My friends and I met up here for dinner. We were a group of 6. It's not a huge restaurant, maybe about 6 large tables. The BBQ counter dominates the entrance. In fact, because of its popularity, during our entire dinner, the queue for the take out BBQ orders spills to the middle of the restaurant. Food is good here for the most part---a crunchy delicious Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef Tenderloin with Eggplants and Peppers, Pea Tips with Garlic---all prepared well. The let down is the Peking Duck and Fried Rice that used the leftover duck meat. The fried rice was bland and the duck skin was meh. The house soup was unappealing and just ok. Saturday night no reso we were very lucky to get a table, this place was busy! The service was pretty good and food came out fast. The peking duck wrap was not okay but not as good as I hoped for. Has maybe 10 tables of various size, not that big. No frills decor, no attempts to look modern or fancy. Pretty busy on a weekend night for takeout BBQ meats, and the dine-in was mostly filled too. Not surprisingly, all the staff spoke Cantonese. Dine-in menu has their BBQ meats, and also a decent number of stir fry and seafood options. Got their 3 person combo which includes a plate of 2 BBQ meats, soup of the day, and two other dishes of choice plus 3 bowls of white rice. We also got their signature fried noodle which is not on any of their menus, but you can ask the server for fried rice and noodle options. We got crispy pork and roast duck for the BBQ, and they were pretty good. Crispy pork skin was crispy and the saltiness was at a good level. The other dishes had pretty good portions. Gai lan beef had plenty of beef. The halibut clay pot had more fillers like pork and napa, but the flavor was good. The fried noodles came with chicken, char shiu pork, and various seafood pieces. Was craving for Lobster Rice and heard they serve this. As it is conveniently located in Richmond, we decided to give it a try. Restaurant looks like every Chinese resto - no sophisticated interior but it caters practically to the organized chaos inside - BBQ meats by the door readily available for take outs. No reservations necessary although we made one a week ago, we walked in and they didn't bother to check. Server recommended the small size (2 lbs lobster) lobster rice for 4 of us. There was another special - Ling Cod cooked two ways. She suggested the head made into a soup while the fillet sautéed with celery. We ordered a A-Choy veggie sautéed in fermented bean curd. Lobster Rice is tasty although lobster is coated with too much cornstarch. Rice is pure glutinous rice so it is heavy, not quite the fried rice feel. Fish Head Soup is tasty but Fish Fillet sautéed with veggies was a bit bland,. I like the A-Choy but then again, sauce is thickened with lots of cornstarch. read more

Pretty decent hk bbq with not much of a wait on Capstan Way. Got BBQ pork and goose for my rice combo and was so surprised that it came with soup for both me and my friend. It came with a big pot of soup for the entire table and the portion was massive. THE BIG: Located in Richmond. This is an unassuming Cantonese joint that only has cantonese speaking people inside eating. It has terrible reviews on google but that makes it even better. Tons of parking available in the parking lot and it can get packed. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Took my parents here when we were visiting Vancouver and it was so good, we went twice! My mom especially loved their Cantonese poached chicken. It was cold but the texture of the skin was amazing! We also got the bbq duck, a couple of vegetable dishes like gailan to round out the meal. Before the meal, we got soup and after the meal we got more soup but sweet! It varies depending on what the kitchen wants to send. The first time we got red bean vs the second we got mung bean. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done was around 120 CAD for three to four dishes. Definitely recommend this place for authentic cantonese dining. read more

Authentic Cantonese food. Canto parents approved. My parents are super hard to please and they really liked this place. Not just the price but the quality of food and the additional items that they brought precursor soup and a not too sweet after meal dessert. The space is tight but the servers are accommodating even breaking out more tables and chairs for some of the larger parties. 20 minutes was the longest time it took to get seated, that's pretty fast for prime dinner times. I never knew that how you prepare chicken could be so different. We ordered the combination bbq items and a hot stone pork bowl, cold boiled chicken with scallion ginger sauce. The cold boiled chicken was so good. The skin was slick and so yummy. In fact everything was delicious. From start to end. It was so good that my parents wanted to come back. Everything was great even the second time! The cha siu was legit, the roast duck was the perfect amount of crispy. If I come back to Vancouver I'd definitely be back here again. read more

Came here cause someone told my mom the bbq duck noodle here was good. Overall very disappointed with my experience here. Service was abysmal/ nonexistent... well.. at least the waitress with a ponytail (March 29th 4:45pm) was absolutely horrible. We asked her if they have a certain item and she'd respond with "of course we have it. Just look at the menu" in Cantonese. We wouldn't have asked if we saw it on the menu. Asked her if it's possible to get milk tea less sweet & less ice. And she'd respond with "everything is premade". Pretty much (take it or leave it) attitude. After she vacuums the carpet in front of us while we're eating with gloves on. She uses those very same gloves to give me an unwrapped plastic straw. I'm so thankful I always carry my own metal straw. Overall, the duck's not bad. At least the back portion was good and the skin was pretty crispy. But I hated the soggy noodles with subpar soup. Plum sauce was also the cheap kind you get in a glass jar. And the milk tea was probably the worst milk tea I've ever had in my life. And I've been drinking milk teas for over 15 years now. $5 for an extremely sweet and burnt pre made tea. Waited for the ice to melt in the tea for over 3 hours, and it was still rubbish. It makes sense why close to nobody eats in at the restaurant and just buy the bbq meat to go. Overall, $20 for the bbq duck soup and terrible milk tea. I stilled tipped the obligatory 10%. Probably could have done without, but it also felt beneath me. And at least the duck itself was decent. I honestly try not to give 1 stars to anybody since Covid (I'd rather not write the review at all), but this experience was just too terrible to not write about. read more

I had the chicken with Ginger and rice. So good! It reminded me of what I had in Singapore, except this was better. The chicken was perfectly tender. My uncle stuck with his tried and true sweet and sour pork with pineapple. He said it's better than what he gets at home. My aunt however had the best meal! Curry Chicken. This was by far our favorite dish! The waitress was direct but they were all busy the entire time we were there. She wasn't chatty, but on the way out when I thanked one for our meal they all they were all brightened up and were so friendly, inviting us back anytime. If I lived in town I'd be here once a week for that curried chicken and vegetables. Hot tea and hot soup came with our meals. It felt like what my husband would make us at home. Pork and something like cabbage, that I've never had before. Clean restaurant with prompt service. Update: Since giving up on this Chinese Style BBQ place a while back, my recent visits warrants me to give this place 2 more stars! On different occasions, I ate in and also took out, and both were more then satisfactory. Special mention is their BBQ Duck, in my previous review, I pointed out that when we ordered take out lunch box with different kinds of BBQ combination meats they were mostly bones etc. not very much edible meat. Learning from experience, I have since ordered the meat separately e.g. 1/2 BBQ Duck for $14.50 to go with my own rice or noodles at home and that turns out to be a much better deal and quality. Also I find that when you eat in their portions are more reasonable and the cut of the meat to be much better then their take our rice box. So, for now they have earned my 2 stars to upgrade to a 3, lets see if their quality and standard can last! If you think this is one of the many Cantonese BBQ takeout place where you buy char siu or soya sauce chicken back home, you are only half right. Their dine-in dishes are really good as well. Dishes are all well seasoned, perfectly marinated, and piping hot. They even have some not so common/ more traditional dishes. If it's not so far away from me, I'd go there more often. read more

According to this price, I assumed size small meant half a duck - but boy was I wrong. It seems that $15.94 only gets you a quarter of a duck - or it did for me at least. But the best part was that this place also seem to have a fluid pricing system because when I went to pick up my order, the price suddenly increased to $19.98. I was thankful that I had proof on my phone that showed I owed only $15.94. I had to provide it as proof to the lady at the counter and then she begrudgingly accepted my payment. To top it all off, the duck I was ripped off for was neither fresh nor tasty. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. You'll have to deal with unpleasant staff and will likely get scammed read more

We got there around 5:30 and there was already a line for the BBQ. We got a garlic stir-fried Choy sum veggies. They were a bit on the oily side. We also ordered a duck/roast pork (燒肉) rice, and 1/2 pound of BBQ pork. The roast pork was unfortunately soggy skin since they had closed the take out box and we had to wait for the veggies so the steam from the rice had made the skin soggy. The taste was good though. I've come here several times for family dinners and my review may be a little skewed since I'm not the one in charge of the bill - because who doesn't like free food, right? They have a variety of Chinese dishes but some of my favourites are below. Giant Wintermelon Soup - served in a carved out melon so the presentation is impressive. The soup is favourful with the mushrooms, roasted duck and sweet wintermelon. Chinese-style Crab - finely crusted and fried the crab is sweet inside and it comes with noodles underneath that helps to soak up the sauces and compliment the crab. Finally a dish you probably came here for specifically is their Assorted BBQ Meats Platter - Their Crispy Skin Pork has the crispiest skin and juicy meat. The Roasted Duck is tender and has a rich duck flavour. The BBQ Pork is super tender and the sauce drizzled on top adds that familiar sweetness. The restaurant inside can get pretty busy and the seating can be pretty tight as well. But service is usually timely and nice. This place is like a typical lunch cafe and there was not much to mention. On that day, we ordered the BBQ Duck with rice and Tsing Tao Fried Noodles. The Noodles tasted great, well-portion and it was just like I used to taste when I was in Hong Kong. As for the BBQ Duck, it tasted great too. Got the chicken which was really tender but didn't have much flavor to it. I know you can eat with the scallion ginger oil. Not bad but not the best either in my opinion. Char Siu had a good mix of lean and fatty pieces and was pretty flavorful. This one stood out to me a little more. They answered our questions and didn't show any attitudes when we didn't order any daily specials (expensive dishes). We ordered chicken, scrambled egg with shrimp, roasted pork and barbecue pork. Ordered the 3 bbq item combination: soy sauce chicken is moist and flavorful.with a side of ginger sauce a la Hainan style, bbq pork is very good and legit, bbq duck was good in taste and presentation, but too salty on the dry rub bones side. Also, limited English made it a bit awkward, but the menu is in English, so just power through it. The roast pork was nice. Layers of fat and layers of lean meat. The skin was crispy. The only problem I had with the roast pork was that it almost tastes like it was dipped in oil. I rarely give 4 stars to any asian place let alone 5. The last star is mainly left for a high level of service and complexities of flavours. I had low or no expectations of this place from the mixed reviews on Yelp. My friend and I ordered the 2 meat combo, roast pork and bbq pork and a bowl of rice. The bbq pork was one of the best I've had in my life. The cut we got was odourless and tender and not dry. I noticed most places don't treat the meats proper before cooking and tend to have a strong odour. The colour of the skin on the roasted pork wasn't charred- it was a nice orange. On serving the meat, the boss offered a complimentary bowl of soup and it was a big bowl with a ladle. The soup wasn't fantastic by any means but the big bowl of soup made it feel homely and warm on a cold night. At the end of the meal we even got 2 complimentary small bowls of green bean soup. This was one of my favourite place for bbq. Until today, the owner's wife was terrible! I asked for half a pound of bbq ribs, they gave me almost close to 1lb of ribs. When I asked them why am I getting charged close to $7 when it's suppose to be $4.75 more or less. The lady gave me a dirty look and said she will take the extra off.
