I agree with all the 1 and 2 star reviews of the service department. Nicki, the scheduler, was the only bright spot and there was nothing she could do about the quality of the service. Mike did the 45 point inspection on our 16 ft Coachman clipper. He acted like he was doing me a favor even being there that day and when I tried asking questions... glad he didn't have a gun. I also paid for a trailer orientation, since we haven't been out in over a year. That consisted of him asking me over and over... so what do you want to know and me trying to think of what I should be asking him. I just had the service 3 days ago and I'm already searching on line for a new service center for next time. Wouldn't go there again unless I had to. read more

Depressing - PLEASE READ Arrived there Tuesday afternoon, October 2nd, 2012 for a 1:00 appointment for the install of a tire pressure monitoring system. I drove my RV in and went to the waiting room, which has a view of the RV garage. I asked if I could also have 3 Max-Air II vent covers installed while they were already working on it and how long it would take if they could. He (Max?) said 'yeah, probably about :20, I'll check with them'. After a visit outside he took three Max-Air II vents out and placed them on a rolling scaffold next to my rig in bay 4. Two hours later (3:00) the required tire pressure monitoring system has been installed and my RV was left to sit for the next :20. No vents. After I sat there for the :20 a clerk got me and said 'I guess it's done, let's settle up - so we did. During my 2 hour sit I listened to a few interesting things - 1. Ed, behind the counter and answering phones, referred at least two calls for RV service to a RV repair facility on Almaden in San Jose, saying 'we don't do that'. 2. I asked for 2 quotes, one for a DirecTV - Sattelite/TV install with Jensen TV ($2,600), one for a Rearview back-up monitor ($1,600). The problem?? These guys were DONE at 3:00. They easily could have installed my vent covers if they were willing to work after 3, but they didn't. My RV was empty and nobody around when I went to drive my RV out, someone could have been there at least to show me what they had done. As I backed out of bay #4 some guy was rolling up hoses and getting ready to go home (in another 2 hours). I warned him to get out of the way, he gave me a vacant look and wandered off. I would have spent over $4,000 there if the staff would have given me a chance, but they really weren't interested in doing that much work - so I'll go somewhere else. Maybe the place in San Jose that Ed was referring others to? My overall impression was that the owner/manager is not involved/on site much, and the children are running the place - and more interested in avoiding work than selling products or making the absentee owner/manager money. read more

This place sucks, so please read this in its entirety. I purchased my first RV in January 2010. I had been passing Camping World in San Martin for years while I commuted on Hwy. 101 between Watsonville and San Jose, and figured I should visit their store. Upon my first visit, my wife and I purchased a few items, and the middle-aged woman at the cash register talked us into purchasing a President's Club Super Saver Card. On one of my subsequent visits to the San Martin Store, I was shopping for a Honda Portable Generator, which is not a cheap purchase by any stretch of the imagination. Not only was it difficult to find someone to help me, but the salesperson I got had significantly less knowledge of the product than I found on-line. The Honda website directed me to contact my local Honda dealer for information, but the Camping World representative displayed little knowledge or interest in helping me with the information I needed. I ended up doing my own research on line, and ordering the generator from another company that offered much better customer service and lower prices. After purchasing the generator, we had a winter camping trip planned that would involve some rain. The Honda website directed me to address my questions to a certified trained Honda dealer (Camping World is on that list) who could answer any questions for me. I called Camping World in San Martin to ask about the Honda generator's tolerance to rain exposure and whether I could run the generator in my truck's camper shell to shield it from the rain. The man they put on the phone said he didn't know the answer to my question, since they mainly deal with RV's that have on-board generators. Some certified Honda Portable Generator dealer! I ended up calling a Honda Corporation representative in the southern U.S., and the man gladly gave me the information I needed. So what good was Camping World??? Most recently, I was washing my RV, and I accidently broke off the end of the external drain hose for the refrigerator. I stopped by Camping World to find out how I could add a piece of hose to make up for what broke off. I approached two young women at the cash register who had no idea what I was talking about, so they summoned the middle-aged woman who had sold me the Super Saver Card. She told me she could not answer my question since she does not own an RV (I thought that was her profession?), so she called some guy from the shop. The guy came up front and stood at the opposite end of the counter from me (probably 20 feet away), and the middle-aged lady acted as the go-between, who conveyed to me that the guy said that I could go through their garbage pile to find a piece of hose to use for my repair. No suggestion regarding how I could make the repair. At the same time, I was waiting at the counter for someone who could help me to ring up a purchase on some other stuff. Eventually, this very nice guy with white hair and a white beard came to the counter who asked if I needed help. He addressed and solved my broken refrigerator hose question, rang up my purchase, and effectively diffused my anger. The man was a saint, and should be paid top dollar to train the rest of the San Martin Camping World idiot staff on the subject of customer relations. He is the only reason I did not give this Camping World store 1 star. I don't know about the other Camping World stores, but I hope the company listens to my concerns and the concerns of others. For the most part, this San Martin group is a dysfunctional family. I agree with others that if you can fulfill your RV needs at Walmart, you are one step ahead of the game. read more

Should have know it was a bad idea to bring our RV here for service as soon as we arrived. There were people standing around looking lost because no one would help them. One lady said to me "it's like Home Depot, they walk past you like you are invisible". When we finally got someone to help us check in, we were told it would be $129 for the LP inspection and they would call as soon as the inspection was done. We specifically told them that we were having issues with the fridge when it was on the LP setting. Our appointment was for 3:30 but we told them we would drop it off in the AM on Friday and pick up it up Sat. They even called and asked us to bring it in at 1:30 so they would have more time. We got there at 11:30 AM (but that's a whole other story). Needless to say we never heard back from anyone on Friday, so we finally called at 4:15 to check status and were told "they were working on it" and someone would call back. At 4:45 we called again and were told that everyone "had gone home". We called again the next day at 9 AM and were told again they were testing it and would call to let us know if they found anything. Finally at 2 a tech called and said that there was a small leak, but they had taken care of it and that the regulator was on "backwards" so they fixed it. Never told us how much it would be or asked permission to do more work. When we asked if they were able to trouble shoot the fridge problem, the tech said he knew nothing about, even though it was written on the original work order. We asked him to check it since that was why we brought it in. He called back and said, yes there was a sensor that was out, but he would have to order it. We told him we were coming to pick it up and didn't want to leave it another night. As we left Salinas to pick up the RV, Nikki called and asked us to give her a credit card payment so that they could leave the RV in the parking lot for us with keys. She told us the bill was $350! When we asked her to explain the additional charges, she said $129 for the inspection, $129 for the regulator and $129 for the gas leak. $129 seems to be a consistent number for them. When we told her that no one had ever called and given us a quote for the additional charges she seemed confused. We asked if they replaced any parts, she said no it was all labor but that they replaced the regulator? When we asked why we weren't charged for a regulator since they charged us to replace it, she put us on hold. After 10 minutes of hold time, the phone disconnected. By the time we got there, they managed to add another $50 bucks for the regulator to the bill. After $445, the fridge still doesn't work on propane. Will never go back. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered a $2,000 tow dolly and paid 200.00 freight to have it delivered. I needed this item by a reasonable date. After 2 weeks of waiting and calling them 5 times in which they never called me back. They canceled the order and didn't even have the courtesy to call me. The best thing I can say about this place is they saved us a bunch of money, BY NOT TAKING THE TIME TO HELP US WITH A WATER PROBLEM! Very simple fix for them in reality, for a 5 minute fix, easily would have spent $175.00 there. Fixed it for $1.50, and the kindness of a stranger in a Lowes parking lot! I'm mobility handicapped and my wife was unsure and didn't want to break it. We have been met with more bad customer service in California and Camping World. Was on vacation at an RV park nearby and wanted a bike rack for my motorhome. Talked to a Mark who helped narrow my search. He didn't know if they had the bike rack in stock, so he took my number to call me back. Later, another guy named Ed called me back and said it was available and they could install it the next day at 10:30. We made an appointment and all my Good Sam info was taken. Drove about 20 minutes to Camping World and when I got there, no one knew anything. No appointment, they didn't even know if they had the bike rack in stock. Neither Mark or Ed was man enough to admit to talking to me or to say they "forgot" to input my appointment in the computer. Wanted to make me think I made up the whole thing. When they called to check inventory on the bike rack and the "girl" that handles that wasn't in. I walked out in disgust. Wasted a half a day of vacation dealing with their incompetence. This place is horrible! They "fixed" a leak on the roof of our RV, but it was not at all fixed as we found out the first time it rained. We asked them to redo the leak "fix" when we got back home. The manager questioned us claiming we couldn't know that the leak had not been fixed as it has not rained! On California's Central Coast, yes, but we had our rig on vacation...it actually does rain in other parts of the country! They "fixed" a minor electrical issue but damaged our RV's electrical door locks in the process of making that repair. They told us our RV was ready, but when we came to pick it up from over one hour away, the minor issue they were "fixing" was not fixed at all. These guys are full of excuses for why they can't get the job done right and think nothing of wasting your time as you have to keep going back for them to try to do the job correctly. Save yourself a headache and find someone else to do your RV repairs. read more

The 3 service people (behind the service counter) were talking to each other, not about work by the sound of it. We stood there waiting, they barely looked at us, and kept talking. Being relatively new to the RV scene (we just purchased a used Casita travel trailer), we thought it would be a good idea to have the wheel bearings re-packed with brake inspection included since it was a used trailer but in excellent condition. We recently joined Good Sam Club which entitles you to discounts on both parts, equipment and services. My girlfriend called and schedule the appointment for me to bring the trailer down. I arrive about 15 minutes early for a 1:30pm appointment and there is no one at the service counter. Finally after waiting about 10 minutes someone arrives back from their lunch break and gets me situated and tells me to drive into garage bay 4. I look over the estimate for the bearing re-pack with the cost plus and it shows $7.50 for "protective coverings to include shop towels", which is basically a money maker but okay I get it. The gentlemen working on my trailer is friendly and says it should only take about an hour, so I peruse the aisles to see if there is anything I might need. After about an hour I head out to see how the bearing re-pack is coming along and the gentlemen is just finishing up. He tells me the brakes are in good shape but it's good I brought the trailer in as one of the seals is leaking and starting to throw grease towards the brakes. He went on to say he cleaned up the assembly put in new seals and good for another 3k miles. I appreciated his work and information and went to pay at the service counter. Seems the service person was out giving a quote for about 30 minutes while another customer and I are waiting. Finally a gal starts to ring me up and has to contact the service counter guy for pricing. He finally responds and I gets the correct pricing back to the gal helping me and get squared away. Overall assessment, the service department interface could use some major help. You have gals all paging this one person who has his hands full outside somewhere. This location needs a service techician stationed at all times for customers paying or setting other appointments, then another should be in charge of giving quotes on service. When you alienate the customer trying to pay or set up a service appointment that leaves a bad taste. I drove 25 miles with my trailer to come to this location and could have easily gone somewhere much closer, which I will most likely do next time I the trailer needs servicing. read more

Poor coordination they send me a large post card in the mail saying get 2x points for gas(6points) until July 31st so i bought gas twice so i can use the points toward a good Sam membership, i only received 3 points so i thought well maybe after my statement date was up it would appear, nope never did it was a qualified gas purchase because i earned three point for gas, all that was the last straw, after i set up my online payment account when i received my card I learned that you could use point as a statement credit but it takes 50.00 dollars worth of points to pay for 25.00 of statement credit and only if you have that much saved,it starts at $25.00 point are a half cent on a credit. there are better cards out there this one is not for me. I was apprehensive after reading the reviews about going to camping world, but took the long drive anyway. Sure glad that I did. I found it to be well stocked and friendly. The gas props I was looking for were on sale and cheaper than I could find anywhere else. I went to the parts counter and asked a question about a roof coating I was going to purchase. The tech told me it wouldn't do the job I wanted it to do and gave me the name of a product they didn't carry that would do the job. Saved me from making a bad $200 purchase. I did join the president's club and saved over 3 times my membership cost. I will definitely be back! read more

We are brand new to camping. We went to camping world to get a 5th wheel hitch installed. The service was great! The installer was really friendly and helpful. It took about four hours to have it installed. I waited on site while it was being installed. I notice something very interesting while I was waiting in the waiting room. Almost every customer who came to the parts and service counter had an attitude. They did not like the price. They all wanted a discount. I own a plumbing business. I know what it cost to have employees, and the cost of lease a building, and it's not cheap! Camping world prices on service is cheap. I personally think they are too cheap. I was a little leery about the work performance because their pricing is too low, but they did a great job. I like camping world. You people who leave negative reviews are selfish, and carry hate in your heart. Think about that for a moment? Camping world truly tries to help, and go the extra mile for their customers. After 3 weeks I called and they said that the manufacturer was out of that item and that it could be another 2 weeks before I would receive the item. My story is about what happened when I ordered a Tow bar and accessories on May 24,2012. The employee JOE took my order and ask for deposit...I used my VISA ($1000), I had a balance $2900.00. JOE told me my order would be in in 2 weeks and he would call me. I waited 2 weeks passed ,I grew tired no call from JOE. On June 20,2012..I took my coach for service at Camping World and then took the opportunity to speak to JOE. He said it was delayed and on back order due to volume of orders. JOE said by it would be here the first week of July 2012. On June 28,2012, I called Camping world and asked for JOE. I was told by MATT that JOE no longer worked for Camping world. I told MATT the purpose of my call. He said he would call back on Monday, after he looked into the matter. MATT also told me that my order was in the shop right now. Really, I said ...I told MATT I needed brackets for a different car to flat tow. He said he would call back Monday if a rush order could be made to Roadmaster. On Monday , June 30th,2012, I spoke to an unknown named employee and I asked for the manager, because MATT had not called me back. Also I wanted a full refund and I was cancelling my order. The Manager (MAX) called right back and was not customer responsive, but rather blamed the problem on Roadmaster saying its out of their control. I got my refund $1000.00 and told MAX I was taking my business elsewhere. H e told me nobody can help me...He said Roadmaster is way behind on their orders. He said where you going to EYERS HITCH...and I said yes. He said they wont be able to help you.I called EYERS HITCH GARAGE and told them what I needed that very day. He said he could have everything I need in 3 days. On July 5,2012 I took my sedan to EYERS my order was in. He said he could hook me up the next day but I had to be out of town..so Monday July 9,2012 I drove my RV to EYERS where he hooked my tow bar to my Honda civic Job DONE. My advice call EYERS HITCH in Santa Clara,CA for all your RV towing needs. I will never do business with Camping world. read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because their is no "0" stars, This place is without a doubt the only place in the area were you get ripped off by just dropping your Motor Home off no matter what you ask them to do. I know the employees take your R.V. for a joy ride and the Service Manager doesn't have a clule. I picked up my Motor Home after having some work done, none of which required a drive test. I found my dash cover and all my wife's stuffed animals laying on the passenger side floor, and my windshielf chipped beyond repair. Of course the chuby little Service Manager would not take responsibility, although I know the windshield was not broken when I took it in. I know that in the future I'll will not take my Motor Home there again and I've already cancelled my Presidents Club membership, another rip off by the way, but that's another issue. This is the 2nd time that Camping World has broken Glass in my Motor Home, the first time a mirror whcih they also would not take responsibility for. They do have some good employees who work in their service department but I don't trust the Service Manager who runs the place. So beware, do a walk around with the serice writer when you drop your R.V. off, you never know what's going to hapen after you leave.... read more

My wife made an appointment for a 45 point inspection for our newer travel trailer. Arrived for an 8AM appointment and was the first and only person in the store. An older man with white hair and beard stood on the other side of the counter staring at a computer screen as I stood right in front of him, seemingly ignoring my presence. He finally looked at me in a hostile manner and asked if I had a question. I told him I had an appointment for a 45 point inspection. He printed a work order and directed me to pull into bay 5. After driving into the bay, I was greeted by a service person who definitely had a demeanor of not being happy to be working there. I asked what a 45 point inspection entailed, since I did not know, and he looked at me in a manner as if I made a disparaging remark about his mother. I went back to the service desk and asked to speak to the service manager (Max) regarding this. I waited a few minutes and Max did not respond. I wish I had read the reviews before going there!! I will never have my RV serviced there again due to the hostility directed at me and poor customer service. BTW the men's restroom is filthy just like another reviewer noted. read more

While I've generally had an ok situation with their retail sales side of the shop (only bought stuff - never had to return anything so far so I can't attest to the customer service side of sales), the service/maintenance side of the shop seems really poor. My service appt for AC / generator service got pushed out over 6 weeks - I needed a check on the AC overloading the genset and only a valve lash adjustment done. My service appt got delayed 3 weeks more due to unavailability of the right tech (my hunch now is that they've lost techs over time and are scrambling to retain folks). Once I finally got in, I made sure the service advisor make a special highlighted note on the service order to adjust the valve lash. So, you'd figure, hey they would do this or call/notify me if they were unable to do it for whatever reason. Well, you'd be wrong. I showed up today to pick it up, they found no specific overloading problem after the AC service was done and the only thing they appeared to have done on the genset was change the oil and filter - which i had already done 2 months ago :-(. And then when asked about the valve adjustment, they stated "oh we don't do that here" ... nice to tell me that now. It was the only reason I ended up going here because when I made the appt I explained what was needed and they said nothing about it at the time. The manager just gave lots of attitude about it and sorta blamed it on the service advisor who was new. I told him I'd have expected a call before the service was done or once the tech saw the work order, he just gruffly said "pfft - no, we don't do that - the tech won't stop service to do that". My advice, like many others here - avoid these guys for service. If you just need toilet paper, chemicals, etc, sure they are fine, but if you have service here, expect attitude if there are any glitches. read more

Made appt for installation of universal awning fabric replacement that I purchased online. The price was very fair compared to other quotes I received from other RV service depts in the area. The awning hardware on my motorhome is a 16' A&E system and the universal fabric replacement that I purchased was made by Carefree which I got online at ppl motorhome. I advised camping world that I was providing the replacement fabric - they did not raise any issues when I made the appt or when I dropped off the motorhome and fabric for installation. I receive a phone call advising me that Carefree fabric won't go on a standard A&E awning system but that they have a replacement fabric in stock that they can sale me and install. They did not do any research to find out the facts. I have quoted from Camping World's own website where they are selling the Universal Awning Fabric replacement made by Carefree, under description they state: "Replace old or torn awning fabrics with ease! Compatible with both Carefree and Dometic/A&E roller assemblies. Replacement fabric is welded to a protective Weatherguard wrap that protects the canopy when it is rolled up." I also called PPL Motorhomes where I bought the fabric and talked to there service dept. who stated they have installed 100s of Carefree fabrics on A&E awnings. So after driving 45 mins each direction, I did not get the installation that they had quoted. Very disappointed that they did not simply do a little research to provide quality service but instead simply tried to push their in-stock product on me and take the easy out by not installing the fabric I provided. i purchased a camper at camper world in center conway new hampshire. it's been a night mere. on july 15th we went to camper world to pick up the camper. we were told that they would go straight thru the camper and fix everything, clean everything , and made sure everything worked.we paid over 500.00 for that service when we got there the camper was not ready, they told us it take two hour for them to go over the camper showing us how to use it. the guy there had no idea how anything work, he would not let us ask question he said it would make him lose his train of though. there were a lot of switch we had no idea how to use, he did not no how to even work the tv. he spent 20 mins and then left cause he did not know the answer to our question the service tech help a little more but it was a bad experience. thing did not work, and they never cleaned or went thru the camper. we got the camper home and we were packing to leave i went to make the bed and was horrified the top of the bed and the closet was soaked and molded, the camper was never gone thru , there was dishes in the stove and tin foil and thing still left in the cabinets. and the water damage was terrible we removed the shelf to look behind the bed and closet it was wet and mildew and lot of mold i have a mold allergy and my mom has lung cancer. the gas was never filled the camper never cleaned and the list goes on not enough room in this email to list all the problems .. i called them and they pick up the camper, they fixed the leaks with a half as.. job and never cleaned up the mold. when we got the camper back they stapled the shelf never even put the screw back in or filled the screw holes. so we could not get behind the bed or closet they never took care of the mold, never touch anything behind the bed area , never cleaned under the mattress still wet and molded. the chalking on the out side is terrible they state they found over 20 leaks and fixed them. but i looks like crap like a five year old did the caulking. the slide they said had to be fixed so they fixed it and again half as.. job, the never even finished putting all the parts on the slide and the slide stated to fall apart. the slide leaks over by the kitchen and they stated the pieces were bent and they straighten them which bent again when the slide was put back out the parts should have been replaced the slide looks like i has had damage that was never disclosed to us. the toilet doesn't stop running when you flush. the gages for the tanks do not work right and the admitted that they did not cleaned or go thur the camper before we pick it up they said they went thur the wrong camper and never did anything to ours in error, so far i used the camper for seven night and the mold has not been good for my elderly mom with lung cancer or for me with lupus and mold allergies. we would have pick out a different camper if we knew about the mold, the mold could have serious health problems for both of us. and now the stress is making me sick i can not go on with these problems and would like a full refund for the camper .they have the camper and state we bought as is and we did not last time i called on the camper i got a attitude and i do not need to deal with that. im asking that for the safely and health, both physical and mental that you refund our money read more
