The food was great, service was quick and attentive. It's a bit pricey but I get it for seafood. Completely customizable so you can order exactly what you want. Overall great seafood boil. It's also a BYOB.

When I have that craving to throw on a bib, gloves and get down and dirty for some boiled seafood? Cracking and splashing gunk at the other guest? Yup it'll alwayssss be at Cap't Loui! Fish was crispy with a nice batter but not thicker than the fish itself which is great since you really get a lot of fish and not just batter. Cajun fries were nicely seasoned and crunchy. Fried shrimp was flavorful, does have the tails on. It's not for everyone but I love that crunch. I had the Mother's Day special which was a Whole Lobster, Snow Crab, Shrimp EZ Peel, Corn, Potato, Garlic Noodles And 2 Drinks for $111 YES!!!!! The lobster had all the yummy unhealthy guts and brains or poop or whatever it is in the head and I loved every piece of it! My group looked at me in disgust but screw them haha Oh and the tail was juicy and cooked perfectly! I've been to plenty of other seafood boil spots but here? It's just so cozy and the portions always seem so much more for pretty much the same price. Wish it was a tad closer to me cz I'm seriously debating to go again tomorrow for the Mother's Day deal and eat some more "guts" haha

This place is still the bees knees. I can't seem to get enough. Since my original review, I've tried some of the Lunch Specials. The Cajun Pasta was filling, but somehow spicier than the regular boil! I got "Medium" what I thought was going to be the same spice level as I'm used to, but my mouth was ON FIRE after a while. The waitress came up with the idea of adding butter (butter sauce?). It worked and I was able to enjoy the rest of my pasta. I also got a Lunch Special boil with head off shrimp and mussels. I got maybe five shrimp, like the bag looked sad by comparison to getting a full pound-o-seafood, but with the noodles, it was still satisfying. And finally I was able to get there on a Tuesday to enjoy the oyster special. I started with six, then had to commit to the full dozen. The oysters were fresh, and briny. I wanted more, but I'm sure one should only consume so many oysters in one sitting. Randomly, about the bathrooms, they offer cut lemons to get the seafood smell off your hands. In addition there's mouthwash, toothpaste and toothbrushes. All very considerate of their patrons possible particular needs!

Still the best pasta ever. I got the lunch special with shrimp and clams, and lemon pepper. Not that great, the sauce tasted kind of sweet. Get the Capt Loui sauce. Lunch with 6 shrimp and 6 clams was $19 and came with garlic noodles. The shrimp did not taste that good this time.

Awesome seafood boil! Oysters were on sale at $1 each and the best part is you can bring your own spirits to mix with their cocktails/special drinks!

This was our first time at Cap't Loui, and unfortunately the experience wasn't what we hoped for. The biggest issue was the lack of clear communication from our server about how the menu works. We didn't know that the side dishes (like potatoes, corn, or sausage) could be added into the seafood bag. On the menu, the sides are listed simply under "Side," with items like fries and noodles--nothing that indicates they can be included inside the boil. Because of this, we didn't think to order potatoes separately. Both the printed menu and the board said the seafood bags come with corn and potatoes, but what we actually received was just one corn and one potato--for four people, even though we ordered three pounds of seafood. Our server never mentioned that, and when the bag arrived it was literally just seafood in a small bag with nothing else. At that point, we had to place another order for potatoes, corn, and sausage just to make the meal feel complete. To be honest, a simple heads-up from the server--especially knowing we were first-time customers--would have completely changed our experience. Something like, "Just so you know, your order only comes with one corn and one potato. If you want more sides in the bag, you'll need to add them" would have made a huge difference. On top of that, when we were trying to understand the menu, the server seemed impatient and rushed us, which made the ordering process uncomfortable. Overall, the food itself was fine, but the service and lack of guidance really impacted our visit. With better communication and a little courtesy from the staff, this could have been a much better experience.

I heard a lot of great things about this place. I had a good dining experience, but I don't understand all the hype. Yes, the seafood was fresh and flavorful. But... it didn't wow me. It didn't stand out to me compared to the other boil restaurants I've been to; it wasn't any better and it wasn't any worse. We came as a walk-in on a Saturday around 6pm. The wait was 25 minutes and they called us over to a table in ample time. This place is BUSY and packed so be prepared to wait for a bit. They have your standard boiler menu which also included fried seafood baskets, po'boy sandwiches, and oysters. They also have great deals for lunch specials. Seafood prices are MP and are charged by every 1/2 a pound or 1 pound. You then choose your sauce (2 choices, either lemon pepper or cajun blend), spice level (mild to extra hot), and your sides. They have boil combos where the more seafood you add, the more free sides you get (2 lbs = 1 free side, 3 lbs = 2 free sides). There's a catch though... you have to order it in ONE bag, not separate. You can't have one person order 1lb in their bag and another person order 1 lb in theirs... kinda silly since you're still ordering the same amount, just in separate bags. We ordered: -1/2 bag of calamari + 1/2 bag of clams +sausage with lemon and pepper sauce(mild) -1/2 bag of mussels + 1/2 bag of shrimp (head off) with cajun blend(mild) and garlic noodles -Strawberry Lemonade Capri Sun -Pina Colada Capri Sun First, let me just say... the Capri Sun drinks are a MUST! They are huge and the photos don't do it justice. The pina colada was a dream. So creamy, smooth, and sweet. The strawberry lemonade tasted more like strawberry juice but it was tasty nonetheless. As for the boil, all of the seafood was fresh, hot, and steamy. My favorites were the shrimp and mussels with the cajun blend. It also came with potatoes and corn. The side of garlic noodles was delicious and I inhaled them within minutes. For 2 pounds of seafood, two sides, and two drinks, the bill was around $70 which is reasonable and fair. I would dine here again and try out their lunch specials...and of course, I'm gonna need a Capri Sun!

Delicious and very tasty seafood. If you're craving seafood, put Cap't Loui near the very, very, very top of your list. My wife and I had not had Cajun seafood/boil in a long time and we found Cap't Loui at the recommendation of our fellow Yelpers...and boy did they come through. We dropped by on a Monday afternoon (specifically, solar eclipse Monday in the continental U.S.) and, surprisingly, they were decently busy with 6-8 tables occupied. We didn't do any research ahead of time, so it took us a good minute to figure out what to eat because after 1 glance at the entire menu, we wanted to order EVERYTHING, but, unfortunately our wallets could not afford it :(. Since it was lunch time, we both ordered the very reasonably priced lunch specials ($10.95 - $12.95 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM Mon-Fri) and also went off-lunch special and supplemented our meal with some side orders. Here's a quick rundown of what we got: Lunch Special 1: Mussels, Crawfish with Cap't Loui Sauce and Garlic Noodles Lunch Special 2: Clams, Shrimp head on with Capt' Loui Sauce and Corn & Potato 1/2 lb of Snow Crab 1/2 Dozen Oysters $16.95 Lobster Roll with Cajun Fries 2 Cap't Risun Drinks To sum it up, all FANTASTIC. The Cap't Loui Sauce on the food was so flavorful and, if you love Cajun flavors, this is definitely a spot hitter. The seafood was very fresh. We loved the mussels, clams and shrimp. The crawfish was a bit lacking in meat, so we probably wouldn't order it again, but it was slathered in that sauce, which made eating it still enjoyable. One of orders came with garlic noodles, which was a MASSIVE side. It easily could have fed 2. We ordered it separate from the sauce, so we had the choice to taste it alone and then, if we wanted, we could dump it into the bag of sauce (which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing!) All of the other seafood was great too - the raw oysters, snow crab and lobster roll. We might have went a little overboard because we hadn't had cajun/seafood in so long, but, like I said - IT WAS DELICIOUS. And don't forget to order a Cap't Risun too (a play on Capri Suns, except they give you a much bigger bag to drink from). Overall, great spot, plenty of tables and, most importantly, amazing food!

I've been a loyal customer at Cap't Loui for nine years, but after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I ordered the Pick 3 Boil Combo for $98, only to receive just ONE CORN and ONE POTATO. When I called to ask about this, the employee kept repeating that inflation had affected how many sides they include in the bag. First of all, customers should be informed upfront so we can decide whether or not to place an order. Second, it makes absolutely no sense that whether you order a Pick 1, Pick 2, Pick 3, or Pick 4 Combo, you still only get ONE POTATO and ONE CORN--that's ridiculous. To make matters worse, the employee I spoke with was rude, unprofessional, and had no interest in customer satisfaction. I've never had an issue here until now, but unfortunately, this experience was disappointing enough for me to take my business elsewhere. Cap't Loui should be ashamed of themselves. WHAT A DISGRACE!

Whenever you go to a boil spot this is what you expect, unmistakably SEAFOOD. The Cajun flavor is spot on. The service is welcoming, friendly and accommodating plus adequately menu knowledgeable. They even assist you in choosing a boil to suit both your palate and appetite. Ambiance is straight forward BOIL SPOT and the seating arrangement is quite comfortable. Outdoor seating is not an option. This is your spot to go to and just GET CRABBIN. Yummy Tummy!

If you are looking for non-Asian food in the Fort Lee Main St area, then this is certainly one of the rare good options. It's a classic Cajun seafood boil place where you pick how much of each seafood item you want and they cook it and bring it to you all in one big plastic bag of goodness. We got the snow crab, mussels, shrimp, and calamari and they were all pretty fresh and tasty. The mussels in particular were larger than most I've seen. You can refer to my photo for the current market prices, which I think are reasonable. You can pick the sauce and spice level as well. I thought the lemon pepper sauce was just the right amount of flavor to elevate the seafood while keeping it fresh and not overpowering the taste. We also got sides of garlic noodles, sausages (which came with the seafood), and cole slaw. The sides were all kind of average in quality. The restaurant itself has a fairly large seating area and was pretty empty when we came for a Saturday lunch. They have a bunch of TVs on around in case you want a break from chowing down on your seafood. The place is clean and the bathrooms even have free mouthwash if your breath starts smelling too fishy. The staff are fairly friendly and the service speed is pretty quick. However, they didn't ask us if we were interested in any dessert and instead were a bit too quick to bring the check (without us asking for it). Overall though, I think Cap't Loui is a great option if you want something a bit different in Fort Lee and don't mind getting a little bit messy in order to enjoy some seafood.

Love the cute pouches, and we enjoyed our non-alcoholic drinks.

It was our 1st time trying this seafood boil in Fort Lee. It's a BYOB type of restaurant. The service is absolutely amazing, the food was heavenly, and the decor is very nice. The only issue we had were the tiny flies buzzing around the food. We will be back for more!

I went this place Friday night before long weekend. I'm not sure if it's because of that, we could easily find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Meter parking becomes free after 6pm on Fridays. This place is BYOB. I got a small bottle of prosecco at the liquor store 2minutes-walk from the restaurant. We ordered combos for 2: 2 pounds of shrimp (head on) in Louisiana sauce and lemongrass pepper fries. I think shrimps are a bit smaller than The Boil in the city, where I ate 2weeks ago. Other than that, everything including services and price were great. We will definitely come back to this restaurant to try other seafood. read more

Omg was I surprise of how good this place was. My husband ordered the pick four (2 snow crabs, shrimps and mussels) and got a free lobster; so worth it. I got the pick three (2 snow crabs and shrimps) and received the free mussels. Sooooo worth it. Usually in seafood boils the places are so cheap with their seafood, reasoning for me ordering this much food. You are totally good with One pick four. My husband and i literally are his pick four and took my pick three home and ate it the next day. So much finger linking food. Would most definitely back here again. read more

Hmmmmmmm not sure why all the hoopla over this place. Was excited to try since visiting from Cali and wanted a fun place with no frills(like Boiling Crab)... the food just wasn't good. The garlic noodles were very dry and sticky, the crab tasted old and the French fries were cold. Our waiter didn't seem interested in hearing my minimum request for some "hot" fries. The place was clean and service was quick but nothing else was worth it.. read more

Definitely get your bang for your buck here. Came with a group of 8. Got seated immediately. The service here is great. Also BYOB. Ordered the pick 4 combo which comes with free snow crab legs or lobster, you pick. The sauce is garlicky and S-P-I-C-Y. BUT it is really good. The seafood is fresh and really enjoyed the corn, sausage and potato that comes with each bag. The fish and chips and the fries were good but nothing special. My favorite was the garlic noodles. They are like the icing on top of the cake to a meal here. You can mix it with the sauce that comes with your seafood too. Would come back again. read more

Wow! Reasonably priced, succulent, and well-seasoned. My friends and I went to another Cajun spot in Virginia the day before during our road trip. We wanted to surprise our husbands and didn't realize that they had planned to take us to a Loui Loui the following day. You can never have too much of a good thing, though! Especially because Loui Loui surpassed the other spot in taste and price. There were more crab legs to go around (and juicier to boot) as well as mussels and garlic pasta to soak up all of the yummy sauce. Definitely recommend coming here with a group. They give you gloves and bibs for your convenience so if you're not into delicious messes you can still enjoy the experience. read more

Best "hole in the wall" seafood place! There is no designated parking lot so you will have to park on the street. Prepare to walk a few blocks depending on the time or day you go here. It's BYOB so bring your fav drink and they will supply plastic cups and ice. They cook their seafood in a bag that is cajun seasoned goodness. Bags include seafood (your choice- shrimp, snow or king crab legs, lobster or crawfish) along with potatoes and corn on the cob. Garlic noodles or french fries are sides. You can ask to have your garlic noodles placed in the bag- you won't regret. Beware, mild is pretty hot, hot is hot but extra hot is flaming hot! This is not your ordinary hot folks, this is Asian hot so choose wisely. I can do hot and medium was good for me. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly, polite and warm- all round good place. read more

I loveeeee this place!! I usually order takeout but decided to come in today with my boyfriend. As always, the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. I usually order the boiler combo which brings two pounds of your choice with corn and potatoes. Today, i got the snow crab and lobster with sausage as a free side and I LOVED IT! Solid Cajun food in NJ, but nothing compared to The Boil in LES. Recommend the Lemon Pepper base over the Louisiana. (It tasted most like the mixed sauce at The Boil). Definitely get two seafood options so you get the free garlic noodles!! read more

Stopped by on Easter weekend during dinner time and was seated right away. The restaurant seemed to get packed during rush hours in general from my past check-ins, but they usually have plenty of seats to cover your party, and a turn-around for a table is pretty quick. As for The Boiler menu, I am not a huge fan of crawfishes so I usually go with Mussels or Clams and Shrimp, but crawfishes weren't bad either when I tried. For a sauce I can recommend Louisiana as a starter with mild spiciness if you like spicy food but do not want to go too crazy. Sausages, Noodles, Corn, and Potato are all tasty! As of this writing, the place has some sort of a promotion where if you pick 2 from "Step 1" The Boiler will come with Noodles. Feel free to add some other things! (with extra charges of course) For a two people, 2 choices from the "Step 1" and one or two items from "Step 4" should be good enough of a portion for most. Enjoy! read more

I ordered the Pick 2 combo, of crawfish and shrimp. The sauce is delicious, but a tad salty? I wanted lemon pepper but the place had ran out so I chose Louisiana sauce instead. The crawfish tasted of pure salt. I'm guessing they use the frozen kind. Everything else tasted pretty good for the matter. I kind of wish there was more corn or potato with these bags. It's not a lot of seafood, so extra starch would have at least filled us up. I shared the pick 2, but I think it's best left just for one person. read more

My family and I go to this location often. The waiters are quick, friendly and attentive. The menu is short and simple. The food is delicious. Comes highly recommend. Although, be prepared to spend some money, this isn't red lobster. read more

Love this place. We have take out a few times during Covid. My children love the boiling pot lemon pepper and butter sauce. Their Lousianna sauce is very thick and yummy. I kept ordering medium spicy but for some reason is not that spicy. Try to have the spaghetti sides as its good when you mix it with the sauce. Sometimes I boiled more corn at home to mix them in with the sauce. It's better to eat this at home instead of in the restaurant. The take out comes with paper plates and plastic Bibs. read more

Came kinda late on a weeknight. Place was empty and we were happy just to find somewhere open a little later. I'm a huge fan of The Boil in nyc and was obviously excited to see this place open in nj. It is a similar set up, you choose the seafood you want, the sauce, and the spice level. It all comes in a seafood bag and you dig in! Pros: seafood bag is sort of awesome no matter how you cut it. Open late-ish. Fast pleasant service. Cons: sauce is a bit oily for my taste. How are the prices here are as much or even more than The Boil in nyc? It's not that it's not worth it, I would just expect it to be cheaper here.. Will probably come back when seafood bag craving hits and certainly have no complaints about my experience here. Wish price reflected its nj location but nbd. Hopefully sauce is less oily next time. read more

This place is all about the sauce. I got the medium Louisiana and it was spicy but great . The shrimp were real good (head off,but you need to peel). The clams were good as well, but the king crab was a rip off. Less than a pound and $45. Crawfish ( no live available ) were small and tasteless. Mussels were ok. Most likely frozen. Corn, potato were also great. We added noodles in the bag and they were awesome in the sauce. This is the first review of 3 stars that I would return here. It's a byob so we brought a six pack and they gave us a bucket of ice. Cold beer, shrimp, clams and noodles next time only, and the sauce that was sooo good I scooped it up with a garlic filled clam shell and drank it like a soup . read more

The fried foods were delicious. Caprisuns also good. We got two boils. One boil with king crab legs and lobster the other shrimp and crab. Lemon pepper seasoning and Cajun both delicious. Crab and shrimp was phenomenal, but the lobster was just okay. I expected better taste from the lobster. Garlic noodles were so delicious. Service was excellent and speedy. Everyone was very friendly. Price was reasonable and food tasted good. Parking a little difficult in the area, but this place is worth it. read more

I Love this place!!! I've been coming here for the past couple of years and can honestly say that I haven't had a bad meal here!!! The staff is very friendly and always remember you. Seriously a GREAT place for seafood. We got the boiler with clams, shrimp, and crawfish. It came with free mussels since we ordered three items! With a side order of fries, it was a perfect meal for three. Make sure to dip everything (including the fries) back into the Louisiana sauce! All that together for less than $20/person, a seriously great meal. I didn't get it this time, but last time I ordered a side of noodles after finishing the seafood to have a Louisiana styled pasta and it was amazing. Highly highly recommended. read more

Went here on a Friday after work around 6 and the place wasn't very busy. Got seated right away. Our server was very helpful in helping us choose our seafood. Hubby and I chose the "pick 2" seafood option with snow crab legs and mussels plus free garlic noodles. We also chose the half dozen oysters. We chose the "extra spicy" level Louisiana sauce. I was afraid it would be too spicy but we felt it was the perfect amount of spice. The oysters were fresh and tasty. When our bag of seafood came I was a little skeptical of whether it was enough for us but with the noods and corn and potatoes we were so full. I took the advice of other reviewers and mixed the garlic noodles in sauce in the bag at the end and it was so damn delicious. We will be back! read more

This place was awesome! Friendly service and delicious food. My friend and I went because we happen to be in the area and I found it on Yelp. When we got there we realized it was BYOB, so we asked if we could run to the liquor store 5 min away and they said no problem and held our table. My friend and I ordered the seafood boil (mussels and shrimp) medium spicy. Just know that medium is very spicy. The food was absolutely delicious! Very tasty and not at all expensive. I did not expect great things from a Cajun/creole style restaurant in fort Lee so it was a surprise when I left the restaurant wanting to go back the next day. The atmosphere was perfect for what it was...white paper covering the table, plastic cups for our wine (byob). There were four of us and we ordered one bag with mussels, clams, shrimp and crawdads. I've celebrated my birthday in a casual way with my friends at Cap't Loui twice and always enjoyed the food. I am a big seafood lover and have tried seafood boils a number of places and Cap't Loui's is a local favorite. The Louisiana Hot and garlic noodles are my go to with lobster mussels and shrimp. Yesterday (04/28) I called in for their lunch special and the portion size had changed drastically from the last time (maybe a month ago). I got about 5 mussels and 4 shrimp very little compared to the portions I've come to know. Not sure if this was a 1 time occurrence but I was a little disappointed i once I got back home. Other than that recent flop the servers are always nice, the place is nice (they are renovating!) there is street parking and the food is delicious! read more

Saw plenty of parents with strollers, elderly people, and everyone in between like my group. It's pretty good vibes. Big portions, great food, good people, good vibes! Our family decided to try this establishment during it's grand opening. For the most part, the staff were good until our food came. We ordered the lobster special in their Louisiana sauce as well as the snow crab in their garlic butter sauce. For starters, we had their wings and clam chowder. The lobster itself was good but the sauce was quite oily. Not what the wife was expecting based on the description but now she knows. I had the snow crab and after I opened the bag and started to dig in, I noticed that out of the two halves of snow crab, there was not a single claw?!? For most people, the claw is the best part and this is the first time I have had snow crab at a seafood boil place that did not have a claw in the order. I asked our server, who ask another server/manager/supervisor, how come the order did not come with a single snow crab claw? The response I received was that the order goes by weight and that there may or may not be a claw in the order. Really? I would think it would be common sense for whomever is making the order to check and notice that both halves were missing the claw and to replace one half with one that had a claw... They totally gave me the wrong answer. Had they said they were sorry and that it was something they overlooked, I would have been like okay, at least they realize that the order should have come with a claw. Their answer was basically, too bad, if you get lucky, you may get a claw. This was totally not what I was expecting from a restaurant during their grand opening and also a chain. I would imagine they would try to see the concern from the customer's perspective and try to improve but that was not the impression that I received. Needless to say, the garlic and butter sauce was incredibly oily but had a decent flavor to it. I gave one extra star for the clam chowder which my children enjoyed. The decor is what you would expect from a seafood boil place. Simple tables with paper tops to be able to easily clean. Some flat screens hanging on the walls for entertainment. Nothing special, pretty normal for this type of establishment. Would not come back until something changes. Rather either go to the city or down the block for a seafood boil in the future. I'm a huge fan of The Boil in nyc and was obviously excited to see this place open in nj. It is a similar set up, you choose the seafood you want, the sauce, and the spice level. It all comes in a seafood bag and you dig in! My favorite was the garlic noodles. They are like the icing on top of the cake to a meal here. Came for lunch on Tuesday. Server told me every Tuesdays, restaurant has promotion for $1 oyster all day. I ordered 1 set of lunch special (2 seafood + 1 side + soda) it was perfectly right amount for lunch meal and decent price $12.95 or $12.99 (can't remember exactly) and 6 oysters. Antonio served us and he was fantastic, very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. 2nd time here and we love the new England clam chowder, ugly crab and mussels in lemon pepper, garlic noodles, and funnel cake with ice cream.
