Popeye omelet hash browns and toast

Great food and service. Atmosphere is lacking but its a greasy spoon diner kinda place. Food is good!

Half Big John Breakfast without the requested corned beef hash.
    Patricia K.

Went here for an early breakfast and ordered a half order of the Big John, and subbed in the corned beef hash. Even for a half order, the portion size is plenty big. The coffee was hot and fresh, and I didn't feel the need to add cream or sugar, so that was a plus. They forgot the CBH and quickly fixed the problem. I didn't really have a problem with anything about this venue, it was not anything spectacular either though. I definitely got the feel of a "Mom & Pop" neighborhood diner, which I appreciated. Our waitress was friendly and dropped by to check on us occasionally, so I never needed to flag her down. It was not crowded at all, but I have feeling this place has regulars.

Very friendly, got the French toast. It was excellent. They have specials throughout the year, depending on season. Place a small, very cheap seating, but they do have to go and that's very good

I came here several months ago, and had forgotten to leave my review. This place was memorably good, as far as both food and service. The only reason my and my family came here was because I had a restaurant.com certificate for this restaurant, but had found out there was some error between restaurant.com and this place. Regardless, we ordered our food. My husband had a standard breakfast, and enjoyed his food. I had a very tasty West Coast Omelet, but the most impressive was my son's "Smokin Ring" hamburger. I took a picture to show what it looks like. He loved his burger, as it satisfied his big boy appetite. I'm looking forward to going back to try some other items.

Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs Breakfast
    Alton B.

Very pleased with the portion size. The country fried steak was tasteful and eggs were cooked as asked. Service was pretty good and this place had a nice setting.

Dining room. Probably less than 12 tables.

Breakfast was out quick and delicious. Big portions. Service was great. Small quaint place. The wait is worth it. There are less than 15 tables.

Whether tucked into the historic, vibrant bones of Midtown or settled into the polished, sun-drenched sanctuary of Leawood, this establishment is a triumph of spirit and soil. To walk through their doors is to leave behind the weary frantic pace of the modern day and step into a vision curated by the inimitable Robin and her team, who possess the rare, alchemical gift of artistic gastronomic genius. Every dish is a poem composed in color and texture, a testament to the idea that nourishment should be as beautiful as it is vital. The design itself--characterized by clean, confident lines and a minimalist elegance that whispers rather than shouts--acts as the perfect frame for their culinary masterpieces. It is a space that breathes, inviting the sunlight to dance across the table while the soul is quieted by the integrity of the ingredients. I have made it a point of honor to traverse the entirety of their menu at both locations, a delicious journey that has never once faltered. There is a distinct, warm current of Midwest nice here, that quiet, unpretentious folklore which suggests that the highest form of hospitality is to feed your neighbor as you would feed your kin. It is this authentic, grounded ethos that makes Billie's the definitive backdrop for my social life; it is where I bring my friends, not just to dine, but to show off the best of what our corner of the world has to offer. It feels as though Robin has captured the very essence of a modern-day prairie hearth, transforming the act of gathering into something sacred. The plates are vibrant landscapes of vitality, clean and intentional, reflecting a commitment to wellness that never compromises on the bold, adventurous joy of flavor. To sit at a table at Billie's is to feel part of a wider, kinder story--one where design meets devotion, and where the bounty of the land is elevated to an art form. It is a place that feels simultaneously like a well-kept secret and an open, generous invitation to all who seek a meal that feeds the body, delights the eye, and restores the heart. In the grand tapestry of our local culture, Billie's Grocery is a shining, indispensable thread, woven with such care and vision that it turns a simple afternoon of eating into a cherished memory, a landmark of grace in the heart of the Midwest.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with friendly, attentive service and a board full of nightly specials that makes choosing just one thing a challenge. While we've worked our way through a good chunk of the menu, a few favorites keep calling us back: the pretzels with beer cheese dip (dangerously good), the pork tenderloin sandwich, fish & chips, and the chicken fried chicken. And don't even get me started on the specials -- meatloaf, lasagna, caprese salad, lobster & shrimp ravioli... they nail it every time. And there's still more -- we haven't even made it to the burgers and pizza yet! This is one bar that truly gets bar food right. I'm no Gordon Ramsay, but I have a feeling even Mr. Hell's Kitchen himself would give a nod of approval. The place is a nice big restaurant in mission farms. It's an upscale casual vibe that is a bit different from the places we usually like to go for morning food. Nice comfortable seats and well appointed. We had never been before so we asked our server several questions and she was awesome. We spend a lot of time in New Orleans and they had beignets on the menu. She said no on the beignets in the friendliest way. She knew we wouldn't like them. Probably nothing against them they are probably fine enough but she understood where we were coming and politely gave us the scoop. Not only that but i was starving and she recommended we have the breakfast nachos that she described like tostadas and she was right! Perfect! All restaurants should have someone who cares about the business and customer enough to steer them the right way. We were both impressed with her. After the "nachos" we shared a breakfast burrito. Everything we got was good. The burrito was pork and eggs and it was tasty. Only thing is I wished they would have grilled the tortilla on the outside to firm it up. The potatoes were fine, but a bit bland. They could have used some seasoning and more onions. The nachos were good but I think could've used a bit more cheese. Overall, we were pretty happy and will be back. I am curious to try an omelette next time. I wonder if we can get the same server.

Make reservations because they had a two hour wait for walk-ins. For appetizers we shared their burnt ends. Tender and sauced perfectly. For dinner we shared a wedge salad, their mashed potatoes, asparagus (a must!), and their tomahawk steak! Instead of doing three separate steaks we did the one and it was a perfect size for all of us to share! The steak was tender and well seasoned, mashed potatoes creamy, and the asparagus was prepared in a way we hadn't had before - highly recommend! We also had their dessert lemon meringue pie and coconut cream pie! Really really good! Wine options: amazing! Bourbon options: classy! We couldn't give it five stars for two main reason: 1. We made a reservation for 7pm, arrived and check in at 6:50 and still had to wait just over 30 minutes to be seated. We learned that walk-ins had been seated ahead of us so we needed to wait for some tables to leave before we could be seated. This was a bit surprising. We understand waiting a few minutes, but 30 min is not okay. 2. The sweet server assisting us for dinner was in training and we learned from her "trainer" that she wouldn't be getting any of the tips from our dinner. Additionally, the "trainer" came over around 830 to tell us that although it was only three of us that gratuity is automatically included. Very odd that we were told these things during our meal. The server being trained should absolutely get a portion of the tips - we hope restaurant management reconsiders their policy on this especially since we hardly saw her "trainer". We normally tip over the 20% but because the trainer didn't get any of our tips, we opted to not increase the tip that was automatically charged to us. All in all really classy restaurant and food was delicious! We'll be back for sure!

The outdoor seating is a strong point. Serene, softly lit and spacious. The bartenders were business like friendly, they really don't want to hear your sad stories. The only downside was that they quit serving beer at halftime of the game we were watching. The game that went into extra time and on to penalty kicks. So we sat there for an hour and a half, thirsty, pockets full of unspent cash, watching the game while the neglected taps mercilessly mocked us. It honestly seemed baffling and inane beyond belief. Still, looking forward to a return trip when they're more willing to part with their delicious brews.
