We had dinner tonight! I had the veal Parmesan. My mom had a lobster roll and our friend had veal- eggplant parmigiana. Our drinks were great! Our waitress Cheryl was excellent! Cannolis and coffee or dessert it was excellent!

Jumbo stuffed shrimp. Gross gross grosssss

By far the worst experience I had in my life! The place looked and smelled like a nursing home but we still decided to give it a try. The service was horrible it took 10 minutes to get our waters. The food was disgusting and what makes it worse is that it wasn't cheap ! I paid $30 for jumbo stuffed shrimp and the stuffing was hard and looked like human feces(picture attached). I don't recommend this place to anyone.

I really want to love Carbone's. I ordered takeout on a Friday night. It was ready within 40 minutes which was good but the food wasn't as good. The food is ok, but nothing is executed well. The fish and chips are not crispy or crunchy. The fries are soggy and the fish batter is flavorless. I like the pizza. It's simple, but it has a tasty sauce, good cheese and crispy crust. I also had the strawberry shortcake which consisted of one of the pound cake shells from the supermarket, unhulled mushy strawberries and canned whipped cream. It was nostalgic and tasty. This is an old fashioned establishment; respectable, reliable and great for families with kids.

Was hoping for some old school Italian food and had low expectations for the ambiance. It smells stale and gross when you first walk in. Hostess stand was a disaster. People in the bar were hammered. Our waitress was very oversharing with her life story. Everything tasted like garbage. Their homemade cheese served in a plastic cup with 6 Ritz crackers was tasteless. The meatballs were both dry and mushy served with some sort of marinara. Prime rib was way overdone. Pizza crust soggy. Chix parm bland and dry. Wine opened at the bar and we couldn't cork it because they don't have the correct bags. Don't bother unless you have zero taste buds and want a history lesson in bad life decisions from your waitress.

Growing up in a town like Hopkinton, MA you take pleasure in the little things. We weren't much for chain restaurants in fact the only name brand eatery (or something close to one) was a Brigham's Ice Cream Shop. So going out to eat either meant you were in Milford or Framingham/Natick or you were at Carbone's. A traditional Italian/American family restaurant that I can remember attending various times as a kid. Though I can't promise my childhood nostalgia will kick in and effect the review, I'll do my best to leave most of it at the door considering I have eaten here a handful of times in the last 3 years. It's a pretty typical menu. Salads, pizza, sandwiches, pasta...to be honest there's nothing really to note in terms of anything you NEED To try. It's more about the uh, atmosphere. Yeah that's it. Okay okay okay...the place isn't all that great. but It's not bad either. It just is. The specials are usually worth trying (shepherd's pie is actually really really good) and if you love the feeling of being a place with "history", you'll have a nice chuckle. Still the water glasses are too small, the service slightly slow and a little rough around the edges but that's typical New England backwoods "hospitality". If you're driving by or want to drive a little out of your way when you're looking for something easy on the brain and average on the tongue, this is the place to be. A little taste of my childhood poured into a lukewarm cup of the soup of the day, served with a half smile. Perfect? No. Endearing? Maybe.

The "tinted water glass that freaked out MattH". Really? lol

No, it's not a "fancy" restaurant, but the food was solid home style good and our service was spot on. (and might I add ... spotlessly clean)! Come on ... it's been here since the 30's, they're doing something right. Anyway ... They have a huge selection of dishes and specials and even after showing up on the late side of the evening, the staff was friendly and attentive. Next time I want to try the pizza. It looked awesome!!

Not high end but some of the dishes are great. My favorite is the combined chicken and eggplant parmesan which is some of the best I've had.

Over the years, the quality went downhill, and ownership announced in late June '23 that they would be closing temporarily and reopen with a "new and improved" Hola. I was excited to check it out tonight Unfortunately, it was hard to find anything improved about the new Hola. The chips and salsa remain very good, and we had plenty of time to enjoy them as our food took a *long* time to come out, despite being just a few customers on a Monday night. Two of the three of us ordered Baja Fish tacos ($17) but they messed up the order and brought Shrimp Gober tacos instead, so we had to wait even longer for them to make the actual food we ordered. Some of the fish tacos were served with very unappealing, old browned avocado, while others had pathetic tiny slivers of fresher avocado. The De Asado tacos ($16) were sparsely filled with super dry meat, accompanied by dry, crispy rice. Not sure if these were just sitting drying out in the kitchen while they remade the fish tacos, or if this is typical. The "avocado sauce" listed on the menu was non-existent, and the main flavor came from using the leftover salsa from our chips to moisten the tacos. Nobody ever came to our table to refill waters or ask if we were enjoying our meal - I really miss the old staff, who were warm and inviting, and seemed genuinely eager to please. If this is the new "improved" Hola, I will mourn the demise of the old Southborough gem that Hola was, and cautiously seek out other Mexican restaurants in the area.

We went on a Thursday night around 7 pm and the parking lot was pretty full. There's ample seating on the first floor but we sat on the second floor. There's also a small outside patio. We actually had to order through the bartender. But food came out fast. I got the grilled haddock with green beans, although they mistakenly made it with broccoli instead. I'm not picky so i didn't mind. The haddock was well made but it barely had any flavor so they need to season it more. It also smelled fishy so I'm not sure how fresh it was? Overall average food even considering it's pub food. But it was a nice place to sit down, relax and converse with ur coworkers or friends.

I sat down at…read morethe bar and waited about 3-4 minutes to be asked for my drink selection even though there was two bar tenders present. I ordered the Derby Lemonade, one of their specialty drinks from their menu, and the bar tender had never heard of it and wasn't even sure how to make it. He made a nice attempt but failed miserably because there was not one ounce of lemonade flavor but I drank it anyway. For appetizer I ordered the cheese and cracker platter which was a feast for at minimum 3 (see the pictures I posted). They cut small blocks of the cheese and give us large round crackers. The grapes were good and seem to be fresh. The other cheeses were good I just find i hard to eat cheese and crackers when the cheese only covers 1/3 of the cracker and one bite causes the cracker to break into several pieces. For my lunch entree I had the chicken pesto flatbread. It came square shaped with lots of arugula and unmelted parmesan cheese on top. The pesto was ok but the chicken bites were overcooked and difficult to chew. The size was good but the overall flavor was less than desirable but tolerable because I was so hungry. I have been to several Doubletrees and Hilton hotels over the past couple of years and this one has the worst bistro or dining that I have experienced. No, I did not approach management about it as I was not looking for free food and one person's opinion won't change anything. I just won't go eat here again. There staff needs ALOT of education on their specialty drinks and their cooks need to make 4-5 star-like food for what they charge.

How can you go wrong with New England crab cakes in Mass? Well, I found out. My crab cakes were soggy and tasted of filler. One portion was especially firm, as if it had been microwaved. Not sure I could find the crab meat in the limp patty. Somewhere in heaven a poor crab weeps for what he sacrificed his body for. I weep, too. Then came the salad. Chef salad. I think it was made by the infamous South Park Chef for local elementary school. It has been since 5th grade that I had such a mediocre Chef salad served to me in any dining facility. Salad greens tasted off. The sliced lunch meats would have gone home for the dog if I were not on travel. The bacon was cooked. The best I can say. Avocado was devoid of flavor. Waiter asked if I was full. I let him know that I was disappointed. He told me a story about how the crab cakes are prepared. I asked if they came from the freezer. He told me they are made on site, pan fried, and then put in the oven. I duuno. Still think that a freezer and microwave are more involved than he lets on. I will not eat dinner there again.
