This review is for Keaton Van Nada, who I have followed to Capelli after having found her at another salon about 7 years ago when I first moved here to California and lived down in Almaden. I now live in Menlo Park and make the 30 minute drive to Los Gatos every couple of months simply because she's worth it. She's done cuts and colors (highlights, low lights and corrections) on me and my teenage daughter for years now and we both couldn't be more pleased with tremendous talent. What's more, she's sweet, professional and a genuinely good and caring person who everyone seems to like. And it's the person and their individual skills and personality you go to a salon for after all, right? But this is salon is the best one she's been at in my experience. The reception people are helpful and pleasant. They confirm appointments, offer you something to drink (even wine) upon arrival and everyone seems to enjoy working here. Their clients all seem happy too. That says something. I've been to places before where the vibe is either bitchy or stuffy and there's none of that here thank goodness. One thing I especially like, they have free Wifi so I can work while I'm there under the dryer (like I am now.) Parking can be a pain in the butt here, but it is almost anywhere in Los Gatos. I know that Keaton has a following for her extensions and for her wedding/special occasion/prom up-dos and so when I recently planned my wedding I asked her if she'd be willing to come up with something for me. I was hesitant to ask at first because she's in Los Gatos and I was getting married in Sausalito and it wasn't going to be a big job because it was only me and no gaggle of bridesmaids to primp. DId she hesitate? No. Did she charge me an arm and a leg? No. Did she work with me to figure out what I wanted and try out different styles? YES! Did she do a fabulous job? YES! Did she even help my stressed out sister with her hair after she finished mine? YES! I love what Keaton does to my hair on a regular basis, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results on this very important day. My hair looked great from 10 am in the morning to 6 pm at night. After a wedding on a boat in the windy, foggy, beautiful San Francisco Bay. And after a reception on the same boat where I literally danced my bustle off! Keaton's the best and I wouldn't hesitant to send anyone to her for just a cut or a color or for a day where you want to look amazingly beautiful. read more

I have been going to Capelli Salon for several years now (specifically, to Keaton Van Nada & Megan Franza alternately...I'm one of those people that always waits until the last minute, so I go to whichever one can fit me in), and am always extremely pleased with my hair afterwards! Megan also has the added bonus of being a fantastic make up artist, too! Although her personal style is very natural, she is capable of fulfilling whatever "look" you are wanting to accomplish! They are both so talented that I hired them to do the hair & make up for myself, my bridesmaids (I had 8!), mothers of my husband & I and both of our flower girls. Obviously, this was a very special day, so it was important to me to not only have talented hair & make up artist(s), but also people that would be fun & easy going throughout this exciting (& at times, stressful) day. They were both very professional and contributed to the fun dynamic that day, but the results they produced were amazing!!! They successfully "beautified" 11 women (9 up-dos) and 2 little girls in the time specified ahead of time, which I really appreciated because we were on such a strict schedule. All the girls loved their look (which is saying a lot because there were a few very critical ones in the mix! Haha), and their hair & make up stayed perfect throughout all the festivities of the night! Keaton & Megan are both very talented when it comes to cuts &/or colors, and I would highly recommend them both (my mom even goes to them now when she comes to visit from Arkansas) to anyone looking for a great stylist! read more

Brianne still does a great job with haircuts and styling. She's always very nice, professional, never makes me wait, does all the work herself, and she's reasonably priced. Doesn't overcharge. She did my first Brazilian Blow last month and I love it! It's the best thing I've done with my hair in ages. Finding a parking spot can sometimes be challenging, being that it's located in downtown Los Gatos. If you can, try to make your appointments during the week and you can save yourself from a little hassle. read more

I highly recommend Stacey Brenner! I have been going to her for years now and she never ever fails me and is honest about everything and will never try to rip you off or give you a ugly cut or color. I always leave her feeling amazing. She has tons of knowledge about hair. My hair is not the easiest to manage or even cut since I have wavey/frizzy and unruly hair. I have gone to her over the years for the chi straightening which honestly was life changing and many times for highlight or color. I have gone through many hair phases in my life including: "The Moe Cut" (yes, that would be Moe from the Three Stooges... my mom told the hairdresser "Dorothy Hamill" of Ice Capades Fame, why I don't know, but it came out as "The Moe" instead), "Pyramid Head" (pretty self explanatory), "Bangs that Start at the Crown of my Head Rather than the Top of my Forehead", and last, but not least, "Butt-Ass Ugly Orange Highlights". I wanted red highlights, but the hairdresser convinced me that the natural bleachy color that appeared was "even better" and wouldn't put the red in. Clearly, she was just lazy. That this hairdresser (and perpetrator of all of the above haircuts) should be my cousin makes everything TEN TIMES WORSE. Never do business with family, folks. So when I walked into Capelli's for the first time, and my mom's hair stylist Chrissi said she could make the hideousness disappear, I took a chance. Because of my past experience, I was a bit wary of having people do my hair, but Chrissi changed my attitude THAT DAY. Chrissi knows hair. Better yet, she knows how to cut my hair in such a way that I'm not transformed back into Pyramid Head. She knows what will work for me and what won't, and humours my wishy-washy "should i *gasp* cut it one inch shorter???" whims. It's always great to know that your hair stylist is constantly taking classes and expanding their hair knowledge. Now, I get tons of compliments on my hair, and I feel great. Oh my gosh! First turn off: When I went in they were selling L'oreal! I kid you not!! What reputable salon sells L'oreal??? I thought I was in Downtown Los Gatos not super cuts. Do not ask the receptionist ANYTHING!!! There is either a total mis-flow of communication between the receptionist and reality of the prices or the receptionist gave me a low quote just to get me in the chair! If you have questions on pricing go and get a consultation from one of the stylists do not trust anything the receptionist tells you!! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Capelli Salon. I love love love love love Chrissi. It's like I was meant to meet her and have her as my stylist! She is a hair genius and so very sweet, nice, funny and personable. She is completely honestly and genuinely wants to know where you're coming from and what you want for a haircut. She totally listened to all my needs, frustrations and even fears when it came to my long thick boring straight hair. So she gave a really cool short (bot not too short!) cut with a slight side part and lots of funky cool layers. She was able to thin out my hair in a way to make it feel so much lighter (which has NEVER happened before) and I love it!! Thank you Chrissi!! You are amazing!! Thank you Capelli Salon! The big high school reunion was coming up and though I am not much of a girly-girl I decided to get my hair cut and see if someone could help undo the stripey do-it-yourself highlights I'd created (I blame the vicodin). I scheduled an appointment with Jessica and feel positively smug about that decision now. We must have talked about what I wanted for 10 minutes before I was comfortable with the plan. She listened super well, showed me sample colors, and was amazingly patient as I changed my mind repeatedly. She re-highlighted me and then added a bit of shiny low-light color for dimension and I absolutely love it, as do my friends and the spousal unit. One reason I'd switched from my old stylist is that she basically ignored me, talking with her friends and family in another language the whole time I sat in the chair (no I am not racist, but the other language thing denied me even the small pleasure that somes with listening in on a conversation!). Apparently she was unclear on the concept that a high-end haircut is a pampering experience. Jessica, on the other hand, completely got that, and I swear I purrrred while she massaged my scalp. Jessica gets a bonus point for being smart. I've had hairstylists who were not exactly rocket scientists (which would kind of be a waste, if you think about it) but Jessica is savvy and quick, a pleasure to talk with. There really is nothing like walking out of a salon feeling beautiful, and I did, for the first time ever. read more

I know what you are thinking, and the answer is yes--I am going to subject you to another review of a hair salon. You've been through my trials and tribulations of 5 Color Cowboy (OK, trial and tribulation--I only went there once), spared you JoJo's Salon, declared my love for Gina (still love her, but moved on), praised Lori, and now you have to read about Samantha. Samantha and I connected through friends who always have great hair, something I recently have displayed an interest in (I've been busy, apathetic, and lazy). So, when I saw an advertisement on her facebook for a Brazilian Blowout for a great price compared to other salons I checked, and verified that it had nothing to do with my genitalia, I hopped right on. Assuming you are all avid readers of my reviews, outdated they may be, I won't go into how much I actually dislike getting my 'hair did.' I never know what I want, I never have the nerve to tell them to stop if I think they are cutting or dying too much (aren't they the experts?), and I overall don't know how to style my hair. I'm a sad case, truly, for a girl. So, the thought of having treatment done that would minimize hair drying time and ease my frizziness was instantly appealing, as was the delicious price that I won't mention because I think it's tacky to do so--just trust me on it. Anyhoo, Samantha was great and colored my hair perfectly for the season and to my specifications. She did everything herself--cut, color, and treatment. Even the shampooing! She never left me in the hands of an assistant, which I don't mind but appreciate it not being the case here. It's been 5 weeks since my treatment, and my hair still looks great. I'm actually inspired to give a damn about it and learn how to style it! I don't think I will keep up with the treatments religiously, but I certainly will have it done before I go to a humid climate. While the price was great for three services(cut, color, blow out), it is a bit out of the range for a student's budget. I will definitely book with Samantha again, though, and suggest you do the same. Other info: parking was easy, but I had to move after being there for 2 hours. Ok, first off, I know I'm a guy and my review of a Salon can only be taken with a grain of salt, but let me put it to you this way. My GF is CRAZY PICKY about her hair. I mean CRAZY. To the point that I try not to be home the day she gets her hair done, just incase something doesn't go her way.....cause all hell breaks loose. BUT, with Samantha at Capelli taking care of her, I never have anything to worry about anymore because I have never seen her this happy with her Salon visits!!! From the way she talks about her visit, you would have thought her and Samantha were best friends!? And she is always very happy and excited to have her hair done at Capelli. Cassidy has been doing my hair for a little over a year and she is AMAZING. I've jumped from stylist to stylist all around the sf bay area and honestly knew that Cassidy was the one after my very first appointment! She now sees me, my sister, my mom, and several of my friends who have all had great experiences and even better hair! Cassidy really listens to what you envision for your hair so don't be shy with pictures or explaining what you want (and she asks you to physically show her how much hair you want cut off so you don't end up disappointed or basically bald). She's so understanding and a goddess with color! She puts a lot of thought and care into styling and color and it really shows in all her clients. Her talent makes her the person to go to no matter what your hair type is but I would seriously recommend her for color if you've been thinking about it! My hair is really curly and more on the dry side so my dreams of growing it out seemed impossible until meeting Cassidy! She's kept it looking so incredible and healthy that it's grown more in the past 6 months than it ever has in the past! This review is for Long Hong. Walking into this place, I honestly didn't expect much. I've been to salons in New York, Las Vegas, and San Francisco and have yet to leave any of them impressed. Every time I've walked in, I have always asked the same thing: "What can you do with my hair?" Having notoriously straight and unmanageable Asian hair, responses have been universally the same: "Well, what do you want to do with it..." Now, this is the dilemma. Male Asian hair can be cut in about 5 ways: the comb down, the faux hawk, the side part, the flat top, or the mess. The tough part is, of course, making these cuts look professional, not like your traditional $7.00 Asian chop shop fade. No matter how much I pay, nobody seems to get it right. This is where Mr. Hong actually surprised me. First of all, there were no clippers in site. In my head, I was thinking that I was just about to be bamboozled for $50. I went through the motions and asked him what he could do to my hair. He proceeded to offer a few suggestions, all of which were sound. At this point, I was gaining a little confidence. Being adventurous, I told him to do what he thought was best. He started to describe the Faux Hawk and, seeing how I've had some sort of Faux Hawk Comb Down Mess over the course of the past 12 years of my life, I gave him the go ahead. I mean, if he messed this up, I would definitely know. What happened over the next 30 minutes was nothing short of amazing. He proceeded to give me a fade with Scissors. With Scissors! Who does that? Since I gave him the go ahead, I decided to ride it out and see what this wizard could do. A little cut here, a little cut there, and BAM! I looked in the mirror and saw the best fade and Faux Hawk I've ever had in my entire life (trust me, I've had a lot of fades). Now, I'm not a big fan of Faux Hawks. They seem to scream douche bag every time I see one. This, however, was different. I was thoroughly impressed. It's been a long time since I've had the mop chopped and been satisfied. The last time I was really happy with was when I shaved my head during my sophomore year of high school. This was and is by far the best haircut I've ever had. In any case, if you're looking for a good stylist, look no further. Long is the real deal. read more

Not only that, but I actually wake up in the morning with it looking good. A brush, a little time with my flat iron, I'm good to go which is fabulous because I hate messing with my hair. I've never had a better salon experience than I did at Capelli. My cousin recommended that I meet with Brianne, and the woman worked miracles with my endlessly frizzy, split-ended, gray highlighted hair. (Gray underhighlights, I should say). In any case, she did a brief consultation which helped determine the style, shampooed my hair, and even incorporated some scalp massage into the wash. She cut a bit of my hair while wet, but blow-dried it as well, just to make sure about the length. She then did more cutting to ensure that my hair would look good regardless. All of this in under an hour, and I was one thrilled customer. The compliments haven't stopped. Thank you, Brianne, and thank you Cappelli--the service has been incredible. read more

I had my very first visit to the salon on Saturday. I am SOOO happy that I took a chance, it was amazing. Cassidy is wonderful, she talked with me for over 10 minutes about what I wanted in my color change and if she thought it was good for my skin tone. She asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page. I went from a light brown/blonde ombre that I had grown tired of to a beautiful warm brunette with red in it--perfect for fall. Absolutely in love with my hair!! Cassidy is so nice, friendly, and her love of styling hair shines through. She doesn't waste any time trying to sell you on product, she is funny, nice, and she was just as excited about the color change as I was. Went to visit Eric for the first time the other day and left feeling great. A little color, a little cut, a little neck massage a lot of chat...all very relaxing! Love the way he asked me questions about how often I do maintenance, my daily routine and provided me with great tips on dealing with my curly mane...even talked me out of the pricey japanese thermal straightening. I went in a hairy tense mess and left perfectly coiffed AND relaxed...you can't beat that! read more

With the plethora of salons in Los Gatos, how could you not try Capelli at least once? I tried it, and I wanted to like it, but I did not have a stellar experience here; in fact, it was rather subpar, and I will take my business elsewhere. When you show up early and have to keep waiting for your appointment, that's not acceptable. And the stylist did not listen when I asked her specifically not to use a darker hair color. Furthermore -- strike three -- while I was waiting for the color to set, it took way too long -- over 30 minutes -- and the stylist was taking too long with someone in the meantime. My husband actually called me to find out what was taking so long. Although the stylist apologized for the multiple delays, that's not enough to keep me as a new and returning client. Out of the salons I have tried, I would either stick to Krush or the salon inside the Los Gatos Spa, which is small but cares to keep your business instead of herding through a haircut assembly line. I'm sure many ladies have had great times at Capelli and gotten excellent results, but that wasn't my experience at all. And since this is MY review, I'm not recommending it. read more

I wasnt 100% happy because the stylists were never consistent with their work and i want to be treated like a new customer every time i get my hair done. Luckily I was introduced to Brian at Capelli salon by a coworker and have been going religiously for months! Here are a few reasons why you should go with the Capelli team 1. So Samantha--my hairdresser for several years now--was at another salon, but I am so glad to know she is back at Capelli. Here I am 2 years after my last review and am still in love with the haircuts she does for me. Last year I had her cut off almost all my hair (to donate to locks of love) and she did a fantastic job making a short cut on me that i was happy about (i should preface this with I haven't had short hair since I was 5 years old and was scared out of my mind for this appointment). I haven't been to the salon since the fire and remodel but i hear it looks great. The Staff is great and fun to listen/talk to when u are there. The front desk staff sometimes needs an attitude check, but thats usually how it goes with front desk. Samantha did my hair for year and she was great. She listened to exactly what i wanted and i always got compliments when she did my hair. I ended up referring more than a few new clients to her and she showed her appreciation generously! She is a young stylist who understands fashion and is extremely talented. Sam is patient and attentive and was always happy to style and mess with my hair however i wanted it after she was finished cutting. read more

This review is for Jessica Bruno. I am so ecstatic over my experience don't even know where to begin! I was trying to cram a ton of things into my overbooked schedule. I needed to look very nice for an event, and my hair was an absolute frizzy mess. It is waist-length and normally takes about an hour and a half to two hours to blow dry my frizzy locks somewhat sleek. Jessica was able to accommodate me the same day! She gave me a Brazilian Blowout, and boy it is the greatest thing since post-its! I can blow dry my hair in less than 10 minutes, and it looks beautifully glossy and wavy. If I want a sleeker look, an additional 10 minutes with a brush and flatiron does the trick!!! Although my hair is thin, it does not look limp for flat at all! read more

This review is for Jessica Bruno, I made an appt to see her for a Brazilian Blowout. The appt was not hard to schedule, she was very flexible. I have long thick curly frizzy hair so I knew this appt would take awhile. Jessica was super friendly and professional! The appt took about 2.5 hours and she was so gentle I was almost falling asleep in the chair! She took her time to apply the Brazilian solution and i'm happy with the outcome!! Jessica was awesome & I'd definitely go back to see her again ;) Parking is a bit difficult as this area of Los Gatos is usually pretty busy. You might want to give yourself a head start to make sure you have time to find parking. Oh, and they offer refreshments including wine too :) read more
