So I really really really dislike taking my car in for service; I like to think I'm reasonably intelligent, I just don't know much about car maintenance and have been taken advantage of in the past. Capitol Auto Service is phenomenal, though, and I've never been condescended to nor overcharged for things. Waaaaay back when we first moved here, we came here for our first safety check as part of licensing the vehicle we shipped. They explained the process to us and were just so welcoming. Since then we have had miscellaneous service done here on Hondas and a Toyota, but we've seen all makes and models in here. We usually get far better prices and service than at the dealership service departments. Most recently we had A/C service done and it now cools better than it ever did new! The place is spotlessly clean, easy to get to from anywhere in Central O'ahu, and has a nice waiting room if you are staying while your car is worked on. As good as it gets, I think. read more

On a recent Thursday afternoon, my Volvo came to a stop while driving and had no power. I had AAA tow the car to Capitol Auto. On Friday morning, I got a call from Capitol Auto and they had diagnosed the problem as a broken fuel pump. They gave me an estimate but told me the part had to be ordered from the mainland. I gave them the OK to proceed and was fully expecting to be without the car for the next several days. However, to my surprise, I got a call from them on Monday morning saying the car was fixed and ready to be picked up!!! When I asked how they got the part so quickly, I was told that the owner of Capitol Auto happened to be on the mainland and brought the part back himself on his flight back to HI. This level of service and communication between owner/employees to make all of this happen are extraordinary. Well done, Capitol Auto!!! read more

The staff seemed very efficient and professional The place had a cool airconditioned waiting room with complimentary coffee and water and a spotless bathroom .. We only came here for an oil change but its evident that this shop knows what they're doing..it is probably the cleanest most organized shop I have ever seen and I have seen alot. I wouldn't say that we've abused our main vehicle, but we haven't always been as attentive to the needs of a 10 year old reliable car as we should have been. Now here we are with 150,000 miles shared with our lovely blue Mazda,and the undeniable need to decide- do we start looking for what comes next, or do we put a large investment into what we already have? I'm so happy to have found a thorough and affordable general mechanic who made that decision so much easier for us! The car started to get a bit quirky a few years ago. The headlight dusk sensors didn't always work, the engine got louder, and the AC stopped blowing the frigid air we were accustomed to feeling. Then the parking sensor stopped noticing when we were in park, which meant the occasional dead battery when someone didn't notice the car had remained in auxiliary mode. Nothing awful, just unique signs of aging. After a few searches online and a thorough questioning of my coworkers, I called Capitol Auto Supply. I told them that I wasn't sure what might be wrong, but I was interested in a full tune up and to know what they noticed as they went. I know I mentioned the AC and the loud engine, and then reminded myself that anything they said would be less money spent than replacing the car. My fears were for nothing, and the price I paid for a tune up, new battery, and to replace the parking sensor was half of what I'd expected to spend. It turns out that almost everything we were experiencing was the result of the severely corroded original battery! The review would have been a five star, even without the excellent customer service, but I need to mention it anyway. This is a busy shop, but they bring in as many cars as they can every single day. When I called the day after my service to let them know that the check engine light was still showing they apologized, made space for me the following day, and had it fixed within just a few minutes. I really appreciated the quick response and the apology for any anxiety it might have caused. All is well now, and we have put aside all thoughts of trading this car in for something else. Between a reliable vehicle and a dependable mechanic I think we will be driving our Mazda for years to come. read more

Went to the intake table, completed the intake form while the guy looked over my documents. After he approved everything, I gave him my keys. He said it wouldn't be long so he offered the waiting lounge. I was in there for 5-10 mins, and done! He came and gave me some suggestions/info on the status of my car then rang me up. Called on Tuesday and they were able to get me an appointment for 10 am next day. My car was making a loud high pitch noise with the brakes. Got the brake pads and rotors replaced. Damian kept me in touch with an estimate and work that needed to be done, and I loved that I didn't feel pressured to make a decision (bad experience I've had at other places). Damian was awesome with giving me the time range of 4:30 pm to be done (and he was right on the dot!). I really appreciated the customer service by everyone there, super friendly and helpful as to where to go to pay when I arrived to pick up my car. I called and was able to get an appointment the next day. Capitiol Auto is located in Waipio near Costco. When I got there I was greeted by Philip. Did insurance work with Capitol Auto in the past. Wife made appointment for rack and pinion replacement. Went to pick up car, could not find removed rack and pinion for core charge. power steering oil level was low, power steering oil all over the under carriage and on exhaust pipes and cat converter. Interior of car smelt like power steering oil. floor mat was covered in black oil. Great looking shop ! Bad leadership ! Bad work ethics with Techs ! These guys are super thorough. Prices are very reasonable. My wife took the car in for an alignment. Upon inspection, they found that the tires needed to be changed first. Tires were replaced a few days later and the car went back in to their shop immediately after the installation. The alignment took about 30 minutes and the results showed some pretty staggering results of misalignment. Car runs better and you can really feel the difference not just with new tires but the overall ride. read more

Bought the groupon for wheel alignment and a safety check for $49. made and appointment for 11:00, van went on the rack immediately, went to the waiting room, made a coffee, before it got cold they came in and told me that m tie rod end was word and my boot was torn. Reschedule another appointment 2 days later to have this repaired, Add another $179.59 to my bill... Came in, van went up on the rack, repairs done, alignment and safety check done and out in 1:15. Great service, clean work area visible from the clean waiting room! The waiting room also has a TV, bottled water and a laptop with free wifi :) read more

My Ford Expedition had a creaking/squeaking noise and I spent over $2000 at another shop trying to fix it. I brought it in to Capitol Auto Service for their free evaluation. Turns out it was my ball joints that needed to be replaced *sigh* Phil was great and let me know it would cost around $900 to do the job, but my bf and I decided my poor SUV wasnt worth the money we were pouring in. We declined the service and Phil didnt try to push it on us or anything. We were so impressed with their knowledge and customer service that we bought the groupon to use on my bf's car. We made an appointment for alignment only today at 9:30am and they were done at 10:09am. Super quick and pain free. We definitely recommend this shop and I wish we came here sooner. It was my first time coming here for an oil change. I had an 11:00 appointment but didn't get there until 11:05. I told Kawika who checked me in that I was sorry for being late cause I got lost trying to find this place. He kindly said, "don't worry about it, it happens." My car got serviced at 11:15 and by 11:45 it was done. The shop is kept clean. Service was quick and workers are friendly. There is a waiting area where you can watch TV. Also, there's coffee and cold bottled water for FREE. The waiting area has glass windows so you can watch your car being serviced. The shop is across the street from 711 and nextdoor to Flagship Express Car wash. When you get to the shop, there's a sign that says, For service pull in. You will need to drive your vehicle in and check in at the counter. I think I've found a new place to get my oil changed :) read more

Scheduled an appointment with Groupon for alignment and safety check. Upon arrival, they were able to take my car right away. I asked if they could add an oil change and they were able to accommodate. Walked to Starbucks to grab snacks, they called within 45 minutes just as they said. Returned to the shop so they can do the Safety check which took about 5 minutes. When I got home, I was looking over the paperwork and realized that they put the wrong information (type of car, VIN, color) on the Safety check so I had to go back and get a new sticker. Guy apologized and gave me a new sticker within 2 minutes and again on my merry way home I go. lesson: Don't forget to check the paperwork before you leave! I also wish I asked what the numbers on the alignment meant and what was done to the car.. next time! Still would recommend check them out. read more

I was quite impressed with how these guys do business and how they treat their customers. They did three things that will have me coming back for next time. (I went to get a part on my car replaced) First, when I called them during the week they made time for me to come stop by immediately. Some places are busy, but some places only go by scheduling. Next they greeted me right away, checked my AC free of charge, and ordered the part I needed all with 15 minutes. While in the waiting room I was offered a complimentary water bottle or coffee. They even had a computer if we needed to use it. Lastly, when the part came in I stopped by without making an appointment and they installed it immediately, free of charge. I called around shops to fix my A/C. I was informed by another shop that I needed my evaporator replaced. I talked to Kawika and he gave me a quote. The quote was not the lowest I got but the reviews I read here on Yelp were good. First, Kawika was very professional with calling me back with his quote. Second, Kawika did not ask me to put money down in advance to purchase the part while all the other shops asked for money down even the dealer where I purchased my car. Third, when my part arrived, Damian informed me that he just needed one day to get the job done while the other shops told me they needed 2-3 days. I had a "Check Air Suspension" light on. I can tell one of my rear air suspension bags were leaking (cause I don't have front air suspension lol). Anyway it was exactly that, so I replaced them both.
