Ill say if they had their cars(used) a little cleaner in the inside I would have just stayed and saved a couple of trips to other dealerships. Their cars are price the lowest. Very happy with my Mazda, took me three months to decide on a car. I went to seaside Cardinale and can say a complete waste of time felt rushed so I drove back and made a deal, their prep time and signing of paperwork is fast. They listen to my offers and respectfully replied and offered similar cars. What I liked the most is that they where honest about their cars no pressure NO gimmics. read more

I purchased a used Jeep, from Mazda back in 2008. With the purchase of a car this dealership offers free car washes& free oil changes for a lifetime. WOW! You would think great deal right? WRONG, so I have serviced my Jeep about 6 times and thought all was ok. NOPE this last time I went May 2011, Chuck the service manager reported to me that oil was leaking into my transmission, suggested I go to Jeep services and see if my car still had warranty. I did as Chuck suggested turned out my warranty had expired so I went ahead and made an appt. with Jeep and turns out I was told by Jeep that who ever did my oil change didn't do a good job, and left the plug loose, hence the leakage. Had to end up having plug tighten, oil pan sealed and filter replaced all totaling over 300$. I have learned my lesson and will never again take my car to get serviced at Mazda! Worst warranty repair service ever. Gave Cardinale Salinas a chance because my Mazda dealer changed ownership. Do Not try to tell their service manager Erica anything about auto repair because "her mechanics know everything with their 25+years of experience" [she must be referring to those constantly cussing anything and everything guys, who are certainly not concerned (at all) that people in their waiting room have to hear this...] now that's a bad experience, and unlike any repair shop I've ever been to. When asked, I told them how to diagnose the intermittent transmission main pump noise since they understandably are not transmission specialists (transmission warranty replacement needed) they got pissy and service manager Erica returned my car refusing to work on it, and even canceled my free car rental (that had been previously agreed upon) so that I would have to pay for the 1-day rental cost. Hmmm...Maybe they should have asked if the customer also has 25+ years auto repair experience, which I do. I was just happy to get my car back without damage and never see them again. My car was repaired at another shop and that brings a genuine smile to my face, unlike the arrogant one Cardinale impressed on me. Let this dealer listen to their own cussing employees, I won't. I purchased a 2016 Mazda CX-5 in November, 2015. I have had nothing but problem after problem with this car. The battery keeps dying. About two months ago, I had to fight to get a new battery. The Service Dept. kept telling me that they had charged the battery overnight and it was fine. No No No. No one seems to get to the bottom of this. The car has 5000 miles and this morning same story. I have left two messages this afternoon with the Mazda Service Advisor and no return call. I cannot call a tow truck and simply have the car taken there with no prior notice. I am so frustrated with this car. It seems dependable for awhile and I relax then BOOM same problem I am a 72 yr old grandmother who lives in the country, picks up grandchildren a couple of times a week and depend on my car. I hate to lose money on this car but.......I cannot run the risk of it quitting me all the time read more

We were referred to a Mazda dealership by our mechanic to repair a timing cover leak that our mechanic was unable to do. We chose Cardinale Mazda because it is the closest location to us. We took our car there, requested a timing cover repair. They had our car for 4 1/2 WEEKS, at which time they told us the car DID NOT need a timing cover repair, but it needed a new purge valve and a new oil pan gasket. Two parts that we already had replaced on the car a few months prior. We explained that, to which they said,the parts failed because they were not Mazda parts. We trusted them, and authorized repair. They charged us $1090 for that repair. When we finally got our car back, we only had it for one hour and the check engine light came on again and it was running worse than it was when we initially dropped it off with them. We took it back, they had the car two weeks. They told us it needed the timing cover resealed! The very thing they told us it did not need the first time we took it to them! They also told us it needed an ignition coil replaced. We once again trusted them and authorized the work. They charged us $1700 for that repair. We got it back and 2 days later the check engine light was back on and a week later it was leaking oil again! We then began closely looking at all the paperwork they had given us after the repairs they did. The first time they had it, the mechanic noted it was misfiring, and could possibly be the spark plugs, but DID NOT tell us that when we picked it up OR further inspect it as to why it was misfiring, instead, they sent it home to us knowing it was misfiring! When we took the car back to our mechanic to pull the check engine code it was the warm up catalyst below threshold. In a nutshell, because the engine coil was bad and we drove it back to Mazda not knowing, it did damage to the catalytic converter! So, in addition to the $2800 we shelled out at Cardinale Mazda, we are now faced with a costly catalytic converter repair. Oh, and by the way, the oil leak that NOBODY could figure out? Next time, Mazda, check the engine mounts! The engine mount was leaking oil! Yes, the engine mounts house oil! You should probably know EVERYTHING about your cars before you pride yourself in your certification and skill! They get 1 star for at least providing us with a free loaner car throughout the whole ordeal! read more

Bad experience, especially following a stellar experience across the lot at Cardinale VW....Mazda accepted a deposit on a car to hold it until it was ready for test drive and sale...called us 2 days later to say the car had been sold to someone else. I spoke to the Fleet Mgr. Art Sabiniano regarding my trade-in and he expected me to take a $7000 loss on my trade-in, which was a new car I had only a little more than a month. Previously, he had given me this pitch about being able to give me the best deal. In my opinion his so-called offer was an insult and equivalent to a slap in the face. Hey this was my second car purchased from this dealership. Went looking for a pre-owned vehicle and found it. The salesman (Art) was respectful and not pushy. Also Hector, the manager did a good job. Ultimately, the deal went through on the terms I was looking for. This car will be with me for awhile- but when I'm ready for another I plan to go back. Have had this car for one year now and the service I've received in the service dept- oil changes, etc has been great. Came in there because we were in the area. Serious about getting a Mazda. They had a nice one, though it was newer and more costly than I was targeting. Met a nice salesman (forgot his name) outside the dealership. We sat at his desk, and he helped us do some online searches. When we started inquiring about the nice 2016 CX-5 Touring SUV sitting right outside, a "sales manager" took over. He talked like a nice guy, but he was misleading throughout the discussions. Told us that to Certify a car, it cost the dealership $2k. Not true: bought the identical car today elsewhere and it was about $900. He was smug throughout the whole process, telling me how much experience he had and that he didn't need the job. We talked about the Philippines, his native home and where my dad fought in WWII. Tried to bond with me, but when it came to the car, he was inflexible and told me untruths about the car and cost. He led us to believe we were on the cusp of a deal, then after "talking to his boss" (How many levels are there??) he came back demanding $500 more...said that "management" wouldn't support the deal. This after he boasted like he was a big shot. Hogwash, if he couldn't approve a deal within $500. We were ticked off and left. Feel like we were jerked around. Can't recommend this place.
