This might be a fine place to take your car for routine maintenance but I wouldn't trust them with diagnosing an issue. We came in with a check engine light and they replaced the timing solenoid for $400. The light came back on during the drive home. The next day we took it back and it pulled the same code. Long story short the only problem was a clogged oil filter. They misdiagnosed and refused to refund any money for fixing an unnecessary part. read more

I had them remove and replace my motor mounts and trans mount on my Cad C T S and they broke the exhaust and didn't even tell me they tried to weld it . When I went to pick up the car, it was three times louder so they charged me $125. extra to weld it correctly. One of the mechanics even explained to me how they jacked up the engine without disconnecting the exhaust. read more

I had came by to have my oil panel , engine mount and radiator replace with parts I bought myself. They charged me 500 . It's a decent price don't get me wrong . But when I went to pick up my car it had a really bad smell inside my car . It smelled like dog poop . I'm not sure if they have stepped in it and stepped inside the car after , but the smell hasn't gone away . I checked everywhere underneath all the seats , the carpet , underneath the car . Nothing . Moments after my engine light had went on . My car also started jerking when I'd pressed on the pedal . When I took it back he told me everything was fine . I even asked him about the smell in the car, mind you my car has never smelled like that before . He told me he didn't know what the smell was. He checked it out and told me it was the air filter . The air filter wasn't the right size for the car . So he charged 25 to change it out . My car still jerks and it still stinks like dog poop. I did not have a good experience here . I should have studied the proper way a mechanic should fix my a/c. The young long haired mechanic said "its your condenser, see its leaking. Im a single working mother, i dont know this stuff, so I paid 500 and had to return 3 weeks later, since the cold air was completely gone. i go back and he complains after i asked for more freon. He whined after finding another leak and says the job will cost alot, but the work is too much for him with my kind of SUV. No A/c for my kids now and its been very hot! How sad that you scammed me, Car Tune of BP. Why cant you treat others with the same respect as the " good customers"? We had an issue where he could have easily charged us more or done more work and we wuoldn't have known, but he and his staff resolved the problem quickly and efficiently for an extremely reasonable charge. these guys are the best. we found them in an ad in the pennysaver. we've used them for anything from oil changes to replacing our transmission. they beat any price out there. they are only closed on sundays, their hours are usually 9am-5pm. its a small business but they mean business. our transmission was replaced within 24 hours and they dropped off and picked up my husband! one time our brake light wasn't working and they mickey moused it for FREE! what more could you ask for?! wish they would do auto body repair lol read more

Yelp needs to give the option to give a place ZERO stars! Wow, this place is horrible! Completely unethical and disrespectful! I printed out some Pennysaver coupons that would give me an express oil change for $18.95 (disposal fee included) and a free tire rotation. The only stipulations mentioned on the coupons were "multi-grade oil extra. Trucks and Vans extra" I drove up this morning and the lead guy (owner? manager?) said I have to wait about 15 minutes for an oil change. It was just two of them working and both of them barely spoke much English. About 10 minutes later, his employee motioned for me to pull my car into one of their bays. After I pulled in, I tried to show the employee my coupons and said, "I'd like this oil change and tire rotation." The employee just brushed it off, barely looking at it, and just barked, "Oil change is $25. Tire rotation is $10." I thought he misunderstood me, so I repeated myself, "No, no. I have a coupon from the Pennysaver. It says $18.95 for an oil change and free tire rotation." The boss and him both clearly heard me. He then took a good look at the coupons. Then the boss muttered something to him from his corner and the employee brushed off the coupons and just said, "No, we can't do." He didn't even look at me. He just shrugged me off and walked away as if I was a piece of crap. I asked, "Why not?" Employee said, "Not this car, we can't do." I asked again, "Not this car? Why not?" Employee said, "Just 'cuz boss said. We can't do." I said, "Okay. No thanks then. I'm backing out. This is false advertising guys!" I drove off. Now, keep in mind, my car is a 2006 Toyota Corolla, one of the most common and standard cars out there. There is no reason why my car should've been an exception. My truck needed work, just a water pump, fan belt and a coolant refill. I read tons of reviews and was amazed how silly people are. Just because a mechanic is nice to you, tells you the "truth" about something you know nothing about (why you took your car in anyway) doesn't mean a thing. Price PRICE PRICE and quality of work is all that matters. I checked out 5 places and got quotes from $600 to as low as $400. Labor fees are out of hand. A co-worker introduced me to Tan.. and I saved $$$$. (under $220) My 2001 is running great now. Simple fix, but he didn't try and sell me, give me any BS, wasn't sweet and nice, just honest and fixed the problem. The price was great, no ridiculous labor fee's and parts were a decent price and the work was fast and clean. When he said it would be done by 1.. it was done before 1 that was nice. read more

The owner is very sweet. He offered me one price and figured out that the repair might actually be worth more than the offer, but still held to his word of the original offer. In the end, he turned off my CHECK ENGINE light for free and passed me onto a friend of his so my car could pass Smog and so i could FINALLY get my tags and no more getting pulled over for me! I love this shop and I'm definitely referring EVERYONE I know to this place. They're honest. I mean HONEST. They won't CHARGE YOU FOR ADVICE. And INSPECTION IS FREE. Had a great experience at Car-Tune Auto Care on my first and recent visit. Brought in my high mileage Mazda 3 to have the clutch diagnosed since it was making a slight grinding noise. I was happy to meet one of the mechanics, Sonny, who diagnosed it and took the time to give me advice on price options to fix it. I've replaced the clutch before at a different shop and Sonny's quote was hundreds cheaper. So I left the car in his hands. He did a great job and the clutch is now very smooth. On the same day my Mazda was finished, I was having a misfire on my Honda Civic. I left the Honda and picked up the Mazda. They diagnosed the Civic, called me with their suggestions for approval and did a major tune up on the Civic which fixed the misfire. Both cars are now on the road! Based on this experience: friendly service, good prices and timely and efficient handling of my vehicles, I recommend this mechanic shop. They are kind of hidden in an industrial cul-de-sac in Buena Park but I'm glad I found them! Thanks to Sonny and the owner, Tan! I plan to come back when I need repairs. read more

Very helpful and friendly service was provided. Called around and was quoted an affordable for rear brake rotors and pads to be done. Came in and they honored the price that was quote. A few hours later a brought my friends car to have the rear cambers checked. They did a thorough inspection from hood to trunk and gave us a reasonable estimate. Found this place and had a lousy experience. They replaced the front axle and seal but re-used the old gasket. It started leaking, When I took the car again, they said it was leaking from somewhere else (distributor cap) and would cost me more to get the new leak repaired. DO NOT get sucked in with low price. I'm surprised nobody else has had any problems with these guys recently. I used them for some minor work years ago and had no issues. A very different experience this time. I took my car to this establishment for an oil change and tune-up because of a deal they advertised on their website. When I got there, the quote they gave me was significantly more than advertised. The owner said that the spark plugs required for my car (Toyota corrolla 2003) had to be specially ordered from the toyota dealership and costed more. Not one for confrontation I dismissed it and allowed him to do the work. After I left I remembered that my friend used to tune up my car all of the time and always used regular auto-shop plugs. I never had an issue with my car using them. When I approached the owner about this he simply said "yes, but we don't recommend it.". They had already done the work so I was forced to pay. About two weeks after this service I noticed my car was leaking oil. I took it to an auto shop in Santa Ana; one recommended and trusted by my father. When the mechanic looked at my car he said that the gasket on the oil pan had been tampered with and purposely damaged. He also said that the entire oil-pan would have to replaced and that it would cost about $350.00. I returned to Car - Tune & Lube with my receipt to confront them about it. The owner denied any wrong doing of course and said that the damage had been done prior to them working on it during the previous oil change. Prior to going to Car - Tune & Lube I was going to the same Walmart for all of my oil changes for several years. I never had a problem with my vehicle when I used Walmart's car service. It only started leaking after using Car - Tune & Lube's service. I mentioned my situation to my sister not long after the incident because she had used Car - Tune &Lube for an oil change. She said that the same thing had happened to her. She took her truck to a different shop for an oil leak... The culprit was a damaged oil pan gasket. read more

I used to take my car here for oil change and they were ok. I made the mistake of having them check my A/C and they recharged the freon for $175 and took 2 hours before completing. I never really noticed the AC getting cold after so I took it to another shop weeks later for a second opinion. They said the compressor was leaking and that no amount of freon charging will make my AC cold. They said the only solution was to replace the compressor but the shop advised me against it given how expensive compressors are on an old car. Long story short, I didn't need the freon charge Car Tune charged me for and the Meineke shop were a took for a 2nd opinion would have only charged me $75. Never ever going back to Car Tune again. read more

During a timing belt install on my Honda Odyssey I encountered a stubborn bolt (crank pulley). After running out of (safe) ideas for loosening it, I called around to see if a shop would be willing to do it for me. After a few booked or unwilling candidates I called Car Tune & Smog. Due to a language barrier it was difficult to convey what I needed, but after the initial confusion they agreed to do it. Whoever I spoke to was friendly. When I got there, two employees approached me and asked me what I needed. I explained to them my situation again and, after making it clear that I didn't want them to install the timing belt, just break a bolt loose, one of them told me they couldn't do it. I told him about my phone conversation but he replied they still couldn't do it for liability reasons (the bolt could come loose when I drove away). I said there's no liability involved if they put the bolt back and re-tighten it not as tight, and we went on back and forth for a few minutes. At this point I was irritated. I understand why a shop wouldn't want to help me, but they could have told me over the phone, or at least apologize for not doing so. Instead I was spoken to condescendingly. The man I spoke with treated me as if I were child (I am 25). He scoffed at me and questioned my competency. I told him I've swapped and rebuilt engines, and have done a full OBDII conversion... I think I replace a timing belt. At this point he finally agreed to do it for $50. I asked him if he could do it for 30 since it's a 10 minute job, max. He scoffed again and told me he had to raise the car, remove the plastic guard, pull out "special tools" (impact) etc. I told him all but the last was unnecessary because I had already removed the plastic guard. He gave me a "whatever" look and took my keys. He drove up, turned the wheel, grabbed his impact, loosened the bolt, and re-tightened it with an electric impact. Took 3 minutes. After seeing how easy it was the man just told me to pay $20. I paid, thanked him (got no response) and left. At the end of the day they did what I asked for a reasonable price, and within a reasonable time frame. For this they deserve at least 2 stars. However it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had at an auto repair shop, and I've had many. Instead of arguing with me and assuming I was an ignoramus they could have given me the benefit of the doubt, heard me out, and made $20 in 5 minutes instead of 15. If you take your car to Car Tune & Smog for "normal" repairs you probably won't have to converse with anyone for more than 10 seconds, so you'll probably be okay. However, not only will they never get my business again; from now on I will go out of my way to badmouth this specific shop as a pandora's box of disrespect and contempt. If you value customer service, please, stay away. read more

I honestly am disappointed with this auto care shop. I went to go replace my spark plugs and my car got worse! I was calm and tried to explain to them my car was not experiencing symptoms until you guys replaced my spark plugs. They ignored me and made me feel worthless. They did not offer to look at my car again or check the wires. Today o went to another place and charged me 90$ to say they put the wrong spark plug wires in wrong. This place wanted to charge me additional for replacing the coil ignition and the spark plug wires. They wanted to hustle me for more money. Although they are cheap in price, I would stay away from these mechanics. I would play extra for better services and for proper repairs. So sad people would do this. Also, my mother in law came to get a "free" diagnostic and charged her 25$!! Story short, they were unable to help her out with her car situation. Worst service ever. Made me leave my car then claimed they didn't have record of previous work done. Told them the date due to me looking at my bank statements and they found the receipt suddenly. They told me they would fix the problem only to comeback 6 hours latter after they called to say it was ready to go and that they fixed it (they just bypassed the sensor) Only to find out additional work needs to be done but they don't have time to fix it.
