Most rude person at an auto shop have ever encountered. We had an appointment and they said they were too busy to send any confirmation, email, text anything. They said it goes automatically but it didn't so I said c'mon I know you can send an email, won't you? They said if I need a confirmation I should just take my business elsewhere. I was shocked and he repeated that, saying maybe this isn't the shop for us. He said he is the owner. Took his advice, business elsewhere. Sometimes seniors need a confirmation in form of email or something for appointments because our memory is not so good. I only hope the next customer will be treated better. To be treated with such scornful rudeness for that is very sad, I do not wish anyone else to have that experience. read more

Got an oil change for my Prius done here 10k miles ago. I decided to change the oil myself this time around and could not get the oil filter cap off. They must've used a power tool to put the cap on (which is a big no-no).Ended having to go to the dealer to fix costing me more time and money. Update: The dealer also had issues removing the filter. They told me they had to use the "screwdriver trick" where they stab the filter with a long screwdriver and wrench it off. read more

I've been coming to Car Nerds for a few years now. Their service is always efficient, reasonable and thorough. But today I brought my Subaru Outback in with a problem I had created - accidentally dumping my handbag over and losing the key fob somewhere in the seats. I'd tried and failed to find it myself at home but Matt and his guys were so great. Took a while to find it, tucked on a fold between the seat and the console but they kept looking. I had an issue with a piece at the bottom of my car falling off. They told me it was gonna be a quick ten minute fix when I thought i would have to spend hundreds to get the whole piece replaced. The best part was they said it would be free of charge! Obviously I couldn't let them spend 10 minutes of labor for no pay so I tipped them but I was really appreciative of their quick analysis and repair, as well as their thoughtfulness in repairing it for free. I stumbled on this place since my guy retired and someone referred me to them. They said they were good with Prius cars. I can't say enough good things about them and I am so happy that I found this place. Matt and Rony were incredible and helped me all along the way. They fixed my car RIGHT for a fraction of the cost of the dealer! My console screen crashed with a mesage in Japanese. It probaby translated to "Do you really want to delete all your files?" (: My regular mechanic said he won't touch it because he doesn't have the expensive software from the dealer. Car nerds said they can program anything -- and they are right! I'm absolutely sure I saved a huge amount of money from not taking it to the dealer. I had the best experience here. I have a 2009 Subaru Forester and noticed it was shifting weird. I brought it to the dealership for a diagnostic and lo and behold I needed a new transmission. I wanted to leave another review for Rony, Matt and the Car Nerds. They've been servicing my Mazda Miata since Covid started. They fixed an oil leak, the brakes and most recently an alternator and big Timing Belt replacement. They get busy, which is a good thing, so I'm lucky the worked me into their schedules. I always feel like trust goes two ways, I won't try to squeeze for every cent to save money, because they need to eat too, and I hope they don't bring up things I don't need fixing and gouge for every little thing. Recently when I had the timing belt job done, it was a big one and I wasn't sure if they could finish by closing time. I live close by but hung around. They were almost done but it turned out they needed an extra hose. So they paid for my uber ride home, and knocked the cost of my bill. The next day the part they needed arrived late, not their fault. I had already taken my uber there and was waiting. I needed my car and had a meeting to intend as well. As they worked on my car they notice a small fix, so it would take a little longer. i had already paid so basically they wanted to make sure my car was running properly. So Rony got me a rental. I was stressed because I was late, and also because of Covid I rather not be anywhere longer then I need to be, even though they are pretty safe there with the open air and hand sanitizer. The most important part is they didn't rush the service. They need a 5 dollar part and had to wait for it. I wasn't trying to rush them either just trying to figure out my schedule. Things do come up in my business and theirs I'm sure but I love that they wanted to work with me and take care of my car. It really is running great now. My chevy started smoking on the highway and I chose to have it towed to the Car Nerds because of its stellar reviews. I immediately learned why they're a 5 star outfit. I've been going to Car Nerds for a while now and with every visit, the level of service gets better and better! Rony and Gill are both knowledgeable and genuinely trying to remove the anxiety from car maintenance. It's super stressful especially if you don't know a lot about cars, but they walk you through what the problems are and make the best recommendation for your car and wallet. Recently I had a car part fixed at Audi and when I took it to Car Nerds, they walked me through to make sure that the failed part would be covered under the part warranty at Audi and told me exactly what to say and do to make sure I was taken care of for this specific issue. They even topped off my coolant at no charge! My dad is my car guy and helps me with maintenance and issues but since I don't live at home, I go to Rony and Gill because they are trustworthy and have a customer first attitude so it's always a pleasure taking my car needs to Car Nerds! read more

My 2004 Honda Accord unexpectedly stalled with its check engine light on. Double checked that my gas cap was tight and then called AAA. They recommended the Car Nerds who said they could evaluate it that day. After diagnosing the problem being oil sludge mucking up my vvt valve, they were able to replace the valve and clear out the oil sludge. Quick and efficient at a reasonable price. This was my first time working with Car Nerds, and I was incredibly impressed by their customer service and repairs! It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic because I'm not from the area, but I would highly recommend this place for your vehicle needs! I called last Monday to schedule a free diagnosis for my 350Z. Gil got me their earlier appointment for that Friday. They're extremely busy, so this was understandable. I appreciated that he was able to look at their calendar and plug me in at their earliest convenience. I took my car in Friday morning and by the afternoon, Gil called to update me after they had run diagnostics and provided me an explanation to the issues I was having and an approximation to the costs and labor along with a timeframe. I also met Rony later on in the afternoon, and he also gave me a thorough explanation as to why my car was making noises during the cold start and discussed costs. Surprisingly, the cost was affordable! Definitely better than what I would have paid if I had gone to the dealership. They took my car the following week and had it fixed and ready in a day's work! I had a couple of my belts replaced because they were starting to tear. The checkout process and pick-up was easy! Gil and Rony are such amazing people to work with. They truly communicate with their customers. This was my first time taking my car to Car Nerds, and I would definitely come back again. Gil even showed me my old car parts and explained to me what had happened. I appreciated the transparent explanation to the work been done. Great mechanics shop: honest, fast, and thorough. They are known for being a hybrid and Toyota shop. I brought my 2007 Lexus GS350 in that had had problems with its belt and a headlight. Bestest place ever! Top notch business!!!! We all know that trying to find a great car shop/mechanic to get your car repaired is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Look no further! Seriously there is no need to you just found your new repair shop. On my way to work I always saw this shop on my drive...So I looked them up on YELP and with all the positive reviews I took a chance (I know very little to nothing about cars). This place is a GEM! I took my car to the MB dealership originally to get my car repaired and of course they way over charged me for the service I actually had done (I wish I had found Car Nerds before!!!) and MB found like 90 other things on my car the needed to be fixed immediately. I am so glad that I waited and found Car Nerds instead. My Mercedes Benz ML 350 according to the dealership had something wrong with the oil line and an expander something... Car Nerds looked over the car and guess what-That wasn't even what was wrong with my car and a service that MB said I could wait on ended up being a huge issue, I explained I was going to move to Seattle (driving up there) and they wanted to make sure that I got there without any issues with my car. They charged me half of what the local MB Santa Monica dealership was going to charge me. Gil and Rony are gems-you couldn't meet 2 nicer and professional gentlemen! They said there were a few other minor things that could wait (relief). I never felt rushed or pushed like I needed to make an uninformed decision. When I waited to drop off my car Gil was on the phone with another customer and he took the same care, kindness and consideration that he did with me on the phone so I know it wasn't just a one off. When I picked up my car Rony took the time to explain why the fix on my car was needed urgently and the ramifications if it wasn't taken care of, in plain everyday english (no mechanic jargon). 1. Your car doesn't need to be a hybrid. They work on non hybrid cars as well. 2. When I called to make an appointment (I now know I was speaking to Gil) he was kind and not pushy and they were able to get me in very quickly. 3. They are fast! So you are not without your car longer than need be. 4. They are very honest! They explain what is wrong with your car without the hard upsell on anything else. 5. There are no hidden charges, you pay a fair price for labour and parts...when MB Santa Monica looks over your car there is an almost $200.00 to just look over your car? Seriously? Car Nerds are busy for a reason...when the word gets out that they are honest good people you wouldn't expect anything else. Kind, honest, QUALITY, fair, fast, professional, generous, reasonable, impressive and straightforward...If those are descriptions that you are looking for in a car service shop...take your car to Car Nerds you won't be sorry. I'm a short, young, blonde woman with a BMW -- to say I'm a prime candidate for automotive scams is an understatement. But actually, I happen to know a lot about cars, and I find it entertaining when mechanics try and tell me essentially my car will explode if I don't spend thousands of dollars RIGHT NOW... Car Nerds is everything you want from a mechanic shop with none of the bullshit. I originally found Car Nerds five years ago when my old SAAB 900 was having issues (when wasn't it?) and went with Car Nerds because they were the closest shop to my house. After moving from the SAAB to a 3 series BMW I stayed with Car Nerds. I've had a ton of different mechanics work on my cars over the years but Car Nerds is the only shop that I've returned to and that I always recommend to others. The guys at Car Nerds specialize in hybrids (I think... there's Prius' everywhere) but they're well versed enough to know specific / unique information relating to my European cars too. The guys there are funny, honest, incredibly knowledgeable, and work quick with great quality. They work with you like you're a longtime neighborhood friend and it makes you want to come back again and again. I've also found they're incredibly accommodating with appointments / walk ins, pickup, and maintenance timelines. The prices were fair, somewhat on the higher side but their customer service is great, which makes up for driving to other farther mechanics to get your car serviced for $40-$50 cheaper.
