This is only my first time but not looking to return. My server was ok, decently nice. Food was bleh. Got the crab cake entree, was told it was really good but my taste buds disagreed. Tasted kinda fishy and def lacking of like old bay or something. Tartar sauce didn't even help. I got mashed potatoes and veggies. The veggies were broccoli and cauliflower, sounded great, but they were drenched in butter, as were the potatoes. Would rather just steamed, or let me know they're drenched in butter. And the mashed potatoes, like I think they dropped two extra sticks of butter in the pot, they were runny and everything. I asked for a box to take leftovers but I probably should have just left them. When I got home I realized I didn't like any of the food and just tossed the leftovers. Looked like it would be good from the outside but nahhh. Maybe/hopefully their other food is better but considering even my sides weren't good, I wouldn't hold my breath. We went all the way there from Gettysburg, PA as our Son-in-Law's and Grandson's bands were playing in a Rockabilly Festival there. It was changed to inside instead of the patio as the weather was too cold and windy for the patio. The first band played which was a trio, my son-in-law's family. They were asked to turn the sound down twice and they did as low as it would go. After they played, the 3 other bands wete told to move out to the patio or pack up. Almost everyone there were enjoying the music but one complained. Food was so so. Waiter was good and apologetic. Everyone came a long way to hear one band and head home. it is a shame that if one person or a few complain about the music too loud, the majority who are enjoying it suffer. Rockabilly Music is loud. Why come to an advertised Rovkabilly Festival and complain about the music being too loud. Restaurant lost the business of all band members, family, friends and fans and gave a discount to people who complained about the bands leaving to appease a small few. Not impressed with our meals on Saturday night 3/12/22 - our boys ordered the Rib-eye and NY Strip meal - no steak knives, our waitress was nice enough to tell us when she delivered the meals but still 15 minutes later no knives. The Ribeye was ordered with Mac and cheese which came out cold and noodles were hard, we sent it back and was given the same, not to mention it was then charged on our bill an extra $2.99. The NY strip came with a baked potato which was brown on the inside, no sour cream, and honestly had a bitter taste. Needless to say, he didn't eat that either - both plates got waffle fries that had to be microwaved - so wimpy and chewy - not good! We won't be returning. Wow this place is really hit or miss! We came in at 7 on a Sunday night for dinner and it was a comedy of errors. Small stuff but somehow meal did not get entered to be prepared? So we waited about an hour for dinner and there were maybe 6 other tables in the whole place. Waitress apologized several times but still forgot things like drinks and promised a discount when we payed. Well NO discount was applied and food was totally sub par today. Salad greens were soggy and not crisp, there were out of grilled chicken and we had to substitute fried chicken. Just not happy or satisfied with this visit. We waited so long for this place to open and have tried it 3 times now and it is not making a great impression. . We probably won't be back. read more

My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner here at the beginning of June and it was AMAZING!!! The management team was very attentive to our wants and needs weeks prior to the dinner. Upon arriving for dinner, we were surprised with beautiful decorations that matched the colors of our wedding along with an incredible dinner set up on the deck with the mountains as our back drop. The waiting staff had our appetizers already placed at the table when we arrived as per request along with our personalized menu placed at each seat. The waiting staff was incredible!! They were quick, organized, and polite. Canary Grill accommodated our 50+ person party with ease and poise. We simple cannot thank them enough for the incredible experience they provided us with the evening before our wedding! read more

We were there last Sunday at 2 pm. The server and food were great! ...as were the pretzels!! We went back today for dinner...horrible! We wanted to start our meal off with those delicious pretzels. What we got looked like leftover pretzels that had been deep fried and cut into small pieces not even equaling a full pretzel....awful! Then we ordered the meal...our friend got her meal and after 45 minutes the server finally came over and I told her to take the burger which I never got off my bill! There is so very much miserable to report about our visit there starting with they didn't have our reservation and then proceeded to treat us as if it were our fault that they needed to accommodate us. Most unfriendly service staff we have ever encountered with only the female bartender showing any professionalism. Food was good but why did we have to ask for salt, ask for the tartar sauce that should have come with fried fish, ask for hot sauce which they didn't have but by golly, how do they make their chicken wings without it. We just left this place about 10 minutes ago. The hostess gave us attitude because we requested to sit outside, but did not want to sit at a hightop table that she pushing onto us. We were polite and said we would appreciate it if we could be seated at a regular table. She cleaned it, I said thank you, and she just walked right by us. Fast forward 10 minutes, people who arrived after us were getting served, and we were just ignored. We eventually just got up and left. We visited Berkley Springs to get away from the hustle and bustle of the DC area. We were driving by this place and stopped for dinner. We had such a good meal and enjoyed everything. I never leave bad reviews, nor do I tell management to remove my food from the bill, but there's a first time for everything. I figured I would leave an actual honest review, so people can read about real experiences and not reviews left by locals that are being nice to support a business. We've waited for this place to open for months, and months... So we were extremely excited to dine here. I'm a simple person so I typically order a cheeseburger and french fries, it's hard to mess that up right? Wrong. The cheeseburgers here come with chips, but the waitress told me I could add fries for $1. I told her to add them and after finishing the order she said "Oh nevermind, we ran out of the bags of fries even though we had over 50, you'll have to have chips unless you want something else" so I ordered the chips and added a salad. My husband got the crab cake meal and my daughter got chicken strips with mac and cheese. In an attempt to make conversation with the awkward waitress, we were talking about my daughter's recent birthday and she said "I'll get everyone to come sing happy birthday" which was nice of her. She didn't come back to check on us while we waited for our food, which wasn't long. When we got our food, my husband was missing the condiments from his sandwich, he had been intrigued by the sauce he read on the menu that goes on the crab cake so when he asked where that was she said "Oh, most people don't like it so I didn't have them include it" since she doesn't get to choose how people receive their food, we told her to bring it out. My chips were burnt, so I only ate a few after my salad. When I was about to take a bite of my burger she popped out and said "Dessert or check?" when I hadn't even been close to finishing, nor was my family. She was dismissed and I took a bite of my sandwich, and almost threw up in my mouth. I ALWAYS order my meat medium, so that wasn't the issue, this meat tasted bad. I can't explain it as I've never experienced this, but when she came back again I flat-out said "This is the worst food I've ever had, something is wrong with the meat, I can't eat it". My plate was literally still full, she said "ok, but the build your own burgers taste a bit.... " I interrupted her, as there is no excuse for that and said, I'm not paying for that, get your manager because she needs to know about issues like this. She drops the bill off and goes to get her. My daughter's lemonade was charged. No big deal but it's included in the meal. I asked her about that when she came back to tell me the manager would be a few minutes and she said "Only certain drinks are included in the kid's meal", so instead of doing her job and telling us that when we ordered, she just took the order and walked away. Fast forward to the manager, she did remove my food from the bill, as well as my daughter's drink which she said was actually included, just rang up wrong. She said "Sorry about all of that, we are changing things up. I'll let the cooks know about the burger". Changing things? You just opened four days ago. $24 for a crab cake sandwich with chips, a kids Mac and cheese with chicken strips and a side salad. Not bad, but not worth it. Oh! You can't forget about the air conditioner vents under the table blowing on your legs, it's not very pleasant when it's 55 degrees, and raining. There was never a birthday song, which isn't big deal, but my daughter was told that, I believe she was looking forward to it because she seemed disappointed when it didn't happen. Inexperienced servers, inexperienced management, not the best cooks and excuses. We won't be returning. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience here! We were in from DC for a weekend trip and thought we would try Canary Grill since their menu looked interesting. The decor is comfy, the menu is exciting with lots of yummy options and we loved our meal. I had the turkey sourdough sandwich with sweet potato fries and my boyfriend had the brunch burger which is essentially every breakfast item on a bun! The standout of our experience though was Caitlyn our waitress! She was attentive, anticipating our needs as they came up but never being pushy. In a world were I usually can feel people just putting in their hours, she seemed to really love her job and have a genuine kindness. We were very happy with our meal and would definitely recommend trying this delicious restaurant. read more

The worst part was the "hostess" or lack thereof. No one seemed to know what to do. Girl at reception was asking servers if they were the "hostess" that day. We go thru Berkeley Springs pretty often and wanted to try this place out. Stopped for the first time yesterday and boy were we disappointed! First, the air conditioning went are UNDER the tables and froze any body part under the table. We were miserable. The, it took forever for a server to even come to the table to ask if we wanted anything to drink. By that time we had read the menu cover to cover multiple times and were ready to order. I ordered the special which were Rock fish tacos and hubby ordered the brisket sandwich. And we waited, and waited, and waited finally grabbed our waitress and she told us our food was up next. The we watched as a!l the tables around us who came in after us were served their food while we continued to wait. We were about to leave when food finally came. Hubby's brisket was fine but the Cole slaw was left off. My fish tacos were greasy small pieces in three tortillas with some lacluster pink slaw pieces and an unidentifiable white sauce on top. Finally grabbed our server about the Cole slaw and boy do we wish we hadn't. it was warm, awful and tasted like it had turned. Really bad experience all the way around. Also took us 45 minutes to get our food, there was only five couples in the whole place. Was visiting the area for my Birthday and stopped in. Subpar is an understatement. After taking our drink order and food, we never saw the waitress again. Someone else brought our food out after 30 minutes of waiting and then we were never checked on again. The steak on the street taco was burnt. The chicken tenders were so dry and hard, the baked potato was hardly cooked and barely warm and the macaroni and cheese tasted like they used velveeta macaroni and cheese in a box. I love the outdoor seating at the Canary Grill! It's beautiful scenery. The inside is really nice but too loud for live amplified music. There's nothing to absorb the sound to it resonates everywhere. Acoustic music works much better in a place like this. But the food's pretty good and there's a lot to choose from. read more

Disappointed in the food. Seemed to mostly be frozen, not freshly made. Hoped for more from this new Berkley Springs eatery. Ordered the chicken pot pie, and what little chicken was in the dish was still cold. There were no vegetables and the gravy tasted out of a jar. Sent back and ordered a so so pulled pork that tasted defrosted and instead of being marinated in a house made BBQ sauce, a commercial sauce was drizzled over the top. read more
