I tried their pasdilla, Which is a delicious poblano peppers stuffed with a variety of vegetables and cheese with carnita on too and it was absolutely delicious. Hubby had chile verde and he couldn't get enough. Their band came in looking sharp in their clothes and started playing around 630. Nice bar area,too. I was really happy that we finally tried this place via a Groupon deal. They have a good selection of traditional American and Mexican breakfast dishes, in addition to their fresh juice offerings. There is a complimentary chips and salsa bar: chips are thick and crispy, warmed by the heat lamp, and there is a good variety of tasty salsas, and to my delight, crema (sour cream). Me and my boyfriend both ordered the breakfast burrito ($8), his with chorizo, mine with carnitas, menos los frijoles (no beans). We also ordered a small ($4) "Vampiro" and "Aztec Sunset" juice. Both juices were delicious, just sweet enough, and filling (we just needed ice and ended up getting ours in to-go cups). My bf's burrito was brought out first, cut in half, and was a big size (think "super" burrito). Mine arrived a minute later, and looked so small in comparison to his (think "regular" burrito). I'll admit, I was a bit disappointed in the inconsistent size (because size DOES matter), but after I took my first few bites, the kitchen was forgiven. The carnitas was juicy and well-flavored and the cubed potatoes were tender and well-seasoned. I ate it all and was satisfied. My boyfriend wasn't as enamored with his chorizo burrito, but I took a bite and thought it was really good. I think he's just partial to Bacon & Butter's breakfast burrito! Service was good the second we walked in the door. Friendly greeting, shown to a booth right away, given menus, and offered the chips and salsa bar while we were deciding on our drinks/food. I am absolutely livid at this place. It is 5/5, they are extremely busy. A ton of people in the restaurant. I knew this, that is why I ordered online for pick up, they are extremely unprepared. I ordered my food at 5:17, it is now 6:10 and I am still sitting here waiting. My order was 2 burritos, nothing crazy. How can they be so disorganized and unprepared?! This is unacceptable!!!! Why accept online ordering and say 25 mins?! Th we e were so many people in and out of the restaurant, that is not safe during covid. Given the fact that this is a Mexican style restaurant, Their American style meals were definitely tastier than their chili verde. The chili verde was bland and the chunks of pork were not tender. The refried beans and rice were also bland...plus they said no one appreciated their homemade corn tortillas so they discontinued offering this item. Really? The sausages were tasty and the pancakes were good. A little higher in cost than other similar "diner" style restaurants. Why just two stars? First of all they had a Mexican band playing, so loud we could not talk. A horn player had his trumpet blaring. Bummer. The quacamole was really good, but my Suizas was not good. Had to use a knife to cut the enchilada, the chicken was slightly dry. There were radishes on the plate but they had no taste at all. The Spanish rice was boring and cold . Sheesh. And there was a terrible smell but think it was two females sitting at next table who had way too much perfume on. Not the restaufault.. don't think we'll come back here, ever. The mole tasted fine but the chicken had bones in it and was difficult to eat. The refried beans were so so. Not an outstanding meal. $100 including tip was just way too much for this. read more

My first visit was a few weeks ago with my two daughters for a "girls" lunch. We really enjoyed everything about this place! On our first visit they were very busy but we lucked out and were seated at a very nice corner booth. The service is quick and everything is served with a smile! The menu is extensive, but we finally decided on what is always our favorite combo plate, the Taco, Enchilada, Rice and Beans and our food was delicious! While we were there we noted that they have a different lunch special each day of the week and Wednesday was the Taco/Enchilada combo plate. So.. today, (Wednesday), two of us returned for the Wednesday special and it did not disappoint!! This is going to be our new lunch spot we'll have to try breakfast. I came here for lunch with a small group to celebrate a co-worker's birthday. They didn't get my order wrong but someone else in the party. I got a carne asada burrito and I felt like it was a little dry. Coming from Southern California, my standards may be a little high for Mexican food, but overall the food was okay. The portions are good sized and you can get all the condiments you want or expect from a great Mexican breakfast place or lunch too i guess.( I didn't have lunch),. Their green sauce is amazing and the burritos are huge and full of quality ingredients, just like their original restaurant Reya Azteca. Im only rating 4 stars because they're following the same trend as other doordash restaurants in disabling the special instructions in the app. Despite having the option to NOT choose guacamole or sourcream on their burritos, they put it on there anyways. I use to add in the special instructions "No guacamole please! Thank you!" and that would guarantee no guac. A mexican restaurant of all places should not have this option disabled. I probably will not be ordering from here anywhere near as frequently as I otherwise would. read more

I got takeout tonight. I was very dismayed to see that they're no longer following COVID protocols. They now allow indoor dining and customers arent socially-distanced from each other. Sad, because they used to be so good at following protocols. I will not be giving them any more of my business because of that. Having newly opened, I feel that the staff was unprepared for the volume of costumers that were in on this Saturday's brunch hour. My party was greeted and immediately taken to our table before it had been bused, so we stood around for an awkward few minutes while they worked to clean it off. Though the menu is huge and full of lots of great Mexican and American styled options, our server didn't seem to understand that it would take us a while to decide on our orders because he returned frequently and made us feel rushed. Having smoothie and juice options is a refreshing option to have in the Carmichael area but for the clean-eaters out there, know that none of it is organic. However, this may change in the future. We only ordered juices, which were pretty good, pancakes, which came in the generic, heavy Denny's style pancakes and eggs that were undercooked and gelatinous. Looking around at the portions of orders around me, it looked like a lot of food. Perhaps the Mexican style menu is more appetizing. Before when this location was an Indian buffet I came here​ often but hadn't been back since it became this restaurant. I liked​ the fact that it was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My first impression was good. It was spacious, comfortable and colorful, and enjoyed the background music that was playing. The service was fast and good, and the food was fresh and in generous proportions​. The chips are​ help-yourself and unlimited with salsa that comes in mild, medium, and hot, and there is also pico and more available. If you like your food salty you will love this place, but if, like me, you do not want to consume huge amounts of sodium you will have a hard time eating here. Salsa is salty but they also salt their chips. I felt the guacamole​ was also overly salty, and in most places where I get enchiladas​ they come with red sauce, but here it was a different sauce. I wasn't sure at first where all the saltiness came from but it wasn't from the cheese inside the enchilada but the sauce that was on it and so overly salty as to be inedible​ to me. If not for the heavy-hand with salt I would have enjoyed their food and be happy to return here, but as it was, it seemed to me like not a good choice for where to spend my money for lunch. I did see someone else eating a breakfast item and the French Toast looked good and that probably wouldn't be salty so I was thinking maybe if I wanted to return I could get that. read more

As I'm waiting to get chips...because they don't bring them to you...these two young Blane were chattin it up and not carrying that one person waiting for chips turned to two and three. One of these people was a waiter. Their y'all was very unprofessional. Very thuggish and ghetto talk. Finally as I was getting my chips..the one who was not an employee was getting his salsa. He kept licking his fingers and touching everything. Very unsanitary. At that point I put my basket down and walked away. My lunch was disgusting. Very bland and not flavorful at all. Went on 3/5/2017 and it was a very busy sunday morning. Was told that it was a roughly 30 min wait for a table so I went to the bar. Once my order was taken, it took about 40 mins to receive the Hearty Breakfast plate and some pancakes. So about the meal: It was not worth the wait. The eggs were luckwarm, same with the bacon and potatoes. I really didn't like the texture of the pancakes. When I tried to cut into them they had this rubbery texture to them and was not easy to cut. I-Hop's pancakes are much better. I had to ask for my water to be refilled. I believe there were too many customers for one bartender to handle at once. There were others there behind the bar but it seemed only one or two were really covering all the customers well. So all in all for the difficulty finding parking and the food wait, it just isn't worth it unless you are just dying for a Mexican breakfast. read more

Love Catina Azteca! We started going there in February of 2020. We always went in for brunch because they had a killer deal on the steak & eggs and bottomless mimosas. Lourdes was our waitress every time we went in. She is one of my favorite waitresses ever. She is so sweet & personable. We never got the special take-out during the Covid pandemic but I hear it was really good. We went in last Friday (7/10) since they have patio dining for their Happy Hour.
