Having been a long-time (and very satisfied) customer, I dropped by the shop the other morning to get some assistance with installing a rear controller for an AC system in a 2023 VW Atlas that had fallen inside of the console. After speaking with Glen (one of the managers), he had one of his techs (Nathan) come out to take a look at things. Nathan, quickly saw the issue I was having and got things fixed and all buttoned up very quickly (less than 15 minutes). I was prepared to pay for Nathan's time, but they would not accept any payment for his time and effort. That kind of service is why I will always use these guys when I need the services they provide. Not sure why this place only gets 2.5 stars. I have taken my 535 , 650 and recently M8 competition to them. Originally was for custom radar install. The most surprising part was I had wanted to get ceramic coat just to test out. Special shout out to Dan their detailer who you can tell has a true passion for this stuff. I have never seen anyone that cares about cars as much as he does. He did a spectacular job on detail and also the ceramic coat. Also explained care moving forward and things that could be tweaked and said bring it back whenever and we will do the tweaks. Dan won my business for as long as I will own cars and he does detailing. Dude is stand-up guy and does an incredible job. The whole team there does a great job. Tim did incredible at placement of custom escort radar install. Also handled all body work taking apart and putting back together which made me nervous as hell but he sounded like he knew his stuff and let me know his backgorund working on these types of cars to put me at ease. Class act there hope they stay as a team there for a long time. Great job guys! read more

First off, I would highly recommend Car Toys!! The whole crew went Above and Beyond ' Here are a few names Tim, Alden and Dalten . Sorry if i did not get your name in the review! I have a 2012 Kia Soul that I been having a hardship started with a fast blinker! It had a snowball effect. Went to my usual mechanic. Thought it was just a bulb replacement. Nope something else was going down. They advised me to go to the dealership. They made matters worst!! . Ended up with more car issues. Now not able to lock or unlock car with my car key fob while car was off. But did recommend Car Toys saying it was the second hand alarm system causing my car Issues. So went to Car Toys . Got a new Alarm System . But it did not fix my blinker issues or being able to lock or unlock while car off. They said it looks like its BCM -Body Control Module. So went back to the dealership and told them what Car Toys suggested. Paid them and got no results! Went back to Car Toys . They found that a fuse needed to be replaced, after tirelessly going threw the wiring, which took some time , because it was kind of hidden. What was connected to the BCM. Now my car has a GREAT alarm system that works perfect and I am able to use my car key fobs to lock and unlock my car! Thank You again! read more

So even after reading the reviews for this location I decided to give it a try. I had something set up at best buy for new speakers in my car, but their installers have weird schedules and couldn't fit me in. Car Toys was much different since their installers are always there. I was greeted by Alex who was extremely friendly, and didn't even once try to upsell me or push or show any products outside of my price range. He was very friendly and happy to help and a great listener of what I needed for me specifically. Cost was very similar to Best Buy, however they were able to get the service done much sooner and quicker than their competitor. Unfortunately they day I was supposed to have the install Ismelda came through and flooded the area so I had to wait till a different day. I called the day I wanted to get it done, and explained I was coming in from out of state and they were more than willing to figure something out schedule wise. When I got there I was greeted by some very friendly guys and they got me all set up, and had new speakers in less than an hour. However, when I pulled out I noticed the new one was crackling badly so I quick went back in and they immediately wanted to fix the problem. They listened and took my car back and put in a new speaker, as the other one was possibly faulty out of the box, and sure enough the problem was resolved. Booked a 9am appointment for an Avital remote start install only for them to tell me that they never actually booked it, and that it could take until 7pm to complete with 25% more labor cost than the website states ...because it's a Chevy - whatever, I NEEDED it, so fine. Two an a half hours later I'm told, "This kit doesn't have a remote, we can't do it." I try to explain that the 4003L uses the factory key-fob, and the rep. wants to argue, so I just asked for my stuff back. I didn't have high expectations, but they failed to meet even that. ..."it does not come with a remote, so at first I was unsure how to program the options I wanted. But where the directions state to "press the remote the number of times for the option you wish to select", I pulsed the Activation Input (-) the number of times for the selected option, and it worked perfectly." Extremely nice and helpful staff!!! I gave them a shot to provide a quote after taking my truck in and being able to speak with them. The same reason I didn't use them almost 10 years ago - pricing. They absolutely are way overpriced. Anything they "install" runs about $200 or more. A full audio upgrade just isn't worth all the "fees" and I've never seen a quote that applies 10% shop fees on almost every labor line item. If you have money to throw away, go for it. I'll have the same system installed for at least 30% less elsewhere.... same installer/shop I originally used when Car Toys came up with their ridiculous quote nearly 10 years ago. Again, they are friendly and knowledgeable, but I'm frugal and smart enough to know better. read more

This place is insane. It's like the Chic-fil-A of stereo systems. The staff is extremely outgoing and friendly but to a point that is respectful and not pushy. They are eager to do business and seem very passionate about what they do. I've visited twice to have installations and purchases made and both procedures were executed flawlessly and In a timely manor. I once had a subwoofer, amplifier, head unit, and harness installed and it was supposed to take a full day. These guys knocked it out in only half a day! I highly recommend visiting Car Toys for any stereo or sound work. I will always go there for work to be done in my car! read more

I'm from out of state and I told a buddy to go here to get a deck and sub I never had a bad experience with car toys ever in my life till I got a picture where their so call certified installer connected a 12 volt constant battery wire to the junction box under the dash I asked the assistant manager if my body can come back and have it install the correct way to the battery and he said yeah but he has to pay a hour of labor (smh) this is the type of stuff that be in 12 volt installer fails read more

This is the worst car toys I've ever been to. I took my car in to get a head unit, amp and sub installed. I waited over 5 hours for this to get done. I watched the installer spend more time in the office area then working in my car. I'm not a installer or professional but I know when running the wires for a system the fuse gets hooked up to the battery. That is not where it hooked up. My car is a 2005 so its older and the amp fuse is hooked up under the dash to something else. If it draws to much power it will fry my car. So I have to make sure to keep my system down. I would not and will not ever recommend this location to anyone. read more

I ordered backup sensors for more than one week, once it arrived, they gave t to someone else which let me wait another week. I did not hear any apologies for my wait... Agian parts arrived They kept my car for about 4 days for installation, thn had to call them asking why it took long time to install the sensors. .he reply" your car is ready to go" . I had my car detailed here. Cost me way over 100.00. I had completely emptied the car. Had car for over 5 hours. Didnt clean the console nor the inside of windows nor bottom of door panels. It did not include cleaning the outside. I have used regular car washes and for around $45 got as good a job. read more

Had front and dash cams installed on two vehicles. The install was flawless with cameras mounted in the optimal locations and wires neatly tucked away out of site. I have used them for all of my aftermarket installs and have always had great service from calling with questions to completion. The workmanship is flawless and their warranty provides piece of mind (have yet to need to use it). I highly recommend them! read more

I purchased a head unit and back up camera in October of 2017. The camera failed in January and I went back to this location. They were very busy at the time but offered to take my vehicle back immediately and replace the camera. I feel that this is great customer service. read more

The guy on the phone told me it would be $150, but when I got to the store to talk to someone (and extensively wait around while they stared at me) they priced it at $300 and told me I could do it myself since it just needs to be rewired. I have to say I was really disappointed in the level of service, the end result I got was good but it was a pain to get there. I had a Bluetooth/Nav system with backup camera installed. I called two times the day before it was to be done just to check if there were any issues and on progress, was assured car would be ready next day. I get there and find it not done because they have a question about the install they need to ask me. They had two chances when I called the day before plus they had my phone number, but still just let me waste my time getting there and it not being done. The 2nd time I went to pick it up after calling and being told it was ready, was a failure. I go there to find that the steering wheel controls for the radio were not working, wasted my time again The 3rd time I called and they said it would be ready by end of the day I asked about the steering wheel controls and was told it would be ready, I get there and it is still not working, apparently they needed to get some codes from the manufacturer and it would need to happen tomorrow. But once again, no call made to me to advise me. I take the car because I wanted to check out all the other functions but arranged to bring it in again to get it all fixed. I have the car now and I start checking other functions and find the microphone for the telephone is not working, plus after one day of having the car parked outside in the sun, the vinyl the put on the bezel they made started to delaminate. And I find that they had not reattached some of the interior trim on the dash. I take the car back on a Tuesday and say they can have it till Friday, to get it all working. I call Thursday and am told it is ready, I ask specifically about each item to be fixed and am told yes they each work. I call Friday morning, ask the same questions, am assured it's all working, I get there and the microphone is not working still, wait another 30 minutes while they figure out the connection was not made. I think next time I would go somewhere else. Spent almost $30 in Uber charges to get me to Car Toys to pick up my car that was not ready plus what should have been a 2 day job took a week. read more

Major fail by Car Toys. Took it to this location because they did excellent work 4 years ago on my dad's car. Guess times have changed. I purchased and set up an installation for a receiver and 4 speakers. I live an hour away - in downtown- but they don't do Saturday installations, which would be the only time I could get it done in the morning. The compromise was that the earliest I could get it to the shop was 4pm on Friday. The desk guy and installer -- I think his name was Austin -- said that would be fine. They told me it would be done by COB because the installation should take about "2 to 2 and half hours." A conflict came up, and I called to switch the installation to Thursday at the same time. The person I spoke with said that would be fine. I arrived on Thursday at 3:45, and they told that there is no way to install the stereo and speakers on Thursday. I would have to leave it until Friday at noon or reschedule. Rescheduling would be another 2 hour roundtrip drive. Apparently, whoever I spoke with did not "tell the two important people" -- the installer and the guy at the desk -- and they "never got the message." That is not my problem. I have no idea how communication works in their store. Apparently, no other installer than Austin could install my equipment because I got a "significant hookup" on the installation. I had no idea that I got a hookup or how much it even was. How was I supposed to know that the hookup means only one person can install the equipment? How was I supposed that if I am switching times, then I need to confirm if the installer is going to be available? Apparently, they never do installations after 1 pm because of this "problem." Don't know how to respond to that one -- I was standing right in front of Austin and the other employee when I said I could get it to the shop by 4pm and they said it would be fine. No one told me about this nothing-past-1pm policy. So I asked if the installer was willing to stay later or come earlier in the morning. No effort to compromise on staying later. When I asked about "earlier in the morning" I got a "how early?" response. "I don't know," I said, "early enough that I can get my car more like 10 am to 11 am, instead of noon." "No way, an installation like that takes 3 hours or so" was the response. Great, yet another piece of misinformation from these guys. I never got an apology. I never got an offer to discount it further if I came back. In fact, they almost seemed happy I was canceling the whole thing. To recap, they told me this would take 2 to 2.5 hours, that I could drop it off at 4 and be ready by close, and that I could switch the date to one day earlier. Turns out, it never takes shorter than 3 hours, no installations are ever done past 1 pm, and you have to "clear" any changes with your installer's schedule. Being that none of these were mistakes attributable to me, no acknowledgement was made that these were their mistakes, not mine, I left as a furious customer who just wasted 2, 2 hour roundtrips to walk away with nothing. On Sunday I bought a key Bob system for my daughter's Toyota Yaris. The salesman I was working with lead me to believe Shawn was the best to at installing this system. He checked his schedule and we decided that Wednesday at 9am was a good time for both of us and was told the install would be 45 minutes to an hour. I arrived at The Woodlands location at 9am and checked in. At 9:45am no one had touched her car. I inquired why my Daughter's car had not been started and the salesman went to check the schedule. He returned to tell me the installer did not start work until 11 am. An installer picked up on what was happening and he said he would take care of her car. I finally left Car Toys at 11am. The 45 minute install took 2 hours. A phone call would have saved me a lot of frustration. read more

Called back the following week only to find they quoted a display model (without my knowledge). Now they want to "substitute" with another brand/model. Went to Best Buy first to look at car audio. After about 20 minutes of absolutely no one helping us, we went to Car Toys. We were instantly greeted and were led to the stereo and speakers in our budget. The store manager single handedly restored our faith in ever receiving good customer service. He put together a very nice system that was under our budget. One less star for the first guy who greeted us who seemed to care less about us being there. Overall great. read more

The Installer Robert was amazing. We came in late on a Saturday night to look into getting a new Kenwood Stereo installed in our Expedition. Robert answered all our questions, was very professional and told us that if we came in first thing Sunday, he'd fit us in. We dropped the truck off at 10am on Sunday and by 1pm we had a professionally installed stereo unit and he even cleaned our Leather seats for a great price! Walked in the store and literally waited a good 10 minutes at the register to get assistance when there were four other employees inside. When I was at the register, they all looked at me and didn't bother assisting me until I asked an employee, Tony for assistance. After asking him for help, one of the four employees finally spoke to me and said that I would be helped by him shortly. Asked Tony general questions about rear speakers and purchased a new speaker for my car and he told me that they would be ready within an hour. 4 hours pass by and my speakers are still mot installed. Tony did not give me any updates and employees did not reassure me or apologize to me for making me wait so damn long. Now it is 6 'o clock PM. That's when traffic hits on 45. The idiots working there finally give me my damn keys and I'm immediately stuck in traffic. Overall, my experience at Car Toys was terrible. They have garbage customer service and horrible employees, except for one. Did not catch his name, but I believe that he was a technician for that place. Worse experience ever went in to have a new $1200 stereo installed i provided myself. Installer and sales rep came 10 minutes later saying my system was no good. But offered to sale me the over priced junk trash merchandise which is over priced as well. Told them no. Paid the $50service fee basically for nothing. Went down the road to a independent install shop. System was hooked up completely and professionally. I went back to the clowns at car toys and told them they are a true insult to service and are an insult to manhood. Told them cant wait to give the bad rating if I could give zero stars I would. IF YOU NEED A CELL PHONE OR CHANGE/UPGRADE YOUR CELL PHONE - THIS IS A MUST STOP. Cell Phones Experts, Friendly, and They Make Transfer Easy: After trying to upgrade phone and plan thru Verizon directly, then Best Buy, then Walmart, then StraightTalk - FOUND THESE FOLKS BY MISTAKE, and because of their name CAR TOYS - I almost did not stop there. I thought it was a toy store. They are worth coming/calling Houston, Texas to change your plans. I am a Blackberry Storm 2 die-hard, but phone went out during thanksgiving holiday, so I had to change phones and it wasn't something that I was looking forward to. After talking and wasting way too many "useless" cell experts directly with Verizon, and others - These folks made it simple, easy, and cost-effective with some great "Black Friday" deals on top of the line cell phones/Samsung Galaxy S4. On top of that, they offered what none of the others had offered or suggested a solution to - They transfer our contacts to new cells right as we were purchasing them. In brief, for someone who hates to change their cell phone, I not only changed mine, but upgraded 3 or our families cell phones. Boston(Cell Expert even if he is an MIT grad), Kyle, New Store Manager and three of their colleagues were a great help. Class Act!! I had an issue that from all of my research was "unfix-able". Basically I had an aftermarket amplifier installed, by another place, that caused all the bells (turn signals, seat-belt, door ajar, etc) to become unbearably loud. Their install manager Shawn Bartlett took on the challenge. He reworked the system and essentially disabled all of the above mentioned alarms, which was fine by me. Better no alarms than the deafening noise I had prev. However, on my dive home it became apparent that I also lost my Bluetooth capabilities (On Star system). I gave Shawn a call and he told me to bring it back up at my convenience. Took it back to him the next morning and he dove back in. Not only was he able to restore the Bluetooth but he was also able to adjust the alarms down to a normal level while still maintaining the additional power i needed from the amplifier. Basically, he did what everyone said couldn't be done and did it with a professionalism that is a rare commodity. If you want excellent service from a true professional, I highly recommend Shawn and this store! read more

The Shanendoah location really impressed me. They went above and beyond from the start. I had a special offer that had expired but they helped me out and worked with me. They were friendly and did an amazing job on the interior of my King Ranch. It feels like I drove it off the factory line. Their detailer, Shawn, really took his time. They told me they wanted it for at least 5 hours and I was a bit skeptical why they needed it for that long, but they were still working on it right up until closing hours, (7 hours after drop off) and it looks, feels and smells like they took the full time to detail the interior. I'll be taking it back to do the exterior and possibly some sound upgrades. read more

Supremely awful in every way imaginable I took my car to have an alarm system added with electronic locks and trunk release. I had this done right before I moved so and a few months after installation the alarm would set itself off constantly around every half hour or so so much that my apt complex came to tell me I needed to get it fixed. So I drove the three hours back to this location to have them fix it. I dropped it off and they said they would call and waited for a call that never happened, I called them back after 3 days and asked if they were done yet, they said they looked at it the first day and couldn't find anything wrong and just lowered the sensitivity all the way. Why on earth would they not call and just waste my time!? I went back home but there was absolutely no difference. I drove back again and they claimed to do something else that also did absolutely nothing and once again did not bother ever calling me to tell me it was done. I drove back a third time and they blamed my non OEM back lights claiming they caused interference. After about a year the alarm stopped working completely and I was slightly relieved. However after about another 6 months the auto locks stopped working as well as the trunk. Worst of all now the trunk wont open at all since it was electronic to begin with. It has no key to open it either so I can not get in at all. Not only am I out $500 but now have to pay to get it fixed! I took it to a normal mechanic since clearly Car Toys has no idea what they are doing however they said they do not specialize in that and I would need to take it back to Car Toys or an equivalent. read more

4 STAR RATING? BALONEY - LOUSY!!!! THEFT + HORRIBLE EQUIPMENT - New Year's Day on January 1, 2015, we decided to try Sirius satellite radio. We went to this Car Toys location in The Woodlands/Conroe. They told us it would take 3 hours, and we were there for 4. We used the radio for 2 hours on our way home that evening, then didn't use again because we were out of town. The radio and wiring decided to burn up WHILE our vehicle was SIMPLY PARKED in our garage while we were gone. The radio equipment didn't work anymore, of course. And upon our return from being out of town, we realized that a $80 piece of equipment was missing from the same vehicle. We had wondered why they decided to throw away our coffee container while they were working on the radio. Now we know why. They used the container to conceal stealing the equipment. We had the radio system uninstalled and returned the equipment yesterday. BUT THEY STILL MADE A PROFIT because they refuse to reimburse for labor EVEN THOUGH THE LABOR ARE THIEVES!!! read more

Pure disappointment. I called to ask if they could install my Android head unit purchased from online. Initially it all sounded good... they agreed to take on the project and we set up an installation date. The head unit itself actually looked good after they were done but the steering wheel module I bought directly from them didn't work. In fact, the module manufacturer (PAC) told me later that was not the correct module. Despite the fact that Car Toys is supposed to be the expert, they proceeded to complain to me about not being able to program the module to the radio. I could tell after two different attempts at configuring this module that they were annoyed (likely because they weren't getting paid for the duplicate labor). That really became crystal clear based on how they talked to me over the phone. It felt like they wished this issue would just go away. Later I brought them a universal Maestro module from Best Buy that was the correct one but they still didn't get it working. I dropped my car off at 9 AM and they put it off until 6:30 PM, only to tell me that they needed more information from the head unit manufacturer. So $700 later, after a 2-week span, after 3 separate tries, and no steering wheel controls, I feel ripped off based on how I was treated and the fact that I didn't have full functionality. Car Toys is supposed to be a car audio specialty shop but they weren't willing to go the extra mile and put some research into getting the module to work. Since it wasn't as "plug and play" easy as they preferred, they gave up quickly. Since I didn't buy the radio from them, they blamed me for the technical problems. Don't go here... Their dislike for customers who bring other products in really shines through. If they couldn't complete the job professionally and treat me with dignity, they shouldn't have agreed to take on the project. In the end, they didn't make things right. In fact, after all that they still didn't care. I've been to multiple shops over the years across the country and I've never experienced this kind of poor service. read more
