I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say these sandwiches might very well be worth a drive from Corona, CA. I ordered The Coastal Cowboy and The Californian. These sandwiches are WELL worth the price. Handcrafted with love, seriously. I think there was one young man in the kitchen. And he did a phenomenal job! Everything tastes super fresh! The portions are huge. I ordered the two sandwiches for myself and they took me into the next day. The flavor of the tri tip was unlike anything I've had. Peppery and juicy and smokey. The veggies on the California felt like they came from the backyard. And the bread? Sighs. Staff was extremely nice. The gift shop was cute. Lunch hours are busy so try and come on the off times. We keep driving back up to Cambria to Sebastian's in San Simeon to get that wonderful toasted Californian turkey sandwich. This is a real star of our trip! We love the scenery going up, but we also love seeing the old store and the beautiful location right by the old Hearst warehouses that held all the treasures that he was importing from Europe to put in Hearst castle, which is right across the street and up the mountain. They're always tourists there, who are very friendly! Sometimes we share a table with people and learn about where they're from and how they're touring California. We even give them a hint or two on what we like around town. There's nothing like local knowledge to help you out when you're traveling. We were sitting with a couple from England the other day who were touring the coast and we were able to give them a hint or two about what to see while they were here and also which tour to take at her castle! (The guest house tour is great, you get to see the real undisturbed castle interiors.) On our most recent visit, Sebastian's had wine tasting out on the patio. Patio seating is limited, because they reserve three tables for wine tasting!! We did discover a lot more seating had been added out in what used to be a horse corral, so we ambled on over there. We sat at a high table, kinda on the path out to the horse corral, where there was shade. We sat in observed all the other people coming and going while we enjoyed our delicious Californian sandwich! read more

Nice sandwiches. The lady running the counter was very nice. However the sandwiches are quite expensive running around $20 a sandwich for that price they could include a bag of chips or something. Everything on the menu is great! You can order online and then go pick it up too. We did that for a friend's birthday and then took our sandwiches across the street to the Hearst Wine Tasting. It was a fantastic birthday for our friend. This is also a great spot to get a sandwich and go to the beach. Many travelers stop here and take photos by the historical Hearst Buildings and eat on the patio. It is a favored local spot for lunch parties, baby showers and other gatherings. We love the deli at Sebastian's- the sandwiches are way above and beyond in quality, quick, and never disappoint. My husband and I are so enamored with the Californian (a perfect, super hearty turkey club with excellent and plentiful ingredients- the pepper jack, bacon, thick-cut turkey, and sprouts really set it off) that we struggle to order anything else. When we do deviate, everything is excellent. The deli salads are great too- we love the broccoli salad. The outdoor seating is plentiful and comfortable, as well as spacious and dog-friendly (we brought our two today, and had no problem putting ourselves out of highly trafficked areas given that our newer little rescue is not yet used to restaurant patios). The store itself is super clean, and better appointed and curated than ever! They have some awesome gourmet and specialty food items, and a lot of very cute home decor items and gifts. We enjoyed Sebastian's so much that we went twice during our trip to Cambria. The large outdoor seating area has plenty of picnic tables and incredible views of the surrounding horse pasture and mountains. Great casual place to grab a sandwich and glass (or bottle) of wine. Stopped by for a quick bite after wine tasting at Hearst Ranch Winery. Such a cute little store that completely fits in with the vibes of the whole area! While they have limited hours, they offer a nice selection of lunch items. Their Coastal Cowboy sandwich was packed with flavorful tri-tip - good size to either have for a meal or share between two. Because it was raining, you know we had to get a cup of their tomato bisque, too. Creamy and perfect for dipping our sandwich in. They have a few tables inside (and if I recall, a few outside as well?). While we ate here, you can also get the food to go and take it to the winery. It's also a general store/boutique with some kitschy items as well as wine-related gifts (and wine itself!) and some history on the area. We've stopped by here twice now, but it was never during a peak tourist time. So while it was never busy during our visits, not sure how it would be during summer. We got the 805 Californian (toasted) and the shrimp sandwich (served cold). Shrimp sandwich was messy but tasted like ceviche. Really recommend this one. The hubs and I stopped here in November for a quick lunch before our Hearst Castle tour and then we came back after our tour to shop and have a chipwich! For lunch we split a Californian - if you're not into healthy, crunch bread type sandwiches, this probably isn't the sandwich for you. Lots of flavor, maybe even a little too much going on. The chipwich we got on the back side of our tour was an impulse buy and it was delicious... except it was $10... for one chipwich. The loss of star here is based on portion size and the prizes - just so expensive, but when you're the only game in town you can price as you like. The outdoor seating area is very nice and very quiet. The shop is adorable w/ all kinds of pantry foods, kitchen wares, and more. I found a cute marine life book for a baby shower I'm attending - unique finds! Oh and the bathrooms were the cleanest we encountered in our CA road trips. read more

Order at the counter and get buzzed to pick up your items. We tried the Burger with chips - well done only, no options Tri-tip bbq sandwich California sandwich Burrata salad Kale salad Frose (there's also a wine slush) that must be finished on the patio - no to go I thought everything was ok only. I think people come here as a pit stop to the winery or Hearst Castle out of convenience. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Sebastian is inside a little country type store. Everyone is friendly and accommodating, when you first walk in you walk through their little gift shop and you wanna buy everything. My husband and I don't eat very much so we split a tuna sandwich and it's loaded with a lot of goodies. Both of us could barely finish a half of a sandwich. The sandwiches are a bit pricey, but they're very very filling. The nice thing about the store is everything is very unique, but comes with a price tag. We walked out of there with a bottle of wine, some little trinkets, and this beautiful olive oil container which will look very pretty on my kitchen table or the kitchen counter next to the stove. I highly recommend going in and getting a bite to eat and perusing their store. There's something for everyone. read more

Sebastian's store is a sandwich shop that was highly recommended by the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort we stayed at. The indoor dining area has very limited seating, but luckily we found a table available. We all tried the tuna melt sandwich, the steak sandwich, the grilled cheese sandwich, and the soups. The Harvest steak was pretty good but there was too much horseradish on it that made it too spicy to eat. If you don't want it to be too spicy, I suggest you request the horseradish on the side. The restaurant also features wine-tasting and a souvenir shop, also a small supermarket inside the shop. There is outdoor seating outside the restaurant and you can see a few horses just next to the property. I would recommend going there for lunch or just a rest when you're visiting Hearst Castle or if you are in the San Simeon area. It might take a while to get your meal so you can buy some souvenirs while you wait. There are many famous attractions and photo spots nearby that you can easily visit. read more

We were a bit early for our reservation at Hearst castle, so when we had passed this area earlier int he week, we knew we had to go back. This store/deli is located in a small little town on a ranch/winery. You can park on side or in front of the store to get a quick bite and to shop for some memorable souvenirs. The lady at the cashier was super nice and started talking to my son giving him some exclusive information about Old San Simeon and gave him tips on his upcoming tour we were taking at the castle. The deli in the back of store sold some pretty yummy looking sandwiches and local wines that we did not get to try out. The couple who was there and who we talked to, said that the food was great and it was there second time coming since it was close to their hotel. Lots of history and information about San Simeon and about the coast. We were able to try out some local beers that they had for sale before heading out and we enjoyed them on the patio outside. There was a horse on the ranch galloping around which was a sight to see. Small town with a big heart! If you are going on a tour at Hearst Castle, stop by to grab a quick bite or to just browse around before heading up. read more

She is a WEALTH of information; most deserving of a raise. Not Kidding. You can also taste some of Hearst Ranch wines and olive oils. There are plenty of outdoor dining areas with umbrellas, chairs and shade. There weren't many choices to eat in this particular area of town, and i am so glad we stopped here for our lunch! The sandwich shop is tucked in the back of a gift shop and i would bet money to say that every thing coming out of this tiny kitchen is superb. The shrimp were cooked so perfectly that I know i couldn't have done a better job. The spice was perfect. I was warned that it had some heat, but i loved it! "The burger was one of the best burgers i've ever eaten!" says my son. And turkey in the Californian was thick cut from a bird, not processed deli meat that is questionable. And did i say how heavy that sandwich was? I would come here again in a heartbeat! The weather was a delightful 70 so it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. They serve food so you take it to go. Just makes it easy to make a picnic with something memorable to eat. I was traveling up the coast with family. One of the stops was Hearst Castle. We booked the first tour of the morning and then planned to continue driving up to Monterey. We wanted to grab a quick lunch to-go that we could enjoy at some spot along the coast. I found Sebastian's on Yelp and I'm so glad I did! It's located across the HWY 1 from the entrance of Hearst Castle. The shop itself is adorable with very cute novelty gifts and souvenirs. The shop and restaurant were immaculate and the incredibly clean, well decorated bathrooms were a welcome site (especially since her castle only has porta potties at the moment). We got our meals to go and pulled off at a spot further up the coast. We had their pulled pork, barbecue sandwich, goat, cheese salad, burrata salad, and a side of smoked tri-tip. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. The salads were generous, filled with lots of goodies and beautifully finished with edible flowers. I'm still craving the smoked tri-tip and wish I had gotten more. I highly recommend this spot! read more

We were a party of 6 having some lunch after the Hearst Castle tour. With the Winery all about tasting only, reservations only, etc. We went straight to Sebastian's for a bite to eat and a cool beverage. They have plenty of seating outside and a table inside. All the sandwiches were really good! I had the Cubano and it was very tasty, large and spiced well. I only ate half and saved it for a snack later on. Wine, beer and soda are available as well. It was a perfect lunch stop to relax before heading south to the beach area. Best if you are not in a rush Will stop again next time to San Simeon area. Went on a Hearst Castle tour and finished right around lunch time and came to Sebastian's. San Simeon does not have a lot of options for food and you can drive 20-30 minutes north or south but Sebastian's is conveniently almost right outside the exit of Hearst Castle. It was really cute. There is a lot of parking available and the building itself is shared between a gift shop/wine tasting shop and a sandwich shop in the back. If you're into charcuterie and wine tasting I can see this being a really great stop but we don't drink alcohol. The little souvenirs and art inside were very cute and coastal as well. You can sit inside or outside. Their menu was actually very diverse and interesting! You can even order the Italian Hot Rancher that uses beef from Hearst Ranch. We ordered "The Shrimp" and the macaroni salad. The inside was absolutely stuffed with a shrimp salad that had lots of herbs and veggies that balanced each other super well. The roll was toasted and warm and was a nice contrast to the cold shrimp salad inside. Definitely big enough to share. The macaroni salad was being made fresh as we were ordering so I had to go for it and I'm glad I did. It was not your typical heavy mayo mac salad and had a lot of freshness from the veggies and seasonings. This was a convenient stop and the food was pretty good, but it was a little pricey paying $18 for a sandwich. Still think it is probably the best option you have in the area so I would recommend it to anyone checking out Hearst Castle. read more

This is a revisit after several years. They claim to be the same family run business but this is not what I was told and read in the local newspaper. The store may be still family run but the deli inside the store is the same people who had opened a food truck when the floor of the previous deli inside the store collapsed. The food truck was not run by the same people who had run the inside restaurant. They had moved to a place in Cambria. If you read the reviews for the food truck, as I had, you would be concerned about eating there. The menu looked good. The gift store was full of unique items and we enjoyed shopping, and spending money there. I was disappointed as I asked the price of an item and decided to buy it but when she rang it up it was $3 more. No thanks. read more
