Just got back from Florida and was craving fresh fish. Everything was delicious! We split the Tilapia crispy fried and it was so great and hot! We also split the Philly Seafood roll which was amazing. They give good portion sizes as well. I will be back soon! read more

Most reviews have been good, but I am sorry I did not have a good experience with my husband last week, for $42.00 it was really subpar, the wait out on the parking lot was over half an hour, by the time we got home the fries were soggy, the coleslaw had way to much mayonnaise and I had an unidentified fried object in my fries, the salmon was ok, my husband wasn't impressed either, sorry , we might give them another chance sometime but overall for the money , Not impressed at all. This was on my list to try for awhile. So happy we did!! It was unbelievably good. It is a seafood market and also a place for people to sit down and eat their food there. Very busy spot around dinner time. I want to try so many more of their items. I got the lobster roll. It was great. Huge pieces of lobster like I was in Maine again. I got the cornbread and it came with two hush puppies. Cornbread is ok. Hush puppies are really really good. We also had the green beans, amazing and the coleslaw-also amazing. My meal came with candied yams. Tasted like thanksgiving. Husband's meal came with Mac and cheese which tasted like the best comfort food ever. He got the Platter which was a good array of many specialties at Caplingers. I loved the fresh grilled seafood. Made me think I was on the coast. Right here in Indy!! read more

Stopped here yesterday for lunch. I had heard good things but had never been in myself no had an appointment nearby and stopped after for lunch. I am so glad I did. It was fantastic! I had the salmon sandwich grilled with old bay seasoning and remoulade sauce. I had buffalo chips and their collard greens as sides with two bonus hush puppies too. The food was so delicious! Fresh and so good. The collard greens were the best in town as advertised. Chips were the perfect mix of crispy and soft and came out hot and fresh. The sandwich was the bomb and I finished everything. I even took home some seafood pasta salad, Cajun crab dip and spinach crab dip. All of those are great too. The service was also above and beyond. Tim Armstrong, the market manager, brought the food out and made sure everything was perfect. He was helpful and kind and you could tell he cared about the customers, the good, and the restaurant. Caplinger's Special is a regular for me. It's delicious...I prefer fried. I love the collared greens as a side. The hush puppies aren't for me, but most people love them...any onion is too much (for me) and there is definitely some in there. Order online and save yourself some time. read more

Food is amazing! Fish is fresh and can be cooked however you want it too. The only complaint I have is the dining room is too small to service everyone who comes. Tight entrance makes it hard to move around. I suggest ordering your food to go. Outside eating is far removed from the restaurant- not accessible and hot during the summer months. read more

Caplinger's deserves no less than 5 stars for their Seafood alone. Their sides are first rate as well. As far as their Seafood other than Florida & East Coast locations where seafood is readily available and right there, Caplinger's is the best we can possibly get in Indiana. read more

We've now ordered 3 times and the food has been very good. Sometimes we had to wait 20-30 minutes for carry out but it's worth it. The alligator is especially good since you can't find that elsewhere. The catfish sandwich also very good. Will be a regular there! read more

Caplingers is the real deal. Shoutout to Tim who assisted us because we had never been there before, his break down of the menu and suggestions were extremely helpful. The staff was friendly and personable. The food was pretty good. I had the catfish with Mac and cheese and candied yams. My wife had catfish, hush puppies, and fried okra. I also had some gator bites (they really do taste like chicken) the sauce that came with the bites was really tasty. Excited to go back and try some of the other items and purchase some of the fresh fish from the market. Wait time wasn't bad either considering everything is being made fresh. Use to go frequently to the one in Whitestown but after they closed I discovered their booth at the AMP. Where their fish and shrimp are just as good as it was in Whitestown. I have friends that live at Ft. Harrison & I plan to take them to the Shadeland Ave. location to check it out. I haven't been to that one but I expect that it to be just as good. Very seldom do I ever write a negative review. However today I was sorely disappointed. Placed an order online. Went to pick up the order they told me 10 minutes. Stood there onehour and 30 minutes. Several people told me they seen my order five minutes 10 minutes.I stayed there 90 minutes ended up walking out with no order and no refund. I had been planning a visit to this establishment for a while and was excited to try it. When I arrived, it looked great! I ordered the seafood Philly melt based on a recommendation. The melt was $24.00. I was asked if I wanted to make it a combo, so I added 2 sides, which added $8.00 to the price. Then I was asked what drink I wanted. This cost yet another $3.00. You would have thought that a combo would include a drink but not here! This meal now costs over $32.00 with tax. When the food arrived, I was appalled! The sides were VERY small, 6 hushpuppies, and the collard greens were in a little plastic cup. I have gotten bigger cups of ketchup! Needless to say, paying an additional 8$ for this was absurd! Now the sandwich. Based on the description in the menu, I was expecting actual pieces of seafood. What I got was a small sandwich roll with 3 shrimp and something that resembled minced seafood. I couldn't even tell what type of seafood it was. it could have been ground up whitefish for all I knew. This was all covered with melted cheese. Needless to say, it was extremely disappointing. The only reason that I gave 2 stars was, even though the sides were extremely overpriced and quite small portions, they were very tasty. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more
