    The ambassador ruben

I work nearby and have been intrigued to try it. Checked out the menu online looked good so walked over however I was looking forward to a breakfast item, only to learn that breakfast is only served on weekends, which was would've been nice to note on the menu. Ordered the Ambassador Ruben - and it exceeded expectations. However, I did wait about 25 minutes for the sandwich. I understand that there was people in front of me, but 25 minutes seemed a bit much. Overall, it wasn't an outstanding experience, but I will be back to try more food items and definitely the breakfast menu. I also understand that they are new and I'm sure experience will be much better once staff has a better grasp of things.

Good vibes, cozy, inviting, and friendly service. They serve breakfast, lunch, and drinks. Looks like there's some great happy hour specials too. Just stopped by to check it out, we grabbed a drink and enjoyed the peaceful patio seating.

We walked into this totally adorable street car and was immediately impressed. The owners are helpful, also adorable. We ordered our food and they set to work. They delivered it quickly for actually freshly preparing it. My "small" burger was huge for me but I ate every single bite! Our whole party loved our food from the specific menu. We will be back.

Great little get away. Went with my buddy for lunch. Had the 1871 Burger and it was perfection. Meal comes with a soda and a bag of chips. Worth every penny!! Will certainly go back to try other items. The breakfast looked good too!!

Had the BLT and it was delicious! The inside is cute and you could eat outside if you want to. Very friendly and helpful.

You order at the counter when you walk in, so it has a casual, almost cafeteria-style setup, but the space itself is BEAUTIFUL. The building has so much character, history and gorgeous architecture, and the decor gives very warm, rustic, farm-to-table, homegrown vibes. There are interesting little details everywhere you look. It also seems to be a great daytime meeting spot. Kansas City is apparently still a very small town because during one lunch I randomly ran into both a friend from undergrad AND an old coworker I hadn't seen in forever. I ordered the Salmon BLT and really enjoyed it. The salmon was delicious, the brioche was great, and even the chips were good. If I could change one thing, I think a slice of cheese would take the sandwich up another notch. Provolone would be good, but pepper jack might really set it off. Overall, my food was wonderful, I loved the atmosphere, and it's a great choice for lunch when you want something casual but still want to sit somewhere with personality. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Normally a second stop on such short timeline is a non-option, but that Steak Chimi had me asking questions... Is she really like that? Knocking my socks off with ease and leaving my cuticles filled with buttery remember-me's. I had to see her again. Had to! On the second time of asking, I wanted to see if she danced a different tune just as well. Putting on a Chicken Cobb for size proved ill-fitting, at least stood beside THAT sandwich. Nothing to make me crawl back with a humbling desperation. Inflation makes your lunch $10-15 already, so may as well make it twenty, order the right thing, and the Russell becomes worth frequenting. Just make sure she's wearing her shooting boots - we don't have room to thirst for Cobbs y'all.

When we told her it was our first visit to the restaurant, she took the time to carefully go over the menus with us (regular, happy hour, and drinks), providing her recommendations when we asked. Her guidance was spot-on-target! For drinks, I had a Mindful Chai and my friend had the 3-Beverage Flight (Golden Hour, Heart Says Thanks, and Tres Raices). My chai was the BEST I have ever tasted (and I order chai every chance I get!), and my friend loved her 3 drinks (she said Tres Raices was her favorite). For our food, we split an order of the Not Queso Dip and the Avocado Tostadas. We were both very impressed by how fresh the ingredients were, and the blend of flavors in each dish that created a unique and yummy taste. The Kitchen has an open, airy layout that inspires deep breathing, while the arrangement and spacing of tables still provides for intimacy of conversation and minimal ambient noise. Sofhia checked back with us several times during our meal to ensure we had everything we needed and were thoroughly enjoying our food and drink (we were!). It was a delightful meal, and we thank Sofhia, the kitchen staff, and everyone at Whole Harvest Kitchen for such a lovely time. We'll be back!!

Okay Modern Market, I see you…read more I was on the hunt for a healthy-ish spot for lunch (I mean, hello it is January), when I came upon Modern Market Eatery on Yelp. Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. A win for the health options, a ding for the chain, but not all chains are bad, an we are living in a time where there are some winners. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good. The chicken was cold, but still held some flavor, the dressing was great, there were fresh veggies, pickled onions. It was one of the best 400 calorie meals I've had in a long time. My dad ordered the salmon curry and he also enjoyed his though I didn't try it so jury's out on my opinion! I left full and happy to have discovered this spot. I'll be back soon!
