AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I took my Outback in for a 150k mile service and they recommended I have additional work done, which I agree to. A couple of days later, my car breaks down in Santa Cruz and does not run at all. After shelling out $8K for the recent work, it will cost an additional $4K just to take the engine apart and see what's wrong. My car was running fine before I even took it in and I regret ever doing so. Also, they charge a 3 percent fee if you use a credit card to pay for your service. And the cost is high, so unless you have an extra $8K laying around, you're going to pay more. Will take my Subaru elsewhere for service going forward. read more

I would like to recognize the outstanding service I received from Andy Ho in the service department. I just picked up my 2022 Subaru Outback, which had gone in for a simple software update and the team found an issue, which was under warranty, for a minor leak in the engine. Andy was a joy to meet with from the minute I walked in on Monday. He greeted me with a huge smile and explained everything thoroughly to both me and to my husband regarding the leak the technicians found and that the car would need to be kept several more days than originally expected. Andy kept us updated with daily text messages, sometimes a few a day, all very thorough. Just picked up my car and Andy went through another thorough summary of what was completed and it just further exemplified how great this Subaru service department is. My 2020 Subaru Legacy was due for the 44K service. I always take it in to Capitol Subaru, the DGDG dealership where I purchased this beauty. I called the dealership and scheduled my appointment with Matthew. I received email confirmation of date and time immediately. I arrived right on time, got to say hi to Service Manager, Miguel and then checked in with Matt who came out to the car and we reviewed what items are included for this particular service. He and I also discussed and tested my Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth settings where I was having some operational problems. He also said they would check to see if there was a CarPlay update available and there was. He said he would call when the car was ready. I needed a ride back and Matt graciously arranged a Lyft to take me home. Early afternoon Matt called and my wife took me to pick up my car. Matt and I reviewed the completed work. We have been coming here for a couple of years now. The recent visit was a bit different experience. We took our Subaru Forester car in for basic oil changed and asked for the most basic oil changed. We ended up paying over $330. The service advisor sold us a package that included wheel alignment and others services. We just had our wheel alignment back in October 2021 and we drive under normal road conditions. We called back the same dealer service center afterward and spoke to a staff on the phone and were informed that wheel alignment usually recommended for when replacing new tires or if we noticed our car veers off to one side. When we called we also asked how much is a basic oil change. The staff on the phone told us is $96 and can offer $10 off coupon. This was not offered to us when we brought the car in and asked for just basic oil change. We are very disappointed and shocked that we were offered such an overpriced and unnecessary service. Their web site also doesn't list service prices when you schedule an appt. We called back and talked to Tony the service manager and he was willing to refund $170 wheel alignment and tire rotation charges back to our credit card. It was a bit better at the end. read more

worst dealership ever! my sister went in for an oil change service today amd they wripped her off $870 later! mp vision glass treatmemt god knows if she will see that for $31.90 hybrid wiper blades on a 2015 subarau $30 bucks a pop! premium motor oil conditioner and the dealership replaced the engine not that long ago and it needs oil conditioner. she was a female and they took advantage of her and also the end of the month they wanted to reach there personal gp's for the month. so lets wrip her off!!! very embarrassing of a dealership to do that. and they camt even diagnos of the car needs a turbo from the last service to now being and exhaust manifold leak! oh since they replace the engine you would think they would replace the gaskets as common sense but surely they re-used the old gaskets to charge over and over again for things that should have been done per manufacture operating procedures and service guides!!! which cleary they do not!!! be aware very aware of there sneaky ways and games!!! read more

No "service" from service department Don't get me wrong their sales department is amazing, however since the change in service managers their service department has apparently removed service from their job description. On my last visit I reminded them that their service department manager Miguel said that they could still manage to shuttle me to the nearest theatre. The tech that I spoke to said "that was our old policy and that Miguel is no longer here so they might not be able to do that. They did manage to give me a lift to the theater, so that was good. However when they contacted me they asked if they wanted to change out the cabin air filter, to which I agreed, thinking it would only be a small impact on the overall tune up and oil change I was getting. That cabin air filter change ended up doubling the price of the oil change to nearly $200. In addition they no longer do the video of the car before and after as they used to(even though it is on the form they hand you back), and unless you repeatedly remind them to wash the vehicle it sometimes doesn't get done. The worst part of my experience is the fact that I have reached out several times to the service department to try and express my displeasure and I have received no response whatsoever. I waited for a few months before expressing how bad the service has become. I hope someone from DGDG reads this and fixes the situation, in the meantime, this is a great place to go for sales, but if you can go somewhere else for service. That way you will get the service you pay for, and hopefully no 5 minute jobs that they charge an extra $100 for read more

I'm a pretty new Subaru owner and recently took my Outback in for its first service since I purchased it used. I used to own a Toyota and would take it down the street to a different dealership. To my relief, the experience at Capitol Subaru was miles better and less stressful than what I have learned to expect. The drop-off experience was great--I arrived at the appointment time on a Saturday morning and handed my keys off immediately. I am accustomed to waiting up to an hour just to drop my car off at the other place on a Saturday, hanging out in a line of cars that extends well into the street! The service was completed in a few hours. An inspection was included, and I received a short video of the inspection by text. They didn't try to upsell me on anything unnecessary and they actually fixed the problems I requested they fix. The staff, particularly Tyler, were friendly and attentive. Horrible Service! The service advisors and technicians lack knowledge! Poorly Run by management. If you value your time, money, and sanity; stay away from this Subaru service department. This review is from my mother's experience over the last 4-months. She had been dealing with one particular service advisor (doesn't follow through; will not return phone calls; states car parts have been ordered but months later they still have not arrived). It took several technicians to diagnose an issue my mother was having with her Forester. They finally diagnosed it however with their lack of communication, did not order the necessary parts for several months. So during this time, my mother's car alarm would go off because she had to manually unlock her car door. This has been stressful and highly inconvenient for her. She had to make several dozen phone calls (not exaggerating) to this service department just to get them to order the necessary parts needed. She even reached out to the Service Manager however he conveniently was always in meetings and it took several weeks for him to return her calls. She emailed him and finally he responded however he was also incompetent and was unable to follow through with getting her vehicle fixed. She took it in today for the final time so it could be repaired however her regular advisor was no where to be found and she got stuck with someone even lamer. She let the new lame advisor know what was needed and also asked about a few other items that needed to get fixed (due to their technicians mediocrity from a previous visit). Upon picking up her vehicle, the additional items were not fixed and this just goes to show that none of these people know how to listen nor do they know how to communicate. Obvious to say, she will NEVER return to this service department and if you are smart, neither will you. read more

As with most dealership service centers, an appointment doesn't mean much to them. You set a time to drop off the vehicle, they put it somewhere on the lot, and maybe in 4 hours they would get started. Sometimes not even til the next day. Our 2019 Ascent has been in here at least 4 times for recalls, plus a (warranty replace) transmission that failed at 30k miles. Last time we brought in for service, they forgot to do the recall which was the purpose of the drop off in the first place! (DMV kommies now require recalls completed prior to issuing new, exorbitant registration stickers getting snail mailed). So unfortunately getting very acquainted with the slow service here, lack of dependable turnaround times, and general poor customer service. And as much as we liked the price-performance of our first Subaru, the constant recalls, failed transmission, and service challenges have us reconsidering any future Subaru purchases. Never had these issues with Nissan, Honda, Toyotas. Nissans are now coming with AWD...Maybe walk over and take a test drive while I wait (again). read more

Alignment is only adjusting things no parts is needed to replace. It was so disappointed. When purchasing my Subaru vehicle in 2022 I bought the maintenance package. I bought maintenance with my previous vehicle too. The service is excellent, and recently I got a Lyft ride because the work would take most of the day. Whoever waits on me is always polite and explains anything that is amiss with my vehicle. I never feel stressed here. Another perk, Subaru generally washes my vehicle before returning to me. The waiting room is nice. The bathrooms are clean. There is internet, reading material, TV, and popcorn to snack on while waiting. I believe there is even coffee. I don't mind waiting at Capitol Subaru at all. read more

I took my car in for a free airbag recall and they told me my car had no oil in it. When i went to pick up the car the guy insisted that the car was completely empty. Josh was my advisor during my most recent visit and talk about a WOW experience! I was getting my windshield replaced and Josh made sure everything was coordinated perfectly. I was greeted immediately upon arrival to my appointment, provided a loaner while the work was being done, and the work was completed a an hour earlier than anticipated. If you decide to wait for your vehicle, they have a comfortable waiting area and there's even 2 workstations where you can set up your laptop if you need to work All in all, I will continue to pass the other service centers and bring my business to Capital because of the excellent customer service and I truly feel valued. read more

Battery not hold charge. DGDG does not care about customer satisfaction. Love the outback but.....I have been experiencing electrical issues with the batter for over a year and a half. They updated the software and replaced the battery which helped for about 4 months. Then the problems started again. Took the car back in and to them after about 5 days of non use, the battery was dead again. The came back after 5 days and said it was fine because they started it twice a day every date. Of course it was fine..they apparently do not list to the problem. Now August is here and after 4 days of non use it did it again. Then just having the doors open just to vacuum and dust it would not start. The lights on the this small amount of time and have the battery go dead is unacceptable. The people I know with a non 2016 Outback are not having this problem and can go weeks with no battery usage. Other autos that I have had along with other friends and family with various makes/models do not have this problem. Never had this problem with my 99 for explorer and until 2021 I had the this auto. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM ANY DGDG BUSINESS. Note: Not once during a year and a half did the service manager every call me to help resolve. As of 8/30 the battery situation is worse. After driving approx 40-50 miles, in the afternoon to charge the battery, by midnight it was totally dead again. I am willing to upgrade this rating if Subaru resolves the issue. LShort September 23 Update. Subaru offered to contact me and I provided my contact information approximately 2 weeks ago. They never made contact. I took my car to another Subaru dealer and they found the problem. Apparently at some point DGDG added a blackbox/tracker to my car at some point without my knowledge. The other dealer found that it was drawing from my battery and have now disconnected it. Thanks to their knowledge and listening to the saga, they dug down enough to find the problem. Question: Why did DGDG not find the problem and only provided the answer was to buy a solar charger to keep the battery charged when not in use. read more

It was determined that they would need to keep the car for a couple of days to complete the service so Javier offered to arrange for a loaner vehicle for my boss to use in the mean time at no charge! This was truly a blessing. Two days later my bosses car was finished and ready for pick up but she was tied up in meetings all afternoon. I asked Javier if she could bring the loaner car back on the following day and he agreed she could bring it back by noon the following day. My boss really appreciated that accommodation! When I returned the loaner car back to Subaru on the following day and picked up my bosses Forrester, Javier was right there making sure to walk me out to her vehicle and explain the services they did as well as ask me if I had any questions or concerns. I came up with a convenient time and received a confirmation. Dropping off our Subaru was easy and quick. Alfred Te greeted me and professionally confirmed the reason for the appointment and asked me when I needed my Subaru back. So the recall repair went as expected, I received a phone call from Mr. Te a few hours later to pick up my car. In this case the recall worked performed was at no cost. First time at this dealership. Brought in my car for service due to a recall. Service was good and they gave me a loaner car for a few days. Upon returning the loaner, I was offered a car wash so I took it. I waited there for about 20 minutes and thought that was quick before I was good to go. My car pulled up from the car wash and was still wet but I didn't really mind. (Lexus in Fremont would offer a free car wash and would dry it on my Lexus.) I threw my backpack on the passenger seat and I took off. It was not until I had just left the dealership that I realized my car had an extra 2 miles on it from when I first dropped it off according to the paperwork. Thought it was strange at first since the lot isn't that big but whatever. Then I also realize that my dashcam was unplugged, it smelled like cigarettes in my car, and my aux cord was completely untucked from the dash . I am only a stoplight or two away from the dealership but they were just closing up and I had somewhere to be. I am annoyed at this point but that is not even the worst part. I get home, pick up my backpack, and realize that there is a used facemask and used toothpick on my passenger seat. Everything clicked and made sense at this point that my car was used to grab lunch and no attempt was made to even make it look the way that it was when I dropped it off. My sun shade was also on the floor in the back when I usually tuck it in between my passenger seat and the middle console. This was an extremely disgusting experience with Capitol Subaru. I have seen YouTube videos of caught dealership employees driving customer's cars for errands, but never thought I would be in this situation where they didn't even care about treating my car like trash.
