    Eat Tacos

Always a must stop for us when we are in town. Love the margaritas! The team here hustles and has fun while they are doing it. Food is delicious. My previous reviews stand in terms of favorites. No change there.

I had a very delicious meal here after a long day of travel I was looking for something that was very simple and easy to eat so I decided to get tacos at canteen well actually I ended up getting a burrito because I asked the waiter what he recommended in the Cali burrito add steak sounded delicious. I like that they give you these little wagon wheels with teen on it, but I really wish it was chips and salsa, but I couldn't justify paying the extra for the chips and salsa. They did not have iced tea here which broke my southern heart but overall I would go here again. I almost went there tonight, but I decided to try a other restaurant on my bucket list of Madison Wisconsin.

Very nice environment but small. Definitely recommend hitting happy hour for their half of deals and quieter setting. Without the 2-5pm and late nite deals, this place can really hurt your wallet. The strawberry margarita was delicious but VERY strong. I got the Diablo shrimp and fried cod tacos, both AMAZING after drizzling Valentina hot sauce. Service was amazing and efficient. Big thank you to our beautiful server!

Had a dinner at Canteen during Parent's Weekend at UW - places everywhere were quite busy. Overall, I thought the food at Canteen was pretty good. The duritos were a pleasant surprise. The interior is on the small-side [cozy], but pretty Madison Square hip. Our server was kinda grumpy, perhaps due to the the place being packed. After some homework, I learned Canteen is a part of the Food Fight Restaurant Group's portfolio, some serious restauranteurs

This place has a really fun vibe, though it's on the smaller side. I went during happy hour, and the deals were definitely worth it. It felt a lot more relaxed than it would during peak times. My friend and I both had burritos, and they were absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The staff was attentive and got our orders out quickly. I'd come back for happy hour for sure, though prices at other times might be a bit steep.

Tacos were very solid, 8/10. Sat outside, very nice. Full pitcher of strawberry margarita for 3 people = well worth it. A bit on the pricey side, but everything is nowadays so

Fantastic taco salad and Diet Coke! Thank you! I sat outside and it was a beautiful evening. Fairly quiet for a Saturday night in Madison. Friendly service. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite spots by the capital. Good food with great happy hour deals. The tacos are always good but their taco salad is also amazing. The Guac and queso are great apps to share as well, the margaritas always are delicious and you can get pitchers which makes it even better. In the summertime they have a nice outdoor space as well.

Went on a weekend, and I will suggest you should call to make reservation before arriving. If I'm being honest, the two people at the host stand were a bit rude. BUT once we sat down it turned around. Our server was so sweet and nice! The happy hour prices are great. Unfortunately non of their taps were working that day, but their margaritas were good. The tacos meat portions are good for the price. The pastor were my favorite.

One of my favorite happy hour spots is Canteen! They have happy hour every day and offer half off their tacos and select drinks including some margaritas and beers. I personally like to start with a margarita and enjoy a Tecate as my second drink if I'm feeling up to it. This space is quite small but you may be able to grab a spot at the bar if you didn't make reservations it really depends on the day. Lots of character and color throughout the dining area. The carnitas tacos are my favorite and I like to dabble in some of the others too. Happy hour is a great time to try something new. Each taco comes with two street sized tacos. I usually check out two different tacos and it's plenty of food if in your own. Or go with a friend and try even more!

Great tacos and a great happy hour special. The margaritas are delicious and the outdoor seating is the best in the summer. I love the thick lime wedges they give with the tacos. Good amount of vegetarian options and service is always good.

This is such a cozy vibe. We didn't realize we were coming during happy hour, what a bonus! Half off tacos and all margaritas every day from 2-5pm is a great deal The queso, el jefe margs, and steak tacos were the standouts. We could have used some more chips with the queso, and I didn't love the shrimp tacos. Our server was excellent. She was friendly, efficient, and helpful even though she had a lot of tables! Fun spot in a great location.

Surprisingly really bomb and authentic tasting for Madison, Wisconsin?! Admittedly my expectations were pretty low, but we came in during happy hour and got half off tacos. I got the shrimp diablo and carne fresco, and they were great. They use a double corn tortilla and pile on the cilantro, which I love. So tasty and filling, and very affordable during happy hour! Also the complimentary chips were a nice touch.

Well if so, do I have the place for you! Bandit Tacos & Coffee is a mashup of a few of my favorite things that I never knew I needed. While the tacos and Mexican inspired dishes and drinks are more focused on via the menu, the coffee shop vibe is the true essence of this space. The vibe is coffee shop that happens to serve tacos and margaritas too. The space is delightfully thought out from the seating to artwork, plants and even the music. We popped in for coffee and went with a classic Nitro Brew with Oat Milk and a Dirty Horchata. The drinks were stellar. I sipped on my cold brew for a while, and my buddy enjoyed his horchata. The horchata is fairly thick, so when he needed a little more coffee so he could get every drop they were happy to top him off at no charge. The tacos and food here are elevated taqueria style with fresh made masa/corn tortillas with the location from and the actual corn on display near the coffee tap. Prices were standard for both the coffee and food. Well worth on either end. Overall, we really enjoyed Bandit Tacos & Coffee. I have a growing list of repeat spots to visit and this spot is high on that list!

I chose asada and was satisfied by the tenderness of the meat, the bread was the right choice, the toppings were great and the side of fries were nice and crisp. It also came with a side of green and red salsa, which were both excellent. I also got the elote in a cup which was a good size for the price, and the horchata was well made but I wish it had a bit more cinnamon. They have a great sized menu so there are more options I'll need to come back and try. I've already got my eye on enchiladas de mole (a personal fave that I struggled to find outside the Midwest) and pozole, which I'm sure will be popular when the cold weather hits. Service was great and efficient. I took my order to go but there were a handful of tables available. There is a small parking lot that is shared with a couple other businesses but nearby street parking shouldn't be awful if it comes to it.

After trying different variations from other restaurants in Chicago and Madison, I have to say they have the best carne asada fries (titled Loaded Fries under the shareable section). The fries are wedged with an assortment of quac, sour cream, their own cheese sauce, and pico de gallo. What made it so good was the ratios of the ingredients and the cheese sauce. The portions are enough for two people to share, though you may leave with clogged arteries. Although at times there may be a language barrier with staff, they were attentive to our needs and checked on us regularly. My previous view was based hugely upon the poor customer experience that I had endured. But two weeks ago I returned because I was seriously craving a taco and the other nearby place had finally convinced me they were second rate. (I wrote a small bit, about that location, not more than a couple weeks back. I won't name it, but I rather hope these words will be taken to heart and affect change) But upon my reentry to this place I was beyond pleasantly surprised. Eduardo, the owner whom I have since met, is the reason why I have returned. An active and dedicated team needs their captain. So trying to reimagine the perfect taco place I had a fresh mindset and I think I was accurate about that choice. Today marks the 6th time in roughly 2 weeks. Basic ground beef tacos with onions, cilantro and some lime. Cheap and delicious. Absolutely not a bastardized low fat gringo taco. Not at all. Heavy on the filling and tasty. It's only missing one ingredient: spice. The orders include a pair of sauces, a green and red plastic cup with something resembling a hot sauce. Tuesday is a $1 ground beef taco. Sparse but not lacking in the meat. So glad I tried again. Eduardo has a key quality that makes a place feel welcoming. Friendly, and informative about the foods that are available. I don't speak Spanish, aside from simple jargon that every English speaker has to have as their basic vocabulary, even in regular American speak day to day situations. The place vibrates with a lot of ethnic authenticity right here in my Middleton neighborhood where I've lived now for 15 of my 25 years in Wisconsin.
