I needed catering last minute and Capri Express did not disappoint! The food was amazing and portion sizes were generous.

If you are into bowling alley quality pizza, but can't stand the noise, smell, or the shoes this might be the place your looking for... Ordered two sausage slices to go. The slices went directly from the heat lamp to the styrofoam container. Yummy. Server was friendly and did a nice job of up selling me to the 2 for $4 special. They get 2 stars for their effort...pizza alone was 1 star at best. Again, unless you are into bowling alley pizza. ADDED NOTE- Each of the owners reached out to me to apologize for the situation and went above and beyond in their offers to make things right. They assured me that my experience was not the norm, and that making sure slices are heated prior to serving is standard practice. I will take them up on their offer to try them again on my next visit to the area. 5 stars for their efforts. read more

I can't say I was overwehelmed by this express version of the restaurant a few numbers over in this strip mall adjacent to the Burr Rudge Mall. We stopped in after the husband nixed eating lunch at Cooper's Hawk and I ordered an Italian Sausage sandwich. He got ravioli, because he only eats two things - combo sandwich or ravioli - at Italian places. It took forever to get the food and then I felt like I was eating hot air. Absolutely no taste to the sausage and no flavor to the "gravy". From what I could tell, the gravy on the pasta was the same - making me wonder if the pizza sauce was also from the same pot? Sure, it is tempting when the giant slices of thin are 2/$4 and the huge pan pizza slices are $5, but our $17 lunch (with sodas) was no bargain and not very tasty. I can only hope the full version of the restaurant is better. read more

This place is very small with a bar and stools and some tables out on the sidewalk. But the food is excellent and the service is friendly. Went to go use my groupon and was pleasantly surprised. I've always heard the full service Capri was good, this place is good too. They had three pies out in the front that were irresistible. So I got a slice of pepperoni, actually, when you order a slice, it's really TWO slices. The pizza was deelish. Very NYC style versus Chicago style. We also ordered fettucini alfredo and pasta carbonara. The fettucini we were able to get lunch portions of, but the carbonara was dinner sized, so it came with a salad. Our sausage and mushroom pizza was the right amount of sauce, cheese, and fresh toppings with thin, crispy crust. For pastas, we ordered the tortellini paesano and gnocchi Quattro formaggio which both have extremely unique flavors and such tasty sauces that you'll be licking your plate! Another favorite is the Dan Hampton chicken which is a spicy chicken Parmesan and the perfect balance of savory and spice. My family and I ordered Capri express on a Thursday night and it was phenomenal. We ordered a pizza (half with sausage and mushrooms and the other half with sausage mushrooms and black olives). The crust was thin and crispy and the pizza had just the right amount of sauce. One of my favorites at Capri express is the Dan Hampton (Which is a spicy chicken Parmesan dish). I am a huge fan of spicy food and this certainly hit the spot. It is a huge portion of chicken Parmesan over a layer of spaghetti. I also got to try the tortellini paisano. When you order takeout they also give you a small piece of bread for each person which is a nice touch. Will definitely order again. read more

Take out was excellent. They made an extra effort to provide additional items to make it seem like dining in- extra olive oil and bread and Parmesan cheese, red pepper, utensils, napkins. The food was good here, but the interior seemed alittle small...like it was (and I think he did mention) that it was more for carry out....and under the name there were a coupl of different food establishments also. Staff was friendly and it is inside a strip mall so parking looked full but there was a few spots open. read more

Always an excellent choice when you're in the mood for pasta. We ordered the homemade rigatoni vita mia (1st photo), grilled calamari( half eaten), and 8 finger cavitelli in vodka sauce. All of the dishes were excellent. The order was ready on time and still hot when we arrived home. We called to notify the restaurant of an unexpected change in one of the dishes. The worker insisted on coming to us to delivering a new dish even though it was not necessary. Great customer service. read more

The food tastes fresh, homemade style Italian food! I ordered the Chilean sea bass, it tasted great, generous portion but there were no roasted pine nuts as in the description and I did not specify no pine nuts. Sicilian style cheese pizza was also a generous, filling portion; the pizza sauce was so good with a good amount of garlic and not too much oregano taste! Food is ready pronto! This place can be hit or miss. I've dined in, carried out and ordered delivery. Sometimes everything is good, other times it's not. Pizza -- Decent, although I feel like it can be a bit pricey. Salads -- This is where it is definitely hit or miss. Sometimes the steak is barely cooked, sometimes it's burnt to a crisp, sometimes it just tastes weird. Their dressings are kind of blah. My husband has mixed emotions on their Caesar salad. Pasta -- A little harder to mess up, and typically the pasta items are the best items they have. Gelato -- Tastes a bit icy, which means some of it has been hanging around opened in the freezer for a while. For the price they charge, they should not be serving ice cream with protective ice/large chunks of ice in the scoops. In a pinch this place is OK, but it's not on our list of places we regularly order from anymore. read more

Good and quick Italian that's open pretty late. We showed up like 15 minutes before closing, but they didn't seem to mind. It's a little bit pricey and they messed up my fiancé's order. Thought it was the same kitchen as Capri by Gigi in Burr Ridge (made sense.....in the same strip mall) but totally disappointed. WAYYYYYYY too much salt added to the food at Capri Express and I love salt so that says a lot! The Chicken Forget About It was burned on the underside although the top looked great. Totally disappointed with my meal and thought how could this happen given the great meals at Capri by Gigi....but it makes sense now. Different kitchen/oven/chefs/ etc. I don't get why they have the same recipe names. I feel slightly duped here. Hope they lose the heavy salt hand and try not to hide their mistakes in the future. An amazing little restaurant! I love going there, anytime I do the managers are wonderful and the food is even better. The gnocchi and vodka sauce is my ultimate favorite and out of any vodka sauce ive ever had before. As deliveries go, they are always on time with the food hot and ready to eat. Not a Fan! Love the actual Capri restaurant down the way not sure how affiliated this is to it, but express misses the mark pretty much across the board. Pretty much a carry out place so nothing to really say except it's a store front, with some limited seating. Service same thing, however I hate not being greeted with a nice hello when I walk into the place the guy taking my order seemed to be annoyed I was there. Food meh...had the pizza deal...nothing to say hard crust not much flavor didn't seem fresh, they also had a pasta special on the person I was with ordered same thing didn't seem fresh and was very very bland... Much better options in the area!!! Probably will not be back. **Update** Owner reached out to fix the problem! Well to start off I'm extremely picky when it comes to Italian food. Having lived in Italy, I know the difference between authentic Italian, and americanized Italian. This definitely fell into the later category for me. My review is based on only one order / Door Dash delivery, but here it is. Pizza - mediocre. Yes they got the order correct and did add the extra fresh basil requested. However the crust ruined it for me. Had a flavor like saltine crackers and was dry and hard. Any real authentic Italian pizza chef will tell you that what separates great pizza from all the mediocre ones is the crust. In fact crust is about 80% of what makes a great pizza. Would not order the pizza again. The Rigatoni with vodka sauce was slightly better. The sauce had a decent lavor. The noodles were in my opinion overly large and on the thick side. This somewhat over-powered the sauce. When I first tasted it I thought that I preferred the one from Portillos, but after reheating leftovers the next day I decided it was actually pretty good, even if the noodles seem a bit much. The Caesar salad with steak was actually quite good (the steak had a good flavor and was not tough, although quite thin slices it worked and they were generous with the portions on everything with the steak). Really liked the salad and would definitely get that again. Would be willing to try a different pasta. And enjoyed the Caesar. Will go back and try more and report again. Will not order the pizza again though. If I had just tasted the pasta & salad they would have gotten 4 stars. It was the pizza that brought my rating down. sorry! read more

GrubHub directed me to this place. It has near perfect ratings with 560+ reviews!! (Others are usually ~100 reviews) The $7 delivery fee turned me off, but never again - it's worth it! Huge menu to choose from. Delivery estimate was beat - impressive for a chilly Saturday night. Food arrived hot and nicely packaged. Order was correct (yay!). Importantly - the portions are so big!! They lasted me 3 days. Specifics: -chicken parmesan was decent. breading on the softer side, and they pound the chicken thin. not particularly noteable so I might try something else next time. -pasta carbonara was good. ordered it 'baked' - so it was too heavy on the dairy for our liking. pretty fatty. -broccoli was SO GOOD. Very fresh.
