I've almost never been to a restaurant that everyone in a large group love their food. Well this is the place. Not only does it have a great vibe with the music but it also has truly excellent food.!! There were 16 people in the party and everyone raved about their food. ! Full of flavor and a nice portion. My husband said it was the best lasagna he has ever had. And we've eaten in Little Italy in New York. This is worth a drive even if you don't live in the area. I will return for more. Because we had a good experience the first time with Cara Mia and we enjoyed the food, we thought we would try it again. The food was very good, but the service was subpar tonight and it was a little embarrassing since we invited our pastor and his wife to this place. We ran out of their delicious bread (our server didn't ask if we wanted more), my pastor ran out of water, and I ran out of coke but we didn't get refills until after we finished our meals. We waited 20 minutes for our desserts and we asked our server if they were coming out, and she said they would be out shortly. We waited another 10 minutes and my pastor seemed ready to give up on the desserts and cancel them. They finally came out. When our server handed us the bill, she didn't apologize for our desserts coming out so late and gave us a quick "thank you" and ran off. Our server gave more attention to the table of 8 people next to us who were having a birthday party and it was obvious because they got bags along with their takeout boxes and we were just given takeout boxes. I have mixed feelings about Cara Mia. First, the good stuff: Very friendly service. Comfortable seating. Excellent calamari with great marinara. Respectable bread with room-temp butter. Our shrimp / scallop special dish with angel hair pasta was very good and plenty large enough to split between two (borderline too salty tho). Now the not-so-good-stuff: The Caesar's salad was a bit sweet and gloppy and lacked the necessary bite. The sea bass on roasted corn had some damnable sweet sauce on top like a Hawaiian glaze -- really sickeningly sweet and absolutely not Italian (they immediately re-served with the glaze on the side but the corn still tasted like there was sweet stuff mixed in (the sea bass itself however was perfectly done)). The live band on Sunday evening was way, way too loud like we're in a karaoke lounge so that's the end of conversation. The specials were considerably more expensive than the regular menu items so you should ask before taking that credit card leap. Overall: If you're selective (sticking to pasta) you can get an excellent meal at Cara Mia's and also think you've been transported right back to a South Jersey lounge. read more

Be careful dining here. The older hostess lost my credit card after charging us. As we patiently waited for them to try finding the card, the hostess came back three times to give excuses without a single full apology for the inconvenience. She did begin to, saying "I'm sor-", and then gave more excuses instead of an honest apology. She even tried to give us someone else's credit card. (Larry H, I recommend you cancel your card.) In addition, she admitted this has happened before where they lost a customer's credit card. They never found my credit card. Honestly, the food was okay, not amazing, but not terrible either. For the inconvenience and anxiety from the hostess losing my credit card, I would not recommend it. This might not happen to you, but I didn't think it would happen to me either, so it's still a possibility they could lose your card. Save yourself the headache and go to another Italian restaurant that won't be so careless with your credit cards. Now I have to cancel my card and change all my travel bookings with a new credit card number. read more

This is my and my wife's second experience at Cara Mia. This time my wife and I brought our daughter with us. During our first visit, we felt the service was lacking. Our waitress brought the food and only returned once to check on us; it even took her an inordinate about of time to bring the check. In her case the restaurant was busy and understaffed, and for some reason she just took forever to bring us bread. On this second visit, I was just sure the experience would be better, but NO it wasn't; my food was worse and so was the waitress service. This time the waitress explained why they were reluctant to immediately serve bread when customers are first seated and with their salads. According to her, they fear people will fill up on bread and not order main dishes from the menu. Even worse, after she delivered our food, she disappeared. After I went over to the bar and interrupted the bartender and another waitress socializing with a couple of ladies at the bar for to-go boxes for our leftovers, the bartender indicated that our waitress had to attend a meeting with the management. She didn't even return to collect payment for the bill. The other waitress who was at the bar with the bartender finally brought the check. The oeiginal waitress suddenly appeared as we were about to leave. This time I really didn't enjoy the food; the chicken parmigiana was dry and overcooked. Needless to say, I left no tip, and I doubt we'll be returning. $142.00 for dried out parmigiana and horrific service that includes the waitress disappearing just ain't what I consider getting my money's worth. Shame on Cara Mia for this treatment of my family abd me. read more

Went on a Saturday night and I am truly shocked at how high the ratings is for this place. We went, ordered a margarita pizza and the butternut squash ravioli (which I was super excited about). While we waited they brought water and bread with butter. The butter was gritty and the bread was like ciabatta bread but spongy. We LOVE bread; We didn't finish our rolls. When the food came out, it looked great. Unfortunately the ravioli tasted like fresh (which is good) hardly cooked, unseasoned butternut squash. I sent it back and got spaghetti with meatballs instead ($5+ for meatballs is shocking). The meatballs were really good - so I guess worth it - but the spaghetti sauce it's self was underwhelming and had a slightly odd taste. The pizza had a ton of cheese, tomatoes and basil (not fresh/cooked). The crust was not great tho. While the waiter was nice, he also ghosted us for quite a while. The highlight of the meal was the gentleman running around topping everyone's water. And during the whole time you could hear the wailing of karaoke coming from the bar - yikes! $44 for the two plates. We definitely will not be coming back. read more

2nd time here. The ambiance is good. They had jazz musicians which made it nice to have dinner with entertainment. The service was good considering how busy they are at 6:30 pm. I am having the same shrimp parmigiana as last time because it was absolutely delicious. They serve bread and butter while you wait. The bread was yummy and warm. Our server is so nice and personable considering how full the restaurant is during dinner time. We ordered the Chianti to compliment our meal. I would recommend making reservations to ensure you have a nice seat overlooking the entertainment. A great place for date night. read more

Delicious Italian food. Every Christmas our church goes here for a Christmas dinner and it's so good. We always get the prosciutto and calamari for appetizers and it's never disappoints.
