We visit La Cantina every time we visit the east coast - my wife has been meeting up with her girls here for years and years - its tradition. The salad dressing is great - I buy bottles of it every year to be able to have at home. The typical stuff - chicken parm, pasta, eggplant parm, its all great. The girls were really happy with their choices. My kids had chicken tenders and butter pasta, which they enjoyed. I had the seafood risotto which was not very good. We've ordered takeout from this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed it, but this was our first time dining in. While the food was mostly good, we weren't fans of the robots that deliver drinks and meals. They play music as they move around, which made it hard to hold a conversation at the table. The chicken parm was delicious and the Alfredo was solid, but unfortunately, the chicken piccata was a miss. The chicken tasted like it had been reheated and had some odd, inedible pieces. Ive been eating here for years. The food is consistently good. My go to item is the Chicken Parm. I would like to see a little more cheese and sauce but flavor is good. The staff is always friendly and kids will get a kick out of the robot that can show you to your table or deliver drinks and desserts. Restaurant is well lit, quiet enough to have a conversation without raising your voice. If I could give this place a zero I absolutely would. A waste of $30 to be delivered. The chicken is not seasoned with anything but potentially chicken broth, it tastes like chicken from chicken noodle soup. If i had to pick one place to eat out the rest of my life this might be it. I've had takeout from here before but haven't dined in until now. A no frills Italian place is usually where you find the best food right? Correct. We got the chicken parm with spaghetti and chicken cacciatore with linguini. All meals come with an absolutely delicious salad and fresh bread and butter. Prices are incredibly reasonable - $20-25 for entrees and $8-12 for desserts. We also got a bottle of their house Chianti which was very good for the $25 a bottle price. The parking lot is across the street from the restaurant - but very easy to park and walk over. read more

Last night I went to La Cantina restaurant to sit down and have dinner with two friends which I never ever do. I usually order the pizza because it's excellent. I sat down and went to order chicken Marcella. I have a sensitivity to MSG when I asked the waitress to go ask the chefs she did as I asked. She came back and they said it was in everything basically chicken Parmesan chicken piccata and I couldn't believe it. I know they put MSG in Fanny's dressing, I don't know if Fanny did that 100 years ago but anyway we ate a dinner I had fish after that. I met the manager and I had a conversation with him about the MSG and he said yes, we sprinkle it in the food and he was bragging about how wonderful it is that it's a flavor enhancer how dare an Italian restaurant sprinkle monosodium glutamate into chicken masala to make it taste good who would admit that? I have been living in Framingham for roughly 6 years but this is my first time visiting Fanny's Italian Kitchen, also known as La Cantina Italiana. I had their Chicken Parm linguini pasta, one of their Tuesday specials dishes, for just $14 (note that specials are for dine-in only). It was one of the best Chicken Parm pasta I have had in a while. Generous amount of chicken and breadcrumb was not too thick. I packed my leftovers back for dinner the next day! I have been missing out big time! Great value for money, overall. La Cantina is a great Italian place if you want something more old school. With generous portions and a helpful staff, it's a great place to go in large groups (or in my case, by myself). Food (4/5): The food is very generous. I thought a soup, appetizer (Calamari), and a main (Shrimp Scampi) would be enough, but I could only finish half of it. Price was decent, around 60 ish dollars. I really liked the soup and appetizer, but the shrimp scampi was a bit overcooked and too creamy for my tastes. Service (4/5): Service was overall great, and they even have a robot going around! I still had to wait a bit for my waiter to come and take my order however. Ambiance (4/5): If you like old school Italian restaurants with carpeted floors and large tablecloths, you'll feel right at home here. However, the vintage feel might feel too dated for those with more modern tastes. Overall a great place to go, though I would recommend it if you had a party to go with. read more

Another very positive experience at one of my old time go-to Italian restaurants. Went there over the weekend after a family event and was not disappointed. Had the eggplant parm. Though the kitchen had run out of angel hair pasta, the linguine was great, too. Eggplant was crispy and cooked to perfection. We also had a large antipasto salad for the table and all enjoyed. The little robot that brought our drinks was slightly irritating, though, as we were trying to have a quiet conversation in our booth, and it would arrive playing loud, high energy music. I grew up going to La Cantina and after living out of state for many years we returned to my childhood favorite to pick up some take out tonight. Everything was absolutely delicious and just as I remembered! Salad: the most yummy Italian dressing (as good if not better than Ken's - another fav) Eggplant parm with spaghetti: crisp, not at all greasy with the perfect sauce/cheese ratio Chicken parm: same as above with sides of potato (amazing) and broccoli. Even the bread & butter packaged in cute individual servings was very good and fresh. Oh, La Cantina.. Such fond memories eating here growing up. I've always had great food here. The portion size (on some dishes) seemed a little smaller than what I remember when I stopped in this past weekend. I got the chicken piccata and it was pretty good...lightly breaded tender chicken with the perfect amount of capers and just the right amount of lemon. Also had a cup of the passatelli soup which was honestly too small... definitely go for the bowl!! Other people in my party had chicken parm (HUGE portion!) and chicken marsala... no complaints at all! Gone are the days when the salad used to come in a huge bowl that you'd pass around the table.
