We came here for an early Mother's Day lunch. Reservations were easily made a week in advance, and we were seated immediately. Food was great, service even better. Vibes on point. FOOD: Everything was delicious and ingredients tasted fresh! * Bread: Complimentary upon request and so yummy! * Cesar salad: Classic, fresh but creamy and well-balanced with dressing and crispy croutons * Burrata: Tasty and easy to share. Comes with 4 pieces of each tomatoes and burrata and served with a wonderful pesto. We opted for the $5 prosciutto add-on. * Pollo alla vodka & Spicy Italian Sausage lasagna: Both were delicious. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of their lasagnas. The chicken and vodka sauce was creamy not overwhelming. The spicy Italian sausage lasagna had a kick, but the spice was subtle. The portions look small but man are they thick and filling! I love the "individual" size servings. Though if paired with some apps, one serving could easily serve 2 people. * Tiramisu: Generous serving - we all shared this. Light, fluffy, creamy, delicious. Topped with a sliced strawberry. Easily shareable and just so yummy! * Affogato: Another great option, if you're looking for a pick-me-up. The espresso is served on the side, so you can add to your liking. Apps were around $15 per dish. Lasagnas were ~$22 each. Desserts were ~$9 each. Our meal came out to about $160 for 4 people. Drinks: We all just opted for water, but they had a pretty decent wine and cocktail menu. (*Eyeing the spritz for next time!*) SERVICE: The staff was super nice, attentive and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our food, and they were quick to clear our empty plates. But not too quick. In really appreciated how they noticed we really enjoyed the pesto on the burrata plate and once the burrata was gone, they offered to bring us some extra bread for it. :) AMBIANCE: So cute!! The entrance is small and among many others along the block, so it could be easy to miss. But once you step inside, the space is such a vibe! You immediately feel like you've been transported to a family restaurant on the coast of Italy. The space is not big, so while not great for huge parties, it'd be nice for a smaller bridal or birthday lunch for 4-6 people. Everything is pink, but obnoxiously. The music is upbeat and not too loud, so you can still easily carry conversations. PARKING: Might be tough, especially on weekends. Mostly metered, street parking. Though there is a paid parking lot around the corner too. BONUS: They had a few tables outside, so also dog friendly! We all left stuffed and happy...with leftovers for dinner. The perfect place for a birthday lunch! The inside is decorated so cute and bright. My family enjoyed tasting all the various lasagna dishes. Our favorites were the Italian Sausage and Zucchine E Mais. The fried gnocchi dish was unique to us and we enjoyed it a lot, too. My partner and I came here on a Wednesday night and had a lovely first experience at Capri Lasagneria! Despite being the middle of the week, we still needed reservations, and quickly realized why - the interior is quite small with pretty limited seating. They do have outdoor seating as well, but definitely make sure you make reservations at least a day in advance! For drinks, we ordered the Hugo spritz and the Negroni, and we loved both! Both drinks were extremely balanced and refreshing. The complimentary focaccia was tasty as well! As big fans of lasagna, we had high hopes for the lasagna here, and we were NOT disappointed! I ordered the Italian sausage lasagna and my partner had the lasagna bolognese, and we absolutely loved both! The Italian sausage had a lovely mild kick to it, and the bolognese had a thick meaty flavor that was equally delicious. The lasagna was cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes were ideal - I often feel overly stuffed from lasagna, but they manage to make the lasagna hearty and filling, but not overly heavy. We were very impressed! We also loved the complimentary tiramisu we got for checking in on Yelp. I've seen a few reviews talk about it being dry, but we didn't have that experience at all - our tiramisu was moist, light, and had a flavor. Service was pretty good as well - it was pretty no frills and perhaps felt a bit rushed, but our drinks and food came fairly quickly, so we certainly weren't complaining! My husband and I came here for dinner and had a really nice time. We started with the gnocchi fritto and the burrata caprese salad. Both were delicious, the gnocchi was nicely crispy and the salad was very light and fresh. For my entrée, I chose the vegetarian lasagna, which was very good. Ever since I heard Capri Lasagneria opened up, I had been wanting to try it, but never got around to doing so. I finally took my daughter there for a lunch date over the weekend. This place is so incredibly cute! It's a pretty small restaurant, but it's nicely decorated and seems to have a nice bar. Lucky for us, it was rather late, so there was no wait for a table. In addition to a few starters, the menu offers six different kinds of lasagna, both vegetarian and non. They also offer four different pastas with four different sauces, as well as proteins and veggies, so you can customize your own dish. My friend tried many of the lasagnas and recommended the zucchini and corn one with pesto sauce so that's what I ordered. It came in a personal frying pan and the portion was very generous. The lasagna arrived with an abundance of shaved cheese on top, but the lasagna itself was rather delicate. It was delicious! The lasagna was so big, I only consumed half and took the rest home. My daughter opted for the fettucine alfredo with chicken and mushrooms. She said it's her new favorite place for fettucine alfredo! I sampled a bite of hers, and I think I'd have to agree with her. The sauce was not pure white, so I wonder if they added a little bit of marsala wine...either way, it was really tasty and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Nowhere on the menu do they advertise that the pasta is freshly made, but it is! Some places charge the same price for pasta and don't use freshly pasta so I feel like Capri Lasagneria is very affordably priced. They also served us a basket of olive focaccia prior to our entrees arriving. My daughter usually doesn't like olives, but they were cut so finely that she didn't mind them at all. Our order consisted of one child pasta with butter and cheese One order of the gnocchi and one order of the Italian lasagna The child pasta was gummy and not al dente, gummy but gummy.The kiddo didn't like it The gnocchi was not pillowy or soft, but it had a chew to it and the sauce just tested like Parmesan cheese. This was a huge miss when it came to equality with customer service. Our table felt like we were the others in terms of getting equal treatment. Our waitress couldn't care less about our table, from the moment we sat down. Here are the differences between how our table was treated as opposed to the other tables. 1. We had to ask for bread, other tables were just given bread. 2. We had to ask for water, other tables were just given water. 3. We had to ask for togo boxes. Other tables they not only gave you the togo boxes they even boxed it for you. Our was the only table that had to box our own stuff. 4. We had to ask for a bag and the check, other tables were given the bag after the server boxed it for them and hung it on their table. The check took forever to arrive. Now onto the food. The server didn't allow us to split the salad when we asked her. We had to split it ourselves and she did NOT give us an extra plate. She had us use our bread plate. The caesar salad was okay, it's a different type of dressing that's almost like an Italian flavored dressing rather than creamy. The minestrone soup was soooo bad (salty and acidic) that I had to send it back. The lasagna bolagnase and sausage one were both 3 stars average. My friends gave it 3 stars because it was slightly burnt. My bolagnase pasta was 3 stars meh. The tiramisu was one of the worst ever. Came here on a Friday with the hubbs & baby.... It did not disappoint! He was craving pasta and I suggested Capri & he was one happy fella and so was the little fella. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. It is small inside with a little outdoor seating & it was pretty busy. Focaccia came out quick. We ordered, received waters, snacked on more bread and enjoyed a nice Burlingame afternoon. Once our food came out, it got quiet. Good sign... the food was delicious so we just couldn't stop eating. We ordered 3 appetizers x 2 (6 total for a party of 6): 2 x Caesar salad - good portions to share, you can't really mess up a Caesar salad and it did not disappoint 2x meatball - each meatball app came with 3 meatballs, so we ordered 2. Things change fairly quickly in a month. The base price for the make your own pasta dish has now increased from $15 to $17 AND they charge $2 for each additional vegetable when it used to be free of charge. I know things are pricey now, but holy smokes, $2 for a few sprinkles of onion bits or a few spinach leaves? I am not a fan. I think the nickel-and-dime tactic has just left a poor taste in my mouth and although I enjoyed this restaurant a month ago, it's no longer worth it for us. The lasgana is now served on plates instead of the cute little pans. Service was also not as good as it was the first couple of times we went. Our waitress was very nice and some things were out of her control. We ordered the peach salad and lo and behold...it as dropped off by another staff member without a word AND it was missing all the peaches! Wouldn't you notice that the peach salad is missing peaches? They also didn't ask if we wanted cheese grated on top of any of the dishes, but the table next to us got a heaping mountain of parmesan. My husband and I had a great lunch experience here the other day. We decided to sit outside as we had our pooch with us. They have space heaters and blankets available in case it gets too chilly. You get some complimentary focaccia and olive oil to start your meal. For an app, it was a must-have for us to get the gnocchi fritto - gnocchi pasta dumplings perfectly wrapped and fried in a golden, crispy, crust, paired with a delicious truffle cream sauce on the side. Each order of lasagna comes out in its own mini skillet, so you know they cook it fresh and to order. Came here for my nephew's bday and I'm SO HAPPY my sis picked this place! This place was SO GOOD and I can't wait to go back!! Unfortunately I wasn't as diligent taking food pics so I'm missing a few... I ate one slice with their delicious olive oil (should have taken a picture of what kind) until I realized on the main table there was also balsamic vinegar so of course I had to get another so I could dip with both! :) The lasagnas were huge, filling and delicious. I got the Italian sausage and was so busy taking pictures of everyone else's I forgot to take a pic of mine - but I will say it was so flavorful and not that spicy. BUT you needed to be careful because they do top with little red peppers so I took those off so it wouldn't be too spicy - just the right amount. Some folks had the bolognese - which they enjoyed - meaty and filling - comfort food - a typical lasagna. I was pleasantly surprised at the zucchini lasagna. We have been anticipating trying this restaurant for a long time, but it's a little bit of a drive for us. We came here on a Saturday night with our three young children (8y, 4y, 9mo) and the staff was very accommodating with a high chair, as well as very friendly while our baby was (loudly) enjoying the focaccia. The executive chef (introduced to us as Chef D.) was very welcoming to our family. We love hearing a little bit about the people behind the counter! We truly came here just for lasagna. We ordered one of each kind, except for the vegetarian lasagna. They were all stellar in flavor, and wonderful in texture. The pasta sheets were so fresh, and the flavor profiles of each one are so creative! The two stand-outs for us were the chicken vodka lasagna (the favorite of our chicken-nugget-obsessed 4yo), and the zucchini pesto lasagna. I would make the 45-minute drive out here just for that lasagna! It was wonderfully balanced and my baby ate about half of the serving! We also had the opportunity to try the tiramisu, which was so, so excellent. Some restaurants focus too much on having an aggressive, bitter espresso flavor, but this tiramisu was light and perfectly sweet. Both my daughters had never tried it before and they were huge fans. We tried the spicy sausage and chicken vodka lasagnas - both were good, well portioned for the price and we enjoyed the numerous layers! The chicken lasagna was a little drier than the spicy sausage but the vodka sauce was superb!! I wish I could build my own pasta with that vodka sauce - please offer this option!! There is complimentary foccacia but it was quite dry on this day - we needed the olive oil but we didn't have one on our table (we didn't ask as the restaurant was very busy and the service team was already hustling to keep up). The Negroni was excellent! Service was friendly - both hostess and our waitress. There was some confusion when we initially sat down, but it was worth the additional wait. We were offered some champagne or red or white wine while we were waiting the hostess and the manager were very gracious and accommodating. The food is absolutely delicious. Have you noticed how restaurants peddling absolutely average food now charge like high end, high quality restaurants. They have no qualms in serving a chicken pesto pasta for $22 that is objectively worse than what you'd find for $9 in the frozen aisle at Safeway. The ambience is great here but the food is pedestrian. And especially for the price, not worth bothering with. The service also leaves a lot to be desired. Always a fantastic experience ambiance a food-wise. Tonight, was sister night at Capri Lasagneria and we were lucky enough to snag the last table. The adorable Esra is so awesome and always makes eating here special. Two of us got chicken lasagne with vodka sauce and Ali got classic bolognese. Ou really cannot go wrong with any of their lasagne options. Although it is- heavy meal, please don't skip a tiramisu to share for the table. This sweet tiny neighborhood Italian spot has quickly become a go to favorite since they hosted a Yelp Elite Event soon after opening last year and I love interacting friends and family to my favorites! read more

One would think living in SF I'd have no problem finding an Italian restaurant. Yet, I drive to Burlingame to satisfy my craving for fantastic pesto pasta. Simply the best, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The restaurant itself is sorta small, so you may get seated outside, but the heat lamps and blankets...and more wine...will keep you warm. read more

The place was really cute. The focaccia was yummy and I enjoyed my misto salad but the bolognese lasagna was not good - like others have said, it was bland. There was no cheese or bechamel to speak of, mostly meat, and the noodles inside were mushy. We also had tiramisu- very good - but it was loud and hard to hear, and for $22 the lasagna was not worth it at all. The service was very good. Really too bad about the lasagna... We came in on a Saturday night during prime time for dinner. On our drive over, I saw that the Yelp waitlist's wait-time was quoted at 3-13 minutes, so I put ourselves on the waitlist when we were ~15 minutes away. When we arrived, the hostess let us know that we could be seated right away on outdoor tables, but there would be a wait of 45 minutes for indoor tables. Seeing that we were hesitant, she offered to seat us outside first, and move us indoors as soon as an indoor table opens up; we appreciated her thoughtfulness and flexibility. Shortly after, another party of four showed up; when the hostess quoted a 1-hour wait-time for indoor tables to them, this customer complained that the Yelp waitlist indicated a 2 minute wait-time and asked her to get that updated on Yelp. The manager came out and tried to de-escalate the situation by offering this customer and her party complimentary drinks. It just all seemed a bit ridiculous, given Yelp waitlist wait-times are not guaranteed, and the whole concept behind waitlist is to serve whoever's first on the list. I can't blame the manager for wanting to de-escalate the situation; at the same time, it didn't feel great to see bad behavior be rewarded. Pro-tip: If you are set to go to a place, even if the wait-time looks short, put yourself on the list! The outdoor tables were on the uneven pavement, and it was a cold evening, so we wanted to move indoors as soon as possible. When an indoor table opened up shortly after, we asked to be moved inside. The staff was hesitant, and looked as if they were going to seat the others first; we let them know that we were promised the first indoors table. Thankfully, the hostess helped sort it out, and got us moved inside. | Service | The good: All the staff at Capri Lasagneria were fast and pleasant. Food came out quickly. We were celebrating a birthday, and we appreciated that our server had comp-ed a dessert for the table, along with the celebratory candle and birthday song. The awkward: The space that Capri Lasagneria is not big, and they're very popular, hence I can imagine turnover is important to them. As a result, throughout the night, multiple staff stopped by and tried to move us along. At one point, two members of our party literally had a fork in their hands, about to put food into their mouths when a server came by and asked if we were done. | Food | Portions were generous with quality ingredients. I had the Spicy Sausage lasagna, and my hubby had the Bolognese lasagna; they were decent. Given the name to the restaurant having "lasagna" in its name, I expected more but perhaps that's a matter of preference. The noodles were a bit thick, and a bit overcooked, borderlinng mushy; I prefer mine thinner and more al dente. I'll have to go back to Che Fico for a re-do! read more

Capri Lasagneria made a striking impression based on service & ambiance. In early December, our server Ezra's friendliness & the restaurant's cozy Christmas vibes embraced us like a warm hug. We ordered their namesake dish in two varieties: Italian Sausage Lasagna ($22) & Bolognese Lasagna ($20), the better of the two. Although everything is made in-house, the taste did not translate to something exceptional. Generous meat portion in each square serving, but neither was well seasoned & the soft pasta sheets were overcooked. We were given a complimentary dessert, chocolate mousse, which turned out to be the most delicious component of our meal. The jazzy Italian soundtrack, played at a comfortable volume, & black & white beach scenes (I assume of Capri?) projected onto the wall were nice touches, but atmosphere, alone, isn't enough to get me back in. My experience with this restaurant group has been a mixed bag. Among other restaurants, Capri Lasagneria is related to Bottega in San Francisco, whose food I also found lackluster; however, their Mykonos Meze, also in Burlingame, is fantastic. read more

I tried the bolognese and i'd give it a solid 9/10. Im a fan of crispy edges on my lasagna and only got a little bit of that BUT the meat sauce on top was crazy good and the layers were perfectly cheesy. My partner got the Zucchini e Mais and she loved it because she's a zucchini head. For me it was like a 7.5/10 but i just really like meat. The gnocchi frites with the truffle sauce was so much better than i thought it would be. i would 100% recommend. The service was great. Our server was very helpful, attentive, and gave us a few laughs!! The only bad thing is that the place is really small but I will admit it does lend well to the ambience. They have a video of someone walking the streets of what I presume is Italy projected on the wall and it made the restaurant feel alive. read more
