From the moment we sat down in the bar area, Michael made us feel genuinely welcome. He was warm, personable, attentive, and had the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. He anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask, checked on us at just the right times, and made the entire evening feel relaxed and enjoyable. It's rare to come across someone who truly loves what they do, and it showed in every interaction. The food was outstanding! We enjoyed delicious martinis, amazing meatballs, freshly baked bread that was impossible to stop eating, and fantastic pizza. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What really made the evening memorable, though, was Michael. He elevated a great meal into an exceptional dining experience. His genuine hospitality, positive attitude, attention to detail, and engaging personality are exactly what every restaurant hopes to provide its guests. If you're dining at Michael Anthony's Market Cafe, ask to sit in Michael's section at the bar - you'll be glad you did. He's an absolute asset to the restaurant, and we'll definitely be whatback because of him. Five stars all the way!

Loved the Caesar salad with fried anchovies--yes, please! I loved my entree (the spaghetti with crab). My BIL's veal Milanese was very good, and the arancini I tasted from my sister's scallop special were fabulous. Would have liked the dish to come with larger bay scallops, though. My friend would have liked more of a thin crispy cutlet in her chicken parm but that's what she's used to. My panna cotta was lovely! No complimentary bread service here, and FYI, a simple side of pasta is $15. I've been told to make a rez and sit at the bar.

The food is pretty good, definitely not the absolute best Italian food I've ever had but it hit the spot. The seafood pasta came with cheese which would be a crime where I am from. They brought out water and we ordered a bottle of wine. They have a pretty good wine selection. We both decided to do the 3 course for $45. I ordered the Ceaser salad and hubby got the Al Dente Salad. Both were good and lettuce was fresh. I chose the Chicken Parm with Linguine. It was a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The breading was good & it was baked with cheese melted over top. I deducted 1 star because the sauce was a tad bit too salty for my preference, but overall it was good. I would consider ordering this again here. Hubs got the Lasagna Rollatini with Sunday Ragout. I thought it looked very good but I don't eat beef, so I didn't try it. Hubs thought it was good. For dessert I ordered the Lemon Marscapone cake, which was delicious. It had great flavor but was not overly sweet. The marscapone icing was light and creamy. I would definitely order that again. My hubby doesn't typically care for lemon desserts, but he tried a couple of bites and was impressed. Hubs ordered the Italian Cheesecake and it was delicious as well. We both enjoyed it. Our service was outstanding and the person who brought out the wine was fringe and helpful as well. Hubby typically likes bread with his meal but we didn't order any. Next time we will have to try it.

I am not sure if we just caught them on a bad night, but overall the food was "meh". We arrived around 6 and were seated immediately. We started with a bottle of wine and they brought bread and garlic butter. The bread was nice and crusty and garlic butter was very good. I ordered the pear & gargonzola salad, which is normally one of my favorites. Unfortunately the baby mixed greens were not very fresh, when I was about halfway through I noticed browned leaves on my plate, which was not very appealing. Hubby ordered a ceaser salad and his lettuce looked much fresher and more appetizing than my salad. My next disappointment was when I wanted to order the Rotola di Spinaci. Our server said it was not avaliable. :-( I was in the mood for something with red sauce and there really weren't many options that sounded appealing to me since I dont eat beef or pork. The only other option I saw was eggplant parm, so I ordered that. Unfortunately the eggplant parm fell short for me. The eggplant was bland and tasted unseasoned. The homemade marinara was a little disappointing as well in that it wasn't a rich flavorful sauce. I would definitely not order this dish again here. My hubby ordered one of the specials - some sort of chicken with broccoli & green beans and pasta with a creamy white sauce. Hubs was pleased with his meal. Overall, the service was good, but not outstanding. I told my hubby after we finished that they probably just don't specialize in southern Italian dishes (with red sauce) because so many of the menu options were creamy or cheesy or butter/white wine sauce. If we decide to give them another try, I'd definitely stick to one of the white sauce options.

The staff continues to impress--attentive, warm, and they actually remembered us, which made the experience feel even more special. We even saw the young gentleman from Croatia again who had taken care of us on a previous visit--he was just as pleasant and even stopped by our table to say hello, which was such a nice touch. We dined later in the evening this time, and it was really special to see the staff, managers, and I believe even the owner all still there together. It felt less like coworkers and more like a family--which says a lot about a place. Food-wise, everything held up to our first visit (which is rare!). I couldn't resist and ordered the beef bourguignon again--still absolutely incredible. We also had escargot (note: it comes with béchamel unless you ask otherwise), and that amazing cassoulet loaded with different meats from the evening--it was spectacular. Safe to say this place is officially our favorite on the island... and yes, I'm still tempted to keep it a secret .

Overall, the dishes were good except the spaghetti itself. It tasted chewy and gummy. The spaghetti texture is what ruined the two dishes (the veal dish & kid-sized meal). Our kid disliked the spaghetti and normally that's their favorite never-fail dish. The veal dish would've tasted more cohesive if the spaghetti texture was al dente as opposed to the gummy chewy texture. The halibut dish was delicious so no note on that. And so was the stuffed ravioli. Other than that, the restaurant ambience was nice and has an intimate settings throughout. The staff were friendly except that they could've refilled my ice tea sooner. I had to ask for a refill even though they had stopped by our table twice before that to check on us. We'd probably come back again next time we visit Hilton Heads but won't get anything with the spaghetti in it.
