I ordered for the first time from this place tonight. I got an 18" pizza with green peppers and mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and a couple of 24 oz cokes. The mozarella sticks were really hot and good and the marinara sauce was great. The pizza had plenty of good cheese and toppings and tasted really fresh. I liked the crust with the pizza but not the ends all by themselves, but that really doesn't matter to me. I ordered directly from their website and received my order in the time they stated. It's a little expensive but we really enjoyed it. I'll definitely order from here again. The menu looks so good, I may have to actually go in to the restaurant! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I ordered 24 oz cokes and received 16.9 oz cokes. The 24 oz bottles cost 1.81 each and their 12 oz cans cost .99. I should have ordered the cans instead. I'm sure they aren't trying to be deceiving but they should update their website when products change. ***UPDATE: I changed it to 5 stars because the owner replied the same night saying he updated the website prices. Restaurant quality? No Restaurant price? Yes Worth the cost? Definitely not. Ordered out on a whim and got: Scampi Di Cosenza - $17.95 Are you kidding me? For this kind of price I expect something delicious. What did we end up getting? Terrible. Dry noodles. The shrimp we expected to be succulent and juicy. Instead, they were pathetic, shriveled, and tasted like rubber. Highly disappointing. Tortellini Paesano - $14.95 Decent. The alfredo sauce was passable. Overall a very average dish. Not too many complaints. Stuffed Roasted Red Pepper - $10.95 Absolutely drenched and overwhelmed by the vinaigrette. You know something is wrong when you get home and the sauce has leaked out of the box and formed a massive puddle in the plastic bag. In the end, the total came to be more than $45 dollars. Let me start by saying that my family and I love-love-love Capri. We also loved Salerno's which is what used to be in this storefront. Last night we ordered a few dinners from Capri Express, Capri's newest sister restaurant. It's a QSR for pick-up or take-out. Well, when my dad went to pick up the food, they forgot to give him one of the meals! The pizza! Just before he could call, they called saying they'd deliver it free of charge. Ok. Well we continued looking in our food bags and saw they also forgot our side salads (dinners come with soup or salad). We were supposed to have 3 of those. So, we called again and they said they'd send someone out with those. After 1 pick-up and 2 separate deliveries, we had all of our food. My dad was sure to tip the delivery guys but it was just a frustrating situation. I have to say I prefer Salerno's pizza to the Capri Express pizza. (Sadface) But their salad and chicken parmesan were tasty. I'll be back, but I'll be weary. read more

We ate at Capri Express yesterday for lunch and I liked some things and others not so much. I ordered the deep dish pizza for $5 and it's a lot of food. It could have definitely fed both of us with a side of fries. The sauce they use is terrific. On the other hand the crust is over-cooked and it was like eating a stale piece of toast with marinara and cheese on top. I won't order it again. I prefer the Salerno's slice :( My brother got the Italian sausage sandwich which came with fries. I liked the fries a lot. I'll give Capri Express another shot in the future, but if the experience doesn't improve, I'll probably skip them in the future. read more

I ordered delivery through the GrubHub app. I had mixed seafood pasta--The shrimp and calamari were so overcooked they were hard to eat. The mussels and clams tasted strange and had a horrible grainy texture. One half hour after eating a small amount of the entrée I was laying on my couch with cold chills and sweats. I was granted a chance to try this little place free of charge. The pizza dough is awesome (you can never screw up a sourdough). The pizza is great fresh but I wouldn't recommend it cold or re-heated; it didn't hold up too well. The staff was very attentive & fast & they offer catering. Quality was lacking...the driver must've been puffing hard and making turns just the same as pizza was arriving with the cheese half off the crust all slidely off. Seriously. Came here with a friend for a quick lunch while I was in from out of town, and was super excited to see a place that was so proud of being "Chicago". Signed pictures on the wall with staff and big Chicago sports stars, tons of good food items, and great specials. It's a VERY small little place, mostly made to be a walk in and carry-out place. I was told I had to try a slice of pizza, and I hadn't had a good Italian Beef in a while, so I needed one of those, too. The pizza... Meh. Tasted like it had been sitting under a heater for an hour (which, honestly, it probably was), and had the consistency of a piece of cardboard. Not impressed. Next, I dig into the beef, which looked very good. The bread on the beef was great. Nice and warm, and a great taste. The beef, however, was lukewarm. After a couple bites, almost cold. I even told my friend, "Hmmmmm... Maybe this is just their 'take' on Italian Beef? Or maybe they serve it cold at lunch like a sandwich?". Nah. My last two bites of the sandwich, somehow, were piping hot, so obviously the whole thing should have been. I know what you're probably thinking... If it was wrong, I should have said something. I, as well as many other people, don't like to be complainers the first time trying something at a restaurant, so I finished my meal, and left. Ordered vodka sauce and carbonara. Both pastas we horrific, if i owned this restaurant i would be ashamed that such a low quality product was served by my employees. They some how magically found a way to produse two different sauces that were somehow both bland and over salted at the same time. My wife and i lost our appetites after one bite. The customer service here is actually really awesome! The guys are always smiling and always really nice. I usually get their pizza which is on thin crust but I've recently tried their bruschetta calabrese and it was divine. I never thought 4 ingredients mixed together could be so delicious. I've also, in the past, have had some of their pastas. I've tried the cavatelli with vodka sauce. So creamy and thick. I loved every bite. They also have a pasta with bacon bites and peas,the name currently slipped my mind, and it's just as yummy! The pastas are creamy and always full of flavor. After giving them two tastes the jury has rendered their verdict, the food lacks quality and taste. The first taste included eggplant and chicken parmesan sandwiches. At first glance the sandwiches looked good, good portions, fresh bread. Upon further examination the chicken breast covered only half the bread, the sauce tasted straight from the can, and the fries were soggy. The bruschetta was supposed to have basil in it, but after looking hard I couldn't find any. The second taste included their pasta carbonara and vodka rigatoni, along with fried calamari. The rigatoni appeared homemade, but the sauces left a lot to be desired. The carbonara tasted like dishwater. the calamari was tender, but best eaten there. If you want pasta, I suggest takeout from Cooper's Hawk or making a drive to Mangia Mangia (Plainfield/Brainard). read more

We had ordered a pizza from Capri Express several months ago and thought it was OK except the regular crust was much too thick for us We recently ordered another pizza with "thin crust" and sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and extra cheese--$30+ This is the thickest thin crust I have encountered and very cardboardy. For whatever the reason even with all the additions this pizza did not have any significant taste and definitely seemed to be lacking appropriate quantities of the additions. we were very disappointed with this boring pizza and will not be ordering another. Capri Express contacted me (twice) regarding my review and offered me several options: next order free, reimbursement etc. which I truly appreciated. I may take them up on their offer. Taste in pizza is very individual. My taste in crust is not the same as others. However, we realized next day why the pizza was "boring". There was no pizza sauce on the pizza. I am sure this was a very uncommon mistake and does not represent their usual product. The first pizza we ordered was OK (except for, to our taste, a too thick crust) so maybe another chance is merited.
