My friend and I went to brunch next door at Morning Fork. When we left the restaurant, we saw a sign outside Cam's Salon & Spa that said "$20 full set." I wasn't planning on getting my nails done, but we couldn't pass on this awesome deal! It ended up being $25 because I chose to do coffin nails, but still an AMAZING price for acrylics!!! I hate to give this rating because the owners are the sweetest couple ever and their customer service is top notch. Conversation with them was great and they went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable. Unfortunately, I have to give this rating in good faith for my botched haircut. This visit was unplanned. After having breakfast next door, I saw the salon and figured I could get a quick cut in since I wasn't going to have the free time to do so in the coming weeks. I wanted a simple layered cut because I let my hair grow way too long. I even had a reference photo, and she said I went to the right place because she's been in the industry way longer than I've been alive and she specializes in layered cuts. I felt at ease but was shocked at her finished work when she said she was done. The layers were so chunky. My hair looked like it had shelves. I couldn't believe it. I showed her the reference photo again, politely telling her I was looking for a more seamless look. She argued that it would mean thinning the ends, that it would make my hair wispy and out of control, that I've had to come in once a month to maintain it, that my hair was thick and healthy so this cut was best for me. She straight up refused to do it and I was just shocked. She looked very pleased with her work too, so she couldn't understand why I wasn't agreeing with her. I'm embarrassed for people to see me. It looks like I cut my own hair using kitchen shears. Even tying it up to hide it doesn't work -- you can see the chunky layers on my ponytail. Fortunately, it's just hair and it'll grow back. It's just going to be a few embarrassing weeks. It really sucks I'm leaving a review like this. I'm all for supporting local, Asian-owned businesses, but I can't bring myself to recommend this place to others. I'm sure she specializes in other things, but it's definitely doing layered hairstyles. read more

First of all, they want you to pay cash so that they don't have to clean the taxes. The lady does not listen to what you want as a customer. Also, she tries to leave your nails in bad condition so that you have to come back. On top of all this, she likes to argue with the clients and tell them what she wants. I went in there for loose glitter, and she tried to say that gel glitter is the same. It does not look the same. Unfortunately, I cannot leave because she asks you to pay upfront. Hence, if you have sensitive hands, don't go to her because she's very rough. And what bothers me the most is that she talked about my disability as I am a "handicapped" person. Cam does a great job and she's incredibly affordable I'm not sure how she stays open. Officially my favorite go to place for facial waxing and hair cuts. I like the way she styles my brows and I got a lot compliments on my last haircut, I have a a-line bob that needs continuous maintenance, if it's not cut properly it grows out ugly also I detest long hair on the back of my head. She shaved and shaped it perfectly, you'd be surprised how hard it is to find someone who can get it right. Look, I've been to barber shops and salons, I used to go to Vidal Sassoon in SF, the king of a-line bobs and I've tried Jimmy's hair garage here in Sac, but this is my best cut yet. Never again. Let me make this clear: I have never EVER written a bad review, nor did I want to. This was the worst nail salon I have ever been to. We just wanted acrylic nails & Cam up-charged us on EVERYTHING. She asked what shape I wanted and I said "Coffin please" and she said she forgot about coffin, and it would be $5 extra for that shape. She also had us pay for everything as we went. She stopped doing my nails until my sister (who was paying for my nails as celebration for my new job) coughed up the $5. We came in and said we only wanted 2 sets of gel acrylics and one pedicure. She continuously asked if we wanted more things. She ended up convincing my sister to get her brows done and then her upper lip. $200 later and all we got was THE WORST nails EVER, and my sister hated her brows. Cam asked if I wanted my eyes done and I said no and she asked if I was sure & pointed in between her brows (as if to imply that my face was hairy or ugly or both). I have SO many more negative things to write but I'll just end it here. Definitely do not recommend and would feel bad for anyone who goes in. read more

Very sweet couple but this was the worst nail experience I've had. When I made the appointment I asked for two appointments at the same time, but when we showed up we were told we could only go one by one. They then tried to rush us through our appointments and when we said we only had time for one, they pushed us repeatedly to both get fast appointments. The ambiance was also frenetic and stressful, with broken chairs (no massage chairs), barking dogs, and no AC. The color selection was limited, it was cash only, and it was pricey - $40 for a gel pedicure. They were very hospitable but I really wish I had known what the experience is like before I visited and therefore am leaving this review so others know what they are getting into. read more

If I could give this place .000000000001 star I would!!! Where to begin? FIRST: You walk in and there's a huge pit bull mix that barks at you. He's just chilling on the chairs that the customers are supposed to sit in to get their feet or hair washed! & He's never wiped up after! EW! SECOND: They are COMPLETELY unsanitary! -THEY DID NOT CLEAN OUT THE FOOT BOWLS. There was dog hair & a TOENAIL in there! GROSS!!!! -The tools they use are not new nor are they sanitized. -She stopped working for a minute to wipe up something off the floor and went back to my feet without washing her hands!!! -When she painted my toes, to get rid of excess nail polish, she used her THUMB NAIL to get it off!!! WTF?! -They leave their tools on the floor! I spied a flat iron AND that tool that scrapes away excess acrylic on the floor. Gross & gross again. THIRD: They have no idea what they're doing with hair. There was a woman getting her hair styled & dyed also. She was left with the dye in way too long & kept asking Cam why & Cam gave her some weird answer. Time came to wash it out & style it & here's what she does: She PARTIALLY rinses it out & begins to FLAT IRON the woman's hair with the hair still wet WITH DYE STILL IN IT!! The woman was PISSED. Cam kept saying "Oh no, just don't wash your hair for two days to let the color set." WHAT?! and let her hair fall off from brittleness? The only thing done right was the cut. That woman was fuming & made it known. FOURTH: I GOT A RASH ON THE TOP OF MY LEFT FOOT. Thanks, Cam's Salon & Spa! & the Pedicure job? I do better painting on my own feet. When I noticed the little, okay not so little, doggie in the window, I thought, this is my kind of nail salon! Pancho is the most adorable and sweet boxer. If you just say his name like you are excited to see him it's magic. He's like puddy in your hands. I like that I can get in and out in a flash and Cam does a solid job on my fake nails. The nail shape is great and they don't lift right out the gate. The polish issue bums me out. I always end up ruining them. I think I need to ask her for the fan instead of just UV light. A wise band once said, "Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance chance." So I did. I usually rely on Yelp to steer me to the decent nail shops, but while I'd passed Cam's on the street for years now, I'd never seen many reviews here on Yelp or anywhere else. There also is no web site to check out beforehand, but since I had the extra time, I thought, "Eh, F*$# it," and got myself a mani/pedi. What I really like about this place is that the women running the show seem genuine and sincere. They didn't look bored or annoyed that a customer came in off the street. They didn't scoff when I had to run to an ATM to get cash since they didn't accept credit cards. They didn't rush through the motions and took the time to get things right, asking me what nail length and style I wanted. They also asked if I would like something to drink, and, get this, they offered trail to snack on while my feet got the special treatment (I declined). Here's how I came to a 3-star rating: Pedicure: 4 stars. It's not the most perfect pedicure I've ever gotten, but you could tell that the woman (not sure if either woman in the salon was Cam) was working hard to whittle away my calluses, and she broke out extra tools to neaten up the paint job. Manicure: 3 stars. Maybe it's just me, but I always feel a little let down when I ask for clear nail polish and only get what seems like a base coat when I certainly would have gotten more coats of polish had I asked for a color. I smudged the polish before I was even out the door. *sad face* Polish selection: 1 star. If I'm having a professional paint my nails, I expect professional-grade polish. While this place has OPI, it also has Revlon and other brands I'd never heard of mixed in. But what really got to me was that 85% of the polish had separated as though it hadn't been used in years. I don't even want to use that stuff even if it WAS the color I'm looking for. One day they should sit down and mix that stuff up and make it look pretty again. Cost: 5 stars. $35 for a mani/pedi (or $25 pedicure and $12 manicure separately). Beware that their signs/windows/billboards seem to list different prices, so ask what the going rate is. And as I said, bring cash, not credit cards. I want to give Cam's more stars, but if 3 stars is "A-OK" in Yelp world, then that suits them perfectly. I'll update after a few more visits. read more

On Friday, for Labor Day weekend, my husband and I went to Cam's salon and spa and he got a haircut. The place was clean and nicely kept. I hesitated on getting my haircut but my husband went first. When we left the shop I was so impressed with his haircut that I decided to go back in and get mine done. We both were highly impressed. While he got his haircut, I petted their pretty and pink four-legged daughter, even she was very pleasant. Everyone in the shop was very friendly. The couple who owns the shop is the sweetest couple you could ever meet. If you walk or drive past this shop, please support their business!!! As soon as she started my nails another customer walked in (who seemed to be a regular) she started to rush my nails and over filed my nails! She didn't take her time and was more talkative with the other customer!! When she was applying the nail polish she was going to fast that the colors didnt go all the way to the edges! Cam interrupted my service to wax someone's eyebrow. I went specifically for gel manicure. She used gel polish but doesn't have a uv light and didn't use a gel top coat. She didn't even have me wash my hands before the manicure. I realized it wasn't dry when I put my hand in my purse as I was walking home. All nails dinged. DO NOT go here for gel nails. Also--looks like she used the same tools on me as another client without cleaning them. Other commenters have said things about her dogs. Only one there and she barked but calmed down. Bottom line is that I have a pretty pedicure but I have two hands full of sticky messed up nails. I get gel manicures specifically bc they last longer and I can immediately go about my day. Where do I begin with the worst service I've ever had. I went in because the prices were cheap and now I see why the prices are so cheap. The place is the most filthy salon I've ever been in. I didn't even get my haircut yet I had customers hair all over me because of the unsanitary practices. I used to be a beautician myself so I know a little more than the average person.They do not clean supplies that have been used from 1 person to another. She dropped utensils that she was using on me on the floor and then used them once again after they had dropped on the floor. cam herself the owner chose to be dirty in front of the wrong person I will be calling state board on her first thing tomorrow. At first I was just going to leave and give her a bad tip and move on but after seeing reviews and seeing that she has a three and a half star rating I feel bad for anyone that's ever going to go there again. she did not even do a top coat on my nails and had me leave with wet nails so now I have to go home and do a top topcoat myself. The minute you walk in the door look at the nail selection the nail color selection and you will see how bad the practices are there they are all old they are brands from the Dollar Tree and brands that are super cheap that no professional should be using they are all old and very unused and I'm sure unsanitary. When she did my nails she cut my finger she filed my cuticles off to the point it was painful and she also complained that I need to sit more in the way that favors her so she could be more comfortable because I was too tense and need to make sure she's comfortable. She has two down one will bark every 2 minutes as someone walks by and one that will bark at you when you walk in which is a big dog and there's fur everywhere the worst part is is I have 4 dogs myself I'm a huge dog lover but we'd stop multiple times so she can make her dogs more comfortable and took all her dogs by pet names and talk to them he also needed to move so the dog could sit in the chair with her and so she had me scoop my chair back which made me run over my toe and then started bleeding and then she said the reason why I got myself hurt was because I needed to pay better attention but this point I was completely serious and decided to not only going to lose your tip she's getting a call from state board and she is going to be shut down. I cannot emphasize enough on how much you will regret going there if you ever make the horrible decision to give her cheap practices a chance please save yourself save the upset and hurt you will feel when you leave there because she will blame you for something that she did and the dirtiness and the filthy you're going to be covered with when you leave. read more

Cam is soooo sweet and even gave us a little Buddhist philosophy and homemade cookies. I give one star for personality. Trouble is that her mani and pedi were the worst we'd ever had. The pedi was suuuuper fast and involved cold water. There was also no sign of using no clean tools. The mani was terrible and so sloppy that I left with smeared nails, nail polish all over my fingertips, and really sore cuticles that she cut deeply into. It was awful. Don't go. read more

The lady Cam was totally nice and her dog was super adorable, that's the only reason why I'm giving this place one star. Not only did she not layer my hair like I asked her, she totally RUINED my hair. From the moment I walked in the door she was rushing to get me right back out the door. I cut off 6 inches of my hair and I absolutely regret coming here. I could have done a better job in my bathroom with a pair of kitchen shears. And now I have to go to another salon to fix the mess she made. If you need a quick and I mean quick pedicure, this place will suffice. I was in and out in 15 minutes, for me not what I was looking for in a pedicure. I am a dog lover but getting a pedicure while Cam reaches over and pets her dogs isn't the most hygienic thing. I didn't have sandals and despite the place being empty, Cam was in a rush to get me out and so put my shoes on before the polish dried and ruined the paint. She did offer to sell me $4 flip flops. The part I was most annoyed with is the sign on the window says $20 and she charged me $22. Sorry but no tip here, not when you do that. Doubt I go back. read more

I asked for a French tip full set and while she did give me the fiber glass for free the work she did was completely unacceptable. Not only did she not massage my hand as other say they got, she did not measure to make sure the nails were the same size so it looked completely tacky. One thumb was a good size while the other was noticeably longer...same for every other nail. And there was bubbles in the top coat. Not to mention she had glue all over my fingers to where it was getting caught on things. She clearly did not care what kind of job she did but if she wanted new clients maybe she care alittle more. read more

Dudes only pay 12 bucks for a haircut and Cam does a great job. She's very nice and the one time I had a minor problem with customer service (very minor), she threw in a shave and shampoo for free. I went to Cam's today for my second pedi with her. After reading some of the earlier reviews, I asked Cam about her sterilization process and shared the concerns of prior customers. Rather than get defensive, she explained everything, showed me how she sterilizes and re-sterilized the tools she used on me. I have high confidence in her system and feel very comfortable in the cleanliness of her Salon. She spent extra time on my dry heels and I walked out with beautiful feet.
