A disappointing experience. A new AC unit was installed without issue. The next day a gas leak was discovered. A call to the company was made explaining the problem and our concern. We were told they would try and get a technician out as soon as possible but perhaps I should just call the fire department, maybe they could fix it. True story. I said I understand your workload is heavy, but you must understand this is a gas leak not a simple water filtration issue. My elderly parents (ages 83 and 85) were taken advantage of by Canyon State. Instead of recommending to repair their 6-year-old HVAC unit (which they sold them, and it was still under warranty and could have been fixed for about $3,300 per Canyon State), the company convinced them to purchase: * A brand new HVAC system for $13,000 * A UV air sanitizing unit for $3,420 * An "Advantage Plan" charging $250 per month for 10 years (about $30,000 total, 10 times the cost of the repair, an unconscionable contract given my parents' age and needs). When I raised concerns, the company's only response was: "We spoke to your father. He is happy." They know my father suffers from memory concerns and hearing issue, yet they relied on him instead of addressing our questions in writing when they knew I was now handling the matter. This type of sales practice is predatory toward seniors, a protected class, and vulnerable consumers. We are pursuing complaints with the Arizona Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, the Better Business Bureau, and the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. I strongly caution other families -- especially those with elderly parents -- to be very careful before doing business with this company. DON'T DON'T DON'T I called them July 6, 2024. My air conditioning was running but it wasn't strong enough to keep up with the outside heat. It seemed to be low on coolant. When I called, they said the service call was $100 and would be applied to the cost of repair if I had them service the unit. He didn't know I'm an electrical engineer and made some obviously false statements. For expample, he told me the winding were going bad in the capacitor. There are no windings in a capacitor. Finally he said he would put in 2 lbs of R410A refridgerant.. He put in 3 and charged me $570 with no deduction for the $100 service fee. Looking up cost of refridgerant on the internet, it is about $11/lb. Accoording to the internet, the cost was excessive. I called the office and I felt they were not honest with me either. read more

Canyon State to the rescue. My air conditioner died last Friday & I spent the weekend trying to figure how what to do & how much to spend. Something reasonably priced but also could be taken care of quickly. I combed the APS Qualified Contractors, reviewed them on Yelp, & checked for their ROC license. I came across Canyon State and could not be more impressed or happy with their service. I received a quote from James Dunkins but it wasn't just one! He took the time to give me four prices on one sheet and an extra price contained in the email. Canyon State uses Trane products & the quotes included "RunTru." I never heard of this but looked it up, read the reviews, & saw it too was a Trane product. The prices was definitely right but more importantly, to me, was the customer service. It didn't feel like it was a massive push or over eager sale. There wasn't an upscale but a genuine, "how can we help you?" The fact that they also had a portable A/C to help me survive until they could I stall also helped. James was patient & indulged all of my questions. He was thoughtful in his responses & the tone of his voice made me feel like a friend instead of some rando new potential customer. When he came on Sunday to set up the portable A/C & measure, I felt even more confident in the decision to go with Canyon State. The first year of service (2 checks) are included with a proposal for maintenance plan to be given at the second service. The warranty for the new install is reasonable as well. I really appreciate the upfront pricing & how it is a flat fee. No hidden surprises. No up sales. No pressure. I am extremely happy with Canyon State & this all started with James. The techs who installed the unit & set up the thermostat were professional, competent, & personable. Each person I spoke with made me more confident with the purchase. I don't feel like they're going to forget about me or that I was just another bottom line $$$. This is a small, family run business that has been around for over 30 years. When my AC quit blowing cool air they came out and said I had to refill all the coolant or 11 gallons at $100 some odd dollars per gallon. They they claim there was a leaky valve and that would have to be replaced and with Labor they were quoting $3,000 plus minimum because it was going to be "very labor intensive" is the expectation they made. Question for Canyon State Air? If all of what you claim needed to be fixed and 2 months ago all that checked out okay and the i hired a 2nd opinion to see if what I suspected was true or not and, that second opinion told there was no indication of any leaking, why wouldn't I think you were CROOKS?! This is, by far, the most professional company I have had the pleasure of doing business with. With the temps soaring well above 110 degrees my AC ended Its life. I called around and found Canyon State to be the only company who could help me on short notice. Ernie, the sales, service rep was promptly on the job. He helped me choose the best option for my needs, brought a portable unit out to keep me somewhat comfortable until the unit could be installed 2 days later. The install crew showed up as promised and went to work. In less than 5 hours I had a new AC and furnace. We have a home warranty company but because they couldn't get anyone to us right away they allowed us to call an "out of network" contractor. We chose Canyon State after the positive reviews. When I call I explained that we could pay up front costs and seek reimbursement from the warranty company later BUT the technician would need to speak with our warranty company to have the repairs authorized. They said "ok" The technician arrived and it was suddenly a different story. The technician was there to collect his service fee but refused to talk to the warranty company. The technician left us with a non working air conditioning and a 100 degree house because they refused to get authorization from our warranty company. So disappointed with Canyon State and clearly they don't care about ac repair at all...just collecting a service fee I would not recommend Canyon State to my worst enemy. BUYER BEWARE of CANYON STATE AIR CONDITIONING: Once they collect your money, they do not honor the type of business they do with integrity or the desire to make right on the systems they have sold you. Also, the office staff are less than professional, and instead of being helpful, and trying to make things right, they are very argumentative. They have the best "salesman" ever. They sell you the units, and the maintenance to keep your warranty, but do not want to help in any other way. Within the first month of installation of 2 AC/heaters, we had problems that were the direct result of their negligence. Since then, (2 years) we continue to have maintenance people come out and NOT do the maintenance, even though they write it down as completed, causing additional problems, such as NOT cleaning out the drip lines for the condensation. Not one person at this company has reached out and tried legitimately to make things right, or at least to try to send out people who appear trustworthy. We do not feel that this company is honest. I would NOT purchase any units from this company, as they do not want to make sure the units are cared for properly, and will not treat the customer right, but rather make any and all excuses as to why things have happened. (ie., "a rodent must have crawled into the pipe," among other comments) This whole experience with Canyon State Air Conditioning has been truly disheartening because it is our hard earned money given to a company who refuses to do right by us. read more

Friday morning, just about to finish my shower and I go to shut off the water and the handle comes off in my hand. The water is still on full blast and it's hot as hell. I've got no way to shut it down. The top of the stem is still in the handle. It twisted right off. I quickly dried off, through on some clothes, and headed out to the garage and shut off the hot water at the tank. Hot is off but still have a little cold running. Time to call a plumber. I ask Google for a plumber in the Sun City West area. I get a bunch. Call the first...they can't come today. Call the second...cant get there till Monday. Third was Canyon State...She told me they could have a plumber there in two hours. Great, I said. Send him over. He came on time, fixed the problem (it wasn't easy) in an hour and he was gone. The availability was great, he was very professional, (knew what he was doing), and the price was reasonable. I couldn't have asked for more. people, Whenever this Companies people come over to look at your ac system, and they tell you a part cost $300 to fix it and they have it on hand. Take 5 minutes and go to Amazon.com to make sure it cost $300. I had a technician come over and they told me that a part was bad on my AC unit and it cost $300. The guy went to his truck and pulled out the exact part that was needed to fix the issue and was waiting for me to say "install the part". I told him "thanks for the diagnosis but I would purchase the item and install it myself". I purchased the part from Amazon for $27 dollars and installed it and fixed my system. I know this is not for everyone and I'm sorry that I cannot work on everyone's problem. One of the best encounters I've ever had with a service organization. The office staff is very responsive passes on your messages takes appointments with great care. The salesman that came to visit and instructed me on the products that they had available for me and I was sold immediately. James was so gifted in his presentation to me and so down to earth that I felt very comfortable. He told me my options, recommended different avenues to go down, and made me feel very comfortable. I knew I was going to not let him leave the house till I had signed a paper because I really wanted to do business with he and his company. Axle, and Jesse took away my 17-year-old AC and brought me a beautiful new Trane. After the crane had come, picked up my old AC and replaced it so gingerly on the side of my house with my new AC, it was great to see how professional everyone was and extremely skilled. I had Dion Elvenia come out the next day to help me with a little touch up and he was amazing. He knew right what I was talking about. He went right to the source, took care of it with precision. Last Thursday at around 4:30pm when my wife got home she realized our upstairs AC wasn't blowing cold air. We discussed for a moment waiting till I got home to take a look at it (since I do many of our home repairs myself) but quickly concluded that we should get a technician out to our house ASAP or we'd likely need to wait till the next morning. My wife called Canyon State a few minutes after I got off of the phone with her (maybe 4:45pm) and was pleased to learn that a technician would be out to our house (we live in Surprise) between 5 and 7 pm. Astonishingly, the technician (Jake) knocked on the door shortly after 5pm! He quickly determined that the problem was with the outdoor unit corresponding with the upstairs AC (a motor had failed, and the unit was evidently SUPER hot) We approved the replacement for that motor, and by 6:10pm I was paying the bill for the completed repair (using a slick iPad app - which wasn't really a factor, but was cool to see how they were using modern technology to make transactions easier). We had a cool upstairs by bedtime, and I couldn't be happier with how everything went. After going over price, size, and when I could have a unit installed, I decided on Canyon State Air Conditioning. They show up on time and worked nonstop until it was finish. Called and they showed up when agreed on, that's when things got odd. The service guy said I was low on refrigerant and I said ok. I went out to check on him and he didn't have a scale?? I began recording him. I asked him how can you bill me for refrigerant if you don't know how much your putting in?? After some discussion he went and got a scale.... long story. The short version is that the company is just trying to take advantage of people when it's 109 degrees..... Consumers , I am a very positive person and will always give people and companies props if they are a good person or company. but, I would be very cautious if you thinking about using this company. I bought a new a/c unit from them in April 2016 and the unit costs in the neighborhood of 8000 plus .. My unit has been running hot this summer so I had a summer check done for 69 dollars from another a/c company. Canyon State serviced the unit the first two years and this year I used another ac company. This other company found the unit to be short 2 pounds of freon .That cost me 200 dollars. The tech told me it may be a possible coil leak ,( which is a major problem and costs a small fortune to fix). This should not happen after 4 years . I called Canyon State and told them the issue, and there response was we can send a tech over for 75 dollars to make a diagnosis.What they fail to tell you is its another couple hundred to find leak and then the labor runs over 1000!! All this $$ for a 4 year old unit.. They never mention or say thank you for your purchase lets get that diagnosed, or sorry for you inconvenience we will send a tech and see how we can help. Bottom line is once they have your money they forget customer service. I will be contacting Trane and filling them in on my issue and will never use this company again . I would definitely NOT recommend this company. Called to have my 3 units looked at and was having issues with one. Said he could only look at one unit and not repair it. Said he was slammed today. How would he know if it would be a quick repair or not? First of all, why would you not repair it ? Isn't that the point of calling a repair company? Called the office to explain that when I scheduled I asked all units to be checked out and rearranged my schedule for them to come out. Finally, she said that he could check all the units and insisted no repairs would be made. Again, why are they insistent on no repairs? That is the whole point. It is $75 for the service call but they plan to leave you hanging. When he checks the unit I was having problems with, he came in with a list of several things that were wrong with the unit which would cost $4500+ to repair but he wouldn't recommend the repairs because it's too old of a unit. Was told I need to get a new unit which they send a sales consultant to go through the various types $4K-$20K. I decided to do a little research and ask around for another company since obviously this wasn't going well. My son's friend's dad has an A/C company and he came over early today (Saturday morning), investigated the problem, went over with me the cost of replacement parts which were strictly a maintenance issue. It is a Trane unit which is one of the best so maintenance is all it needed. He went to pick up the parts since Saturday they are open until noon. Came back, replaced the parts, checked the freon and it didn't even need any and it instantly became cool. Parts are warrantied for 5 years so at that time, if they are problems, look at replacing it then. $1500 and I am set for 5 years! You have to give Arizona Acclimated Air Conditioning & Heating Services a call: 602-616-8044 They have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. I'm not surprised! Back to this terrible company. Every single thing he said was not working was FALSE. He also told me it needed 11 pounds of freon at $200+ per pound so $2200 in freon alone. There were no leaks as he claimed. If I had no freon and did not get freon today, why is my house so cold now? They push hard on new units so that's their scam. They don't want to repair anything for you. They want to rip you off! This company is a rip-off! The temperature is over 110, the tech arrives and says the four year old and still under warranty A/C compressor is bad. The Canyon State parts guy says he will not order the replacement part unless I agree to pay $1285 labor only fee. (Sounds a little like APS turning off power and the resulting fatality last year.) After the parts man delay and the part lost in transit for two days, the new compressor gets installed. After four days I get to move back into my house. The installation took 3 hours and cost $1285. That's around $428 per hour. I never realized HVAC techs made that sort of wage. Even though the HVAC system is still under warranty, I will never use Canyon State Air Conditioning again. read more

Your audit tech, Ken Kucera was nothing short of perfect in professionalism, knowledge, service and just being a great guy. My husband, Jack, is a retired electrical engineer, residential & commercial contractor and a Jack of all trades and he loves to test the knowledge of people in the service industries he understands. Many people don't make the grade, but Ken was able to describe, in technical detail, what the audit process was, why it was being done, what the equipment did and what the data meant. He answered all of our questions and easily chatted in tech talk with Jack. When the audit results were ready, Ken explained what he had found, what he suggested needed to be done and what additional things we may want to do in the future to make our home as efficient as possible. He did not push services or hard sell us, he simply offered information and willingness to be of service in any capacity Canyon State AC could provide. We scheduled Canyon State to come out to fix the ducting in the attic. Kyle Hicks & Albert Espinoza arrived on time, with all the parts, materials and tools necessary to complete the job and did so in the estimated time. They left the work site clean and removed all the old ducting. Using your partner company to blow in insulation was as painless as working directly with Canyon State. APS sent out an inspector to make sure all the work was completed properly. We got their thumbs up. A few months later (June 2015) we turned on our HVAC for the first time since Canyon State did an all points check up on our unit. We found that it was turning on and running but it was blowing out outside ambient temperature air. We called Canyon State and explained our issue. Because they had our warranty info on file, they noticed our warranty was due to expire in the following four days. Canyon sent out Gabe Maestas that day and he found a blown control board. He ordered it and it arrived in 2 days that same day Gabe was out to replace the board. While he was replacing it he found the start components also had blown, suggesting we had had a power surge between when they serviced it the first time and when we turned it on the in June. Gabe offered to install a surge protector, we said do it. Oh, and they didn't charge us for these last two service calls, just for the surge protector.
