Solid meal and drinks for lunch. We went light, getting a fried fish sandwich and crabcakes app as well as white wine and one of the two beers on tap. Service was good, food was punctual. Tartar sauce for fish and aioli for CC were too heavy on mayo. Crab cake was solid, even though it was probay just a prepared mix portioned, smashed and fried on the flat top. Cant blame someone when they figure out the way to do it well AND easy. Fish sandwich was enough fish for the bulkie roll but not be overwhelming. Nice ripe tomatoes and a couple sprigs of romaine were under a self administered tartar sauce top bun. Fish was probably under seasoned or ar least couldn't hold up against the tomato and romaine. Could have been the underwhelming tartar sauce, but probably should have S&Pd the greens. For us, we dont get to Chatham that much and it was nice to do something low key, reasonably priced and in downtown center. Three stars is what we gave but it's definitely a possible 4 star when we go again (which we will). It fits a nice niche. If ownership is reading this, kick up the aioli and get better consistency on the tartar (because I find it hard to believe anyplace on cape would serve what we got as their tartar). read more

We were visiting the town and came about this charming spot. Not super fancy but exactly what we were looking for. The server was so sweet and efficient. Crab cake appetizer is outstanding and the staff was above and beyond. During this pandemic, so many places are suffering and it was so nice to see them abiding by guidelines with smiling faces and we never felt uncomfortable. This adorable little eatery on Chatham's main drag caught our eye for some lunch (party of 6) we were not disappointed we dropped in. We were given a 20 minute wait time and were sat in no time in spacious comfortable seating on a brick courtyard. Our server Kiaja was was warm, welcoming, beyond efficient and professional. The house made Bloody Mary's with bacon were delicious . Our orders ranged from breakfast burritos, to sandwiches, burgers and salad. Everyone was honestly beyond thrilled with there meal, even surprised (only because the menu offers fairly "standard" fare) with the quality and execution. Fresh quality ingredients across-the-board, perfect proportions assembled, dressed and presented with care. I personally choose to get the house made potato salad side with my sandwich and it may be one of the best potato salad I've had (don't tell Mumsy). Worst meal we had in Chatham. The experience started off awkward, we walked in around 5 and there were about 4 staff members standing in the small restaurant... no one greeted us, they looked at us and we looked at them, then I looked at the "Please wait to be seated sign." This went on for 3-4 minutes before someone asked us if we wanted a table. We ordered 2 beers, the clam chowder, and the coconut shrimp. The clam chowder was watery and bland. The coconut shrimp was good. We watched food come out of the kitchen for other tables- it all appeared to be pre-packaged frozen food from a restaurant supplier. I say this being a Floridian who worked in one of those touristy seafood restaurants that served out of towners terrible quality food. After the appetizers we opted to not have dinner, got the check and left. The service also continued to be lackluster. At first, I assumed it was because there was a long table of 15-16 people in the middle of the restaurant. But as the evening went on I noticed that other people came in and received better service, they were obviously locals and the staff knew them. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews here as we were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We had taken a drive up to Chatham lighthouse on our visit from out of town and coming back through found this little gem situated in the main street area of Chatham. It is small, however, they were accommodating to us as they close at 9 pm and we arrived around 7:30, and were seated at their outdoor patio which was nice, as the weather was perfect. I ordered the fish and chips, which was Fried cod, french fries and coleslaw ( no idea why Haddock is rare on the coast, as I couldn't seem to find it anywhere, but Cod is just as good). The portion of Cod was adequate, fried to a golden brown and was not overcooked, and the french fries were cooked to a golden crisp. I am extremely finicky with coleslaw and how it's made. I was so pleasantly surprised that the coleslaw was so good. It had a? hint of something in it... I am guessing celery seed... that gave it a really different taste but it really worked!! If they see this review, I really want to know what they add to it because I am still raving at home about how good their coleslaw was! Our server was very nice, polite and attentive to our needs. She even offered me a small "taste" of Reisling wine as I had never had it before and allowed me to try it before ordering. Here in NY that never happens (lol). She also brought several different types of hot sauce for my husband to try to see which ones he preferred. She gave excellent service, which at times, is hard to come by in today's world. My husband ordered the grilled swordfish, scallop and shrimp platter with rice and sauteed vegetables and stated that it was all really good. He had never had grilled swordfish and was pleasantly surprised and stated that all the fish was cooked very well. He could have used a bit more rice as he said the portion was a bit small, but overall he loved his meal. I would definitely recommend this cute place if you are in the Chatham area of Cape Cod. This place has delicious lobster rolls and they are not just made with "filler" like other restaurants. There are large jumbo pieces of actual lobster and these taste great. Don't even know where to start. While the family shopped the square, we put our name in for a table for 4 and were told about 20 minutes. I waited outside and occasionally looked in at multiple open tables. About 5 minutes after I put my name in, another group of 4 put their name in. After finally sitting at our table right inside the door (that slammed every time someone opened it) We did get to have fun watching the hostess(who also has to be the owner) be rude to virtually every customer that came in. The highlight was the rude contest between the hostess and a rude guest. Hostess must have won as the guests decided to leave. I went for the lobster roll. Actually really good, a little small but good flavor. Had a bag of chips, very small bag, only 8 chips(I counted). We also had a chicken sandwich with creamy garlic sauce, except we had to ask to have the sauce after the food arrived. Fish sandwich was OK. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good but tough to screw up a fried chicken sandwich. The funniest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant was when we ordered Cheese fries, we received a few fries with a square slice of American cheese halfway melted over the top. Really? That's the best you can do? I know enough about food to know that the Captains table is putting out the minimal effort and taking tourist money. Many better options nearby. read more

Top siders, seersucker, linen suits and Vineyard Vines. *sigh* Stopped in here for a drink and sat on the shaded patio. It was quiet and cool. Enjoyed an ice cold Sam Summer, but didn't eat. I have to say though, I appreciated the following: 1. 8 of us occupied tables at about 2pm and only a couple ate, but we weren't rushed out. 2. We ordered the lobster cocktail and the fried fish platter each for 15 dollars. The portions were very disappointing especially for the lobster cocktail. The lobster cocktail is nothing more than chilled cooked lobster dipped in cocktail sauce. They maybe gave us 1/2 a pound of lobster for 15 bucks very disappointing. We were trying to find a place to eat for dinner without hitting the bank. The seafood place across the street was on the high end and waiting time was 45 minutes. This place had a decent menu prices and immediate seating. I got the grilled shrimp and scallops with steak. My dad got the fisherman's fried seafood platter. My mom got the salmon salad. My girlfriend got the salmon curry with spinach salad. Service was fast and price was very reasonable. My mom got the bill and was surprised at what good value and good food. Do not eat here if you have any allergies or food intolerances. After almost being turned away because there were 7 people in our party, they changed their mind and called us back in. It is a tiny place, but that would've been a stupid choice considering the bill and tip we leave. Anyway, despite telling our server about 2 different allergies in our group, both my son and my friend had allergic reactions after eating here. The server made note of it, but it is clearly an unclean place, or they are completely uneducated about food allergies. How dangerous. Pros: Outdoor seating, friendly staff, never much of a wait, quick service, kid friendly. Cons: The food is bland at best, and the chowder might be the worst I've ever had. I was out for a day of walking and shopping main street Chatham when my friend and I needed a place to eat. My father had recommended the Red Nun but we couldn't find it and didn't know it wasn't directly on Main street, so we stopped at the Captain's Table because the prices looked reasonable and they had an outdoor patio. The inside is small and run down, but the patio was nice. There wasn't a wait and it wasn't crowded but there were a few tables taken up. The waitress we had was also the one to seat us and was not very pleasant to say the least. She seemed irritated we didn't get an alcoholic drink, even though it was barely even noon. I ordered a mozz, pesto, onion panini that had prosciutto on it and asked for chicken instead, and she replied that the cook might charge and up-charge to do that.. I replied that chicken is much less expensive than prosciutto and to ask the cook because if that was the case I would order something else. She had been rude from the start but it only got worse after that. With it not being busy, I didn't think my request was anything out of the ordinary for her or the cook to handle. (The sandwich was still $10 which is high no matter which way you order it) Onto the food, I ended up getting the sandwich (with no up-charge) and it as average. My friend had chowder which she said wasn't great and a tuna melt which again was average. Probably wouldn't eat here again. Should have walked up the street a bit to the Red Nun instead.
