Dined here Memorial Day weekend while visiting from out of town. Got locked in the bathroom for nearly 30 minutes when the doorknob got jammed. Luckily there was a group of firemen dining at the same time and came to my rescue. It was a frightening, unfortunate experience. Not anyone's fault but very frightening. The manager tried to make up for it but was rather unprofessional. Food was just okay but possibly the above mentioned incident tainted the taste of the food. While the service was fine, the food was just not pleasing to the palate. Ordered a salad, was dripping in dressing like it had been covered in it for at least 10 minutes prior to being plated. Tossed salads need to be dressed like at the last possible moment. Had to send it back. Second salad was better. Pizza was okay for me. I really didn't like the crust. It did not seem to have any flavor, was a little cardboard like. I was alone in that sentiment as the other two said they liked it. I couldn't quite remember why I hadn't frequented this place more often and there it was in the crust. You gotta have good crust and for me they do not. I was also not crazy about the toppings. They were just average, nothing to write home about. Although it was edible, it was pleasurable. I did like that they had soda water at the dispenser. I like tonic water. I can see why Campisi's has been Dallas' Italian food since 1946. I was there for lunch when I broke away from a conference and went out to find food. Man, did I ever make the right choice! The fettuccine alfredo was delicious, with the one extra meatball. The house salad was really good, too. read more

My husband and I stopped by early one evening. I wanted their iconic marinated crab claws. When ordering, waitress took great pains to ask how many I wanted. After getting prices, I ordered a 1/2 dozen. When they came out there must have been 30 small in a bowl. They were so dry it was like eating some type of brush, the fish wouldn't release from the shell. When I returned to kitchen, another dish was offered. The replacement dish was less expensive than the claws, but no apology or monetary compensation was offered. If a company is going to branch, they need to fully train employees or the reputation of company could be irreparably damaged. My co-workers and I rolled into this restaurant about 20 minutes prior to close. When we noticed the place was empty and they were starting to clean up, we started to head back out the door. The Campisi's staff stopped us, welcomed us and provided excellent service for the rest of the evening. I had the meatballs, the serving is two and they are HUGE, although I was hungry, I almost could not finish them The tomato sauce was savory. Two of the team got pizzas. they came out piping hot on such thin and crisp crusts. The other guy had pasta with the Marinara. The serving was probably large enough for two people, came with a standard salad and hot bread. We all left full and happy. On the way out we learned Campisi's is a family owned, local to Dallas restaurant. If you want yummy pizza and pasta served with a great attitude, stop in. You'll like it read more

My family really enjoys eating here. The pizza are baked in a stone oven, if it isn't you sure can't taste the difference. I'm only giving this one a 4 star because I am disappointed that they don't have a wide variety of the menu. I under though because it is a small restaurant. However, there was one chef that was able to make me a Greek salad and it was amazing, it's not on the menu but he made it for me. The manager that is always on staff when I come in is super sweet. Whenever I order for a pick it is always ready on time. We love it so much that we drive 15 mins just to eat it. We rather spend the extra money and time to go there. This is more of a take out place than a restaurant. There is some seating but it is extremely limited. Food is okay - I had a gluten free pizza and it was a bit expensive for the quality. Limited pasta options as well, but portions are large. Not recommended for parties larger than 2-3. read more

Ok I really don't like reviews that are months old so here is the update. First, good thin crust pizza with good ingredients. I walked in and decided to get it to go. Small place but the outside doubles the size. Watched many customers come up to the counter wanting to know where their food was. The menu was not the same menu online. I was expecting a larger selection but settled for a glass of wine while waiting for a to go pizza. Timing was perfect because the place only had a few customers. Problem: small kitchen and only one little pizza oven. Solution: Get a bigger pizza oven and kitchen and staff! Order pick up after they update the menu on their website. read more

After reading all of the previous reviews, I hope that my experience was just a fluke. We walked in and the place was filthy. There was pizza crusts on the floor, the beverage station was dirty and not stocked. I wanted to leave, but hubby was hangry. The food was ridiculously bland and the service was lacking. All of the previous reviews were positive and I believe in second chances, so hopefully we will have better luck in the future. read more

Limited service, limited menu. The pizza is good but the kids running the asylum were so stoned that they had no idea what we ordered. They were taking the food to the wrong tables and then arguing with patrons that didn't order it and then giving away free desserts to make up for it. For being a smaller version the food is definitely not smaller in flavor. I had the meatballs for an appetizer and the flavor was wonderful. I also enjoyed the famous chopped salad and it still lives up to its name. But bring your appetite for the chopped salad because it's not a small hold you over salad. Drinks are your standard coke products and have sweet and unsweet teas. The inside is very comfy in size but they do have a very nice sized patio where they have it covered and heated for the cooler days. The Parmesan cheese on the tables is not your cheap cheese. Very soft and flavorful. The restaurant was very clean and welcoming. They do have flat screens all around the inside for catching up on sports or current events. If you're looking for a quick lunch or a nice place to hang out with friends, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was excited about this place and came hungry. The portion sizes were big. I got pasta, with extra baked cheese, chicken, spinach. Each topping costs you extra so I imagined it would be good. Nope, it was the blandest pasta I've had. Others that were there with me had pasta also but got different stuff and they agreed. I honestly could of made better pasta with less ingredients. It was terrible because the manager (Shawn) was over caffenated and was talking 100mph and getting snappy because us and another table couldn't understand him. He kept babbling about that he has a hundred things to do, the kitchen guys were about to shut it down and that he had a lot of paper work to do after we leave. Food was delicious! Huge portions and seasoned very well. Prices are average. My only complaint was the service was not great. The employees were more interested in talking to their friends than doing their jobs. I had to either ask for everything or get it myself. It's a 4 out of 5 pizza: thin crispy crust is thumbs up, very tasty tomato sauce, lots toppings to choose, and minimal wait for carry out (15min) make this an easy choice. Dining area is small and basic. Wish Campisi's made some gourmet speciality pizza like Zanata. read more

Decided to try since we were staying close by. As we approached the restaurant, we weren't even sure it was open. Kinda dark and no customers could be seen. Walked up to the door, numerous handmade signs listed what was allowed and not allowed in the restaurant. Not a good start for its upscale location. We hesitantly entered. About 4 staff members were standing around but did look up. A female employee approached us with menus. We were told to seat ourselves and return the counter to order. We looked over the semi dark restaurant and decided this was not the place for us. I returned the menus but was not acknowledged. Very strange encounter. The staff working were extremely kind and professional, this review's poor score is in no way a reflection on their hard work and good, friendly service. The food; we ordered the garlic bread w/provelone cheese app, a small veggie pizza, an order of chicken Alfredo plus drinks...the food tasted like it had been prepared days in advance, thrown in a microwave and then served. The sauce tasted like canned sauce you get at Walmart. It was atrocious. The prices? Woof, guessing that rent at the Harbor in Rockwall must be high because the food at Campisi's is terribly overpriced. We paid over $50 for a meal that should have cost maybe half that.
