I decided to try Captain's Cove today after hearing good things about the new ownership. I went for lunch with a few coworkers and bosses. At first glance, the place looked great--clean, modern, and nicely decorated. The atmosphere felt welcoming for both younger and older guests. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, especially since we were the only ones there at the time. However, things started to go downhill when we looked at the menu. The prices were surprisingly high for this area--honestly more in line with what you'd expect in a bigger city like LA. It immediately set a higher expectation for the food. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with garlic fries. The fries were crispy, but there was barely any actual garlic--just a faint hint of garlic oil. When I think of garlic fries, I expect to see and taste real garlic, not just a suggestion of it. The tri-tip sandwich was the biggest disappointment. It came with only two very thin slices of meat--more like deli cuts than a hearty tri-tip portion--along with arugula and a spread that didn't really complement the sandwich. The flavors just didn't come together. To make matters worse, the root beer was flat, and while the waitress was kind, drink refills were minimal--basically once when we sat down and once when we were finished. For $22 per sandwich, the value just isn't there. For what we spent as a group, we could have had a much better meal elsewhere--honestly even in places like Pebble Beach. I understand businesses have overhead, but pricing needs to match both the quality and the local customer base. The people who live and work here year-round are the ones who will sustain the business, especially during slower seasons. Unfortunately, based on this experience, it'll be a while before I return. read more

We've been coming here since it was Rockin Robles pizza. Lately. This place has been a complete miss! One trip waited over 2 hours for our to go order. (After being told it was be 30 mins) twice we have ordered a pepperoni pizza and added extra toppings. Both times now. They've forgotten to add the pepperoni. We had such a wonderful experience for our grandmas 80th birthday party here. The staff was so accommodating when it came to us decorating, putting in our order early, and meeting the needs of all the guests. The service was incredible during the party- they did a great job keeping pitchers full and checking in on our pizza/if we needed anything else. We were able to bring our own cakes and sing and celebrate. They also set us up with a combination of indoor and outdoor tables. It was a beautiful day and we were thankful for the rolling garage door that allowed us to move in and out. The food itself was amazing! The shipwreck pizza was my personal favorite. Just a little update on my prior post. I have to say that we've been to Captains Cove 5 times since they opened and can't say enough about their food, beverages, atmosphere and staff. We've had burgers, appetizers , pizza and salads. We have not been disappointed. I must say though our favorite things has been the Eye Patch pizza and the Summer Salad. The pizza dough is great with the hot honey bbq sauce and crispy jalapeños. Summer salad is incredible. Tomatoes, watermelon, feta crumbs, cucumbers and a house made vinaigrette. . Stop by. The owners of Captains Cove are trying to overcome a bad rap that this restaurant was left with from prior owners. WOW. They are doing a great job! This place is a hidden gem. Service is great. The food was really good. I had the BBQ burger with onion rings. The burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! Onion rings were crunchy and not greasy. My husband had the Buffalo Chicken Salad. He said it was excellent. The arugula in the salad was peppery and it complimented the buffalo chicken nicely. The dining area is an airy open space that even when full would not feel crowded. We will definitely return. Great experience. I highly recommend Captains Cove! Sorry for no pics. Tonight was my second time here. The first time, the pizza was great, but they did not use white sauce as requested and my husband and I have horrible acid reflux so we were a little disappointed. However...all the appetizers we ordered were on point and super yummy! Tonight we wanted to try something different. We ordered 2 burgers, medium, with onion rings and a side of fries. Little bit disappointed because our burgers were cooked well done, but the onion rings ROCKED! Our side of fries were a little soggy, but hey...they were ordered TO GO, so you get what you get. The taste was great, texture just a little off. So for $57 we got 2 1/4 lb burgers with onion rings as a side, and 1 order of fries. Will I come here again? Absolutely. Will i make sure to double check my burgers is medium instead of well done? Yes. BUT! Overall, the taste and the quality was absolutely there. I can't wait to hit the lake again, and come in amd grab some grub at the new lake spot! Would have given 5 stars based on taste, but my apologies to the owners because I really like a medium burger! I have gone here more than once. They have done a wonderful job with renovation and menu items offered. Some of their menu items are below average in taste and portion, while some are just fine. Their wine pour is not worth what they charge. Their service can be spotty. I know prices on everything have gone up in today's economy.
