    Chicken enchiladas

Your local Mexican joint! Started off with the chips and salsa which were incredible! I loved the salsa's flavor. The queso was good but a little runny and not as flavorful. We had the chicken enchiladas to share and they were bland. Honestly, the chicken tasted like rotisserie with no flavor. Not very impressive or memorable. The service was ok and the place seemed a little dated. I'd like to try other Mexican spots in the area!

Everything was perfect! Made reservations for 38+ adults and kids. Daniel was a great planner. He suggested the patio, long table for kids and longer table for adults. Ordered family style dinner and it went off without a glitch. Food was AMAZING! Esp guacamole.

Being a frequent tourist, excited to be in Destin and finally find a yummy Mexican food break from all the seafood places! Service was good, food was good and atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

Good but not great, which it has been in the past. The steak tacos were good but needed a kick of flavor, especially on the steak itself. Without the small slice of avocado and a generous squeeze of lime juice the taco almost tasted bland which was disappointing. The spinach enchilada was also begging for more seasoning or flavor, especially as a vegetarian option it needs all the flavor it can get. Overall service was fast for food and drinks with staff who seemed to be dedicated to running those items. However our server was hard to catch and almost never around our table so it took a good ten minutes to get the check. Everyone was friendly I just wish there was more attention to these details.

Stopped in for a quick lunch before getting groceries- the atmosphere is really nice, beautiful bar area. I ordered a sweet tea, they do not have tea, so logically I ordered a beer. The bartender was super nice. I liked the chips and salsa - it was fresh. I ordered the traditional tacos because as I said I was only getting a quick bite. The tacos were huge and tasty. All in all a good experience.

Parking: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Selection: 5 Service: 5 Prices: 4 Cantina Laredo has a great location on Grand Boulevard next to a plaza with a fountain. The building is beautiful and well maintained. The atmosphere is classy yet casual. It would be a great place for gatherings, dates, business meetings, or just to have a good time as a family. For having a name like "Grand Boulevard) the street is rather narrow and what little parking available there is parallel parking. I decided to park around back of the restaurant where there is plenty of parking. Having lived and traveled extensively in Mexico, I know Mexican food. If you are expecting authentic Mexican food you will be disappointed. Cantina Laredo specializes in Americanized Mexican food, more Texan than Mexican. I was there for a business meeting, and we ordered some queso dip and guacamole. Again these are Texan, not Mexican, but they were very tasty. The server brought a prep cart to our table and mixed the guacamole for us. The chips, rather than actual tortilla chips were the thin Tostito style chips. The chicken enchiladas were pretty good. They were generously filled with pulled chicken and were covered with a very mild green salsa. They came with sides of rice and beans. On the other hand, the sopa de tortilla was disappointing to me because it was not like anything called by that name in Mexico. It was pulled chicken in a salty enchilada(ish) sauce and only garnished with a few pieces of corn chips. Sopa de tortilla in Mexico does not have chicken, and the broth is very different. Mexican sopa de tortilla uses fried pieces of corn tortillas covered with a tomato based broth, and is garnished with avocado, Mexican cream, diced cheese (panela or fresco) and some toasted pasilla chiles. This had none of those. I think they need to rename the soup as "chicken enchilada soup" as it would be more honest. The service at Cantina Laredo was great... our server was friendly, efficient and kept our drinks topped off. Would I return? If a friend wanted to go I'd join them, otherwise I'd find a place with Mexican food.

I'm always leery about Mexican food - it tends to be heavier than I would like and I often just assume it might be low quality. Because of that pre-disposition, its not very often that a Mexican restaurant impresses me but this one certainly did. First off, my husband and I ordered margaritas and when they asked if we wanted small, medium or large we were like - "um...large". Holy cow, are they ever! We should have actually shared one because these things are huge! We each only finished half and they gave us to go cups for the remainder - popped them in the freezer and finishing them off tonight. And not only are they ginormous, but also delicious. A nice amount of tequila and good flavor! For food, we ordered steak fajitas - very good, thought I would have appreciated some guacamole with it. Tacos Birra - second or third time for my husband having these here because he likes them so dang much. And a 3 item combo with 2 soft shell corn tacos and a chile rellano. They were kind enough to allow my son to go slightly off menu with a carnitas taco instead of the basic ground beef or chicken and he very much liked it. My chile rellano was quite good as well. And since the chips and salsa always matter to my husband - we also enjoyed these throughout our meal. In fact, I even liked the salsa and don't usually eat it.

Blue Iguana is good! They kept some of the original decor but the interior is dressed up and really nice. I especially like the light up tree that replaced the fountain in the old place. We called ahead for a table for 8 and were told it would be no problem. By the time we arrived 15 min later, it was a bit of a problem. Pretty decent wait but we sat on the patio and listened to live music. Other patrons were kind of jerks and insisted on lining up at the hostess stand and holding the door open while they waited. It obviously didn't get them in faster, made them grumpy, and let a lot of hot air into the restaurant. People, just wait with the door closed. They will come get you. I got a phone call when table was ready which was a little weird. Luckily I answered the call from the unknown number. It was taco tuesday and one of my party had seen it mentioned on Instagram. Server didn't call out the special, so we would not have gotten the discount without asking. Special was something like $2.50 per taco with no side. My family loves a bargain so they had a great time with the deal. Other reviews mention BOGO margaritas, but we were seated 2 minutes after 7 so we missed that deal. I can't speak to anyone else's food but I got empanadas, elotes, and I got my daughter's charro beans and tortilla soup. The empanadas were good but one of them had a sour oil smell. Not amazing, probably would only order again to share and not as my meal. The elotes were a little different than I am used to. It was 4 partial corn cobs and the corn was kind of tough. The main flavor was tajin, not a lot of cream or cheese. The charro beans were the same from the old pedros, and they were the ONLY thing I liked from Pedros. They are still AMAZING. I was also really REALLY impressed with the tortilla soup. It was clearly homemade and so full of veggies and flavor. I could make a meal out of the beans and the soup! The chips and salsa were really good and refilled quickly. Everyone at my table seemed to like what they got. Lots of clean plates and no complaints. I woudl definitely go again. Huge upgrade from previous ownership.
