We got a strawberry and mango mochi. The mango mochi reign supreme. It was so good. I never had a mochi that soft and best mango ever. Delicious. Overall, a great place to check out on a Saturday morning in Hawaii!

I was ready to do a food crawl this past Saturday morning. The market was pretty sizable, and it took us at least 15 minutes to quickly walk through all the vendors before deciding which ones were worth trying. We came with pretty high expectations, so while not everything blew us away, we still got to try a ton of different bites: * Various mochi flavors from Lanikai Mochi. The owner was a great and friendly guy, too. * Fresh acai bowls with more interesting fruit options beyond the usual strawberry, blueberries, and bananas. I also appreciated that the acai blend didn't taste like it had a bunch of added sugar. * Loco moco. The steak was a bit dry, but I'll never say no to gravy. * Ginger ale & coffee mocktails from Pacifikool. These were super popular, and I'd definitely recommend. * Elote from Aloha Elote, with lots of options whether you want it on the cob or in a cup. * Fresh fruit cups. This was by far my favorite find, and if I could only pick one thing, this would be it. The fruit was much fresher than anything I'd get at a grocery store, and somehow cheaper, too. I got a huge cup of purple dragonfruit for $5, and it was so fresh and perfectly sweet. I highly recommend stocking up on fresh fruit while you're here. Overall, KCC Farmers' Market was a solid way to try a bunch of local eats, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Not every vendor is going to blow your socks off, and there isn't really a great place to sit and eat besides sitting on the curb or standing off to the side. Still, we got to sample a bunch of different things in one stop, which made it a worthwhile visit while we were in Hawaii.

I always get a coconut -- this time of year, there were two options to choose -- small versus large. The large one is from Hawaii and is limited time of year, roughly one month of the year. Delicious! Also, they cut the coconut in half and provide spoons to enjoy the inside meat. Also love the fresh fruit stand with prickly pear fruits, star fruit, mango, and also some homemade items like coconut tapioca pudding, mango with sticky rice, papaya salad. Crafts vendors have beautiful handmade pens, signs, bracelets. I still highly recommend checking out the farmers market -- many unique items and offerings not found in traditional stores around the area!

It wasn't very well organized, there was no sense of community, and pray little number of vendors. And there was a good number of vendors who had their boxed up products there but their booths weren't manned or even set up at start time. Believing that they were just running on island time, I waited a good 20-30 minutes, but I ended up losing interest. I took a few laps really intent on making some purchases. I ended up getting some fruit to throw into my fridge at the hotel which always comes in clutch, but there wasn't much else that was exciting. Only drop by if you're staying at or near the Hyatt Regency, and lower any expectations that you may have of a farmers market.

Love this Manoa Farmers' Market in Manoa Marketplace as I needed a break from errands and thought that a quick drive up Manoa would be it and after a some lunch and visit to Fendu Boulangerie for a breakfast bite tomorrow I noticed some tents in front of the post office area. With what seems to just four vendors two are selling vegetables all are pre priced and packed making it very easy to browse and shop, there was an art seller and lastly was for some flowers at $5 for a small bunch it was just right for the butsudan and I just loved the lavender shade of anthurium. No veggies for me today though there were some that I wanted but had more errands to run but know that they're here and is a quick and easy place to find some fresh produce and veggies along with supporting local. I just recently found this out when I visited the Farmer's Market few months ago, I panicked because I thought the are no longer having the market. If I was lived or work close by I would look forward to Wednesdays, the Honolulu Farmer's Market happens once a week from 4-7pm. Free parking , I try to make a stop here if I need veggies, fruits for the midweek. It is out of the way for me come from east side and coming from long work day, I am already exhausted. This Farmer's Market is smaller compared to the one at Kapiolani Community College on Saturdays, less than 20 vendors. Noticed some vendors from the KCC FM, a quick stop to 2 booths for Thai Banana, butter lettuce and chayote fruit. Got what I needed, quick walk to the end to see browse the other vendors. Although the food and drink booth looked great, one day I will make it a Honolulu Farmer's Market night where we go for our walk here, grab goods, enjoy and then walk back home! For this visit, I am happy with my produce, can't wait to prep my salads and cook a dish with the chayote. Love farm fresh veggies!!

Close friends (if you come here enough times) and deals can be felt here on a daily basis. It's a very definitely small scale operation that takes up very little room and scores up many delightful fruits and fresh produce for your daily needs. It's not much of a theatrical production, as the larger farmer's markets in various spots around urban Honolulu and across Oahu, but there is some value associated here. It's your usual cadre of local residents that want to enjoy the fresh produce that comes with farmer's markets, but want to be within the reaches of Kaimuki town. The Kaimuki Open Market could be categorized as a small niche of people bartering and selling among themselves, but why do it in the public eye? Not sure about that, but I guess it's the way it is here and buying among friends and family is like that, along with passers by who are also looking for a great deal as well. The overall experience here was definitely pleasant, but weird at the same time. I'd come back here more, if the farmer's market either at Kapiolani Community College did not have the stuff I need. The Kaimuki Open Market is neatly tucked away in the side streets of Kaimuki town, located on 12th Avenue across the street from the First Hawaiian Bank - Kaimuki branch. They usually operate on Saturdays, Is use you where I see them. Not sure if the do this open market on the week days, but I will be surprised if they do. If they do, it will probably during normal working hours. Usually cash will be king here, since I do not believe they take credit cards at all. Luckily there is a major bank next door or across the street, namely First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii. Parking can be plenty for all, if you use the municipal parking lot but you would have to pay money. There's always street parking nearby but there will be some walking involved to get here. Of course, there is no admission fee, so that's always a good thing. Sometimes I will see someone new in the neighborhood buying stuff from here and it's always gratifying to see familiar faces periodically on the weekends. While you won't find vendors that will cook up a tasting meal, you just find a small assortment of produce that is fresh and compatible with whatever you are cooking / preparing for the day or week. Take this opportunity to venture out in your comfort zone and come here, as the alternative to supermarkets, Costco, and other nearby localized farmer's markets in and around town. Since I do live nearby, I thought it would be a nice gesture to check things out here on a recent Saturday and hit up the Kapiolani Community College mega farmer's market later on. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to get what produce I needed for work and home, while being quite close to home really. I can shop here on the weekends and know that I can get the best price and deal for my hard-earned dollar, as well as seeking other deals for friends and family by shopping here. While Whole Foods and various supermarkets are are very much in the Vinicity, shopping here at the Kaimuki open market can be adventurous and be out of your comfort zone. Hours of operation: 8am to 2pm on Sundays Best feature: FREE parking at Jefferson Elementary School I wasn't expecting to find anything. I didn't really want veggies and fruits. I looked at the crystals, jewelry, and knitted plushies. Then... I saw a "clearance" sign... I had to browse through the clothing rack... There were those comfy long pants that can be worn as pajamas. Made out of thin, cotton fabric, some pants had elephant prints... I got one of those pants in Thailand! I had to get another pair! The nice lady vendor let me browse through the other pants with elastic on the hem, the purses, and the long skirts... hmmm... I'll need to return! I want to browse through the other merchandise from the rest of the vendors!

It's just extremely congested and sometimes too busy inside. Cleanliness can be an issue for some but for the most part I'm buying vegetables and fruit and that's enough for me. I used to take my knives to be sharpened in this area but this review is just for the vendors I shopped at. I needed papaya, fresh vegetables and fruits. I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

On the right side - His charges are ridiculous, his scale is off TOO and charges double for his papayas, bananas. Just make sure with everyone you purchase from you know what you being charged. There use to be more vendors, now maybe a handful only. Why? Crops not producing?

I used to limit my spending to $10 while shopping for dinner for my wife and I. There will be a lot of things I will miss in the future of Kekaulike Market. I stop by Chow's Seafood and Meat Market to buy Chinese fishcake which is one of the only stalls that sell it now. The stall. might not look like the most sterile place to shop but the fishcake is very good. The fishcake is a raw paste that you could use in any number of dishes. It sells for about $8 a pound but it stretches the budget and you get a lot of fishcake dumplings in one pound.

Today, I was looking for a pineapple for my mom, but, unfortunately, didn't find any. However, I did see items such as locally caught fish packed in ice, clean chicken feet in refrigerated cases, and tables full of colorful vegetables and fruits! The variety is overwhelming! There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. If not, the municipal parking lots have reasonable parking rates.
