The kids favorite place on the lake. They have a sandy beach and shallow water for you/them to play in while you wait to get seated. They also have a full service bar on the beach if you don't want to eat. Generally good times had by all. Come by boat or land and bring sunscreen and your swimsuit. Fun atmosphere with good food and drinks! This place is a must go too for anyone visiting the ozarks! There is a lakeside small beach for kids and adults ! The outdoor seating area with bar is a good size ! The patio on the lake is fantastic! My gf and I sat in the patio area and loved our time here. We both ordered the special feature of the night which was the grouper dinner for 14 bucks. We had the fish grilled! The seasoning on the fish was a bit spicy but delicious ! The fish was moist and well prepared. The fish came on a bed of rice with your choice of side and salad. They have a good French dressing ! My gf got french fries and I had rice and beans. The fries are just ok and the rice and beans are tasty. We both had a blueberry mixed drink on special for 5 bucks! It tasted like a jolly rancher and was delicious ! Terrible food.8 people and only thing that was ok was a plain salad(although it wasn't crisp n cold) and the sweet potato fries. Waitress was attentive. Drinks delish. Tables were sticky. They serve pitchers of water with the water cups thrown right into the pitcher, odd and seems unsanitary. We've been goin to Capt Rons from day one and witnessed their impressive growth over the years. We've always enjoyed the environment there and the food was always okay. The one "go to" over the years was their snow crab legs and a key reason my wife always talked me into going for dinner. In general, over the past few years, we've seen a definite decline in the food quality coupled with higher pricing so we've been going less and less however tonite, my wife talked me into going over for the boat show and dinner. First, they were server short-handed and our server was running his ass off so it was somewhat understandable that he forgot much of our food. I had to ask him for our salad which we got after we were halfway through our entree, then we never received our baked potato so I just told him to keep it. He did offer to put it in a doggie bag! Anyway, the crab leg entree has declined significantly in quality and definitely not worth the $30 price tag, with or without the side & salad! The worse part is that after paying "full price" for this meal and mentioning our displeasure w the crab to our server, he AGREED with us that the quality has declined and they've had a lot of turnover with the cooks, etc. WTF? Bottomline... After living here for over 30 years, it seems to me that Capt Rons has finally succumbed to the same ole lake restaurant mantra... "Average food w average service is enough". And honestly... average service is even a stretch based on my last few visits. It's a shame. I'd suggest to stop offering the full entrees like a full service restaurant does and simply offer the the sandwiches that most other lake places offer. Maybe that'll help simplify things for your servers and allow you to focus more on food quality. Just my two cents... read more

I've been to Cap't Ron's several times, since I stay in that area when I hit up The Lake. Cool vibe, with tons of lounge chairs along the sand and beach volleyball. I've only had drinks here, which can vary wildly - from ultra strong to weak as hell... It seems that just about every restaurant on the lake has the same basic, greasy food. Don't get me wrong, I love a hot basket of fries or potato skins, but bring something unique to it. What you are really paying for here is the beach and atmosphere. It can be an all day affair with kids and adults. They have very clean and safe docks and on a weekend, you may have to wait a little bit to get one. The beach can get packed and not necessarily the restaurants fault, but rude people leave their trash laying on the beach. I was there over the July 4th weekend and I only saw an employee walk along the beach picking up dishes and bottles once. Perhaps this weekend made me a little jaded about this place because of the drunk crowds, trash and smokers flicking their cigarette butts in the sand and water. The food is just okay, again it tastes like a lot of food on the lake. The problem with a lot of these restaurants is that they are getting soooo expensive. We had two rum runners, two beers, nachos, grouper fingers and two kids meals and it was $86 after tip. Our two rum runners were $20 alone, now I did get the "floater." so that added to it. This place is not the only expensive place on the lake, so I'm fair in my reviews of lake restaurants in pointing that out. I really enjoy travelling by boat to lake side restaurants and I will continue to do so, but I don't think I can afford to hang out for hours like I used to. read more

I am a first timer here and I LOVED IT! The environment here is awesome. There is a beach, a bar, and a restaurant. How can you not love drinking, snacking, and taking a dip on a hot day all in one place? Mind blown. I love the fact that it feels like a vacation spot while being in Missouri. I went to school in a small town and being at this place reminded me of being up at college. The staff is very personable and are great at what they do. They did very well on suggesting drinks and their top picks on food. I enjoyed the Davy Jones style Nachos. This consisted of cheese, lobster, cheese, shrimp, cheese, sour cream and salsa. Yes I put cheese 3 times cause it is loaded with it and I wasn't even mad about it! I also had a Long Island and a Rum Runner (slushy style) and it was made to perfection. My only downfall are the prices. It's pretty pricey but totally understandable because of it being a seasonal place. The next time I go to the Ozarks, I will be back for more! read more

Captain Ron's used to be, hands down, our favorite spot on the lake. However, it has just continued to go downhill as the years have gone on. The food isn't as good, but more than anything, the volleyball courts are trash now. You can't even play an actual game on the courts anymore, which is one of our favorite things to do when we come here. The nets are extremely low and the boundary lines of the court are nonexistent now. After this weekend, we will not be coming back unless we get word that the volleyball courts have been fixed. read more

The best part of this joint is the beach and outside seating area. It's pretty chill and reminds me a bit of beach restaurants in Florida, only done with Missouri flare. All the food is placed on outside friendly dinnerware so you can "carry out" to the beach and sand volleyball. The food is fair. We got a pizza and nachos. The nachos would have benefited from thicker chips and the pizza was very undercooked. It still tasted good and was reasonably priced. The pirate theme brought it all together. Arrgh! I have eaten at Capt Ron's many times. This last visit was five stars but once in a great while they don't live up to my expectations of food or service. So, over the course of many meals and many visits they rate a four. I love the location on the water and with the large beach. ( a rarity at the lake). The decor inside is like a square masted sailing ship of days of yore. This visit we started off with a perennial fav - Carp Lips ( actually what they call their onion rings ). Large and battered beautifully. Crunchy but not crumbly. Not greasy either. We each ordered tacos. One order of Lobster (fried) and one of shrimp (grilled) Both were excellent. read more

I love captain rons. We have been coming here for years and it is still our favorite place on the lake. It isn't perfect all the time but 9 times out of 10 they hit it out of the park. We have rented from them 3 times and love the location of the rentals to the restaurant. This place is kid friendly--much much better than coconuts. read more

We came on a Sunday morning where brunch seemed to be the thing to do. We opted out and took lunch menus. My mother got the Grouper strips and side of fries. Fish was 75%batter and 25%fish. Fries were cold, like really cold. The prices for beer are a bit outrageous ($5.75 for a bottle of Bud Light).
