I've only eaten at Cantina Laredo twice in my entire life (once was at an airport). I don't leave reviews often but to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I ordered the chicken burrito and it was just a tortilla with bland and/or burnt tasting chicken chunks and refried beans inside. To mask the bland flavor of the burrito they just dumped a half gallon of melted velvets cheese on top, similar to high school concession stand nacho cheese. I'm convinced the rice on the side comes already cooked in a pouch as it tasted just like the stuff from the grocery store that's ready to eat and was undercooked for sure. I've been here a few times over the last few years and it's always good. We were seated quickly and immediately received chips and salsa. However it took 5 minutes or more to get water which was tough with salty chips. Our waiter was fun and full of energy and the food came quickly. I ordered double rice since I'm allergic to beans but received a plate with beans. No biggie, but a man different from our waiter brought our food and I said I'm sorry I actually ordered double rice because I'm allergic to beans. He glared at me and took my plate. I get it, it wasn't his fault... but I would have appreciated a little more kindness-- as it was also not my fault. The drinks here are FABULOUS, I got a strawberry mojito and it was quite strong! I also got the chicken enchiladas-- the sauce was great. The chicken was totally seasonless/ plain, which didn't bother me but might bother some. The chicken was well cooked (not too dry) so I didn't mind that it was on the plain side. Overall a good experience minus the minor drama. read more

We decided to take a break from seafood and try Mexican. This Cantina Laredo is located in a very nice upscale outdoor shopping area in SanDestin. Nearby restaurants include PF Changs, Michell's Fish Market, Fleming's Steak and stores such as Brooks Brothers. Even though it was a Wed night around 6:30pm, the restaurant was very busy and we were told about a 40 min wait. One of the first things I noticed about this place was how nicely it was designed. They put a lot of work into the layout of this restaurant. The outside areas were wide and open with ample space for large tables for big groups. There were large glass opening to the interior so that even if you were sitting outside, you felt like you were sitting inside. May not make much sense, but for some reason it impressed me. I found the restaurant's atmosphere inviting and pleasing. We were actually seated sooner than expected. As with every other Mexican restaurant, we eagerly awaited our gratuitous "chips & salsa". I was pleased to see that their chips were the "thin" kind and were warm... just recently out of the fryer! They put two different types of salsa on the table. One was cold and the other warm. The cold salsa was delicious. It was dark, spicy and full of flavor... one of the best salsas I've ever tasted, but it could've used more cilantro. You can never have too much cilantro in salsa! The warm salsa was a first for us. It also tasted delicious, but in a different way which I couldn't tell you how. Being warm made it taste not only different but gave you a choice. Clever and delicious! Right away we ordered the tableside guacamole. Our party of 6 watched in delight as the young lady carefully took the time to sanitize her hands (very professional) before proceeding. She carefully operated on the avocados, spiced them, added tomatoes and fresh jalapenos before presenting it on our table. It did not last long. 4 of us ordered two steak fajitas ($20 ea) to share. Each came with a healthy portion of meat and fixins accompanied with fresh soft tortillas. They all raved that the steak fajita was excellent. My son ordered the Relleno de Camarones ($17). He said the chille was good and the sauce was delicious, but the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. I ordered the Camarones Escondidos ($19). The grilled chicken breast was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender, but it wasn't "stuffed" with shrimp as the menu described. Instead the chicken breast was just placed on top of 5 small shrimp. My shrimp were also overcooked and rubbery. However the sautéed spinach in a chipotle-wine sauce was excellent. It almost made up for the shrimp! It came with a generous portion of mexican rice as well as a medley of zucchini and bellpeppper which tasted delicious. We were greeted with care. As I mentioned before, the aesthetics is superior. The place was packed with tourists and the bar area was filled to capacity with everyone talking and having a great time. There were about 4 large screen tvs mounted in a strategic places with various sporting events. Our waitress was excellent and attentive and my wife very much enjoyed her margarita. If you're looking for a nice and lively atmosphere to enjoy some great salsa and good mexican food but don't mind paying more than usual, then this is your place. read more

Cantina Laredo is a huge Tex-Mex restaurant in Grand Blvd. It's absolutely gigantic. One of the things that set this place apart from the other restaurants in Grand Blvd: It seems reasonably priced. Yes, it's still fancy and extravagant. And you can absolute waste hundreds of dollars here on drinks. But the entrees seem like a great value. They also have a ton of TVs playing whatever sports broadcast. So your girl can get drunk off of margaritas, sangrias, and whatever. While the dudes can watch the game and enjoy their tacos. The food here isn't bad. I consider it high-end Tex-Mex. The food is pretty much on par with other Tex-Mex places you've probably been before. I tried their Ceviche. I didn't like it. It was way too sour. They must have drowned their snapper in tons of lime. I ordered their guacamole. Like a good, high-end, Tex-Mex place, they made it in front of you. They used an avocado, tomatoes, spices (salt, pepper, and probably garlic powder), red onions, cilantro, and lime. That's it, pretty simple. I appreciated how he didn't add any other cream-based product. I don't understand why people add cream to their guac. It's already fatty from the avocado. The guac tasted great and creamy. It was a solid, simple guac. I tried their Sopa De Tortilla. It was good. The chicken seemed tender. The flavors were good. I tried their "Cancun". It's their combination dish. It comes with a ground sirloin enchilada, chicken enchilada, and a beef taco. The beef taco came on a hard shell with shredded lettuce, cheddar, and tomato--total gringo style. Boo. Then again, if it came in a soft shell, how would it be different from an enchilada? Maybe the beef taco should've been a pork enchilada, inspired by Cochinita Pibil, since they name the dish "Cancun." Hey Cantina Laredo, you can steal that idea. I don't mind. It better be there in the menu next time I come. I liked their enchiladas. I mean it's just meat wrapped in tortilla with sauce. Who can mess that up? The meat seemed juicy and tender, and I enjoyed it. The dish also came with the standard beans and rice. Those were good as well. They make their drinks strong, and their food is pretty good. If you're craving some Tex-Mex, try this place out. read more

OK, I know my Mexican food, not because I am Mexican, but I am An American Latina, who loves her Mexican food. I can tell you that this place comes nowhere to it. The flavor is just awful, you have no flavor, you have to add salt or ask for salsa just to flavor this food. If you have gone to eat Mexican food in any southern state, this will be a waste of your time. The place looks beautiful but the food is worse than bland. You also have to wait 40 minutes to an hour just to get your food. And we were only three tables being served in the entire place. No I will never come here again! Also the fajitas were very rubbery. I had to ask multiple times for water refills. The food was pretty bland. The queso basically tasted like nothing. We dropped in on this place after finding the bar at Tommy Bahamas to be closed on NYE. The Yelp community rates this place well and so therefore if it's on Yelp then it must be true. We walked in on an empty hostess stand, not a big deal. When a hostess walked up she said nothing, grabbed her purse, and then walked out. WTF right? A waiter noticed, came up, and tried to help but had no idea where the seating chart was. Shortly after, a hostess now on duty came up and took care of us, in silence. Not too much of a big deal as everyone has their days, maybe more so on a NYE. If you've been to Houston and have been to Esclanates then you'll 100% believe the two are the same. The menu is about the same with just as consistent food. Oh yeah, and there is table side guacamole, a Pappasitos first....just saying. I was feeling like a fat lard after adding on 10 pounds of holiday feast so I opted for something "healthy" and went for the Espinaca enchiladas. The presentation was great, the flavor was spot on, but they were definitely unfulfilling....sadly what I was looking for. My Mom ordered the Polla Tinga burrito, insanely good. My Dad ordered the same as I and my wife ordered the Avocado enchiladas. All of which hit the spot, except the rice. Some of the rice was uncooked which made for a rude awakening to an otherwise great meal. When it came to drinks, the beer choices were minimal but when their is tequila why order beer? We had a few house margaritas which were GREAT! Sauza is used in the house ritas which is always a great mixing for margaritas. Now, the money saver. The Grand Boulevard has their restaurants charge an "Arts and Entertainment Fee" WHICH YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. You will see it on your check, just tell your waiter/waitress that you don't want to pay it and they will take it off. After eating at a few places on the Grand Boulevard nobody has been able to fully explain what it goes to. I guess it goes to their monthly Spotify fee to play music around the place as there were no starving artists, jugglers, or petting zoos when we were there. At any rate, Cantina Laredo at Grand Boulevard is definitely worth going to if you need a break from fresh and delicious seafood. read more

We moved to Navarre two years ago from spending my entire life in Texas. Cantina Laredo was so very popular in Dallas. This is like going home for us. We do like spicy salsa, but apparently it's not popular here. We're headed there now for early lunch (hopefully, migas!!). We love the TexMex food and drive an hour often to get here!!!!
