Been wanting to try this for awhile. Staff is nice and attentive and the food came out fast. The fried catfish was super fresh and cooked perfectly and my wife enjoyed the crab legs. Overall, it was about as good of fried seafood that you could expect in the valley, while just not at the level of something you would get on the coast. Great for a date night as these two entrees and two beers plus tip were only $60. I have spent that much on breakfast recently. read more

Our 10 year old wanted seafood boil so we came to Captain Crab. We ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings for an appetizer. Had a great time at Cap'n (haha I know it's Captain, but isn't Cap'n more fun??) Crab on a Thursday night in March. No wait to be seated. Pretty big space! They had everyone seated on one section of the dining area-very efficient. Our waiter was fast and friendly. We enjoyed water and a pacifico. They had a pretty good selection of beers and a few wines to choose from. This was my first time at any seafood boil place. The bucket of utensils, gloves, and bibs was fun and useful! We started off with the popcorn shrimp--very juicy and flavorful! We got 1/2 lb of crab legs to share and it was delicious and the perfect amount. I think next time I would order another half pound of shrimp or maybe some bread to go with it. Love the cute decor. Would definitely go back! 02/01/25- We went to the Captain Crab in Clovis,CA. For their 2nd Anniversary serving the Clovis community. We got there about 1pm .Wasn't much of a line but lots of people were inside already. There was a hour 1/2 minutes wait. But we decided to wait and eat in for special celebration. They were also taken to go order and the line started to pick up. The host, Elmer was Awsome! He keep moving people and try to seat them within 45min wait. He clear tables and and even took to go orders until he got help. I was very impressed by the way he worked. We finally got seated about 2:30p (1hr 30min) like Elmer had said. We had also had an awesome waiter named, Mitchell. He always check on us make sure we are doing fine. His service was excellent also. I highly recommend this place. My friends couldn't finish their bag of seafood took it to go. I eat all mine and order another bag of seafood and took it home. Grand opening on this new gem in Clovis, really enjoyed my seafood lunch! There are a couple non seafood items but the seafood options are endless... boiled & fried. I had the lunch catfish basket with Cajun fries, my dad had the fried shrimp basket with crispy sweet potato fries and my mom had the chicken tenders basket with onion rings. All hot and crispy!! Went a while back, but never reviewed this place. Love that they have an outdoor seating area. Very nice since it faces into the shopping center's plaza. Good ambiance. Annoying though because shopping center has loudass music & they also had music playing. Not the same music so it was a cacophony of different songs. Not fun! Food was decent overall. My wife suggested we try to eat at this business establishment, since it would be her second time eating here. However it'll be my first time stopping by here to dine in for some seafood boil. Guess this business is fairly new to this area in Clovis. Upon arriving to the establishment, we were greeted by friendly patrons and right away we were seated. Didn't have to wait since we showed up around 2pm for lunch specials. We were ready to eat so we started by ordering appetizers and the main course. For appetizers my wife requested crab cakes which comes with two crab cakes patties and a side of their dipping sauce. Next she ordered Cajun chicken wings which comes with a basket of Cajun fries and ranch dipping sauces and celery sticks. Finally she order two pounds of shrimps with head on with the Captain Special seasoning with medium spice level. Everything all came out to our table at one time. Oh yeah I got a side of steam white rice to eat my shrimps with. FYI... The Shrimp Seafood Boil also includes two corn on the Cobb and potatoes. I would say the seafood boil is comparable to "Kicking Crab" in San Jose. I actually like the flavor, seasoning and spices they had in our seafood boil. Great to know we didn't have to drive 3 hours away just to get our fix for seafood boil. We would definitely stop by this location again to order take outs or dine in. I recommend for anyone who likes and crave seafood boil, to give this business a try. I think we spent $75 total for everything including tips. Horrible.!!!! Really wanted some good food but never did . Very rude girls and staff . Called asked if they were open and rudely replied yes but we stop serving or taking orders at 9.30 it was 8.15 . They had all the lights off on Shaw side . Went in 5 minutes later . Gal seats a couple in front of us then goes and starts talking to her co-workers for 5 minutes while we are just waiting us out . She knew we were waiting to be seated. Made eye contact multiple times but never came over . Place was filthy. Dirty tables all over with no people at them . Was kinda busy . STAY AWAY!! FOOD POISOING! I started coming down with my symptoms about an hour after sharing a bag of the "Kings Feast" with my wife yesterday 3/22/25. My wife's symptoms set in about an hour or two after mine. And it has been all downhill since then. Easily one of the most miserable experiences I've encountered in a very long time. Kind of funny (but not funny), my wife said, "I would rather go through childbirth again than go through this again." So remember that before you dine here at the Captain Crab! I should mention this seafood was the only thing we ate all day... and we've been so sick we've both lost at least 5 lbs overnight... Now its about 22 hours later and I am starting to feel a bit better.. So I called to alert the restaurant at noon (one hour after they opened) today 3/23/25... because I know that we can't be the only ones who got exposed.. but the manager "Joe Joe" (I believe) told me that "seafood is hard on people's stomachs and isn't for everyone"... LIKE WE HAVENT HAD IT BEFORE... I couldn't believe it. He didn't even say that they would investigate the kitchen. He didn't offer a refund.. Nothing. Basically we got the "sorry we got you sick, but there's nothing we can do for you." So ya, the service and experience at the restaurant was great. I really enjoyed the server and the environment... But dine at your own risk!!! And don't expect any help from Captain Crab if they destroy your gut for a day or two! read more

It's not bad but not really what I expected. It was salty and not really Cajun seafood boil. Saw this place before they opened a few weeks back and was in the area for lunch and was just excited to give them a try. Party of 2.5 my husband and I was greeted as we entered. This resturant had an open large dining area with plenty of seating. It was open, spacious and clean. With beautiful interior design. There was also a bar to the left of the entrance. We were seated given a menu and our server came and greeted us right away. Took our drink orders and gave us time to look over the menu. We came right on time for their lunch special (Mon-Fri 11am-3pm). We ordered from their boiling lunch 3/4 lbs shrimp and 3/4 lbs of green mussels captain special mild, one fried oyster basket, one catfish basket and once chicken tender basket which all came with fries and we ordered one of each; regular, sweet potatoes and Cajun. Our orders came out fast and it was all fresh and hot. The seafood boil was delicious and came with 2 potatoes and 2 corns. Seafood tasted fresh and the captain special seasoning was very good the corn was sweet and the potatoes cooked perfectly. I've never had fried oysters and it was actually really good. Nice crunch to all of our fried food. The chicken was tender. The fries were all perfectly fried. The sweet potatoes waffle fries were my favorite one of the best I've ever had love the crunchiness goodness of the outside and how the potato just melted with each bite. They also provided us with a variety of sauces for our fried food baskets. Overall we had a great experience. The food was good and very affordable our server was very attentive and nice.
