Went for lunch and liked the market decor with options of sandwiches, pizza and pastries. It's nice they have outdoor seating and decided to try "Hey, Hi-Ya-Doin?" Roasted Red Pepper, Aged Provolone, hot "gabagool", sweet soppressata, little gem lettuce, pepperoncini, calabrian mayo, schiacciata bread And the Spicy Jester Pistachio cream, stracciatella, sun dried tomato relish, spicy zucchini, spicy eggplant, dressed arugula, schiacciata bread (Contains Nuts). New spot in sylvan lake! Breakfast is only served until 1030am, which is a little bit of a bummer. We had arrived at 1050am and did hope to have this (not their fault at all, just didn't know/ expect it). The seating area was packed with people and also quite loud. It would be difficult to have a conversation here without raising your voice. They would do well to add some soundproofing to the building to help this. The coffees were both delicious! You can order these to go too which would be great to pair with one of their desserts. Hey how ya doin- overall a really good sandwich, although it had an excessive amount of sauce on it. Mild spice to this. Besto turkey pesto- really generous serving of turkey and cheese on this. Overall really delicious. The pesto was perfectly earthy and well dressed on the bread. Need to go back for breakfast one time as the skillet looks amazing and maybe it would be a little quieter. read more

I never go to restaurants right when they open! Never! But for this place, I ran over there! We have been watching the construction on this place for months then I saw it was opening on Instagram. I saw online they had a sandwich from Italy that I was dying to try because I do not have the means to fly to Italy for a sandwich. Unfortunately, two days after opening, they took it off the menu. I called and they allowed me to reconstruct the Three Tenors sandwich with their focaccia type bread, pesto, pistachio, Stracciatella, mortadella, and arugula. It was honestly a life changing sandwich! So good! The bread was fresh and crunchy, the cheese was super creamy and refreshing, everything about this sandwich was exactly how I imaged it to be. I would come back for this again and again! I pre-ordered the sandwich over the phone because I wanted to make sure they had it, but I stopped in and ordered more to sit down. There was honestly so much I wanted to try I could barely decide. I got their chocolate chip cookie because it looked like a simply cookie and it looked perfect. It was huge! I only took a few bites. It was so good, do not change anything about it. It had a tiny bit of sea salt on top for balance. I also had their trout and cream cheese pastry. It was so flakey, a bit fish, but so good. I could see myself stopping by for those as well. I was temped to get a glass of Prosecco, but I really wanted to try their Affogato. I am so glad I did. It look a bit longer because they needed to start up the soft serve machine, but it was well worth the wait. The espresso shot was perfect and the ice cream so creamy. If the coffee is always this good, count me in for more. I love the concept here. I love the entire menu. They have breakfast, then go into lunch and dinner service. You order at the counter then either carry-out or have them deliver your food to a table. Everyone working here was top notch attentive and friendly. They have fun foods, tinned fish, chocolates, jams, beers, and wines to purchase. It looks like you might be able to take home some of the deli meats. This place is extremely popular and extremely crowed. I am not sure about their soft opening, but this place opened Tuesday and it is only Thursday and they already have multiple repeat customers as a half dozen or more people were greeted with "back again?" I know my family will be jealous that I went without them, but I will bring them back and I would love to try all of their meals. read more

This cozy spot has an incredible variety of from-scratch items everything from fresh meats, artisan breads, and sandwiches to custom salads, breakfast options, and delicious gluten-free desserts. They even have fresh garden vegetables. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with plenty of seating, including a wonderful outdoor area. And I have to mention the coffe it is absolute perfection. Little bit of a hit or miss experience here for our first visit to Cardoon. This is a counter order business where you go and sit down at a table and they bring the food out to you or you take it to go. The lunch time menu was sandwich ands pizza heavy options with a few other options to include some pasta, salad and Panuozzo options where the focus is local farm to table fresh ingredients with a bistro style relative to ingredients and how the food is prepared For my first visit here I ended up ordering a Club sandwich called the "Lunch at the Club" which was comprised of house roasted turkey, crispy bacon, lemon garlic aioli, little gem lettuce gruyere cheese, sun dried tomato relish and hot cherry peppers on a toasted country loaf bread. The ingredients were clearly very fresh where the sandwich had a nice taste but was way too spicy for me. I missed the part of the menu about hot cherry peppers where most clubs I have are never spicy. That was my bad and I am not knocking them for this but be aware this is a spicy sandwich where I ended up scraping it off my sandwich and downing two ice teas to put the fire out (: My knock on this sandwich is it is definitely pricey and for that amount off money they should have used thick cut bacon for the sandwich and not the thin crispy stuff. This is a personal peeve of mine that separate good sandwiches from great sandwiches in my book. Relative to staff and the restaurant, staff is very friendly and facility has a nice bright industrial vibe to it with visible steel roof and trusses which I personally like. The counter order and lack of follow for inside dining was a surprise to me, especially at their price points, where I definitely would have preferred table side servers with follow ups, especially with the drinks and especially if you are serving spicy food . Overall , Cardoon is a nice addition to the greater west Bloomfield area where I am a big fan of the farm to table concept. Just be aware though if you are looking for table style service this may not be the place for you. read more

What a beautiful cafe! The building and its landscaping caught my eye while driving down Orchard Lake, so I was eager to learn more, as I'm new to the area. I was so excited to see it is the sister to Sylvan Table, which we love! The space has a shop with different meats, cheese, tees, cookbooks, spreads, and more. Fun to browse and great for gifting to a food lover (or yourself). We had breakfast, and because it's new, order taking took a little time, but I have no problem with that, as they are likely still sorting things out! The food arrived quickly, and service was outstanding. We had the Sleepwalker breakfast sandwich with sausage, which was absolutely delicious with a flavorful aioli and pickled cherry peppers. We also tried the cookies, and the chocolate chip was one of the best I've had. YUM! You can even order it warmed. We had lattes with our meal, and those were perfectly made. Highly recommend sitting outside! It's such a pretty spot and will feel like you're in a European cafe, just right off a main road ;-) we will definitely be back! read more

Cute little cafe with a patio. You walk up to the counter to order and pay for your food and beverages then choose a table and they bring it out to you. We had the lunch club, doctor guido, and a slice of pepperoni pizza. To drink we had a sprite and glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Everything was amazing! The pizza had a sweeter sauce and was very hot and delicious. Both sandwiches were great. Everything was very fresh on the sandwiches. The lemon aioli really made the lunch club. The service was fast and friendly. We will definitely be back to try more options and get a whole pizza this time. read more

It's important to remember that Cardoon is brand new, and the fact that it's already this busy says a lot. Every new restaurant goes through growing pains, especially when demand exceeds expectations. I've had a great experience here. Yes, there can be a line, but it's a small, farm-to-table concept serving fresh food.... NOT FAST FOOD!!! I'd rather wait a little longer for something made fresh than get something rushed. Double bonus: the coffee is excellent, and pastries are fantastic :). As for comments about the noise, they aren't trying to be a quiet dining experience. It's a lively atmosphere. A little buzz and energy comes with that! It's also important to note it's conveniently located near the walking trail, making it a perfect stop for a coffee or meal before or after a walk!!! TRIPPLE BONUS FOR MEEE! The staff has always been friendly, and it's clear they're working hard to keep up with the crowds. I'm excited to see them continue to grow and can't wait to try more of the menu. Sylvan Lake is lucky to have a place like this!!! read more

I tried this out on Sunday morning. I saw a busy parking lot and thought it was a mistake, but I went in anyway I was able to place an order timely and get more food than I possibly needed in a very short order. I was able to wait at a table and then enjoy it after ordering in the line. I plan to return to try the different options there. read more

Do not eat at Cardoon in Sylvan Lake if you have a nut allergy! We placed an order at the counter, and my daughter told them she had a nut allergy. The allergy was flagged on the order. She started to eat the sandwich she ordered and knew after 2 bites that it had nuts in it. The allergic reaction was immediate. The sandwich did indeed have nuts in it-pistachios. I returned to Cardoon and reported the incident. I received an apology. Allergic diners have the right to dine safely. It is the responsibility of the staff and owners to educate employees about foods that can result in allergic reactions and put diners at risk. When a customer reports an allergy and you are served a food that results in an allergic reaction it's called negligence. Do better Cardoon! read more

First visit. Had Meatball sandwich and mushroom pasta - both great. However, where's the table service? There certainly seems to be enough staff running about - all of whom were great. What wasn't great was standing in line to order. I can imagine leaving upon seeing too long of a line. Too "Mcdonaldesque" in that regard. Great concept, great food. Ordering process will keep me from rushing back. Otherwise, would love to revisit. Too many items include very spicy additives - too hard to avoid. read more

What an awesome place to hit Sylvan Lake! Sylvan Table is amazing and their newest venture Cardoon is nothing short! We had espresso, latte, and their AMAZING Cookies. Highly recommend this place. Social Media definitely gave this place a lot of buzz; we anticipated the wait. We thought that their team was quick and attentive on trying to get everyone helped as fast as possible! Well worth a little initial wait in line. We will be coming back to our new favorite little breakfast and coffee place! We did not try their lunch (went earlier in AM before they switched to lunch) but the menu and options looked unbelievable. We will definitely be coming back to check it out! Bravo to the Cardoon team. Also a great little place to snag some quick charcuterie materials, wine, and other things on your way to an occasion! Food was tasty.... We waited 15 min in line to order. Sat down at a dirty table (the only one available) and waited 29 min for it to get wiped. Food was delivered throughout the place, sporadically. One person got served and the others waited sometimes 20 min in between for their food to arrive. Our food (club sandwich and hotdog) arrived after we asked about it... 50 min after we ordered. Both food items were tasty (although I would have eaten cardboard if we would have waited any longer.) Sylvan Table is one of our fav restaurants. I am sure this place will eventually get it together, but I don't recommend it for a long time. It's loud and the wait is ridiculous. read more
