wasn't great. Rice ball wasn't great. Stuffed artichoke was good. Cold antipasto was very good. Nice selection of meat. Mozz cheese was delicious My soft shell crab was good. Nice that you can have it prepared any way you wish. Shrimp and salmon (together) was salty. I was told the pork chop was good. My side rigatoni was cooked perfectly but it may be too al dente for some. I requested a red sauce but it was just eh Best part was desert. We ordered what they called beignets but they aren't. They were cream filled pastry topped with gelato. Delicious never the less The Nutella filled pastry was also amazing. A large order. Good cappuccino. Good service. Eat Italian has a cozy dining area, and though it serves Italian food, it felt more authentic than the many, many, MANY fellow Italian restaurants across Staten Island. Striving less for fancy and more for authentic, the restaurant has a small family owned feel. I haven't been to Italy in more than a few years, but the specific recipes on the menu were ones more typical of a restaurant in Milan than one on Hylan boulevard. The pizzas were personal sized, offering a variety including Buffalo mozzarella and arugula, more classic Italian dishes like chicken Milanese, and some American varieties (I personally got a burger, but there is something for everyone!) The food was good, definitely on the pricy side (a penne vodka with chicken with cost you well into the $20's while I got the same dish in Jersey for $18) but we enjoyed the meal overall. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We had four apps, a pizza, 2 desserts and specialty coffees. The stuffed figs were outrageous but for fifteen dollars I would have liked a few more in the portion. The grilled calamari with octopus had a nice char and flavor. The stuffed artichoke had lots of stuffing and reminded me of my grandmothers. By the time our pizza came I was feeling full. The pizza had buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula, and procioutio. The cheese was creamy and the combination worked well. For dessert, we ordered the stuffed donut which was not a winner. The donut was not airy enough and was a little hard. The mousse cake was very good along with my sherkato( a shaken double expressi drink). I loved the airy ness of the restaurant and the covered outdoor space. I would definitely return. read more

Yummy casual Italian on SI. I stopped in here for a casual dinner with a friend and was pleasantly greeted by the hostess. We were seated immediately in the front area which faces the shopping center. I was really happy to see that the tables were placed 6ft. or more apart as well. We went a little overboard and ordered 2 apps, 2 mains, and a massive dessert to split. For the first app, we went with the Burrata platter which comes with prosciutto, peppers, and zucchini. This was so good and the portion was gigantic. We also ordered the Calamari E Polipo. The octopus was SUPER tender and had some awesome grill marks on it. The calamari was a bit tough (but I still ate it, duh). I went with a Margherita Pizza since I was craving it and I think it was perfect for sharing. We also ordered the Pappardelle with Short Ribs which I only could handle 2 forkfuls of since I was getting so full. I expected this to have a tomato-based sauce and was happily surprised to see it done differently. Definitely wish I had left more room for this. At this point I didn't want dessert because I was ready to roll out of there, but we ordered the Cream Puffs which were stuffed with vanilla ice cream instead of cream. I don't like cream puffs to begin with so not sure why I okay'ed this decision. I'd skip this next time and save more room for pasta. Service was fast and friendly. Eat Italian is snuggled up in the corner of Woodrow Shopping Center. When walking in, its elegantly/ industrial decorated with wood paneling and graffiti esk wall paper on the left. They have indoor and out door seating in the warm weather. We sat down indoors and was handed a very large menu! They told us a few specials and walked away. We were told They have a Sunday sauce special. This is great for people who want sauce on Sunday and don't want to make it. We perused the very large ornate menu and decided on a few apps and an entree to share. The salad we ordered was the Giardino. It had beets and mozzarella with a beautiful light dressing. It was also suppose to have kale and it was missing! We added grilled chicken. This salad was rather large and could be shared as an app for two people or one person for lunch. I thought this was a great salad. We ordered the eggplant caponata. It came with three toast rounds. I found this to be to little for the large dish of caponata. I also thought this should be a "vegetable" caponata because it had carrots, zucchini and whole olives. It also was extremely oily. I wasn't in love with this dish. We also had the tuna with veg. Here's where things went a little south. The Tuna was extremely dry even when it was medium (pink in the middle). The "balsamic glaze was balsamic dressing". The string beans were freshly frozen and defrosted! They added sautéed garlic for good measure. The potato croquet was amazingly fried and delicious. The other veggies on the plate was fresh and delicious. Just a question, Why give me frozen veggies? It fresh string beans so expensive? Are they that hard to prep and prepare? We also ordered clams with crab meat over linguine to go. The clams were super well done and dry. The sauce though was tasty! Staff here is inconsistent. We waited for our main course after our waitress came back from her scheduled "break". It had to be over 20 mins. She said someone else would check on us and never did! Also, I noticed something I have been questioning. Instead for throwing out the bread we didn't eat on our table they put it in a frig like area. Do they re use it? I'm Def questioning eating table bread here. Im on the fence to try Eat Italian again. I might choose better food options. I also hope I will come when there isn't any breaks scheduled. Saturday Night I had my son's 30th surprise birthday dinner at Eat Italian. There were 21 people and one toddler. The selection of dishes that we had to choose from as fantastic. The service was also excellent. We weren't rushed at all and our waiters timed everything perfectly. Everyone was extremely happy with the choices that they made and there wasn't one problem with anything. The portions were also very large and almost everyone took home leftovers. We did have our own cake but we had a few orders of their zeppoles that every person in the room raved about. Everything was perfect. I also have to thank Rosa for helping me put this dinner together. Her suggestions and overall help was very much appreciated. Rosa really knows how to bring everything together. We had lasagna that was good but smothered in cheese and sauce almost like soup, the steak was good and cooked well but to many jalapeños that made it overpowering hot!
