I've had my 2020 Tacoma since the end of Feb 2020. I bought some aftermarket wheels along with my truck. I'd suggest buying these elsewhere after your purchase of your vehicle rather than getting them at the dealer. I think i overpaid for them, for one. But, also, they told me the OEMs were 17inch so they ordered me a set of 17s. When they arrived, they found out the OEMs, their product - mind you, are actually 16s. I was informed one of the sales managers was going to try and screw with me by giving me a pair of 17 inch tires they had laying around and keep the 16 inch tires that came with the stock ones. Luckily for me one of their salesmen had a moral conscience and talked his manager out of it, noting their mess up with ordering the wrong wheel size. The down side to getting free tires is they are a mangey looking highway tread - Duelers. So fast forward to today.... I swapped out the new wheels with road tread and put on the stock wheels with OEM Goodyears on them. Find out that the lug nuts are non standard 6 spline... They never told me they were not going to work with a a normal lug nut wrench. Thank God I wasn't out on the trail or on a mountain pass with a blown tire and unable to get my friggin wheel off! and instead just swapping wheels with more aggressive read for the winter months to come. They never informed me the wheels I bought came with these lug nuts and they did not provide me with a drive key to get them off when it came time to take them off. Plus! They kept my OEM lug nuts so I had to buy an entire new set that would work with the OEM wheels. That's a $100 worth of nuts. Other than this fiasco with my wheels the buying experience was okay so that's why I'm giving them a so-so rating. read more

Attempted to purchase a 2024 Land Cruiser. Did preliminary paperwork over internet. Drove to dealership from Portland and thought I should reach out to request I would like to have everything ready to go so I wouldn't be there all day. I was told it would take three hours, and if today didn't work, perhaps I should reschedule for another day. I was told this after 45 minutes into the drive down there. Once there, I was treated very curtly and told their process is two to three hours. This is how they treat you when you're going to drop $77,000? If you want to work with a dealership that treats you with respect and values your time, this is NOT where you want to buy. I left and will work with another Toyota dealer. read more

I'm very disappointed in the service here. I've never dealt with a toyota service center like this one. At my first appointment, an oil change took three hours not including the car wash. At a follow up appointment, I waited 2 hours before hearing any update on my vehicle (I was told it would be finished in 90 minutes), and by hour three they had only diagnosed the issue, they hadn't even begun fixing it. They've made me late for work twice even though I informed them wgen I needed to be finished by a certain time. They have no respect for their customers time at all. read more

I have no reason to give them less than 5 stars. MUCH better service from when I first went in. Had a horrible coolant leak in my pickup, was quoted within minutes, and told parts were a few days out. Not only did the parts arrive early but they replaced that crappy 17 year old plastic with strong, durable, and long lasting metal. The truck runs great, no more leaks and no overheating. Rating the service department. I went in this week 2 times for service with both my vehicles purchased from them. Every time is such a long wait. 2 hours. First vehicle- they didn't fix the problem, ignored the tire sensor light and didn't wash my truck. I thought a car wash was included with all services. The only reason why I take my car there in the first place. Second time- 2 plus hour wait. Less service needed done. Place was not as busy at the first visit. I was tired of waiting, went to check on my car at the front desk. I saw it was parked and ready for me. For how long was it sitting there? No clue? Never received a notification that it was ready. When I told the front desk girls, they didn't say anything. Paid my bill, walked out and they forgot to give me my key. Walked back in, asked for my key and there was no response or apology from the girls. This will be the last time I book service through capital Toyota. They don't care about anyones time and good customer service is not important. read more

It's rare that I ever post a negative review but this one has weighed on me for quite sometime. I've purchased a few vehicles from Capitol Toyota and thought I'd would continue to do so but after my last two times I went in I was utterly repulsed by their behavior and professionalism. I originally went in around July to down size my vehicle to a smaller SUV and I was torn between two different models. I test drove the first one and liked it but again wanted to try the other model I was interested in. When I asked I was told if I decided to test drive the second model I would forfeit my spot on the first model. I thought to myself well that's odd....but okay I guess I'll just sit in the second model. I decided to proceed with the first since I truly didn't know if I'd like how the second model drove. Already I was feeling slightly disappointed, while sitting down discussing my trade in value and what not about 3 different sales men interrupted asking the salesman in front of me if I was serious about buying the vehicle because they have serious buyers waiting to buy right now. They had pulled my credit at this point so yes I would say I was serious about making a deal happen....I found this behavior rude and disgusting. After going back and fourth my gut told me to walk from this and I did. I ended up calling a different Toyota Dealer - Medford Toyota to be exact and they ordered the exact model and color of vehicle I wanted. Did Capitol make me aware this was an option? Nope. They did not. Finally my new Toyota came in so I decided to see who would give me the best deal on my current vehicle. Called a few dealers one of them being Capitol - HUGE MISTAKE ON MY END. They refused to give me a ballpark on what value my SUV was worth said I had to make an appointment and bring it down....okay fine. I make the appointment and drive my SUV down there. What a waste of an hour and half...process shouldn't have taken as long as it did since it took the guy about 30 minutes after I got there to look at my car and it was minutes later he had an offer. He brought me an offer less that what I owed. I shook my head laughed and said no. I had offers higher but again like any normal person you want the best deal. Moral of the story Capitol doesn't pride themselves in being professional, they don't care about your time, they don't care to listen to what you're looking for either, and when it comes to offers they clearly are looking to low ball and waste your time. So do yourself a favor and call another dealership. I'd recommend Medford Toyota any day! It's worth the drive to get $5000 more on my trade in value. I had to wait in my car for 15 minutes before they finally even acknowledged me waiting. Sitting in the waiting area a man was sitting across from me coughing his head off without a mask on at all. I mentioned it to two separate people and they both said,"He's supposed to have a mask on." Neither one of them said anything to the man. This was totally irresponsible. The service was good except making wait 15 minutes after my appointment time. It's usually good but I'm so disappointed by their lack of concern over a man coughing repeatedly without a mask on, I may go elsewhere next time. read more

If I could give a NEGATIVE 10 stars I would. NO INTEGRITY AT ALL!!! I was contacted by a sales associate that a vehical was on the lot and available for purchase. I indicated that I wanted it and I would be there as soon as possible. I live in Portland so it took about 45-50 minutes to arrive. I get there and met up with the contact person. He went for the keys and came back 10 minutes later telling me that it "just had been sold"!!! I took off work, drove down from Portland , had an appointment, cash in hand (NO LOAN NEEDED) to buy the truck......No sorries or remorse at all. I called and spoke to a manager....really didn't care. There in a place right now where they can be as RUDE as they want to be to anyone and get away with it since some models are hard to come by. Capitol Toyota is just as bad as any in the Portland area.....snotty, dismissive, arrogant with absolutely NO INTEGRITY at all!!! Want happy with the broker. Salesman was great, but when Dad came over, (no really it was his dad) to close the deal out came the old high pressure bull shyot. I'll never go back. Service has always been great, but that's it. I should have walked out when he wrote a price down on a piece of paper and wanted me to sign next to it just to see if I would for real. This review is of the service dept. On Friday 9/7, I took my RAV4 in for a rattling sound coming from the B-pillar right above my left ear (see photo of note). When I got there I met with Charissa Bolton, my service advisor for this particular visit. I told Charissa the nature of the problem, she suggested we take a drive to replicate it so we did. While I was driving, she stated she could not hear anything. I pulled over, had her get in the drivers seat and begin driving to replicate the issue. Immediately she heard the rattle, acknowledged the problem and asked to keep the car all day to have time to take care of it. I agreed and left the vehicle at Capitol all day, which was a huge inconvenience since I had to work. Nevertheless, I was told the issue would be looked at and fixed. A couple of hours later, Charissa called and said they could not replicate the problem. I asked her to clarify since she was there with me and heard it herself. She stated that because the tech didn't hear it, there was nothing they could do. I could not have made it any easier for them! I even wrote down the ideal conditions to best replicate the problem on a post-it note that I left on the speedometer! So even when you do half the work for them, they still can't complete the job and fix the problem. Wow. I picked up the vehicle later that day to find it with the AC on full blast. This would have easily prevented them from "replicating the issue" as they wouldn't have heard a damn thing while the air was blowing that hard. The installed emergency lights I have for work had also been tampered with and taken off the setting in which I left them. Seems as though they spent more time cooling off while horsing around with the lights instead of actually trying to find the problem and fixing it. Meanwhile, the car still makes that rattling sound and I wasted a whole day waiting around for them to do absolutely nothing. read more

!!MUST READ BEFORE YOU SHOP HERE!! This is the most unprofessional dealership I have ever dealt with. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! We spent a couple hours at this dealership going back and forth about their mistakes after waiting 3 long months for a vehicle we put a deposit on. First we were quoted $42995 and then I was told that was a quote from March and they can't honor that although I placed a deposit! Oh it gets even better...they were trying to charge us $636.50 for license alone not including title and Multnomah county fee. When I brought that up after doing my research on oregon DMV..by some miracle it got dropped to $288.50 and was told the sales person selected the wrong vehicle to license. So then that sales manager named Michael Anderson sent me a proposal with the new amounts on Thursday evening. So come today, we get to the dealership and I'm presented a proposal by another sales manager named Adam Smith for $52,000(over 6k above Msrp) and then I present the proposal I received Thursday and was told Michael Anderson gave us the wrong proposal although it had our name on it. Adam said the proposal was for a car that was sold and there's absolutely nothing they can do about. I will not be sending any of our family and friends to this place and do not recommend them either to those who read this. You'll get robbed! read more

They took my deposit for a special order and when the truck arrived, they sold it to some one else. The day I found out it was gone, I called 13 dealers attempting to locate another one. Capitol Toyota called back and said they had what I was looking for. I wanted that truck badly, and they knew it. Normally that's a horrible position to be in when purchasing a vehicle. (Finance Manager), and Jose Carrillo (Sales Agent) for being patient, helpful, and understanding. We arrived at about 11:00 and went to the desk for assistance. Victor the Sales Manager asked how he could help. I shared my daughter was looking for a 2018 4Runner. Victor said, he may have to call on a sales agent to help us saying that he may be called away. I laughed and said that managers/leaders juggle many things daily. Victor walked us out to the lot where he showed us two vehicles on sale. They sold a car out from under me on day 9 of a 10 day hold when I told them I was on my way to buy the car. I was waiting for their finance department to get me approved within the 10 days. I had to get approved thru my own bank since there's was taking forever. Sales lady assured me the keys were In her desk and not to worry. After they sold the car to someone else, I got a similar car the next day then they delivered it to me in an unsafe spot in the parking lot, creating a danger for me. I was inevitably hit by a car in the lot and the new vehicle sustained $9k worth of damage. They kept stating it was my responsibility since it was now my car. I was badly injured and so was a salesperson. I got out of the deal and didn't have to keep the car, but that was because of a financing contingency that wasn't met properly. They tried to cancel my GAP coverage because I put too large of a down payment- in reality they wanted to cancel gap because the car was no longer worth it's original value. Terrible dealership. Bad customer service, dangerous to work with them, they don't keep their promises about vehicle holding, and they don't take responsibility for their actions. read more

This dealership picked up my 77 year old father from his home and sold him a car without him test driving it. They told him that he was paying one price and he was getting some free service contracts. I looked over the paperwork today and they basically sold him every single type of contract that they have. The total of the contracts (not including the car) was over NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS! I called them today about this problem and they don't have time to help me and I might get a call in 3 days. I feel like they are taking advantage of senior citizens and not clearly explaining anything, especially if my father thought they were free services with the car. READ BEFORE YOU GO TRUST ME I MIGHT BE HELPFUL !!!! I read most of these comments just to make sure that I wasn't the only one who got his car fucked up after going to this Toyota dealership. After I read the comments I found out that things that happened to me happened to other people that went there. So I took my car for a check up because it stopped running and then when I go they said I need a new battery hybrid battery cost me 2580 so I paid it and then after my brother went to check up on it and they said it's ready so they gave him the keys he drives to work an hour away from Salem to Sandy and then when he comes back we found out that they haven't put the battery yet so we go back they said that they messed up and they still have to put the battery I looked it up on The Internet and it says that if you drive your car without the battery it will explode so looking at it they put my brother life in danger. And then I told myself OK it was an accident so I let it go and then I go take the car after they fix it three weeks later my car stop moving in the middle of the highway it went from 80 to 20 but I was good because the highway was empty I called the tow truck company and they came and took it and dropped it off I paid $300 for the tow truck I told the tow truck driver to leave the car at the Toyota dealership until I go in the morning because if I left it at my house I wouldn't be able to drive it to the dealership and then I go talk to Misty R assistant service manager/ velma I told her what happened she told me that they are going to have to check It out I told her I just paid 2580 it hasn't even been three weeks and my car breaks down. she is the worst like the worst employee ever I would never recommend this Toyota dealership anybody else a business goal is to respect the customers to help the customers that's why you get paid. I told her I already have two check ups from my job because every time I go to the dealership I'm always late for work my work is one hour away. Made an Appointment for 9am Tuesday and called several days before to the Chevy Service department to make sure the parts for my truck were in stock and was told by the arts department that they were. The Service Department intake was Good, they came out right away and got me right in. After getting my trailer sensor fixed I was told the other parts were no longer available? So I paid for them ahead of time and will have to come back later to get them. Then I got the BIG surprise, a new computer system now charges a 3% credit card fee. No one ever told me that ahead of time. So please in the future let your customers know ahead of time of the charge. Thank you! read more

I wanted to purchase the Venza Limited with the Pano moon roof and Technology package. I spoke with various dealerships and although Capital Toyota is over 2 hours away, they had the car, and the price I was happy with. I had detailed texts with the internet sales person and provided a deposit to hold the car. We agreed on price, car, pickup time and date. I was assured my car would be ready for purchase when I arrived after work on 11/25/20. After the 2+ hour drive, I arrived at Capital Toyota excited to purchase my car! I walked in, stated I was there for my appointment to buy my new Venza. I was met with confused looks and a random sales guy was called to assist me. I tried to explain why I was there but instead he only heard the word venza and brought me out to look at a base model version. I told him no, that was not the car I was there to purchase. Again he looked baffled and asked what I was talking about. I explained that I already had the details of the sale worked out and that I was there to pay cash for a car. I provided him with the stock number and told him I could show him the texts. He didn't listen and angrily marched off to the back without saying a word. I was left there without any explanation. 20 minutes later I approached the sales counter to ask if we were still being helped or if I needed to speak with someone else. The receptionist called to the back where the sales guy had disappeared to and asked for the manager Joe. After a few minutes she hung up and said they didn't know if they even had my car. The person who had given me a ride there had already left and was well on their way home. 15 minutes later, Joe appeared with the sales guy and said they had great news. They had my car somewhere on the lot but the keys were lost. They asked for some time to see if they could locate the keys. I didn't have a choice since my ride was already halfway back home by this point. Another 20 minutes later, Joe and the sales guy appeared and had keys in their hand! I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. Up and down, up and down but I was thrilled I would have my car and that I wasn't stranded without a ride home. Joe apologized for my trouble and for the "misunderstanding" regarding the car being ready to purchase and for the keys being lost. At this point, the dealership was closed, it was late, and most of the employees had gone home. He agreed to provide me with a couple of Toyota accessories to make up for the inconvenience. I thanked him for his help. I was told to download the Toyota App for the remote start feature which I did with the help of the sales person. I was then passed off to finance to sign paperwork which went smoothly since I was paying cash. I purchased the extended bumper to bumper warranty for some peace of mind. The next day, I tried to use the remote start to warm up my car before work using the Toyota App as instructed. It did not work. No problem, I thought, I can figure that out later and just use the key FOB for now. Nope. Did not work. I tried everything that was suggested in the manual and online and more. Remote start is something I counted on for these freezing temperatures as well as the hot summers to make the car comfortable before my long commutes. I called and left numerous messages for Joe to make sure there wasn't something that was supposed to be installed or done prior to be driving off the lot. Well. Joe has never gotten back to me. He did have another rando sales guy give me a call And mansplain to me how to press the SOS button in my Venza to ask for assistance, as if the operator knows why the remote start function won't work. He assured he would call me back that evening to make sure I could get it to work (11/9/20) and never heard back from him. On 11/11/20, I took my Venza to my local Toyota dealership. Learned that my car has a defect and does not have the ability to start remotely although it should. I was advised to speak with Joe at Capital so he could remedy this situation. He has yet to return my calls or requests for assistance with this matter. read more

It didn't occur to me to find a Toyota dealership until I got into the car and discovered I couldn't actually get into the car. Turns out, when my handy-man moved my car 5 days ago, (he'd never driven a Prius) --- he not only didn't realize you have to push the [START] button to start it -- he didn't realize you have to push it again, to turn the car off. 5 days on -- even the Prius' massive batteries had depleted. So I called the dealership I'd bought the car from in Texas -- and they got me the phone # of Toyota in Salem -- just 50minutes away from my house. They talked me through how to get into a car that doesn't start with a key; how to test this and that to tell what was really wrong -- we got my handy-man and his buddies to try and jump it several times -- then concluded that I needed to bring the car in (!) even though it was still dead as a rock. Finally, a mechanic (who was getting as frustrated as I was) suggested putting a "trickle charger" on it overnight -- which worked! It was charged and ready to go -- but I took it to Salem anyway for a check-up, since both I and the car were a little traumatized and hesitant to risk it all happening again. The dealership is clean, spacious, and pet-friendly (they even have dog biscuits) and they have comfortable waiting areas that allow for 4-legged customers who like to sit by the fire on cold wintry days. Everything checked out -- and thanks to their quick-thinking service department -- I avoided a big towing bill. Excellent. read more

I reached out to Charlie after he left the comment above. I sat down with him during a service on my RAV4 shortly after his note above. Charlie was great. He told me about some movement they had done staffing wise in relation to my review and he wanted my direct input on how they could make things better. Integrity and transparency were two words I used. In response to what I had asked for, Charlie was unable to provide me with my tires and rims from my RAV4, though he did provide me with a used set of limited rims from an unknown SUV (Value maybe $200?). Charlie's reach out to me convinced me to give Capital Toyota another opportunity the next time I am looking for a vehicle, but I'll be more wary of deceptive business practices from this business. read more

Went in Friday afternoon to get our Tacoma serviced and to look at the new Corollas. Our salesman Brice Jackson took the time to answer any questions we had (we took our time and looked at every corolla on the lot) without making us feel rushed. We were pre-approved when we went in, but they got us a better rate through Toyota Motor. Wouldn't show me the truck because they didn't have it. Pushed for a commitment instead. Demanded a second salesman. Same thing, pushy and lying to my face even when I told them I knew better. General manager came out after I insisted on talking to him. He was a joke as well. Trying to insist that a few thousand miles on a "new" car, doesn't effect the value. Bunch of jokers. After much research online we reached out through cargurus found something he thought he would like and they got us an appointment that day through the GM Aaron. He set us up with Gavin who was very informative about the car he was interested in. He asked questions offered other suggestions and other cars. After test driving the car we went to see, my son knew it was the one. From the begining there was never any pressure. No nonsense, no dancing. Gavon was awesome! After leaving a review, I was put in contact with Charley E. Charley offered a complimentary oil change, and offered to take a look at the rotors, balancing, etc. - basically, find out why the car shakes during braking. I told him that I wasn't interested, given how bad my experiences have been in the past. Ultimately, I agreed to return because Charley told me that all of the work would be complimentary. Someone from the service department called and scheduled an appointment and restated that the work would be complimentary. Fast forward to the appointment. I show up, and Misty R. cannot find any notes explaining the reason for my visit. She also cannot find any notes from Charley, or anyone else, saying that the work is complimentary. I told her what work was to be performed, and asked for some additional work (engine air filter, cabin air filter, clean the battery). She said that she would speak with Charley, and would even ask if the battery service would be complimentary. She would call me with an update. Four hours after my appointment time, she calls me and tells me that the complimentary oil change is done. She told me that the rotors need to be machined. If I wanted the rotors machined, "It will cost you $175.00". I told her that this work was supposed to be complimentary, and she told me that only the oil change was complimentary. She offered no explanation. I asked her if she spoke with Charley, and she told me that she wasn't able to reach him. She offered no options other than to pay for the service; too bad if I didn't like it. I told her that what she was doing wasn't right. She was extremely rude and argumentative, and we weren't getting anywhere together. I asked to speak with a manager, and I was told that "I am an assistant service manager". If I wanted to talk to another manager, she could transfer me to someone's voicemail. Ultimately, I was transferred to a different service advisor - the one that called me to schedule the appointment. She didn't remember calling me, nor did she remember that Charley told her that the work was complimentary. She put me on hold, tried to reach him, but he was evidentially out of the state. At this point, she said that the work would be complimentary, "just so you can get your car out of here." Gee, thanks. Somehow, they forgot to change the engine and cabin air filter, and to clean the battery. Oh well, to a different dealer I go. Please, please read the other reviews about this service shop and save yourself the trouble. They are all accurate. Take your Toyota Care elsewhere. Cancel your "Capitol Care". Service your car anywhere but here! You probably shouldn't even buy a car here; how can you trust these people? read more

I only give four stars due to replacement part prices on things you can get for less than half price online or most part stores including Amazon.... fix that and a better rating will follow. read more

Im writing this review a few years after I bought my truck. I went to Capital in 2019 looking for a Tundra. They had one built on the showroom floor. I feel in love with the truck and still love it. I had a two year old 4 runner limited I wanted to trad in. I made the deal and signed the papers. About 3 weeks later they called me and said they made a mistake and I owed them 5000.00 dollars. I had to deal with that for several weeks until they backed off. They were trying to scam me out of more money. Even though I love my truck I would never ever give them my business again. read more

Bought a vehicle a little over a week ago and had a very pleasant experience with Adam Smith. He was an excellent salesman who did not put me nor my parents through the pain of high pressure sales or nonsense. Everything was very straightforward and no games. Car purchases should always be this pleasant. I normally dread meeting car salesmen, but I read multiple reviews from others recommending Adam, and they were correct. I called ahead of time to make sure the vehicle I was interested in was still available and that he would be working. He answered my questions and concerns thoroughly and did not waste my time driving out to Salem. I highly recommended anyone who needs a Toyota to go to Capitol Toyota in Salem. I'm from Portland and it was a bit of a drive, but completely worth it given the positive purchasing experience and follow up. Our original sales person was new and friendly! But then when the finance guy came up to met us after we submitting our pay stubs, his first comment to us was," wow, you guys don't make much money do you?!" No but we are not rich, we are public school teachers. I would love to have told Salem Keizer teachers that this was a great place to buy a car and stay local! But unfortunately, I cannot. What upsets me was not that we were not able to make a deal but that we were treated with such disrespect from the people higher up in this company. We were able to make the payments that they needed from us to get the car we wanted but with their horrible attitude towards us, no thanks. And then they tell me that oh we're only excepting a deposit from local people when I ask about the one specific car that they advertised. Can you say bait and switch. These people were so eager to get their hands on our money that they didn't bother to get us a car with the options we ordered. When we tried to follow up with our sales rep several attempts failed and we got no call back. They have no written or traceable record of what we asked for, all the things we thought we negotiated into the price are either impossible to include now or will be paid for out of pocket. Their service department has since been unable to diagnose a noisy, rattling engine (in a brand new 2020 Sienna with fewer than 4,000 miles on it that cost over $40,000). And only after my consistent complaints and showing them videos of a car that apparently only malfunctions when I drive it, did research and realized that there is a recall on a vacuum pump for our model. Garbage service, garbage experience, I will go to lengths to about purchasing from them again. Bleeehh. Super bummer too, because we wanted to love this car! 7/26 update: Capitol Toyota responded to say that 'if we changed our mind the door would be open.' With the five year warranty we purchased, I should sincerely hope so. *Probably* not changing my mind on service until that expires... but thanks? read more
