Was a regular but the past few meals have been subpar. Dishes are not as tasty and the duck was dry and stale. Noodles in the soup were clumped and dried out- didn't seem fresh. Going to avoid for awhile since it seems something in the kitchen changed. Service is still good. Disappointed in the food. read more

Listen, you're not here for decor or haute cuisine. You are here for either good shamelessly Americanized-Polynesianized Chinese food, or you're here for the dim sum. Or the HK Style chow mein, which seems to really confuse some folks, but this is...well, kinda like it is in Hong Kong, but it seems to stem from a few place in the Yay Area that call it that. I'm all about the dim sum here. Cooked to order *or* off the cart, which was very confusing for me at first, but the cart has the top items and has had chicken feet every time I've been there. I haven't gotten a Groupon or any discounts to speak of and it was quite nicely priced. Ambience? No. Good food? Heck yes. Competent dim sum in the burbs? Oh heck yes. Now, let's take it to the next level: the lounge. Now, greasy Americanized Chinese food is normally not my bag, but when the booze is flowing, sizzling beef and scallops sounds amazing. Oh, sorry, it won't be greasy at all. It'll be savory and tasty with crunchy veggies and sauce that came from no can, something I can tell you since they were easily able to vary the menu for our gluten-free pal and he was *fine*. So...if you're here for that kind of food, that's pretty gosh darn good. Karaoke, alcohol, and...other things consumed more than 25 feet from the door may have been a factor. No skimping on the seafood, either, which makes me happy, and they clearly double-cook (aka "velvet") what they serve, which is the oldest trick in the book for making food taste amazing and yet is a frequently cut corner these days. The drinks in the lounge are as stiff as you'd expect in a semi-dive format. The cold cheap tallboy of choice is Rainier, +1 star if they didn't have 5 already. Could it use a cleaning? Every dive *could*. Does it need one? Heck no. It keeps the tender breadcrumbs who order the blandest thing on the menu and whine about plating out. You can keep your fancy plating and artisan nonsense. At this joint, texture and flavor reign together and the chili oil kicks like a mule. read more

Very sad that they allowed their employee to add $3.25 to an $8.50 to go order after we crossed out tip and totaled it for the $8.50 and than tell us it was a banking error. They should be concerned that they have an employee that is stealing from their custmoers. We will never do business with them again. read more

I had excellent service and the food was pretty great. I ordered A LOT of dim sum and a side of steamed rice. I haven't had dim sum since I was back at home in Hawaii. I was so excited to eat it that I forgot to take a photo! I will definitely be back though! read more

We went late at 9pm and they were cleaning in preparation for close. We were greeted by a customer who asked us if we had been there before and we replied"no, this is our first time". He said he stumbled upon this place while visiting his son and now every time he visits he stops in. He said the beef chow fun is delicious and so is the baby boy chow with garlic is a great too. I went for the beef chow fun and it was great! The potion sizes are also large with made for great leftoves. We will definitely be back, the $10 for $20 deal got us in and with or without the coupon we will be back. Great Chinese. There dim sum on a Sunday afternoon rivals the great spots on the east side.

Apparently they changed ownership. Other than the new name, the outside looks the same, the inside looks the same, the staff is the same, the menus looks similar if not the same, the food the same. So if you liked this restaurant when it was the Lucky Bistro, you'll probably still like it. I think the food is is average ... the service was super slow even though there were very few customers. read more

Lucky Bistro is now Canton Phoenix. They still have great dim sums and it's very affordable. We used the Yelp deal here and saved quite a bit on our bill. Everything made out fresh and you might have to wait a bit, but it's totally worth it. Great place for dim sum and it's the only dim sum place around Tigard/King City area. read more

This was a very pleasant surprise! Couldn't have got any better! We started out with deep fried pot stickers which were very tasty indeed! Then we had soup, I had Egg Flower, my partner had Won-ton. This was probably the disappointing part for me, the egg flower soup had corn in it and I am not used to seeing that in egg flower soup. It was great and I love corn, just seemed weird. On the entrees, I went for the Ginger Chicken and my partner went with Double Mushroom Chicken. DEEEEEEEEEEE LISH!! MMMM MMM MMM GOOD! The ginger in mine was warming and soothing like Chinese comfort food. So tasty and fresh! The double mushroom chicken was amazing too. There was a huge crowd of Chinese students who were visiting here for a week. That didn't seem to slow down the service any. Jenny and Danny were EXCELLENT! We would highly recommend this place. We heard it has changed hands a lot. But I hope this management stays here. Very clean! The well trained staff and out of their way service were big pluses for me! Finally got a great Chinese restaurant in Portland, OR. Hard to find those here. We moved here from SF, CA and this place measures up pretty good. Kudos! We will return! YUMM! read more

I have been here twice. The first time the food was pretty good, but not exceptional. Their pricing for lunch was great though, so I thought I would give it another chance. I received the worst case of food poisoning my doctor had seen in all his years of practice. I know it was caused by this place after talking with the Oregon health board and tracking down any causes. My BBQ was under-cooked. I was eating in the dark at home as I ordered it for take out. I eat it with a lot of hot mustard, so I did not notice it tasting funny, but I noticed the texture just wasn't right about half way in. I turned on the light to see nearly raw pork. I figured this was not worth writing a review until I talked to two separate people that had food poisoning after eating dim sum. I think this place needs health inspector to come by and say hello. read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants! I ordered the Mongolian Beef and it was the best I ever had. I had a waitress with dark red hair and she's great! Very friendly and helpful! Along with the rest of the staff was so welcoming and nice! Definitely coming back! read more

Moving my critique of the old "Silver Palace" to here.. Very much the same but new owner HAS spruced the place up a bit. Tried some Dim Sum today and it was very good... OK, so "The Empress" in LA it ain't... Nor the "New Asia" in Frisco... Nor even "Yu's" in Frisco and it doesn't have the feel of the International District in Seattle.... But hey Pilgrim, it is GOOD Dim Sum and right around the corner!! Start out with some delicious sweet green beans to wett yer appetite, then some Siu Mai, Hog Gow, & Fun Gor. They will even make you some Yee Chee Gow!! Don't miss the shrimp ball on Bell Pepper and especially the Sticky Rice/"Normy Gai" (which I suspect was invented so Occidentals could eat rice with chopsticks).. Float some chili oil over soy sauce and gauge it until your eyelids begin sweating!!! Now your onto it Horace... A Ching Dow (Tsing Tao) Beer, maybe a Bloody Mary, and your headed for nap land in front of the NBA!!! S'matter of fact, you can get your food in the all too perfectly neglected "Dive" bar (which we taught how to make a Martini) and watch the game while you eat!!! Try and do THAT at the "New Asia"??!!%%$$ Don't know why some folks had a negative experience.. Suggest they look in the mirror... Yer WHITE!!!! I attended the Roaring 20s New Year's Eve party. I was excited to go but was very disappointed in the level of service. It took an hour and a half to get my dinner.... and it was cold when I got it. The lines at the bar forever. The bartenders worked extremely hard and were always pleasant, but it was clearly understaffed for a planned event. We noticed the Yelp coupon and purchased it mainly for the Dim Sum. With the mixed reviews we were a bit on the fence but ended up pleasantly surprised. The offerings were good and they would cook to order items that were not out. We also ordered a plate of salted fish and chicken fried rice and it was amazing! We will return. I highly discourage you to use the $10 for $20 yelp coupon to eat here. I was clever and bought the coupon and ordered a meal that totaled $19.90 and planned on picking it up via takeout and leaving a suitable tip. When I arrive they attempted to charge me additional money for it being a YELP coupon. They told me verbatim "we do not charge this fee unless its a yelp coupon" and on the coupon it clearly states they can not charge additional fees or place additional restrictions on the order because you are redeeming the coupon. I refused the food and demanded a refund from yelp because I am not going to be cheated. The worst part of all the is the owner called me and tried to substantiate why he is imposing fees on yelp users and when I told him it was canard and he used personal profanity at me. I gotta give this place some love, I've had it twice now and I'm definitely a fan. Plus, the fact that they deliver gives them huge kudos from me. The first time I had Canton Phoenix, I was at home sick with a cold, so I turned to Yelp to find me a place within my area that delivers, but I wasn't looking for the average delivery. I wanted soup and hot food that would warm my spirits, so I gave Canton Phoenix a call. I had their version of Pho, which wasn't half bad at all. It had veggies, tasty broth, and BBQ pork slices with noodles. I also had sesame chicken with a little spice. I was very pleased with the delivery service and the food. Yum. The second time I tried this place I ordered for pick-up. I got Kung-Pao chicken, cashew chicken, and the everything fried rice which literally had everything in it. Pork, chicken, egg, shrimp, and veggie pieces. Very moist and tasty, and the shrimp was perfect. I hate when I order fried rice and I get dried out rice and meat. Not here, well done Canton Phoenix! Although I haven't dined in here yet, it doesn't matter, the food is terrific no matter where I eat it. I'll definitely be back. read more

Went to this place on our road trip because of the yelp reviews. It was nice that they serve dim sum even during dinner time! Although the honey walnut shrimp was disappointing, we really enjoyed their veggies, especially the snow pea vine with garlic sauce. Other dim sum were not the best I've had, but were pretty good too. We also had their combination dish with sweet and sour chicken, veggies, and fried rice, but it was disappointing. If I'm around, I might go back for their veggies and steamed dim sum. But the server was very friendly, and they had coloring books for kids, which makes it a lot easier for parents to handle kids! ;) read more

BBQ pork steamed bun - This is one of my favorite dishes from childhood. I was Happy when I saw it on the menu and even happier to learn they served from the dim sum menu all the time! It was fluffy and delicious... not very generous with the BBQ pork filling though, unfortunately. BBQ pork fried rice - again delicious, but I found the serving size to be pretty modest...not abundant tonight as other posters have implied. Kung pao chicken - very good flavor. Perfect spice level. very little chicken and maybe 3 peanuts in the dish though. I wish there was more sauce for the rice as well. Mongolian beef - to me the weakest link of the meal. Not bad just boring. The loose leaf hot tea is nice. They push too hard for the beverage upsell beyond hot tea and ice water. We must have been asked 5 times between 3 different wait staff. Lastly, I found it odd that they were confused about the yelp 10 for 20 deal, as if it was the first time it was ever presented. I wasn't thrilled with them passing my phone around to 3 different people and disappearing with it for 10 minutes! The service, made this 3 stars instead of four for me. read more

Nope,don't go here. Went in for Dim Sum in the middle of the afternoon. There were only 2 other tables occupied. I thought great,not busy should be quick service and good food. Not. Received cold dim sum left overs from the night before, not even an attempt to be heated. Fresh from the fridge cold pork buns, soggy cold shui mei, cold solid steamed custard buns, and stone cold sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves. 20 minutes after we ordered, Really?The woman at another table also received the same standard of food and actually asked if she could use the microwave. I've eaten here and Luck Bistro many times. Also Chinatown in Beaverton. I have eaten a lot of dim sum from Houston, San Francsico, Portland, Seattle etc. and although sometimes a little inconsistent the dim sum from these outfits often rate as the best sum around. I usually am impressed and often I have found the ha gow in particular to be some of the best and plumpest anywhere. I've had better normy gai. I'm always happy on the whole. The variety is sometimes not as great as I would like, but the prices are largely fair and I love going there. I feel that if their volume was better the variety and quality would probably grow. We have ate there a few times now since moving to Tigard and it actually pretty good. It is probably the best pork fried rice I have had, it isn't dry like most has alot of BBQ pork. The Groupon's they have ate great lunch 10$ worth food for 5$ and dinner 20$ of food for 10$. The service is a hit or miss if you get good service. The bar is a very sketchy. I have heard from multiple bar goers that it is not safe to start a tab as they will over charge. Almost any other restaurant will be better than the food you will be served. The food is salty and tasteless and anything fried tastes like old oil that has never been changed. This is the best and authentic chinese food in all of Portland!!! My hubby and I came from California, which like New York, is the mecca of world cuisine, so believe us when we say this place is excellent chinese food. Some of our favorites are house special fried rice, hong kong style house special chow mein, honey walnut shrimp, beef hot pot, salted pepper beef short ribs, shrimp, squid, pork chop, Singapore style noodles, moo shoo, wo kok, among other things. I've been going to this place for many years and have always loved the food and people. Since it has been Canton Phoenix is has only gotten better! The food is great and the staff including the bartenders are great also. It is a great place to go for a great meal, or meet up with some friends for drinks and a game on TV or karaoke in the bar. I recently read a review by Angie I and not only was her review cruel and rude but way off base and usually when visiting Canton you won't have to experience ugly and unhappy people like Angie.
