We were first introduced to this restaurant by my son (who lived in the area) in 2007 one time when we were visiting Vancouver, and I remember it as being pretty good. Since then, we relocated back to the Pacific NW from Reno, NV in 2011, and moved into the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver, not too far from this restaurant. . We have been eating at this establishment somewhat regularly, as it is the best that we have found so far, and the prices are reasonable. Once they recognize you as having been in before, they are much more friendly and appreciative of the repeat patronage. There doesn't seem to be much of a change of the dishes served, but that's ok, because then I learn what I like best and know that it will be available when we go in. Hubby LOVES the hot oysters and will eat a lot of those, but with consideration of others, and not eat them all. They do well about keeping the tray replaced once empty or close to being empty, as is done with all of the foods. They also have trays of clean utensils available, which I'm appreciative of, as I do like to change out to clean utensils periodically. And they are always quick about keeping the dishes bussed from the table, again, appreciated. I like that they always have the long green beans available, as I use those as the first layer on my plate for the main dishes on top. The General Tso's is good, not too spicy, as is the hot shrimp and vegetables dish. There are sauces available for self-serve, the hot chili sauce, etc, over by the soups; they are in pour top servers, which is a great idea, too, rather than open top containers. There is not a lot of sushi options, but enough for me, as I'm not a sushi connoisseur and when visiting a buffet, is the only form of rice that I'll eat. I like that they have sliced, pickled ginger available, as I eat a lot of that: mmmm mmmm GOOD! And good for you, too! The hot tea is good too, and only 50c per person, served in a stainless steel teapot. Very reasonable, as some other places I've been have charged $1 for just a cup. The salad selection is small, but if I want a lot of options of salad, I'll go to Sweet Tomatoes instead. They do get very busy at times, which is a good sign, and we've never had to wait very long to be seated. In summation, good food, great place to go. read more

Absolutely the worst service today. My husband and I have been going here for years and never had a problem until today. My mother in law is here visiting from California and loves Chinese food so we said we know the place to go. At first everything was good, my husband ran out of soda and we tried getting someone's attention for a refill and was totally ignored. One of the waitresses brought us our bill and made no eye contact at all put our bill on table and walked away. My husband gave me our credit card so I could go pay while he waited for his mother that was in the restroom. So I went to pay and sign the slip and she was apparently upset because I left no tip, she said to me " no tip" I said no and she called the other waitress over and pointed at the slip and said " no tip" and were talking amongst one another and was clearly upset. So I told my husband and he went right over and told them why they got no tip. As he walked away they were pissed and yaking away. To start with they opened late. We go to get our food and everything looked ok, but it went down hill from that point on. We got back to our table with the food and the food that should be hot was barely warm and the food that should be cold was not. Sometimes you're just in the mood to stuff your face with Chinese food and for that purpose we have the Chinese Buffet. The trick is knowing which place to eat at and which to avoid. Before Yelp it was strictly word of mouth or simple luck (don't ask about when the luck ran out) that would guide you to the better places. Now though, we have Yelp and other websites to weed out the bad places. I am here to tell you that this one of the better ones, So why only three stars you ask? There are several buffets in Vancouver and the best one I know of rates four for me, so how can I go higher? Doesn't mean I don't think this place is good, it is, and The Wife and I have been back several times and will again. So don't think three is bad, like a Vulcan one could just state that it is satisfactory which among Vulcan's is high praise indeed. I like this place because it is not like many other buffets just another chapter of the cheap Chinese Buffet cookbook "All Things Chicken". There are shrimp, pork, sushi, some beef dishes and what is chicken is pretty good. There are lots of breaded options for the kids and dessert is above average. My new thing is grading handicapped access since I am temporarily working on one foot. There are two handicapped spots with a nice ramp between them. Access to the restaurant is a little tricky, the ramp is a little steep and the angle is abrupt at the bottom so you have to go slow. There is plenty of room between tables if you have a knee scooter or walker and the floor is free of obstacles. All in all a C+ for handicapped access. read more

Only went here because we were roadtripping on our way to/from Portland. We didnt want fast food and just picked this place out. There was another Chinese buffet down the road as well. At first glance, the food appeared good. I have to admit the fried offerings made up about 90% of the buffet, but was pretty good. However, this buffet lacked variety and it was overall, a bit sweet. I was most disappointed since I felt misled when I read the sign that the lunch buffet was $6.95. No, on SUNDAYS, the cost is higher at $10. This could have been mentioned when I first arrived. I've been to better buffets in more metropolitan cities, but this one's ok. I would have given 2 stars if the fried foods were overdone but it does appear they change the oil. read more

As Chinese buffet goes, this is one of the much better ones around Vancouver. The focus is on Chinese food of the Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Southern style minus the dim sums. A couple of thing that may turn people off. It's not in the best of areas, but at no time did I felt danger. The clientele range from elderly to teens, and is really no different than those you find in other buffets. It's not the cleanest place in the world. But the staff is friendly. Ok everyone, this place is the real throwback to the 1960s Chinese buffet food. It's the Americanized version that Chinese immigrants found would sell and this place probably hasn't changed since it opened. The decor! Totally retro! The speedy staff who aren't nice, just want to hustle you in and out, lickety split! The two best dishes are the French fries, trust me, these are the best in town! And the unlimited soft ice cream twist machine. The Chinese food is almost all fried except for a few dishes with vegetables added ( not bad!). Tons of seafood so that's a deal as it's unlimited. If you are vegetarian, they apparently never heard of tofu on the buffet so bring your chopsticks to pick your veggies out of the beef and chicken dishes. And the very best part is the scrolling reader board outside says OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK!!!! Beware, this does not include Tuesdays or after 8 pm as that is when Vancouver rolls up the sidewalks. She practically threw silverware at us, dropped the drinks on the table, and was generally angry to be there. The food, the stuff that wasn't coated in sugary sauce, was barely cooked. Couldn't tell the difference between the chicken and pork, the flavor of both was dried shoe leather. My daughter got some ice cream and she said it tasted like cold condensed milk and vanilla extract. This place does have a decent ambience. Parking was plenty on the outside. They had good number of choices for appetizers. Meat eaters had plenty of choices, but for vegetarians they had only two main dishes - lo mein, and beans . Deserts were good - coconut and almond cookies, cream puffs, fruit, and ice cream. Overall good price for the quantity. Adults eat for 11.50$ and kids for 5.50$ on a saturday. read more
