This is how businesses lose customers! I took out an appointment for an oil change. The man at reception said I had to leave the car for a few hours!!! Because he had his own line and the cars were already there, and mine was online, so it didn't count. This has never happened before. Who really likes bringing their car in for service? its usually an inconvenience But honestly - CarX is my place for brakes - since I purchased brakes from them years ago. As long as I bring them back within the mileage/time requirements - my brake service is completely free. So I'm kind of stuck on CarX - they do well on brakes. Definitely call ahead even if you made the online reservation - as I think they may be short-staffed - could take longer than expected to get the vehicle back. read more

Okay dont come here for service in your engine. We brought our car to get checked and they told us it was the head gasket and that it was going to cost 3-4k dollars. Our mechanic checked the car and it turns out it was just the radiator. I got it fixed under $300. I knew something wasnt right when they said it was leaking both oil and coolant. Those are 2 separate places in the engine to leak. Liers who just want to rob your money. read more

Loved my experience at Car X as always! Just Tires tried over-charging me for new brakes and I called Car X and talked to Jose Campos who helped me out right away. He gave me a ballpark quote over the phone and when I pulled into the lot he came right outside to grab my car and get started on it. He thoroughly inspected the car with his team and talked me through the various issues with it. He let me know what was necessary and added coupons to the overall cost. He saved me 500$ and was done fixing it within 30 mins! The entire squad of guys were awesome and I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I went to Car X with a lot of issues going on with my car. They diagnosed everything and gave me a reasonable price. Within the next week my car started telling me the engine was overheating, often. We have been customers of CarX for at least 13 years. Since management has changed it has gone downhill. Their customer service is awful. We bought tires 2 years ago and the tires we bought were 75k tires. After 22k we were told we need new tires AND that the warranty doesn't cover it. Absolutely ridiculous and highway robbery. Will never take any vehicle I own to this place ever again and I will never recommend this shop to anyone! I brought my car in a month ago, asking them to check EVERYTHING! My check engine light was on and there was a funny creaking and groaning noise coming from the front drivers side. I asked them SEVERAL times to please check it over. I also mentioned the alignment was off and if they could please fix that. The manager assured me everything looked fine, that I just needed new breaks and rotors. The alignment would be fixed while they were replacing the breaks and rotors. He also said they took care of the check engine light issue. Great! Get the work done, dropped a bunch of money, pick up my car, alignment is NOT done and the next day my check engine light comes back on. I needed to go to the air emissions place to get my car tested so I could get new plates...well that didn't happen with the light coming back on! I got pulled over that night for my plates!!! So thanks for that! Flash forward a few weeks later, and I have my kids in the car, it's a whopping 8 degrees out and as I turn the corner (slowly because it'ssnowing and slick out), my front driver side end hits the ground! That noise I was telling them about, the one I asked them over and over to look at...that part finally snapped and left my kids and I stranded in freezing weather!! This is not something that happens over night! I don't know what these "professionals" are doing but it's not thier job!! read more

HONESTY trumps all. I ended up here because I woke up one day and my car was dead. Would not start. After finally pushing it out of the garage and getting a jump, I drove it right over here to get it checked out, assuming without question I'd need a new battery. I left with my Dad to get some lunch, and came back to get my car. Upon my return, the guy (i WISH i remembered his name, and I think he was the Manager) pulled my car up and proceeded to tell me that I must've just left a light on, or the door open overnight, and that now that the car's been running for a while it'll be fine!!! I don't need ANY repairs!! I was floored. I am a single woman (and a single parent on top of that!), and taking my car to any car shop is terrifying to me - because it always ends up costing a gazilion dollars. So to have him be HONEST with me, and not try to steal my money just absolutely made my day. I really appreciated his being straight-up. And in knowing that this place is honest, they've earned my trust. They'll be the first place I come moving forward. Absolute KUDOS to you, sir. I should have known better than to go to a 'chain' car repair joint but it came recommend. After the transmission fluid was changed it died in about a thousand miles. I was told by a general motors mechanic that my particular car must use fluid specifically for my car which typically places like this use a generic 'one size fits all' fluid. In fairness I can't say what type of fluid was installed and maybe the whole thing is a strange coincidence but that trans costs $3700 to be replaced and it was a low mileage car. read more

I came here a little over a week ago to get new brakes and rotors, so the mechanic told me I need to get calipers and do a brake flush which I told him ok. I don't know much about cars and he told me the calipers would be the most expensive part of the fix. In the end just for my 2 back brakes, rotors, 2 calipers and brake fluid flush they charged me $975... I went and told me brother who knows about cars how much I had paid and he told me they ripped me off then I called a few other friends that are mechanics and one who distributes car parts to shops and they all agreed I was overcharged by at least $400. I'm never going back and their are many others who told me they overcharge. Good luck stealing from your customers. read more

had 2 mufflers installed and a oil change done they stripped the bolt on my oil pan now I have to get it pumped out from the top. also when the new mufflers where installed they didn't weld any new connections to hold it in place. the used the old rusted peices. to connect didnt last past one winter. the mufflers rattle at idle and at weird intervals while driving. read more

My car's check engine light was on and the car was coming to a stall, I have no idea what struck my mind and I took it to these guys. They changed one part...did some service...charged me 400 bucks...I drove the car home...same problem...came back to them next morning...they kept the car for the whole day...did something and said car is good now...I picked up the car and same problem again...like this it went for 2 weeks. Then they managed to find the issue and changed another part...charged me 300 bucks again...I drove back...check engine light came back....I drove it back to them....and they kept digging for 2 more weeks....the issue still persists...I am so frustrated now. I spent 700 bucks for no improvement in my car...keep the pain of dropping the car every morning and being without a car for days. These guys do not have the expertise, except oil change and tire rotations, these guys cant figure out anything, they read a manual and perform trial and error on the vehicles. Absolutely not recommended engine problems or check engine light or failed emissions. read more

This Car-X location has been wonderful. I was having my car serviced at a different Car-x but when they switched management that location went downhill. The Wheeling location was able to fix everything the other location did wrong. They fit us into their schedule at the last minute and went above and beyond to get the parts needed to fix my car, even staying after close to make sure i would have my car back. Update: this location turned out to be as bad as the carpentersville location. Took my car in to fix what they didn't fix the 1st time and left with my sensors not working. Wanted to charge me an additional $300 to fix the sensors they broke. CAR-X- never again!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I got an oil change from them and a tire rotation and then got a quote for some repairs. They were professional but then my wheel was tilted to the right as I was driving straight, and if I wanted to straighten it out, then I would swerve to the left.. I called and complained and the owner was professional on the phone but did not give me the answer I was looking for, basically said he could switch the tires back and that was it. They charged me double of the repairs, so i found a new place and I paid so much less!!! I won't be ever going back to them. They messed up my car...and did not admit to it. Understanding the time constraints she was under, he and his team worked diligently to get the repairs done timely. I was hoping to give zero stars, but that's not an option. This place is full of crap, they told me that I needed an oxygen sensor and it was going to cost me close to $400 unless the warranty company was going to pay for it then they would have charged the warranty company less. What's with that, why charge me more? Anyway the problem they said that existed did not exist a clamp just needed to be tightened. So these guys thought they could take advantage of me, which I was ready to have them do the work until I found out otherwise. I will be reporting them to my warranty company.
