We were so disappointed. We made a reservation days before and we were super excited to experience this charming restaurant with great reviews. It was my husbands birthday and we wanted it to be special so we planned ahead. We are a mature couple expecting a mature experience. We were taken to a back room that was so deafening with small children tossing food, I felt like I was at a Dennys! We got up and asked what other options there were. We were offered the bar with a limited menu. And I mean limited!! We ended up having oysters, deviled eggs and splitting a burger. As mentioned in my previous review, this marked our second lunch visit to this restaurant. Joining us were two family members visiting from Virginia. After parking up the street via the ParkMobile app on my iPhone, we were seated inside at a four-person booth located directly across from the bar. To start, I ordered the Back Street Manhattan ($16), crafted with apricot-infused Rittenhouse rye, house sweet vermouth, Cocchi Americano, plus angostura and orange bitters, which was excellent. We also shared an appetizer of crispy calamari ($15), featuring Lewes Dairy buttermilk flash-fried calamari accompanied by house-pickled sweet banana peppers, marinara, and lemon. For my main dish, I had the Delaware lobster roll ($31). It came packed with butter- and mayo-dredged lobster knuckle and claw meat, lightly seasoned with lemon, celery salt, and parsley, all served on a toasted top-split bun alongside their signature boardwalk fries. Additional seasoned boardwalk fry options are offered for an extra charge. Our server, Eve M., provided outstanding service throughout the meal. Before tip, the total bill came to $164. I was very excited to try this place when I saw the reviews, but both food and service were pretty disappointing. First, we ordered the biscuits and wish we hadn't. They were dry and dense. They were also pretty dark in color. When I asked the waitress if they always came out kind of burnt, she got a little defensive and argued they weren't burnt. We also had the calamari, which was average. For my entree, I ordered the lobster ravioli, which was a very small plate. I think there were about 4-5 ravioli. Unfortunately, the taste profile of this dish fell flat because the sauce was bland and thin. (A cream sauce would have been much better.) My friend ordered the mussels and fries. Some of the mussels were oddly sticky and tacky, but at least the fries were pretty good. Lastly, I tried the malted ice cream pie, and it also did not deliver. If you are passing through like me, don't stop here. It's just not worth it. read more

I swore I came here years ago and left a review but maybe not... Anyways I came here for Friday lunch. I was sat in the back dining area at this round booth/table. I just wanted to get a sandwich and fries so I got the oyster po boy and it came with boardwalk fries ($15) Service was friendly and I was given a big jug of water for the table. I thought the sandwich was lackluster. Barely any fried oysters and it was a bunch of breading. The sandwich I thought needed more sauce. The boardwalk fries were nice and crispy atleast. I was able to get in and out and be on my way. Yay for efficient service! Maybe its what I ordered but willing to come back and try another menu item. read more

Initially, we didn't plan on getting the oysters but boy are we glad we did! The oysters here are superb!! We liked their oysters so much we almost got more at the end of our meal and we're not even big oysters fans, but this completely changed our mind. The spring dressed oysters were absolutely delicious. The flavors complimented the oysters very well. It was super fresh and brought out the sweetness of the oysters. It was really great for people who want to ease into oysters. The burger was pretty good. I thought the two patties were going to be fairly thin but I was completely wrong. The patties were quite thick which made the burger a little difficult to bite into but what a problem to have. It was yummy and juicy! The lobster roll was also very good. They definitely did not skimp out on the lobster meat. Despite being steeped in butter and mixed with mayo, it was not heavy at all. Being so close to the beach, there was a laid back vibe. What an amazing place!! It feels like a home when you walk in. Many rooms, bar areas and main seating area, and coat room. I really would have loved to try everything on the menu. The drinks and dessert were fabulous. I tried each of the 12 oysters offered, and they were so indescribably delish. Best of all our server Chelsea, so very nice, helped us navigate through this culinary experience and was spot on with all her recommendations. You should make Reservations and you must be done within 2 hours. Your server will help you keep with the time, which is very helpful. The prices are good and worth every penny. There used to be a restaurant called Jerry's that was at this location and unfortunately it closed a couple of years ago. I was curious what took over that property and saw it was an oyster house. I was craving seafood and this was just the right place to feed those cravings. The inside of the room was updated and looks much better than what it looked like under Jerry's. The menu is small but everything looked pretty good. They had a print out of all the oysters that have to offer, I think it was at least 8 different types, with a description of what they taste like. I would say their description was spot on. Half a dozen oysters were $18. I liked the mignonette that came with it in a dropper bottle. Very nice touch. I also got the jumbo shrimp cocktail and boardwalk fries. The shrimp were huge, like 2-3 bites worth and the cocktail sauce was perfectly balanced. I didn't care for the boardwalk fries, they were dry and the old bay & vinegar seasoning was good but hardly noticeable. Lastly, our server was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back here again! One last thing, I took a star off for the bartender with his hair tied back, who was singing along with the alt rock songs that were playing in the restaurant. Loudly. And for an excessively long time. It was so weird. He just kept singing for 2 songs. read more

My son had the Bee Sting along with a House Oyster Shooter. (both great) My wife had an Autumn Harvest Sangria (delicious). I had a Kőstritzer- Schwarzbier draft (great German beer, so glad they had this on tap) Me and my son split an order of Tavern Wings with Alabama sauce. For the entree's my wife a Salmon BLT. Wings, burgers and sandwiches, amazing desserts! Always gluten free options and they are VERY careful. I don't know what else you need. This is definitely a solid lunch spot and I'm sure the same can be said for dinner. The setup is great, the decor is lovely, and even when it's wildly busy you don't feel neglected. They've got it down to a science. Parking can be rough during the tourist season but remember they are open for most of the locals only season too. Prominently placed on 2nd street this is probably one of the best places to go for food in Lewes. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. The food is great. It is busy. Even on a Monday it is often packed with locals which is always a good thing. So make a reservation. It will help. The staff is really good about trying to fit you in but why wait when just a little planning will get you right in? The food whether getting the raw bar or cooked is great and the dessert known as 'boardwalk empire' is worth a visit all on its own. I will have one balk at the food. one particular dish "Buffalo soldiers" is oysters fried up and served with a sauce. Effectively boneless buffalo wings with oyster in place of chicken and it is very good. So why am I complaining here? because on the menu it's listed as NOLA- New Orleans style. It's BUFFALO oysters. Buffalo NEW YORK! not new orleans. More seriously the downside that stops this from being 5 stars are twofold. 1) the service is a bit slow. The staff are busy but there does seem to be a wait. I made a note of this last year and when I went back this year, it was still slow, so, not really fixed. 2) and far more seriously, the number of toilets, for this there are TWO. That's TWO toilets for EVERYONE. Men, women, staff and there seems to be invariably a line. So great food, fair pricing and if you make a reservation no needless wait but just be prepared for some waits once you're in. read more
