I had an engine replacement job done at Car Clinic, and I cannot be more satisfied with their technical expertise, repair experience, honesty, and the overall positive experience I had bringing the car here for the work. My daughter has been driving her Scion over a decade, and now its well driven and well-worn high mileage engine has lost power. She considered a new engine swap to keep her beloved Scion running. I contacted several automotive repair shops for cost estimates and repair details to determine the feasibility of this engine work on this older car. Many shops I contacted either have no experience doing engine swaps, or lack the confidence in their scope of work to give a reasonable cost estimates that they can commit to. My call to Johnny of Car Clinic stood out from the rest. Johnny was friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and experienced in this type of engine replacement work. He showed a genuine interest in getting the job done right, and was patient when discussing exact details of all the necessary tasks, cost, and coordination involved. He has extensive experience and insight to the necessary labor & parts involved that he gave me a very reasonable quote with confidence to commit to. His master mechanic Cory did the actual engine installation work skillfully and efficiently. The project requires scheduling and coordination of new engine order, removing old engine, receiving new engine delivery, preparing removed old engine core for return pickup, installing new engine, and installing appurtenant engine components not included with the new engine. Johnny demonstrated effective project administrative and coordination skills during this engine replacement work as well. My daughter's Scion is running great now with the new engine, and she is very pleased with her experience at the Car Clinic as well. If you need work done on your car, then RUN RUN RUN over to Ed at CAR Clinic. This is the ultimate car repair shop EVER. Ed is a totally stand-up guy. Two recent instances: 1) Ed had replaced my tie rod ends (with OEM Motorcraft parts). A few days later my wheels were wobbling while driving. I had AAA tow my car back to the shop. Turned out that one of the parts had cracked totally in half. Ed not only replaced and repaired it for free (he ate all of the cost), but he also reimbursed me for my rental car for the day! 2) Ed had installed a reman engine in my vehicle. Many months later I was having an issue with my temp gauge reading max hot and giving me all kinds of warning messages. Turned out that the temp sensor was bad, and there was some worn harness wiring that was causing the issue. Ed replaced the temp sensor and repaired the faulty wiring - and DIDN'T CHARGE me one cent. This was a $750 job. I offered to at least pay for the parts, and he would hear none of it. What shop would ever even think about doing that?? Not only does Ed and his techs know what they are doing - but he is honest to a fault. I see many collector cars in his shop also, and you know those guys don't just let anyone work on their cars. I was originally referred to Car Clinic over a year ago to get my heater fixed on my truck. They did an excellent job fixing my truck and for a fraction of the cost that was quoted to me from other locations. I was extremely happy with the work and the price was amazing. I then noticed that they work on classic cars so I asked if they could get my 1972 Ford Ranchero running again after it had sat for more than a year without being started. Johnny (Owner) jumped at the chance and got to work and had my Ranchero running in less than a week and again the price was way better than I ever thought it would be.
