I have no idea what happened to this place. I ordered five subs, and only one was good. The turkey sub was so dry I considered dunking in my beer... Plus, who doesn't put cheese on a turkey sub?? The Italian subs were subpar at best. From the time we ordered these "subs" and drove out on the beach, the sub rolls were soggy. The tomatoes were old, onions we're extra funky. I am a frequent customer at the Lewes location. I realize it is difficult during these times keeping good help especially during social distancing due to the virus. But for the second time this month I spent a half hour trying to call to place an order for pickup. The line was consistently busy. So I was forced to go inside and place my order and wait for it while others were crowded into the small space. When I commented to the cashier that I had tried calling ahead, he said they shut the phone down due to a staff shortage. How frustrating! Very disappointed to walk into Capriotti tonight to find 3 employees not wearing their face masks appropriately. 1 had it hanging on her chin and the other 2 had their nose exposed. I certainly understand that they are not very comfortable but if we have to wear a mask in order to go into the establishment I would like to see the same respect from the employees. Even though they are short staffed they were all so nice, back there hustling to get all orders out as fast as possible. First time trying this place and was super disappointed. I ordered a steak and cheese and it was sooo salty that they put on American yellow cheese. Who the hect puts on American cheese! Provalone should have gone on it. So I asked the cook what kind of cheese goes on a steak and cheese and he said "Provalone, but I did not make your sub." Didn't receive a call to learn that location was out of almost everything and there might be a problem; anticipated busy, but not to arrive and see a sign that they were out of rolls. Ordered a Bobbie as part of a larger order; didn't get the Bobbie (potentially because of supplies or because it was not made?). Appreciate the refund; would've really loved a call to say you were out of what we ordered so I could plan for my family and not drive the 45 minute round trip to your location. Definite downer. They advertise "order online and they will bring it out to the curb for pick up", but they don't answer the phone when you call to say you are there to pick up your order. The woman at the counter said "we do not pick up the phone when we are busy". So, don't count on curb service. The sandwiches were good. read more

Pretty good. Although I was interested in "the bobbie" I ordered and received a standard grilled cheese instead. Unfortunately, I have been suffering from an ulcer since early 2008 and can not handle cranberry sauce which I previously dearly loved. On a rainy day we took solace in large sandwiches, courtesy of Capriotti's. This place is tucked away on a small strip mall (opposite the delightfully named drugstore Happy Harry's [why's he so happy? Too many drugs]) and is really ideal for small groups (no more than four people) or take-out. We are a group of six and eating in the place kinda blew for us. But the sandwiches are great! Kids had grilled cheeses, one of us had a garden sub, and the other a medium cheesesteak. Everything was delicious, and *huge*. The "small" was long enough to weather-seal a door. We'll go back for take-out, I'd imagine. And we'll eat in once our kids learn to drive and pay for their own hotel. read more

Seriously delicious sandwiches! I went for the first time a few weeks ago and was excited to return for a second time after a weekend of camping. The first time I went I had the chicken cheesesteak sub and I ordered it again because it was just that delicious! I added hot onions and mushrooms - yum! Its served piping hot so be careful. Another thing thats great about the sandwhich is the bread. Its soft and fresh, unlike other places where the bread is dry or too crusty. Three of the six of us ordered the CCS and were super pleased. My other friend ordered the Bobbie aka 'best sandwich in America' but he wasn't too impressed. Its served room temperature and is a bit dry The sandwiches are 9", 12" or 20" - the 9" is just right! The drinks and chips are a bit expensive ($1.75) so the meal can get pricey quick, but I promise its worth every penny! read more

I'm being very generous in giving this sandwich shop three stars. Good quality food, ok taste, less than friendly staff. Their subs are ok to good- I purchased an Italian sub and was impressed with the freshness of the meats, bread, and extras on the sandwich. The taste as a whole was almost bland though: despite its name, this is not a true Italian eatery- it's just a chain with an Italian name to fool you, as the sub didn't come close to tasting like a real Italian sandwich. Additionally, the staff here are not very friendly- after purchasing the somewhat expensive 10" sub which costs over $10, I asked for a glass of (tap) water, and some ice for my wife and daughter who were waiting in the (hot) car outside. "You can purchase water in the case there" she said, pointing sternly at the refrigerated drinks container by the door. You don't have ice? I asked. "No." she said. Hmmmmmm..... In short, good quality & fresh ingredients (which I highly value), ok taste, staff who are neither friendly nor appreciative of their customers. Such a great staple near the 5 points shopping center! I always choose Capriotti's over the Wawa thats nearby because their quality in bread and meat can't be compared. Also, that Wawa parking lot is always a nightmare. Do yourself a favor and hop off route one a bit early and get your meal at Capriotti's, I promise you won't regret it. Overtime I've been in the staff have been great and the sandwiches are such good quality. Real roasted turkey and roast beef not the slimy deli slices!
