A burnt dried out, Chicharrón De Puerco Con Yuca Con Mojo

Hoping to get some authentic Cuban food I got a Chicharron and it was absolutely the worst ever in my entire life. I have never had something so dry and no taste. It's actually cooked way too long

Highly recommend this place. Great authentic Cuban food at a reasonable price. The server was also really nice and welcoming. I am a Spanish-speaker though. The mangu with onions was delicious! So was the salami that it came accompanied with. Everyone loved their plates. The sweets, specifically the quesito and senorita, could have been better though

This little hole in the wall was so good that I could see myself eating here all the time, with one small exception. The music playing is infinitely too loud....so loud there is no reasonable way to eat outside and the music still permeates inside to the restaurant, but at least inside it's not ear shattering. Inside are a few small tables and a counter filled with yummy things to eat. The menu is very nice, the choices abundant and the prices reasonable. Our server Sandra was a lovely, charming young lady. My arroz con pollo was superb and the croquettes were moist and tasty. The chicken soup was also delicious, but the cup was way to small and that would probably be something I'd pass on next time, only because of the size. The atmosphere is charming and the entire staff friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I came in on a Thursday around 1pm. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating in this small establishment. I had a very hard time ordering the food with no English speaking staff but they were very friendly and welcoming regardless! I ordered the Capri Cuban with fries. I don't think it was understood that I wanted the fries to be cooked well-done however they still showed up with the perfect crisp! The Cuban had a heavy helping of ham and one slice of roast beef (?) which left me absolutely stuffed for $12. I had a hard time asking what the price point was for the pastries but ended up getting an apple turnover ($1.75), a guava butter cookie ($?), and a churro (2 for $3 that they gave me for free!). My total came out to around $22. While I appreciated them getting me a warmed churro, it was warmed on the outside but still frozen/cold on the inside. The service was welcoming but I was not blown away from the food.

This is what I got delivered today ... What in the world is this??? Disgrace and poor excuse for "Cuban food/ pastry".

This is what I got delivered today ... What in the world is this??? Disgrace and poor excuse for "Cuban food/ pastry". Owner was upset about my review on google and accused me on of "having other motives behind my rage"... Let's get the facts straight, I am "ragging" because I spent $60 & 50 cents for DIRTY, UNPEELED carrots in my soup, "Cuban Sandwich" WITHOUT CUBAN BREAD, poor tasting & unappealing looking pastry. I grew up in Miami where there is nothing but Cuban restaurants and cafés in every corner. You might be fooling Palm Beach County into thinking this is Cuban food but you're NOT fooling me ever again.

Here you can- Grab a traditional Cuban cortado "cortadito", grab breakfast, lunch, late evening snack, and traditional Latinx pastries all day. Grab some beers and sit in their outdoor seating, or indoor café , with family, a friend or solo. Do some work w. Their free wifi. My ratings are based on a scale of 1 star to 5 star, where 1 is tragic and 5 is Ouuwwwwww terrific. Overall ratings- 5 stars for what it is. A traditional Cuban café in South Florida. Customer service- 4.5 stars. One is more attentive than the other. cortado- 5 stars on traditional. 4.5 stars overall. 5 stars when made by the Blonde Cuban lady. pastries- 5 stars for the guava & cheese chicarron I had (turnover) Food- unknown bc I did not grab any of their in house sandwiches or kitchen specialties. Cleanliness- 3 stars Decor- 4 stars for what it is Ambiance- 5 stars. Many locals filtering in out of here. You get a good feel for the local latinx community in here. There is an outdoor parking lot island surrounded with palm trees and music to sit and enjoy a quick brew in between errands, or activities or while eating your lunch. You can enjoy more people watching inside tho. Characters welcomed.

However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.

The colorful décor and nostalgic touches throughout the dining room create a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels more like sharing a meal with family than dining out. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated that they were bilingual, making everyone feel comfortable and at home. We shared the Bandeja La Casa del Mofongo con Tostones, loaded with chicharrón de puerco, chicharrón de pollo, masitas de cerdo, salami, and queso. At $22.99, the portion was incredibly generous and easily large enough to share. The meats were flavorful and well-prepared, with the pork perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The tostones were fried to perfection! If you're craving authentic Dominican cuisine , La Casa del Mofongo is definitely a place worth adding to your list.

Curious and hungry, we decided to check it out. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza, and I have to admit, the dark tinted windows made the place seem a little questionable at first glance. I actually got out of the car to peek inside before committing. Once I saw several people dining and enjoying themselves, we decided to give it a shot. Inside, the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a charming Dominican countryside flair. Even the bathrooms had a playful sense of humor that added character to the place. Service started off promptly, and we were seated right away with menus in hand. However, while browsing the menu, I quickly realized that despite the restaurant's name, there were very limited Puerto Rican options aside from the different varieties of mofongo. The menu was overwhelmingly Dominican cuisine, which was a bit disappointing since we specifically came looking for Puerto Rican dishes. We ordered the empanada de cangrejo to start, which was flavorful and freshly made. We also shared the mofongo with masitas fritas, and I will say the food itself was well seasoned, hearty, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our waitress lacked warmth and wasn't particularly attentive. What stood out the most was that she didn't know what sorullos or alcapurrias were, which caught me completely off guard considering we were searching for Puerto Rican cuisine. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the experience didn't fully meet our expectations. If you're looking for Dominican-style mofongo dishes, you may enjoy it. But if you're specifically craving traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, this may not quite hit the mark.

The pineapple is a burst of freshness and sweetness that live a up the whole thing while also balancing sharpness from the onion. If you can here hungry, you're probably putting away 4 tacos. That said, it was really good. I wish they had some combo options though 3 for $16, 4 for $20 etc.
