One star for the delicious drinks provided by the outdoor staff. If you go here I recommend the dirty banana or a local beer. That being said the prices are a few dollars higher than most of the places on the lake for both food and drinks. So losing stars on price point. Also losing stars on food, average to bad. Most other places around the lake are very very good which is why this surprised me so much. I have eaten here at least 7 times as it is very close to where I live. Considering their location is so ideal perhaps they've decided they can set any price and do not care about the quality of food‍ as they'll make good money either way. read more

Very disappointed with this establishment. To say it was a semi pleasurable experience would be an understatement. We came in with a party of 8. All of us are very laid back and didn't have high expectations coming in. I ordered a steak - medium rare. But honestly I'm not massively picky about how it is cooked. When it arrived it was very very very well done, I did try to eat it but with how tough it was for my teeth I just couldn't chew it. After I asked for it to be remade, they brought me another steak that was basically butterflied. They had hardly seared the steak on both sides, and put it on the table. At this point, I'm absolutely disgusted. Everyone else has finished their food. They brought back another steak in a to go box as we were trying to leave. We received our bill, had gotten charged in full for the steak. At this point I'm just mad and want to leave. We got up and left. As I stood outside I realized I had left my steak on the table. We had only been gone about 3 minutes so I went back in and got told they threw it away. The professionalism of this establishment is terrible. We have been coming here for 15 years and I have never had an experience like this. We will no longer be recommending this restaurant to any tourists or friends. read more

I ordered a Ribeye Steak medium well and specified it be "melt in your mouth" tender... what I got was a charbroiled piece of meat I couldn't even cut with a knife. Never Again!!! OMG. I never expected it but I was eating our appetizer and went into labor. Not only did our server, China Anderson, get our food to the table quickly, hot and exactly as we ordered, but she also helped deliver my twins and dock our boat. My group showed up at 12:30 am for enjoy some drinks and food to finish out our vacation. The website showed that the restaurant closed at 2:00 am. When we got there, everyone ignored us until we finally found someone outside. He was rude and commented, "Doesn't it look like we are closed," when we asked if they were still open. Very rude staff. They either need to update the hours online or the staff choose to close early? Either way, we know we will never return. read more

Visited this place mid-week for dinner with a party of 10 (5 adults/5 kids). The customer service was unacceptable. We waited over an hour for food. We ordered 2 dozen raw oysters which were served with only Tabasco and lemon. When we asked for saltine crackers, cocktail sauce and horseradish, the waitress returned with a ranch dressing mixture and club crackers. She told us they had no cocktail sauce (and the place serves seafood). We had to ask for our salads and then finally got our food. The restaurant was not crowded at all. There was plenty of wait staff and they all seemed to be able to do their jobs with the exception of our waitress. The bill for our food/drinks was over $400 and 20% gratuity was already included due to a large party (half of which were children). We determined that maybe the waitress cared less because her tip was guaranteed. We don't mind spending on a good meal and good service, but this place is over priced for what they offer. Customer service goes a long way when the food is that poor. We will not return to this restaurant. read more

Had a great night out with friends during our first time visiting Captain Ron's. Our experience was enhanced by the warm, friendly, and stellar service of Kenzie (server) Everybody knows my common law wife is extremely high maintenance, but Kenzie was able to achieve the impossible and get a thumbs up from her for the outstanding service provided. My fav drink was the "Pain in the Ass" (I may have had more than one ;) On a side note, this was a special vacation for our group as this is the weekend my friend was to propose to his girlfriend. This was a challenge for him, particularly due to the fact that his girlfriend is from Russia, and speaks/comprehends little English. When I mentioned this to Kenzie, she said "No Worries. And asked my friend exactly what words he intended to use in his proposal. My buddy relayed in English to Kenzie precisely the 5 minutes long speech he had hoped to give as part of his proposal, once he mastered the Russian language after taking another year or two of lessons. To our shock and dismay Kenzie began acting as interpreter, translating his words to his future bride to be in fluent and perfect Russian! Who would have known?! (She said "yes" btw ;) Bravo Kenzie! We have been coming here for years. It is overpriced and the food is mediocre at best, but It i btw, we would have left but it was Sunday night at 7:30 and there were no other nearby dining options!s a fun place and the kids love it.We waited 20 minutes before someone showed up to take our drink order, 15 more minutes for our drinks to arrive. My husband had the steak and baked potato.' The potato should have never left the kitchen with a big black rotten spit in the middle. 15 minutes later, he got another potato and his steak was now cold. I had to go to the bar to get a second drink because the waitress was just standing around chatting. I had to got get her, she was standing at the bar chatting, to get our check. I went up and tipped the bartender and told him that in my whole life i have never stiffed a waitress ,but tonight was a first. He wanted to know what hsppened and I explained and he wanted to make it right, but i told him we dd not want anything. We just won't be back. There us a clear lack of training and no management presence. Btw no social distancing or disinfecting going on here and not a face mask in sight!!! read more

Awful. This is my second time coming here and it was terrible. We waited for over an hour for 2 people to get a table. During that time we sat at one of the outdoor bars. We waited 25 minutes to get a drink. Once we got a table, we waited for over 15 minutes for a server. Our server never came. The 8 person table next to us was there way before we sat down and didn't even have drinks yet. We just left without getting any service. Staff your restaurant appropriately!!!! read more

Maybe they forgot how to cook and serve after shutdown. Was there with family including kids to hang on beach and restaurant Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. A party of about 10, including 3 hungry kids, were seated. About half hour later 2 adults were served their meal. Then about another 45 minutes later the rest of the table was served and two orders were wrong. Order of seafood nachos was totally soggy and goopy and we threw it away along with two other horrible plates. Not one word of apology from staff and the manager did NOT come out and apologize. I've been here many times over the last few years. In fact I'm sitting under the tent near the outdoor bar right now. The food is generally fine. Often a little greasy as they haven't perfected the deep fryer like the Potted Steer had. Problem with Captain Ron's is the service. Waiters have no clue how to properly wait tables. It gets so bad the it is really irritating. The owner has so many other businesses going that he neglects this place (at least two other restaurants and a property management company). He like many others in the restaurant business think they can just increase their income by opening anothe location without properly preparing their current restaurant to run without as much of their personal attention. Until the owner figures out how to manage multiple locations Captain Ron's is a place best avoided. read more

Awesome beach kids will love. Great drinks and beach volleyball. All that is free other than the drinks which are very good and reasonable priced. we have tried multiple times to eat there so we are not just using them. The food when fresh is great. Problem is that almost every time we eat there food is cold, takes forever to get out. Fastest service I've had is 45 min from order to food. Worst? 1 and 1/2 hrs. The place looked great. The staff was friendly. The burger was good and the beer was cold. That makes this place awesome. And the they have PWC boat slips that you drive you ski up onto. Definitely a place that I recommend and I would like to go back to when I'm in town. read more

The food is great, we come here almost every time we come to the lake which is pretty often. We usually get the blackened grouper tacos or the buffalo chicken wrap, both delish. My son loves coming here because of the bounce house and the beach, that being said there are several things that could be improved upon. For one, they never have the cardinal game outside in the deck. That really bothers the hubby. Second, they quit giving out Frisbees and or buckets with the kids meal. That upsets the kiddo. During the summer, you wait for ever for your food. Something needs to be done about that. Since they bill themselves as a kid friendly place, they should recognize that people with kids cannot wait that long for food. An inevitable meltdown is sure to occur and that's good for no one. They should have servers that wait on you for drinks on the beach, they would make so much more money. read more

Captain Ron's food is consistently good. Their workers are very good at their jobs and friendly. The drinks are not always consistent -- depends on who's bartending that night. 2 out of the 3 nights we were there the drinks were good. Hey Captain Ron's don't seat people who, because they don't want to be jerks, immediately ask if your kitchen is still open at 8:59pm, tell them yes you can still get food and then go out of your way to ignore them. Looks like Caption Ron's could be alot of fun in the summer. Wrong time of year to go but got something to eat. We had the shrimp special all you can eat for 15.00 It was boiled with a bit of cajun seasoning. The waiter was very nice and very good. The shrimp was good but to much of it is to much. No one there when we got there but loaded up fast. Prices seemed very good. Would go back. Seen alot of things on the menu to order. My family (all 12 of us, age range of 1-70) had dinner here. The atmosphere was great for the whole family-- we had a lot of fun-- but the food was only so-so. I had the crab crusted fish, which was way too heavy on the creamy crab sauce and masked the really yummy grilled fish. No one seemed to be thrilled with their entrees, but they weren't too bad. The worst service I've had in forever. We had a large party and we came in a great mood. To make a long story short: I really wanted to like this place. The worst part was the double standard. The minority members of our party did not get what they ordered. Even after we tried to get it fixed the servers would not fix it. The rest of us got our orders no problem. Lots of empty tables but we think they are going to seat people. Forty-five minutes later the tables are still empty. My spouse goes to the hostess to inquire about our wait time. She says she's was just going to page us. She seats us. A waitress finally takes our order. We wait and wait and wait. A table of guys come in about 15 minutes after we are seated. She waits on them. Neat little beach and swimming area with plenty of seating and space so it doesn't seem like your up on a neighboring partier. Great place for large groups, small gatherings or couples.
