I wasn't planning on reviews while on my vacation, but Hubs asked for this one. While there are several places in Cape May to get a Lobster Roll, we chose Cape May Fish Market because it had lots of seating indoors & out. It was quite chilly while we visited Cape May so we really wanted to sit inside. First, the positive: The place is clean and the staff is nice. The Lobster Roll is delicious and the Shrimp Cesar Salad tasted good, but this is also where it goes bad. It is a huge salad and only had 3 shrimp. The cost of the salad is the same as the Lobster Roll. There is no way a salad should cost 26.99 and only have 3 shrimp. A pound of shrimp market value is approximately $25.99 depending on size & location. When it was expressed to our server, she quoted market price increases and that we could order more shrimp at an upcharge. If market price for shrimp is that bad, take it off the menu or offer alternatives like adding chicken that won't result in an upcharge or advise your customers upon ordering that they'd only get 3 shrimp. Hubs probably would have ordered something else. It's Cape May Fish Market so they should be upfront about their seafood. I didn't really care for the fact that we asked about it and were brushed off. While we'll definitely return to Cape May, we may not return here. . read more

We stopped in this restaurant for some seafood while shopping in the Cape May Washington street mall Our server Edwin was amazing. Very attentive with an infectious smile. He took great care of us. This was actually my second time coming here and I just wasn't wowed by the food, unfortunately. It was all decent just not great and for how good it was I thought it was a bit overpriced. Looked at a few eateries on the path along the shop and picked CMFM. Hostess was polite, waitstaff was courteous, bus boys were busy making sure the tables stayed cleaned. We ate Al fresco and what a great weather for it. Inside the restaurant is cute as well and very clean. FYI they are BOYB but have bottles of their alcohol for purchase. Got the Surf & Turf ravioli, and it was absolutely terrific! Our server was hilarious and genuinely seemed to love what she does, which made the experience even better. Have been here multiple times and had great experiences every time. Good service, and options for seating inside or out. Gets super busy during the summer, but no problems getting a table in the off season. They don't make it super clear, but they do have gluten free buns so the ability to get a lobster roll is lovely. Servers here are pretty knowledgeable about cross contamination, but if that's a concern for you be sure to ask. The outside space is definitely accessible to those using mobility equipment, and while technically there are no stairs to enter inside, the space is pretty tight. read more

The fish market was a pleasant surprise, from the food to their service, it was a great experience. We went there on a Saturday night around 7pm and we were seated right away, they do have indoor and patio seating. We ordered the coconut shrimp and mini crab cakes from the appetizers and the lobster roll and seafood pasta, all the food was very tasty, the mini crab cakes were the highlight. We didn't really get to see the inside since we chose to sit on the patio but it does have a nice ambiance to sit on the patio and watch people passing by! I'll start with a positive. The waitress was sweet and attentive. My daughter and I ordered the fried calamari. This was a total disgrace for $19.00. There was literally a handful and tiny scraps. It looked as if the bottom of the bag was emptied into the fryer. When I brought it up to the manager there was no apology or offer to redo the order. I was just asked if I'd like anything else. I've had two bad experiences in a row. Last time the service was horrific. With our specials we were each supposed to have a salad and bread with it. Half way into the meal we realize it never came, so we asked the server. She replied "Oh you want them?" Then she almost never came back; no refills and we walked out way after they closed because she took 40 minutes to come back for the check. Tonight we walked in to be seated at 8:08 and are told they closed "10 minutes ago." I check online and say Google shows 9pm, is that wrong? The employee says no it's 9pm but they close early if it's not busy. Meanwhile there are 4 tables I can see with customers. She then suggested Fin because it's the same owner. I wonder if I could have substituted for actual fries. But, the fish soft taco wrap was truly so delicious. Took the family out for a nice seafood dinner after a day of dancing in wildwood. Ended up here after an online search option didn't pan out for us. Great attentive and friendly staff sat us immediately in a crowded restaurant. Delicious clam appetizer and chowder were brought out almost immediately. Came here for dinner the other night and it didn't disappoint. The menu had a nice amount of things to choose from. I had the lobster roll which came with coleslaw and fries and my husband had the crab cake grilled cheese. The lobster was fresh and wasn't chewy. One of the best lobster rolls I ever had.
